22:08:48 <ynpvisitor999> OF 0008
22:11:29 <ynpvisitor999> that was really short
04:57:38 <ynpvisitor999> morning Dave
05:00:34 <Dave from B> Morning 999, Ryan
05:00:51 <ynpvisitor999> morning Ryan
05:01:06 <ynpvisitor999> looks like Dep is ie
05:05:28 <Ryan> Morning all
05:05:34 <Ryan> do we think BH is post eruptive?
05:05:46 <Ryan> Looks awfully quiet to me
05:07:40 <Dave from B> I haven't had a close look at it but it is due to throw a shorter interval
05:07:50 <ynpvisitor41> Just read article about proposed fee increase for busiest national parks to cover costs of maintenance backlog. $70 with 80 percent retained by park collecting fee.
05:10:51 <Dave from B> Would be huge for YNP but is the purpose to raise more money or to reduce visitation or both?
05:13:32 <ynpvisitor41> Article's spin- raise money for maintenance backlog
05:13:39 <Ryan> Dome
05:15:15 <ynpvisitor41> I'm not sure an increase would have much impact on reduced visitation
05:16:33 <Ryan> Grotto
05:19:12 <ynpvisitor41> Annual increase in room price doesn't seem to reduce visitation
05:19:18 <Dave from B> 41, I think you're probably correct. When you think of lodging, fuel, food.....gate fee is a small portion of vacation budget
05:20:47 <ynpvisitor40> they need to get more money from Tours too
05:21:18 <ynpvisitor41> Much more!!!!
05:21:27 <ynpvisitor40> not necessarily the local small businesses but the big ones, you know who I mean
05:26:27 <Dave from B> Tour companies using big noise busses do need to pay more
05:26:31 <Dave from B> noisy*
05:28:14 <Dave from B> I'm not even sure I want them hoarding all the rooms inside the park
05:29:03 <Ryan> Gonna be a nice OF here
05:30:34 <Dave from B> :P
05:31:04 <ynpvisitor999> Dwarf area?
05:33:39 <ynpvisitor41> Is that noise from the bus or occupants?
05:34:16 <ynpvisitor999> OF
05:34:22 <ynpvisitor40> both!!
05:35:02 <Dave from B> from the bus...while waiting for riders to hop back on parked in front of your room at any major hotel in the park
05:35:49 <A1 Truck Sales> At least they banned them from Firehole Lake Drive.
05:37:06 <ynpvisitor41> OF - really nice
05:37:15 <Ryan> Gorgeous
05:37:46 <A1 Truck Sales> Morning eruptions are really fun.
05:41:15 <Ryan> Geez is it PINK
05:42:54 <A1 Truck Sales> Pink is pretty in the sky.
05:46:24 <ynpvisitor41> SC? or just stesm
05:46:49 <ynpvisitor999> can't see water, nor heavy steam, so no
05:47:45 <ynpvisitor999> it's been this way for 3 days now. Should hopefully start another series soon
05:49:49 <ynpvisitor41> Beautiful morning. Would be nice to be on other side of cam
05:49:54 <Ryan> So are we expecting Beehive somewhere around 18:00?
05:50:17 <Ryan> Assuming a short - so around 03:00 + 15hrs...
05:58:38 <ynpvisitor23> Why assume a short?
05:59:23 <Ryan> Its been time for a shortie. If it did then we'd see it in daylight. If it didnt then it will likely be after dark.
05:59:52 <ynpvisitor23> When was the last BH?
05:59:55 <Ryan> So if there was a short we'd see it. If there wasn't we probably wont. in other words, I am grasping at straws to see Beehive tonight.
06:00:03 <Ryan> Recorded? Yeasterday
06:00:35 <ynpvisitor40> 19 hrs ago ynpvisitor23
06:00:49 <ynpvisitor23> So you are thinking it already did a short?
06:02:05 <Ryan> Yeah, just assuming the short end of the interval is all.
06:03:11 <Ryan> If you double it out using two shorts then it could erupt as early as 1800-1900. Assume two longs and it could be as late as 0000-0100 tomorrow morning.
06:03:40 <ynpvisitor23> last interval was 21 hrs, so maybe it will not be too long until it erupts
06:04:14 <Ryan> Maybe, its looking pretty post eruptive this morning. Almost no steam.
06:04:22 <ynpvisitor23> Doesn’t seem to be doing shorts of late
06:04:38 <Ryan> But, without being there to listen to it... I am only going off the lack of steam and bubblers.
06:04:53 <ynpvisitor999> if it erupted, we'll likely don't know when, because it was foggy at the time of prediction
06:05:05 <Ryan> Nah, its liking longs with the occasional short.
06:05:07 <ynpvisitor23> Ok
06:05:30 <Ryan> Based on how it looks, I am guessing it went in the predicted window. That thing looks dead.
06:06:26 <ynpvisitor999> I think we'll have an estimated eruption time based on when it starts splashing - usually about 4 hours after an eruption
06:06:35 <Ryan> But WTH - I'll put some cents down on 18:15 +/- 20min :D
06:07:26 <A1 Truck Sales> I think it does what it wants right now. no consistent pattern.
