22:45:33 <ynpvisitor72> Lion ie
23:23:40 <ynpvisitor53> Depression?
23:53:45 <ynpvisitor72> Indy?
23:54:02 <ynpvisitor72> Looks very much like it
23:54:11 <ynpvisitor53> Lion
23:55:01 <ynpvisitor72> So terribly wrong...
23:55:43 <ynpvisitor72> Something is still steaming below Lion, but it is not Indy
23:55:48 <ynpvisitor53> I think that was a minor
23:56:10 <ynpvisitor53> directly below Lion is where indy would appear
23:56:33 <ynpvisitor53> bee has been splashing
23:56:43 <ynpvisitor72> OK, thanks
23:58:51 <ynpvisitor53> Grotto is very happy
00:19:00 <ynpvisitor53> Old Faithful
00:20:04 <ynpvisitor53> 0218 wc
00:25:40 <ynpvisitor53> Lion appears to have gone to bed
00:29:44 <ynpvisitor53> sure wish indy would wake up
00:59:42 <ynpvisitor53> calling it a night
00:59:58 <ynpvisitor53> I think bee is waiting for the moon to set again
01:00:07 <ynpvisitor53> enjoy
01:44:54 <ynpvisitor57> OF 0343
02:47:36 <ynpvisitor72> Steam plume in the Lion/Beehive area
02:48:03 <ynpvisitor72> Looks like BH to me.
02:49:39 <ynpvisitor57> hard to say
02:49:48 <ynpvisitor57> did you see the start?
02:50:24 <ynpvisitor57> didn't look big enough for BH.
02:51:43 <ynpvisitor57> it is time for BH.
02:53:39 <ynpvisitor72> I did not see the start, but there was a nice tall plume typical of BH.
02:55:15 <ynpvisitor57> it did look in the right place to me
02:56:21 <ynpvisitor72> I won't rule ut Lion, but it is not long since Lion ended its previous series.
02:56:58 <ynpvisitor57> agree, time don't seem right for Lion.
02:57:07 <ynpvisitor72> Someone more knowledgable will sot it out from the overnight capture.
02:57:22 <ynpvisitor57> I think it was BH.
02:58:38 <ynpvisitor57> think I missed the first 3 minutes
03:19:27 <ynpvisitor57> OF 0518
04:09:09 <Rice> What is the 2nd eruption to the right of Grand?
04:09:46 <Rice> Giant or Grotto
04:49:38 <ynpvisitor33> Not sure
05:23:23 <ynpvisitor103> nick/wickedcoolguy
05:33:18 <Dave from B> Good morning everyone
06:03:46 <Dave from B> I love Spring snow storms. Wake up this morning and all evidence is gone!!!
06:04:09 <Dave from B> Just like that 2.6" has disappeared
06:23:01 <Ryan> morning
06:31:13 <Dave from B> Morning Ryan
06:38:56 <Dave from B> A beautiful looking day (but cold) in the basin
06:39:25 <Ryan> Indeed, Micah is on his way there
06:39:34 <Dave from B> Arriving today?
06:39:43 <Ryan> I have never wanted someone else to see Giant as much as I want him to, haha.
06:39:48 <Ryan> Tomorrow
06:40:20 <Dave from B> Has there been any rockpile news since park opening?
06:40:37 <Ryan> Not that I know of
06:47:46 <ynpvisitor603> Hi Dave, there was some info posted yesterday in the chat
06:49:05 <ynpvisitor603> 21:01:11 ‹ynpvisitor90› Me too. Fan and Mortar also seem pretty quiet. Long regular cycles with okay water in Fan's vents, but not much water in BV or LM.
06:50:48 <Ryan> Sounds like its usual spring slow down
06:58:47 <ynpvisitor603> Interesting thing was Spa
06:59:42 <ynpvisitor603> Grotto start 1748, Spa 1837
07:01:28 <ynpvisitor603> I'm not an expert on it by a long shot, but last year I spent some time there during our fall trip. I thought Spa usually didn't start until a while into Grotto, didn't think just 50 minutes into Grotto was a normal timeframe
07:07:52 <Dave from B> Art, the man you want to find if you like the Grotto group is Brian from Texas. He spends almost every daylight minute in that area when he is in the park
07:10:08 <Dave from B> And, of course, DaveM knows much about that area as well
07:38:06 <Dave from B> Lion should be waking up soon
07:43:11 <ynpvisitor57> Maybe if you tossed some fish its way Dave.
