12:42:44 <Betty> Aurum?
12:43:22 <Betty> yep
12:43:26 <Andre from Germ> Good morning all
12:43:38 <Betty> Hi Andre

13:23:21 <Betty> yep
13:38:45 <Betty> barbeque time! bbl
13:46:37 <ynpvisitor4> what earthquake info, 70? More than usual?
13:48:35 <kcmule> there are some bumps on the seismo, but nothing is up on usgs or recent ynp eq page yet
13:53:52 <Andre from Germ> USGS Site for earthquakes information are the best I think
14:02:40 <Andre from Germ> The latest update of the Yellowstone volcano by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) has shown total 75 registered earthquakes in the Yellowstone National Park region in May 2015. The largest event was a small earthquake of magnitude 3.0 on May 18, at 5:00 PM MDT, located about 3 miles north northeast of Lake, YNP. The earthquake was felt within Yellowstone National Park. No earthquake swar
14:04:10 <Andre from Germ> swarm activity was present during May.
14:05:27 <Andre from Germ> I think the earthquakes are normal
14:05:38 <ynpvisitor70> it takes up to 3 days for the usgs to even input the earquakes into the log if they are not felt, but yes, much more activity from midnight- 2;30A.M. than usual. Usually she quiets down until the sun starts to shine for some reason!
14:06:39 <ynpvisitor70> 11 earthquakes it lookes like between those times last night
14:19:43 <kcmule> wish one of those bumps would wake up giantess
14:22:13 <Andre from Germ> Short question give it here also Elks
14:22:28 <ynpvisitor70> Right KC, but hopefully that will happen in the daytime if one of them ever does!
14:25:10 <ynpvisitor70> Andre, the old faitful seismo is only set to 125 microvolts, compared to 1600 on other seismos around the park, so while elk may make small lines on them, I don't think these last night were caused by animals
14:26:16 <ynpvisitor70> http://www.seis.utah.edu/helicorder/yft_webi.htm
14:29:38 <Andre from Germ> not animals I know that that was a other question sorry my english Give it in Wyoming Elk`s?
14:31:24 <ynpvisitor70> It could also be a glitch in the seismo, like the one in may 2014 that freaked everyone into believing an eruption was going to happen because the seismos were registering major movement when movement was not even occuring. Sometimes they do that
14:36:44 <Andre from Germ> oh my god bear in the garden look this video :-)
14:36:46 <Andre from Germ> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ScRWxpCZH4
14:41:09 <ynpvisitor70> Lol thats funny Andre. I bet that guy would not be out there saying its time to go to a grizzly!
14:47:20 <Andre from Germ> but in Yellowstone park do it gives grizzly bears
14:48:36 <ynpvisitor70> I believe there are a confirmed 800 known Grizzlies in the park
14:50:59 <Andre from Germ> 800 Grizzly Bear gives in yellowstone park wow and also many Bisons they run also on the streets
14:51:53 <Andre from Germ> or on the roads I don`t know exactly
14:53:31 <Andre from Germ> In North Germany there where I live give no bears I see always only Birds
14:56:03 <Andre from Germ> What do your mean with PA is I think a Country maybe Pennsylvania
15:03:50 <ynpvisitor70> There used to be many more Andre, but they were hunted near to extinction in the states in the early 1900's for their furs. I think Yellowstone has the most concentrated amount of them in the area than any other place in the country now
15:05:03 <ynpvisitor70> Yes, PA is Pennsylvania, its in the North East part of the country Andre
15:06:10 <Andre from Germ> ah ok
15:19:29 <Andre from Germ> Old Faithul Geyser will erupt 8:08 am +/- 17 minutes
15:20:24 <Andre from Germ> what mean with window opens in 30 minutes
15:55:55 <Betty> Andre, I think you want to know if there are moose in Yellowstone (moose = Elch) yes, you see them sometimes. Elk are "Wapiti-Hirsche" in german
15:57:07 <Betty> And there are a lot of elk in the park
15:57:22 <Andre from Germ> ah ok
15:57:47 <Betty> Moose are rare
16:18:24 <ynpvisitor37> Andre - A window is the time a geyser is expected to erupt. They usually have a window such as Old Faithful that is 10 minutes plus or minus, so if Old Faithful is expected to erupt at 0630 the window would be 0620 to 0640.
16:38:14 <Andre from Germ> ok then can the OF before or after this time 0630 erupt
16:39:42 <Kevin L> Yes it can. When you hear the term "going out of its window" that means a geyser did not erupt within the time it was expected. It does happen a lot.
16:40:22 <Kevin L> The Visitor Center used to have a sign that said "We only predict the geysers, we don't schedule them.".
16:41:37 <ynpvisitor78> Hi Kevin
16:42:05 <ynpvisitor78> Bah, name is gone
16:42:20 <Kevin L> Hi
16:45:39 <Betty> I caught Aurum for you this morning

20:38:45 <ynpvisitor61> ha ha Daisy too
20:38:51 <ynpvisitor40> unfortunately, teh cam has to include OF when in the window. That is why it is important to knwo the window.
20:39:03 <ynpvisitor61> I do not think this is what Betty had in mind...
20:39:07 <kcmule> come on OF complete the quad
20:39:21 <ynpvisitor40> It is what I expected
20:39:41 <Betty> haha, no. Not like this, 61
20:40:55 <ynpvisitor40> When I saw how it was lining up. I expected teh worst that could happen was OF going last. So the camera had to take the wide view.
20:40:56 <ynpvisitor61> OF will be stubborn and wait til Grand is done

20:50:00 <Betty> juth thought the same! Wow
20:51:04 <ynpvisitor70> I suppose they are all trying to get in a last few eruptions before heading back to the daily grind tomorrow!
20:54:17 <French Girl> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24U9NYBCZFs
20:56:14 <ynpvisitor40> I love the line of cones.
20:57:30 <ynpvisitor40> When was the last eruption?
20:57:42 <French Girl> ynpvisitor70 - They sleep for a long time, but are under surveillance!
20:59:47 <ynpvisitor70> I was refering to the Geysers. Last eruption of the Volcano was 640,000 years ago. That was the last major eruption, although their have been a few smaller eruptions since then that only spewed lava instead of full scale explosion
21:01:00 <French Girl> The last eruption, 1550 before JC !
21:01:48 <ynpvisitor40> interesting
21:05:27 <ynpvisitor40> These are the volcanoes around where I live. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Fk-Z5_YIm0
21:07:37 <French Girl> In Oregon or Washington state ?
21:09:20 <ynpvisitor40> Washington state. I lived down wind of Mt Saint Helens when it erupted May 18, 1980. Fortunately, we only got a couple inches of ash where I lived.
21:15:33 <French Girl> It was very impressive as eruption, happy that you did not too much suffe r! Now I am going to sleep, in later! That God protects you friends of the World !
21:16:10 <Betty> goodnight