06:08:14 <Ryan> Depends on your definition of consistent. By simply looking at numbers its kind of all over the place but with a general trend of 16-17hrs.
06:08:29 <Ryan> But if you sat there and watched and listened in person I bet it has a pattern :-P
06:08:52 <ynpvisitor31> Hi Kevin
06:08:59 <ynpvisitor999> I'm waiting for the overnight captures to be posted, expecting it around 0822
06:09:03 <A1 Truck Sales> Morning
06:09:20 <ynpvisitor31> :)
06:09:31 <ynpvisitor999> morning Kevin
06:10:08 <A1 Truck Sales> There may have been some northern lights last night too,
06:10:35 <ynpvisitor999> I wonder if the Lion series continued after the 1921 eruption
06:10:49 <ynpvisitor40> ....
06:11:09 <Kevin L™> Look for Aurum, BH, Grand, & Giantess. Dentist time. :p
06:11:49 <ynpvisitor999> that's a quit message I haven't seen too often - kicked by noflood
06:13:06 <ynpvisitor31> 40's cat must have sat on the keyboard.
06:13:18 <ynpvisitor40> ya sorry about that my cat sat on the num keys
06:13:41 <ynpvisitor999> I think BH just splashed - must've been a heavy splash
06:14:03 <ynpvisitor999> or Scissors..., Depression?
06:28:28 <Dave from B> Kevin, great game last night
06:31:45 <Eric> morning
06:33:25 <Jimbo Palladium> Was there a Grand prediction?
06:33:39 <Jimbo Palladium> Never mind
06:37:16 <Dave from B> Jimbo, I would say at least 60 minutes before next Grand...hard to be real accurate with a triple interval
06:37:51 <Dave from B> Castle could be in next 120 minutes
06:38:43 <Dave from B> I sure hope Sawmill restarts this winter
06:39:13 <Eric> Math says Grand 9:50 +- 13m
06:39:57 <Dave from B> Hi, Eric.....sounds good to me
06:40:41 <ynpvisitor999> Daisy
06:40:55 <ynpvisitor93> :daisy::daisy::daisy:
06:42:35 <Jimbo Palladium> Hey, I just thought of something - for an emoji of Depression, is there an Eeyore?
06:42:57 <Eric>
06:43:12 <ynpvisitor40> noooooo
06:43:46 <Dave from B> "Thanks for noticin' me"
06:44:19 <ynpvisitor93> Grand was 0332 ie wc overnight capture
06:45:07 <ynpvisitor93> overnight capture is already available
06:45:37 <Dave from B> Then, we should start looking around 920
06:45:38 <Dave from B> Thanks 93
07:18:14 <ynpvisitor93> the bee looks aweful quiet
07:18:41 <ynpvisitor93> fluffy
07:18:43 <ynpvisitor17> entries to 1 million only 3327 now. Someone did some serious inputing
07:18:57 <Eric> Yes, BH doesn't seem like it went 20+ hours ago...
07:19:29 <ynpvisitor93> looks like the fog socked in around 2 this morning and again around 5 am
07:19:31 <ynpvisitor17> wasn't it at 8000 just yesterday?
07:19:49 <Eric> Will has been processing a lot of logger data 17
07:20:12 <ynpvisitor17> his next batch may bring it over 1 million then
07:20:43 <Eric> They are trying to be careful not to let e-times be the 1 millionth entry :-D
07:20:50 <ynpvisitor17> my stream is very choppy today
07:23:37 <Eric> Lion
07:24:03 <ynpvisitor31> ini
07:24:32 <Eric> Bummer, no NG last night
07:26:27 <ynpvisitor17> was there a long Lion series?
07:26:46 <Eric> Yes, little over 10 hours of lions
07:26:53 <ynpvisitor999> yesterday from 1048 to 2033
07:27:14 <ynpvisitor999> 11 eruptions total
07:27:16 <Eric> sorry, little under 10 hours :-D
07:27:41 <ynpvisitor999> two minors, the rest majors and one ini
07:27:53 <ynpvisitor17> Grand
07:28:26 <Dave from B> Lion
07:28:59 <Dave from B> haha. I guess I'm a little lagged today
07:29:08 <ynpvisitor999> thought so already :)
07:29:09 <ynpvisitor17> are you on a 6 minute delay?
07:29:52 <ynpvisitor99> Anyone know how to get rid of the HLS - Delay stream?
07:30:01 <Eric> Enable Flash
07:30:18 <Dave from B> 17, I'll have to chekc...probably not 6 minutes
07:30:33 <ynpvisitor999> it could be worse, though, #17. Once I was about 20-30 minutes behind
07:30:38 <Eric> The instructions are under the Help section on the right.
07:31:04 <ynpvisitor99> Thanks, something must have changed to re-disable it on my system
07:31:06 <Dave from B> I have flash enabled and I still have the delay issue 17
07:31:23 <ynpvisitor999> but now everything seems to go smoothly - or the stream gets stuck or it is pretty much live
07:32:00 <Eric> Yes, when we moved servers, the chat page went to https (secure webpage) so your browser thinks it's a totally new page.