07:45:08 <J. Seaborgium> I wonder if lions eat fish - they don't get much opportunity in the wild
07:45:23 <Betty> morning all
07:45:46 <ynpvisitor57> Hi
07:47:19 <ynpvisitor603> Thanks Dave, most of the knowledge I have is from speaking with Brian. From what I understand that Spa seems really soon into a Grotto eruption, but was hoping others knew if that was odd.
07:48:57 <Dave from B> Jimbo, Lions eat whatever they want to!
07:49:57 <Dave from B> 603, that is what I remember as well
07:50:09 <ynpvisitor57> A lion is just a big cat. I bet it would like fish.
08:13:29 <Eric> Morning
08:14:15 <Betty> morning Eric
08:15:21 <Eric> everything went early this morning
08:28:54 <ynpvisitor95> That is what happens when you sleep late.
08:34:22 <Betty> Daisy
08:36:11 <Dave from B> Good afternoon, Eric!:)
08:36:19 <Dave from B> and Betty
08:36:37 <Betty> hi Dave from B
08:38:40 <Eric> It's only 9:30am! I have a LONG time before afternoon :-P
08:39:55 <Dave from B> hahaha
08:42:39 <Betty> Aurum?
08:42:49 <Betty> no
08:56:44 <ynpvisitor94> Grotto?
08:57:27 <Eric> looks like the right area
09:13:56 <Dave from B> Someone needs to wakeup the kitty
09:27:58 <Eric> meow
09:28:17 <Eric> I wonder if we had any giant action with the grotto?
09:29:26 <Dave from B> It will be fun to watch Giant patterns if we get enough eruptions this year
09:29:44 <Dave from B> I know in the past it has liked Grotto marathons
09:32:11 <ynpvisitor94> something to right of grotto
09:33:01 <Dave from B> it is time for Riverside
09:33:47 <ynpvisitor94> yes, but this puff was left of rside
09:35:11 <Dave from B> Could be Artemesia?
09:36:19 <Eric> that looks like riverside to me
09:36:27 <Eric> grand?
09:37:13 <Eric> never mind
09:49:55 <ynpvisitor20> looks like Mike Keller is there. Maybe he will have Giant info later
09:58:34 <ynpvisitor94> more Grotto area steam
10:03:24 <ynpvisitor1> Did Dave get his record snow?
10:03:58 <Dave from B> Yep...2.6" yesterday and it is all gone!
10:04:57 <ynpvisitor1> You will need your sun glasses Saturday. I hear 80, and oh those white legs.
10:05:58 <Dave from B> I'm very rarely in shorts, so no worried there!
10:06:05 <Dave from B> worries*
10:06:45 <ynpvisitor1> Not yours, all the neighbors
10:06:59 <ynpvisitor1> Did we loose Kevin today?
10:07:36 <ynpvisitor94> yep
10:14:03 <ynpvisitor1> Looks turbany
10:15:46 <Dave from B> Maybe he's at the post office looking for another package
10:15:58 <ynpvisitor94> NPS must have had a Castle report earlier their prediction is 2am
10:16:20 <ynpvisitor1> Will have to come back to the evening Grand. Enjoy
10:19:08 <ynpvisitor94> :grand:
10:19:26 <Dave from B> Thanks
10:20:11 <J. Seaborgium> Yes, looks Grandy!
10:20:29 <J. Seaborgium> (Or is it Grandsy?)
10:24:38 <ynpvisitor52> Save me from looking it up, how tall is grand anyway?
10:24:59 <ynpvisitor20> tall
10:25:30 <Eric> 50-100 ft?
10:25:40 <J. Seaborgium> I know 2nd burst starts can go over 200 feet
10:25:51 <J. Seaborgium> Which is why we love 'em
10:25:58 <J. Seaborgium> (I read that)
10:26:15 <ynpvisitor20> they call Grand the tallest predictable geyser, so I am thinking well over 100 for start
10:26:17 <Eric> You read that you love'em?
10:26:20 <Eric> :-P
10:26:36 <ynpvisitor20> taller than average OF
10:26:38 <J. Seaborgium> Typing before I think :-}
10:27:08 <J. Seaborgium> approaching 8 minutes
10:27:09 <Eric> pause?