07:32:59 <ynpvisitor999> Firefox update few weeks ago turned off Flash too. That was before the GT move to the new server
07:33:19 <ynpvisitor99>
07:33:28 <ynpvisitor999> 56.0.0 update, I do believe
07:34:49 <Jimbo Palladium> :grand: at 8 minutes
07:35:39 <Kevin L™> Well I get the last 2m of Grand.
07:37:48 <ynpvisitor17> why are we so close?
07:38:00 <ynpvisitor17> was that a 2nd?
07:38:00 <ynpvisitor999> 2nd?
07:38:06 <ynpvisitor17> hard to tell this close up
07:38:30 <ynpvisitor999> but it did look like one, based on the steam plume that appeared
07:38:44 <Jimbo Palladium> Seeing it now. I'd say 2nd, it's big and timing is right
07:38:57 <ynpvisitor17> yes, but we could not really see it. Putting it in GT would be a ?
07:39:07 <Jimbo Palladium>
07:39:09 <ynpvisitor17> this is the view we needed
07:39:19 <ynpvisitor17> I will leave it to the experts
07:39:41 <ynpvisitor17> sure looks like it is going to be a nice day there
07:39:42 <ynpvisitor999> comment, saying 'possible second burst @ 0937'
07:40:13 <Dave from B> There can be big surges in activity like a second burst (a little smaller) even without the pause
07:44:29 <Kevin L™> It was a great game Dave.
07:44:40 <Eric> USGS doesn't list a seismic monitoring station at Old Faithful anymore
07:45:04 <ynpvisitor999> isn't YFT the OF station?
07:45:52 <ynpvisitor999> Dome
07:46:03 <ynpvisitor999> morning Jake
07:47:13 <Eric> Hmm, it's on the Utah University Map
07:47:46 <ynpvisitor999> and here's the link to the image: http://quake.utah.edu/station/heli/YFT.png
07:48:18 <Kevin L™> http://quake.utah.edu/station/heli/YFT.png
07:49:13 <Kevin L™> Live stations: http://quake.utah.edu/earthquake-center/heli-map
07:49:20 <Eric> So any requests for specific seismographs in the park? I am creating a drop down list similar to the webcam selector
07:49:29 <Eric> Probably won't include them all.
07:49:42 <ynpvisitor999> YMC & YMR
07:49:48 <ynpvisitor999> YFT, obviously
07:50:57 <Kevin L™> YHB
07:51:10 <ynpvisitor999> YNM and/or YNR (two Norris seismos)
07:51:48 <ynpvisitor999> YLT (West Thumb seismo)
07:53:15 <ynpvisitor999> YPP, possibly
07:53:39 <ynpvisitor999> YHL (Hebgen Lake seismo)
07:55:05 <ynpvisitor999> YMV, Mammoth Vault seismo
07:55:55 <Eric> thank
07:58:01 <ynpvisitor999> I think that's all of the (if not, more than needed) seismos that monitor important places (apart from YPP, then, but whatever :) )
08:00:02 <Dave from B> How about drop down menu for Geyser Grill:)
08:02:29 <Eric> Good idea Dave :-P
08:02:59 <Eric> Running into an issue with Utah not providing secure links to the graphs, so the page is going to complain when they get loaded :-(
08:03:59 <Dave from B> All joking aside, thanks for the numerous upgrades here. It is great. Now, another couple of streaming cams and I'll be happy:)
08:04:36 <ynpvisitor999> By the way Joe, that question mark for an entry isn't needed for whether or not two bursts have taken place or not. A question mark is meant for when an observer thinks he/she saw an eruption, but isn't certain of it. The best thing to do, is empty the input thing for bursts of that Grand eruption and then add a comment saying 'possible second burst @ 0937'.
08:13:44 <ynpvisitor999> Riverside
08:19:39 <ynpvisitor40> Great Fountain is coming back. Cool
08:21:30 <ynpvisitor31> 999, entry fixed.
08:31:38 <ynpvisitor97> lot of steam at bee ?bubblers
08:34:09 <ynpvisitor97> what do you mean by Great Fountain is coming back?
08:34:59 <Dave from B> Rest after Wild Phase is over
08:35:44 <ynpvisitor97> sorry, didn't know it had had a wild phase
08:35:51 <ynpvisitor40> no, seen post eruptive this a.m.
08:37:20 <ynpvisitor97> has there been any splashing from bee?
08:39:27 <Eric> Bee seemed super quiet.
08:40:29 <ynpvisitor97> Lion
08:40:34 <Eric> Lion
08:41:13 <ynpvisitor65> Report from lower basin...Great Fountain is post eruptive, so it is back.
08:44:29 <ynpvisitor40> the next intervals will be interesting!
08:45:40 <ynpvisitor65> so wish there was a logger on it. well, I mean one we could access now
08:46:50 <ynpvisitor999> what about YVO loggers that fail to upload data automatically during bad weather conditions?
08:47:29 <Dave from B> How much more expensive are loggers that could be read in real time instead of downloaded?
08:48:38 <ynpvisitor999> you'd need a plug and wireless or wired connection first before they could be useful in any way
08:48:42 <ynpvisitor6> They have to wait for the closet full of unused loggers to die before they procure any more that work, I bet!
08:49:15 <ynpvisitor6> Maybe the wolf collars could be made to work?
08:50:26 <Eric> Page refresh will get you a new updated seismo widget on the right
08:50:32 <ynpvisitor40> I thought NPS interps checked the GF logger - am I wrong on that and we have to wait for the full year download?
08:51:10 <ynpvisitor999> what's the difference between NPS geology and interps, actually?
08:51:59 <ynpvisitor65> NPS logger was pulled on Sept 30
08:52:08 <ynpvisitor31> I see yft now>
08:52:40 <ynpvisitor65> and I have talked to many folk at GF that say a satellite logger would not be so difficult, and could be read from afar, the main thing would be how to keep critters away from it
08:52:43 <ynpvisitor40> so, do interpst still go check it, like they do for Grand and Daisy?
08:52:44 <Jake> logger was pulled as in removed
08:52:50 <Jake> ?
08:52:55 <ynpvisitor65> 40, the logger is GONE
08:53:08 <ynpvisitor40> whaaa?
08:53:24 <ynpvisitor40> why?
08:53:51 <ynpvisitor999> Castle
08:54:39 <ynpvisitor65> no people to check it, too understaffed
08:54:49 <ynpvisitor6> Because it is just a geyser. Not important to them.
08:55:28 <ynpvisitor40> how fast does it fill up? They could just leave it until it's full, at least
08:55:34 <Dave from B> Signs in UGB were rarely changed during my trips this year...System needs to be automated
08:55:55 <ynpvisitor999> I think there's a job for GOSA-JB - running loggers
08:57:03 <Dave from B> Running loggers and maintaining signs would both be good roles
08:59:08 <ynpvisitor65> no, they are seriously understaffed
08:59:19 <ynpvisitor999> OF 1058(:43)
08:59:47 <ynpvisitor51> they have 4 people at this time
09:00:05 <ynpvisitor999> that's not a lot
09:00:19 <ynpvisitor51> with a list of jobs that they must still do
09:00:28 <ynpvisitor999> like?
09:01:00 <Jake> operate the visitor center mostly, at least a 4 person job
09:01:01 <Dave from B> Staff the visitor center, watch for wildlife issues, answer the phone...
09:01:50 <Jake> it's not that they don't care about geysers, it's just not in the top 20 of priorities
09:01:51 <ynpvisitor51> junior ranger papers, old faithful monitoring, answering questions, updating board inside
09:02:07 <Eric> So it looks like GT had 2 loggers on it, one from YNP Geology and one from YNP interp?
09:02:14 <Dave from B> leading walks during peak season
09:02:18 <Jake> GF, you mean...
09:02:26 <Eric> Yes, GF
09:03:03 <Jake> yes, I don't know the status of the Geology dept's logger there, it is a long-term one
09:03:59 <ynpvisitor999> so, how quick do the loggers fill, actually?
09:04:14 <ynpvisitor40> OK do I have this right - it was pulled for end of season, but Geology still has one there
09:04:28 <Jake> there are at least 4 different groups operating temperature loggers on geysers: NPS Interp, NPS Geology, Yellowstone Volcano Observatory, GOSA
09:04:53 <Jake> NPS Interp reads their loggers daily for the predictable geysers
09:05:25 <Eric> Ahh, that makes sense that interp would pull theirs if they don't have the staff to check it daily.
09:05:26 <Jake> NPS Geology is long-term monitoring of features (interest and prioritization declined heavily after Ralph Taylor left as a volunteer)
09:05:45 <ynpvisitor999> in 2012, I guess?
09:06:02 <Jake> YVO does the Norris loggers for general monitoring of the basin
09:06:37 <Jake> GOSA runs loggers led by Will B and Jeff Cross to study/gather long-term data
09:07:47 <Jake> all groups with differing objectives, priorities, territorial claims, politics
09:07:57 <Jake> DG, Ralph left well before 2012
09:08:12 <ynpvisitor40> "territorial claims" - good one Jake
09:08:42 <ynpvisitor999> oh, thought 2012, as that's the last year logger information is available on the GOSA site
09:09:37 <Jake> Jeff Cross and Will have both done a lot to reinvigorate the data logger field. It would be better if either of them were allowed to be the ones to log the big frontcountry geysers like Beehive and Lion, but NPS Geology has held onto those.
09:09:50 <ynpvisitor6> Have to remember the public does not go to Yellowstone to see geysers. They go to see bears, bison, and OF.
09:10:56 <ynpvisitor999> looks like Castle major
09:10:57 <Jake> Jeff and Will are much more motivated to gather data frequently. NPS geo does it twice a year and it's at those times they learn that the logger has gone missing for months or failed or the sensor moved slightly. that results in lots of lost data.
09:11:12 <ynpvisitor6> Only wierdos go to Yellowstone to see geysers and wolfs.
09:11:37 <ynpvisitor603> :p
09:11:53 <ynpvisitor40> LOL I was going to mention 603
09:11:58 <ynpvisitor999> so apparently I'll be a weirdo according to the general public. Fair enough
09:12:04 <ynpvisitor40> and there you are...