10:27:24 <ynpvisitor52> SOmeone broke it, and Kevin is not even here
10:27:28 <ynpvisitor20> 2nd
10:27:31 <Eric> boooom
10:27:38 <ynpvisitor603> wow
10:27:43 <Eric> there is your 200ft :-D
10:27:59 <ynpvisitor20> that one did not look so tall to me, yet nice
10:28:20 <ynpvisitor20> maybe # 3?
10:28:25 <J. Seaborgium> It weren't bad
10:28:27 <ynpvisitor20> that quit right away
10:28:55 <ynpvisitor32> It was 194' 5 3/8"
10:29:08 <Eric> I think you are off by 1/2 inch
10:29:19 <ynpvisitor52> Is that by Dave's fish tape?
10:29:31 <J. Seaborgium> Hard to define the phase boundary
10:30:07 <ynpvisitor32> Depends on if it the seller's fish tape or the buyer's.
10:30:17 <ynpvisitor20> looking done
10:30:20 <ynpvisitor52> Someone needs to measure those trees.
10:30:30 <ynpvisitor20> are workers there today?
10:30:39 <ynpvisitor52> I see hats
10:30:42 <Eric> Yep...hard hats on far end
10:30:59 <Eric> or inspector inspectores
10:30:59 <ynpvisitor52> That does not say they are working?
10:31:46 <J. Seaborgium> It's funny, when I first went to YNP with my family in 1973, I don't remember Grand at all. OF, Castle, Grotto, Fountain, Clepsydra, Riverside (in the rain) I do recall.
10:31:49 <ynpvisitor32> Why do you need a hard hat if you are standing on the ground with nothing above you?
10:32:17 <ynpvisitor52> Government. They make everyting safe
10:32:17 <J. Seaborgium> Then I went there on a geology field trip I lucked into in the early 1990s, where I met Rick Hutchison
10:32:44 <ynpvisitor52> Well off, hold BH for me.
10:33:37 <J. Seaborgium> Saw OF, Daisy, Great Fountain, and Grand twice. I don't remember Beehive. Also went to the basin near Ojo Caliente that I believe is now closed and saw something erupt.
10:34:09 <J. Seaborgium> But I didn't know anything about Grand multiple bursts, so I don't know if I saw one or not.
10:34:22 <ynpvisitor603> 2C
10:34:36 <ynpvisitor603> 2 Burst
10:34:38 <J. Seaborgium> Now if I went back to the park, I'd try to see one. With my luck, I'd end up seeing six or seven singles.
10:34:50 <J. Seaborgium> Sure would like to see Fan and Mortar, though.
10:36:02 <J. Seaborgium> And as I've noted before, if Giant returns to a period of activity where it's going off every 7-10 days, I will get there again.
10:38:03 <Eric> what is up with the UGB static camera
10:38:07 <Eric> keeps going offline
10:38:51 <Eric> All other static cameras seem to be working today.
10:41:12 <Dave from B> Jimbo, hard hats are in case of things falling from the sky...maybe an osprey drops its catch
10:43:35 <J. Seaborgium> Thanks Dave, but I didn't ask about the hard hats. I definitely would not want to get fish-bombed, though.
10:44:00 <J. Seaborgium> Safety First
10:44:35 <ynpvisitor94> does the vec have a geyser info phone number?
10:44:57 <ynpvisitor32> Raining fish: https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/09/28/554242564/it-rained-fish-in-mexico-authorities-say-no-its-not-the-end-times-we-think
10:45:28 <ynpvisitor20> yes, 307-344-2750
10:45:43 <ynpvisitor20> press 1 for OF, press 2 for other predictable geysers
10:45:47 <ynpvisitor94> thanks
10:46:05 <ynpvisitor20> 307-344-2751 gets you the ranger desk
10:46:11 <Eric> or you can ask google :-D
10:46:32 <ynpvisitor20> there are also apps
10:46:57 <Eric> If you have an android device or a google home assistant, say "Okay Google, ask GeyserTimes for the prediction of Old Faithful"
10:47:34 <Eric> or any of the other predictions I believe
10:47:55 <Dave from B> or you can ask me:D
10:48:14 <Eric> google is easier :-P
10:49:22 <Eric> You could ask siri if you have an apple, but she doesn't really know anything about geysers.
10:50:22 <ynpvisitor94> they corrected their castle from 2am tomorrow to 2 pm today
10:51:52 <ynpvisitor94> i asked siri if I had an apple, she did not know :)
10:53:47 <ynpvisitor603> Anyone hear how the Mammoth to Norris road is now that it's open?