09:12:44 <Jake> most of the geyser and wolf weirdos have money so they get the label "eccentric" if you're poor, you're crazy
09:13:10 <ynpvisitor603> We're apparently double weirdos or 2x the crazy
09:13:43 <Jake> Daisy
09:13:46 <Jake> :daisy:
09:16:25 <ynpvisitor6> Got to wonder how many people would go to Yellowstone if OF quit. The parking lot is bigger there then any other geyser attraction.
09:16:40 <ynpvisitor31> IN todays world, you go places to be seen not to see things :)
09:17:22 <ynpvisitor6> I bet there is more parking at OF then there is at all of the lots in Zion and Mesa Verde combined.
09:17:59 <ynpvisitor6> By memory Mesa has 28 camp spots?
09:18:07 <ynpvisitor6> Or is it 18?
09:22:13 <ynpvisitor40> we are lucky to have any logger information - even if it is not current, it helps with the big picture.
09:22:24 <ynpvisitor40> Look at TSB's recent posts, for example.
09:28:08 <Dave from B> If GOSA can be viewed as an organization that wants to help instead of a group of gazers who just want to watch geysers, I feel NPS would respect us more. Problem is, many of us ARE just there to watch geysers.
09:28:33 <Betty> hi all
09:28:34 <ynpvisitor999> evening Betty
09:29:17 <Betty> evening DG
09:33:28 <Kevin L™> Hi Betty
09:44:55 <ynpvisitor999> Aurum!
09:44:56 <ynpvisitor999> .
09:44:56 <ynpvisitor999> .
09:45:02 <Eric> auurm
09:45:03 <Eric> .
09:45:14 <Jimbo Palladium> see it
09:45:31 <Eric> would have been a nice time for zoom...no OF steam
09:46:07 <Kevin L™> :p
09:51:44 <Betty> grrrrr, was reading the logs of today
09:53:06 <ynpvisitor603> Re: Fee increase?
09:53:39 <Eric> Hi Betty
09:53:51 <Betty> hi Eric
09:54:03 <Betty> hi Kevin
09:54:35 <Kevin L™> CHAQ CHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 603. $70 a car.
09:54:37 <Dave from B> Hi Betty
09:55:08 <Betty> hi Dave from B
09:55:08 <ynpvisitor603> Anyone seen what they will be raising the annual pass to?
09:55:42 <ynpvisitor999> looks like end of series for Lion
09:55:54 <Dave from B> Staying at 75 or 80...no change
09:55:57 <ynpvisitor65> I wish they would have a day pass or a 3 day pass for less. Lots of locals and poorer folks will no longer come
09:56:14 <ynpvisitor65> people within a few hundred miles
09:56:40 <Kevin L™> Annual is $80 right now.
09:56:48 <ynpvisitor603> From a quick google search "The cost of the annual pass, which permits entrance into all federal lands and parks, would remain at $80."
09:56:58 <ynpvisitor65> Zinke may go down as the worst Interior Secretary ever
09:57:22 <ynpvisitor999> or maybe not. Lion
09:57:44 <Dave from B> Watt are you talking about?
09:58:12 <ynpvisitor603> Albert Fall was real bad
09:58:25 <Dave from B> and, i spelled that correctly
09:58:26 <ynpvisitor999> me? about whether or not the Lion series would continue or not
09:58:52 <ynpvisitor40> remember the joke: how much energy does it take to destroy the environment?
10:00:35 <Kevin L™> Lion was simply a burp that time.
10:04:14 <ynpvisitor65> he is only 10 months in...I think Watt will be like Bush, looking a LOT better after all this craziness
10:04:47 <ynpvisitor40> the puerto rico thing is a joke - I hope that gets rescinded, and fast
10:09:23 <Kevin L™> Here is the comment site for the fee increases. If you have ideas, send them. https://parkplanning.nps.gov/projectHome.cfm?projectId=75576
10:10:51 <ynpvisitor65> the puerto rico thing is like what Cheney did to Iraq
10:11:33 <ynpvisitor40> "my buddies can handle this job"
10:16:42 <Eric> Anyone know the 2 guys from whitefish that got the 300 million $ contract?
10:37:03 <ynpvisitor999> OF 1236
10:41:18 <ynpvisitor999> wb JAke
10:41:21 <ynpvisitor999> Jake*
10:46:00 <Dave from B> Hey, Jake...when is the Peru qualifying game(s)?
10:48:46 <Jake> Nov 10 and 15
10:50:09 <Dave from B> Thanks
11:44:15 <Dave from B> Daisy shiould be any minute
11:45:57 <Kevin L™> How is the truck?
11:47:23 <Dave from B> Still sitting outside waiting for mechanic to pick it up
11:47:54 <Dave from B> He's less than a block away so they will get it started and take it back to their shop
11:49:01 <Kevin L™> Didn't like my solution?
11:49:37 <Dave from B> haha. entertaining for a few seconds but then a big mess
11:50:32 <ynpvisitor999> Daisy
11:50:39 <Kevin L™> It does relieve stress though.
11:51:20 <Eric> Sounds like tannerite was involved in Kevin's "solution" :-P
11:51:40 <Betty> haha, sure
11:51:46 <Dave from B> How did you guess?:)
11:52:18 <Eric> I would have hate to been one of his kids and had a problem :-)
11:52:37 <Kevin L™> Not a bad product relieves stress, fertilizes your lawn....
11:52:38 <Eric> Sorry little johnny...kaboooom!
11:53:03 <Dave from B> hahaha
11:53:26 <ynpvisitor31> no:bee:, whats with :bee: how much longer will the wait :bee:
11:53:45 <Kevin L™> Hey, it was my kid that showed the stuff to me!
11:54:10 <Betty> sorry daddy....kaboooom!
11:54:27 <Dave from B> 31, I'm guessing fog obscured last nights eruption
11:54:41 <ynpvisitor31> ok
11:55:41 <Eric> Well, then I guess we will no how things end for you then Kevin :-P
11:56:17 <Dave from B> Eric, that's not really how cremation works
11:56:45 <Eric> Easier...nothing left to cremate!
11:57:19 <Kevin L™> That reminds me, Rainbow Canyon season starts Friday! And there will be tannerite involved!
11:57:46 <Kevin L™> Good point Eric. REALLY fertilize your lawn!
11:58:31 <Eric> I watched a video of a guy turn an entire barn into splinters. It was insane
11:59:05 <Kevin L™> I know the video. Really took care of that barn.
12:00:37 <ynpvisitor999> OF 1400
12:03:37 <Jake> after video review, my guess is Beehive will be after sunset today because it erupted around 0400 in the fog
12:05:52 <Eric> Not on GT....didn't happen :-P
12:22:30 <Kevin L™> BH has gone dormant. Will not erupt again until after the next eclipse.
12:24:36 <Jake> GOOD to know!
12:25:05 <Jake> I accept your conclusion without question
12:25:07 <ynpvisitor52> solar or lunar?
12:25:18 <Dave from B> And, I've already wasted all day waiting for it...grrr
12:25:25 <Kevin L™> Full solar.
12:25:46 <Kevin L™> Sort of like US 20 and US 91 Dave?
12:25:59 <ynpvisitor52> park in path of totality?
12:26:17 <Kevin L™> Naw, just the next one in the US.
12:26:40 <Dave from B> Yes, hope to never step foot on US 91 again
12:27:02 <Betty> would it work if I show :bee: a picture of the last one?
12:27:22 <ynpvisitor52> backing that prediction with $$$$
12:27:22 <ynpvisitor999> and the stream is down :(
12:27:38 <Betty> :grand::grand::grand::grand::grand:
12:27:57 <Eric> I see nothing....
12:27:59 <Kevin L™> BTW Dave, the Las Vegas Strip was US 91.
12:28:29 <ynpvisitor71> Who broke BH
12:28:50 <Dave from B> >>>
12:28:52 <Eric> Dave apparently
12:28:56 <Betty> Eric, that is cash, not Grand in this case :!:
12:28:57 <Dave from B> >>>
12:29:36 <ynpvisitor999> and the stream is back
12:30:00 <Dave from B> I may walk the Strip but I never have a car when I'm in LV
12:31:47 <ynpvisitor71> So why did they name it the strip? Cause you can and will loose your pants?
12:32:03 <Dave from B> :D
12:33:52 <Eric> You ever been to Batista's in Vegas Dave?
12:34:14 <Dave from B> No
12:34:40 <Eric> Next time you are there...look it up, fun, old school place off the strip.
12:35:23 <Eric> real hole in the wall kinda place.
12:35:24 <Dave from B> Looks great. Italian is my favorite...yum yum yum yum
12:35:37 <Eric> All you can drink wine...jugs on the table.
12:35:51 <Dave from B> Defintely within walking distance from the area we usually stay
12:36:09 <Eric> Yes, not too far out of the way
12:36:45 <Dave from B> After 50 miles in 4 days in California, I feel I can walk any distance
12:40:16 <Kevin L™> I used to know why they named it the strip but I forget now.
12:40:47 <Kevin L™> That is near the Flamingo Eric?
12:40:52 <ynpvisitor71> Google says a LA cop named it after the sunset
12:41:10 <Eric> I think so Kevin
12:41:50 <Dave from B> Kevin, Basically across the street from Bally's
12:41:50 <ynpvisitor71> I guess the Sunset Strip was the first place you could loose your pants.
12:42:27 <Dave from B> Kevin, I will tell you US 110 in LA almost as bad as US 91 in Idaho
12:42:56 <Kevin L™> If it is the place I am thinking of we had to talk to a guy there in the kitchen when we were doing a road project there. Usually kitchens are a bit in disorder. This place looked like a hospital surgical room. Cleanest kitchen I have ever seen. I was impressed.
12:43:52 <Eric> Would anyone mind if I set the max size for the video to 960x540? Would that screw up anyone's layout horribly?
12:43:59 <Kevin L™> I simply HATE LA traffic. Best view of california is at Primm in the rearview mirror.
12:45:05 <Dave from B> There were some CRAZY motorcycle drivers cutting in between traffic
12:45:26 <ynpvisitor71> Kevin, good thing you worked the roads in Nevada. I would blame you for the double cross over drive on the wrong side of the road underpass in Cedar City.