11:05:35 <Betty> hey, where´s Kevin today?
11:06:23 <ynpvisitor94> I think he is out buying a railroad
11:06:40 <Betty> :)
11:07:23 <ynpvisitor94> I really dont know, he asked me to take his shift, I did not ask why
11:09:38 <Betty> Lion
11:10:49 <Eric> finally
11:12:33 <Betty> maybe Kevin becomes Grandpa again
11:19:22 <Dave from B> my screen froze. Lion appears to be ie
11:20:27 <ynpvisitor94> the kitty woke and streched out initaly. :)
11:20:54 <Eric> faisy
11:21:21 <ynpvisitor94> initially
11:21:32 <Eric> Not in Italy?
11:21:44 <Betty> notaly
11:21:47 <Eric> I was sooo confused :-P
11:21:49 <ynpvisitor94> nope
11:22:21 <Eric> workers working!
11:22:53 <ynpvisitor32> I think the kitty was in Africa
11:55:12 <Dave from B> And, if any of you try the wild shrimp xanterra is serving this year, it is ours (sold to xanterra thru another distributor)
11:56:08 <Betty> yay
11:56:53 <ynpvisitor32> You should emboss your logo on them.
11:57:03 <Betty> they may have tasted on the wine and cheese evening 3 years ago
11:57:40 <Dave from B> Yes, the same product that was sampled on gazers a few Labor Day's ago:)
11:58:19 <Eric> I remember those shrimp! yummm
11:58:38 <Eric> and the beer :-D
11:58:56 <Betty> and the champaign
11:59:14 <Dave from B> haha. I even have a new Seahawks growler for Labor day 2019
12:00:26 <ynpvisitor32> If I was a seahawks fan I would be growling too
12:00:47 <Dave from B> :P
12:15:04 <ynpvisitor94> Castle
12:20:56 <ynpvisitor94> minor
12:27:19 <Betty> Lion
14:00:25 <Betty> Daisy
14:02:02 <Betty> time for sleep, night all
14:02:19 <Eric> night betty
14:02:36 <Eric> Nice day for an early BH
14:06:17 <ynpvisitor32> Anyday is nice for an early BH
14:10:20 <Eric> Agree 32!
14:11:07 <Eric> OF
14:11:29 <Dave from B> Lion was a series of 2?
14:15:04 <ynpvisitor94> yes only 2
14:19:05 <Kevin L™> Did I miss anything?
14:19:09 <Eric> Kevin!
14:19:14 <Eric> you made it back...
14:19:24 <Kevin L™> Sort of
14:19:47 <Kevin L™> You still on Joe?
14:22:32 <ynpvisitor93> i am here
14:23:00 <ynpvisitor93> logged out
14:26:19 <Dave from B> Welcome home ,Kevin
14:31:42 <Kevin L™> Hi Dave.
14:35:02 <Eric> You didn't really miss anything....everything went so early this morning
14:37:30 <Kevin L™> Looks like they didn't get any resurfacing done.
14:42:53 <Eric> Nope, I think they are still pulling BW up on the far side
14:50:17 <ynpvisitor42> 44° not that warm, but it looks wonderful!@
15:17:00 <Kevin L™> I guess the last OF was a short
15:20:25 <Dave from B> It seems we should get another Lion ini today
15:20:53 <Kevin L™> You got more fish for it?
15:21:36 <Dave from B> I'm sure I can find something...lots of goodies coming in....40th anniv sale begins Thursday
15:23:23 <Kevin L™> That sounds good. May have to drive up for that!
15:23:49 <Dave from B> 60# of fresh icelandic cod arrives tomorrow night
15:24:05 <Kevin L™> OHHHHHHH!!!!
15:24:24 <Eric> Kevin will take it all!
15:25:14 <Dave from B> I have a room if you're spending the night
15:26:35 <Kevin L™> I had some great Pacific Cod the other night but it has been a long time since I have seen any Icelandic Cod for sale.
15:27:46 <Dave from B> We found a supplier who sells really big thick loins. They weigh over 1# each
15:29:34 <Kevin L™> The old Showboat Casino used to have a seafood buffet on Wednesday that we would have our highway design section meetings at. Big thick cod, huge shrimp, and rainbow trout all for $3.
15:30:48 <Kevin L™> They also had big brownies full of walnuts and pecan pie to die for!
15:30:49 <Eric> Yes, but you could buy a home for $10 then too :-P
15:31:33 <Kevin L™> 3 bedroom 2 bath was $34,950 back then.
15:32:50 <Dave from B> I remember when my father sold the only house he owned for over $100,000 in 1990s. He thought it was an outrageous price for a house
15:33:08 <Kevin L™> I remember that because a friend bought one. They were debating about spending $32,950 and decided to buy. Went back Monday and the price was $2000 higher!
15:35:15 <Kevin L™> I bought my first one in 1985 for $51,000 and was so excited because the interest rate went from 12.5% to 11.5% from the time the offer was accepted until I signed the loan.
15:35:25 <Dave from B> Time to help Taylor close the market. Have a great evening everyone! BH before dark! You heard it here first:)
15:35:45 <Dave from B> No one could afford housing today if interest rates were high
15:36:02 <Kevin L™> Have fun. Bet she is busy getting redy for the sale.
15:36:45 <Kevin L™> Right now the dirt mine sits on goes for $100,000!
15:36:57 <Dave from B> Yep...lots of giveaways...poke samples, sauce tastings, guess the weight of the monster lobster in our tank for a giveaway basket, food truck....lots of fun
15:37:26 <Kevin L™> You should give kids goldfish in a bowl!
15:38:35 <Eric> Sashimi grade goldfish?
15:38:40 <Eric> Night Dave
15:39:40 <Kevin L™> He could probably get away with Walmart grade for that.
15:40:04 <Eric> I love poke...always get 3 or 4 kinds when in hawaii
15:41:28 <Kevin L™> I used to raise tropical fish when I was a kid. We used a couple of bathtubs and a 600 gallon tank we built in a friends basement. Kept the local fish store in business.
15:48:24 <Eric> haha...I have a friend who made money doing that as a kid too :-D
15:48:43 <Eric> raised tropical fish
15:50:36 <Kevin L™> It was a lot of fun. we had some great Angel Fish and some really nice Siamese Fighting fish among other things. Once I got out of high school and joined the Army the fish store went out of business.
15:52:44 <Kevin L™> I was hoping for Turban times today. :(
15:57:05 <Eric> Bummer....
16:08:47 <Kevin L™> I haven't seen anything that looks like a turban so far.
16:11:39 <ynpvisitor20> hopefully BH does not choose to go 18 hours again
16:12:17 <Michael> 14 hours would be just fine with me.
16:12:46 <Kevin L™> 14 would be perfect.
16:13:17 <ynpvisitor20> that kind of looks like Turban now
16:21:37 <ynpvisitor85> Grand
16:21:47 <ynpvisitor85> Or a big turban
16:22:00 <Kevin L™> I sure
16:22:08 <Kevin L™> Turban is in there somewhere!
16:22:16 <Kevin L™> Great lighting for it.
16:22:33 <ynpvisitor85> Vent gets no respect!
16:25:38 <ynpvisitor85> Almost as good as the one you missed this morning
16:31:52 <Kevin L™> Looking like a 1b
16:32:23 <ynpvisitor20> a bright, sunny one burst
16:32:59 <ynpvisitor20> nice long eruption
16:33:17 <ynpvisitor20> bet there are a few rainbows to be had
16:33:38 <Kevin L™> Pause
16:34:18 <ynpvisitor20> or end
16:34:28 <Kevin L™> Looks like end
16:34:40 <Michael> Time for a 1-burst Beehive.
16:34:53 <ynpvisitor20> not sure I have ever seen a 2nd burst after 12 minute mark
16:35:22 <Kevin L™> I hadn't seen a 15m Grand until last week.
16:36:44 <ynpvisitor20> Glad Andrew was there for Grand
16:37:05 <Kevin L™> Wish he would have posted Turban times.
16:45:02 <ynpvisitor85> Daisy
16:45:38 <Kevin L™> Good light on it too
16:50:36 <Kevin L™> OF taking its sweet time
16:53:26 <ynpvisitor85> yuk
16:53:29 <Michael> OF
16:55:13 <ynpvisitor85> That was worth missing Grand and Daisy for.
16:58:19 <ynpvisitor85> Well, I think BH has some time.
16:59:13 <Polly> Looks like I timed that wrong - missed Grand.
17:42:55 <Michael> MAstiff!!!?
17:43:10 <Michael> .
17:43:10 <Michael> .
17:43:11 <Michael> .
17:43:19 <Kevin L™> I like that!