12:46:01 <ynpvisitor71> Least I think t was in Cedar City
12:46:01 <Kevin L™> Stupid thing is that is legal in california! They do it in Nevada and tick people off and get tickets.
12:46:13 <Eric> That is legal in California Dave
12:46:30 <Eric> I hate lane splitting motorcycles...crazy dangerous
12:46:39 <Dave from B> you are kidding me
12:47:17 <Kevin L™> Yep 71. There is also one in St George and they did one here in Henderson on I-515 at Horizon.
12:47:18 <Eric> Nope...you kinda get use to it after a while, but I still hate it.
12:47:23 <Kevin L™> No kidding Dave.
12:47:30 <ynpvisitor71> Simple rule of the road. The bigger vehicle always wins.
12:47:31 <Dave from B> 71, they have an overpass like that in Louisville, Colorado
12:47:58 <Dave from B> I was tempted to squeeze the lane to keep them out. Glad I didn't
12:48:06 <ynpvisitor71> Thy build crazy interchanges in Dallas Fort Worth.
12:48:34 <ynpvisitor71> Texas likes to say everything is bigger. I bet one I was on had 5 levels.
12:49:17 <Kevin L™> Bunch in the Salt Lake and Brigham City too.
12:49:47 <Kevin L™> That was indeed 5 levels on the Texas interchange 71.
12:51:38 <ynpvisitor71> And the concrete road surface is soo loud, you can not walk into a business next to them with out ear muffs.
12:54:16 <ynpvisitor71> That interchange is fun in stop and go traffic.
12:55:05 <ynpvisitor71> Acrophobia in a car
12:55:25 <Kevin L™> When they were building the I-515/I-215 3 level flyover I would love to get out at the top. Great view. Can't do that anymore!
12:55:30 <Dave from B> Uber driver said LA is supposed to be in complete gridlock in 5-10 years
12:55:50 <Kevin L™> Here you go Dave: http://battistaslasvegas.com/
12:55:56 <ynpvisitor71> Uber shoul duse busses
12:56:31 <Eric> It's not already in complete gridlock Dave?
12:57:10 <ynpvisitor71> Wait till they start using the self flying drones!
12:57:20 <Kevin L™> Odd thing is back in the 50's LA had one of the best mass transit systems with the Pacific Electric Railroad. Bet they wish they had that back!
12:58:22 <Dave from B> Eric, it is supposed to get worse
12:58:28 <ynpvisitor71> Lots of cities had good mass transit systems before they started selling busses.
12:59:23 <Dave from B> I rented a car to go to Universal and the Dodger Game (2 rentals) because of poor public transportation
13:01:49 <Eric> Yes, it's called urban planning...a lot of cities didn't bother and let developers decide how things should be built. Big mistake.
13:02:24 <Kevin L™> Dittos to that Eric.
13:08:03 <Kevin L™> Fall foliage at Horseshoe Curve in PA is awesome today.
13:10:07 <Dave from B> Anyone seen a Turban yet?
13:12:21 <Kevin L™> I have been baking cookies. Have just been hit & miss.
13:12:52 <ynpvisitor71> The cookies?
13:13:03 <Dave from B> haha
13:13:30 <Dave from B> As many cookies as you've baked in your lifetime, you'd think you would have it down by now!:)
13:13:45 <Kevin L™> Cookies are getting watched. Geysers not so much. Have to start on Swedish Meatballs in a bit.
13:14:04 <Dave from B> Wish I could make it for dinner
13:14:16 <Kevin L™> It just takes time Dave. Made a double batch to send over to a friend.
13:14:26 <Betty> Kottbullar
13:14:26 <ynpvisitor71> Well I think BH is on strike.
13:15:03 <Eric> grand
13:15:04 <Eric> .
13:15:05 <Eric> .
13:15:05 <Eric> .
13:15:09 <Kevin L™> Grand
13:15:10 <Jake> :grand:
13:15:10 <Eric> :grand:
13:15:12 <Betty> :grand:
13:15:18 <Dave from B> not for me
13:15:34 <Jake> it pays to be on delays
13:15:36 <Eric> watch for it...nice start Dve
13:15:56 <Dave from B> nice
13:16:26 <ynpvisitor51> yay
13:16:26 <Betty> great start
13:23:21 <Jimbo Palladium> 8 minutes or so
13:25:30 <Jimbo Palladium> 10 - a pause, perhaps
13:25:50 <Jake> looking like at least a 6 hour pause
13:26:39 <Jimbo Palladium> Yep, no second
13:29:32 <ynpvisitor52> good to see Echinus being added to lifetime lists of Geysers observed in eruption
13:30:32 <Eric> Yes, nice post from Janet :-D
13:31:08 <ynpvisitor52> hope it continues with duration increasing
13:31:18 <Dave from B> Time to head out. Have a great evening everyone! Kevin, you'll be glad to know I pulled my 1982 Dodger Starter jacket out of mothballs and wore it to work today!
13:31:37 <Dave from B> GO Blue
13:32:45 <Kevin L™> Night Dave
13:33:33 <Jake> if Echinus is regular next summer, will NPS predict it? there's already not enough parking at Norris, no reason to give people reason to linger longer
13:34:20 <Kevin L™> They could install parking meters
13:34:47 <Jake> that are juuuust shorter than Echinus intervals
13:37:07 <JSJ> I usually hike into Norris using the ~1 mile long trail from the campground area.
13:37:24 <JSJ> The large pullout near the campground always has parking space.
13:37:51 <JSJ> I sooooo hope Echinus stays regular until next summer.
13:38:04 <Jake> good point, another place to install parking meters
13:38:35 <Eric> Add them to the grand benches?
13:39:12 <Jake> it's definitely quicker to park there and walk (even if you're a slow walker) than do the slow trip(s) around the parking lot w/o finding a spot
13:41:47 <Jake> the Grand eruption I saw in mid-August had so many people there, I did not enjoy it :( I was feeling a bit agoraphobic
13:42:29 <ynpvisitor52> If I remember correctly - only place predicitons were posted was at Norris ranger station. It's been a few (lots) years
13:43:02 <JSJ> Crowds are one reason I like to watch smaller things - less noise and less shoulder-to-shoulder.
13:43:10 <Jake> Echinus intervals were ~100 minutes so there would've been little value to having that information at Old Faithful
13:43:32 <ynpvisitor52> of
13:44:17 <JSJ> The best place to watch OF without crowds is from near Improbable on Geyser Hill.
13:44:59 <ynpvisitor52> I like watching from bench at Beehive with indy in eruption
13:45:55 <JSJ> That's also nice. Have yet to see a real-life Beehive-OF concerted eruption.
13:46:43 <ynpvisitor52> Was lucky this summer - Castle, OF, Beehive all from bench by Beehive
13:47:44 <ynpvisitor52> was that intermediate?
13:48:37 <Betty> headed out, night all
13:51:43 <Jake> adios
13:51:45 <Eric> Night Betty
13:56:45 <ynpvisitor52> last OF no posted to GT yet

15:02:20 <Eric> Quiet afternoon
15:09:54 <ynpvisitor58> talkataive group - must be focused on occasionsl raven fly by?
15:11:04 <Eric> If you have a really large monitor that you are viewing this page on, try refresh and let me know your thoughts.
15:13:17 <ynpvisitor58> either my onitor is not really large (22") or I missed something. didn't see any change
15:13:33 <ynpvisitor58> onitor = monitor
15:14:04 <Eric> resolution has to be over 1600 pixels wide
15:15:03 <ynpvisitor58> 1920 x 1080
15:15:14 <Eric> If over 1600 pixels wide and full screen, the video size actually shrinks slightly to give more chat room and not display larger than source resolution.
15:16:06 <Eric> I am looking into better columnar display of the widgets on the right too
15:16:30 <Eric> I don't like that they have to be the same height as the widget next to it.
15:18:46 <ynpvisitor58> I appreciate the recent updates - have no complaints. bigger display (longer list) of recent eruptions only recommendation
15:19:47 <Eric> Yes, I would like to see that widget scrollable for viewing the entire day if available.
15:22:06 <ynpvisitor58> got to go - hope beehive erupts before dark
15:23:21 <Kevin L™> zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

16:24:22 <Kitt> I called Kevin he will send text
16:24:31 <Ryan> I said 18:15 +/- 20min!
16:24:45 <Ryan> 08:06:35 ‹Ryan› But WTH - I'll put some cents down on 18:15 +/- 20min :D
16:25:16 <Kitt> there's the text
16:25:36 <Kevin L™> No driver?
16:25:55 <Kitt> how about that sky
16:26:05 <Ryan> Its gorgeous...
16:26:12 <Kitt> we sure know how to make a nice sunset in Wyoming
16:26:21 <Ryan> Someone zoomed in on BHI, but then zoomed out again...
16:26:34 <Kevin L™> Great!
16:27:10 <Ryan> Oh, what I'd give to be at the Overlook.
16:27:51 <Kitt> Old Faithful not due yet
16:27:58 <Ryan> DanS had BHI at 1818
16:28:22 <Kitt> oh look, people on boardwalk

16:34:20 <Ryan> Jeez... look at that...
16:35:09 <Kitt> so very pretty
16:35:27 <Kitt> I videoed my computer
16:35:51 <Ryan> Someone is hopefully screen capturing video. I got lots of frames.
16:36:29 <ynpvisitor51> I got a screenshot
16:37:10 <Kitt> that made my day
16:37:24 <Ryan> Yeah, that was amazing.
16:37:34 <Kitt> and I had literally just got on
16:38:12 <Kitt> I would say all of those people enjoyed the show
16:38:59 <Ryan> If BH did two shorts that interval lines up. It does seem to like to do two shorts in a row.
16:39:15 <Ryan> I could be wrong, but I'd guess tomorrow afternoon/evening - like 1500-1900.
16:39:30 <ynpvisitor33> Dodgers and Bee. Doesn't get any better!
16:39:53 <Kitt> have a good evening
16:40:12 <ynpvisitor41> agree 33!
16:40:15 <Ryan> Same, I am outtie - homework to do!