17:43:43 <ynpvisitor58> :D
17:45:13 <ynpvisitor23> Right!
17:47:04 <Kevin L™> Castle
17:47:14 <ynpvisitor58> Grotto start
17:47:54 <Kevin L™> Depression may be ie also
17:48:17 <ynpvisitor58> woah
17:49:43 <ynpvisitor603> So wonder if Mastiff rolls signs on its own?
17:50:52 <ynpvisitor58> Great view down basin
17:51:18 <ynpvisitor> I left and you did not push the Indy button
17:51:28 <ynpvisitor603> Wow that’s a lot of steam
17:51:54 <Kevin L™> We may have pushed the Giant button.
17:52:12 <Michael> I can't wait to see a full report on what the heck is going on there.
17:53:13 <ynpvisitor> You should not let who ever is there go to dinner or bed.
17:53:54 <ynpvisitor45> sure looks like the big G
17:53:59 <ynpvisitor58> Is this text worthy?
17:54:02 <Art> Can we zoom in?
17:54:05 <ynpvisitor45> yes
17:55:28 <Russell> Good time to look at Depression . . .
17:56:09 <ynpvisitor45> Awesome, a Mastiff function
17:56:34 <ynpvisitor118> Mastiff!!
17:56:47 <ynpvisitor58> come on Indy, join in
17:57:36 <Art> Great lighting for this!
17:58:10 <Polly> Giant 1949 per GT
17:58:14 <Art> Giant 1949
17:58:16 <Art> !!!!
17:58:25 <Michael> Bijoumonkey must be a happy camper tonight.
17:59:00 <Kitt> I am so glad Andrew is there
17:59:03 <ynpvisitor20> yeah for Andrew
17:59:12 <ynpvisitor20> beautiful light
17:59:13 <Ryan> OMFG
17:59:30 <ynpvisitor21> is this mastiff AND Giant or a correction?
17:59:43 <Devin> Not to sound like a spoil sport but shouldn't we be able to see giant?
17:59:54 <Michael> Mastiff started, stopped, started again, then Giant went.
18:00:10 <ynpvisitor> I think he is celibate.
18:00:13 <Emily> hoooh baby
18:00:16 <ynpvisitor58> and Grotto started in the middle of all that
18:00:20 <ynpvisitor20> so nice of Giant to go before dark
18:00:24 <Kitt> when Giant first started you could possibly see spikes like Grand does
18:00:48 <ynpvisitor20> maybe someone will post the recap
18:01:13 <ynpvisitor21> yes please. recap with video!
18:01:40 <Devin> Hell of a way to end the day.
18:02:00 <Emily> yup
18:02:05 <Graham> Guess I need to do better on my predictions
18:02:33 <Graham> Didn't I day it would be Wed?
18:03:26 <Russell> My prediction was for sometime today.
18:03:54 <Graham> Well with real hot per o ds I was ptimistic after what I saw in Jan
18:04:14 <Ryan> On the phone with Micah when we got the text.
18:04:18 <Ryan> He not happy :-(
18:04:26 <Graham> But god prediction Russell
18:04:44 <Craig> Poor Micah ;P
18:04:47 <Graham> Why not HAPPY, MAYBE HE WILL SEE INE
18:05:02 <Kitt> I was expecting it tomorrow.
18:05:03 <Emily> hell be at anemene when it starts
18:05:10 <Graham> it can go in a week
18:05:34 <Kitt> Often a big geyser chooses my birthday, but I am glad it went when Andrew could see it
18:05:38 <Ryan> Micah says he appreciates your condolences....
18:05:39 <ynpvisitor> I wont be there for a month
18:05:54 <Emily> I have a question, with the build up of hot periods over these past few days, was it predicited to do something?
18:05:55 <Graham> Let's see if there are more hot periods. Interesting Mastiff stopped and started
18:06:30 <Graham> It only had 2 hot periods I think, but none had been seen fr a year
18:06:39 <Michael> WE wanted it to do something great, if that counts as a prediction.
18:06:51 <Emily> ok
18:06:59 <Graham> WE did good
18:07:06 <Emily> And would this be considered mastiff function?
18:07:10 <Kitt> Andrew just sent me a photos with signs washed
18:07:23 <Graham> I was encouraged that it was doing more stuff
18:07:23 <Ryan> Micah: "At least Anemone loves me for who I am..."
18:07:26 <Russell> I kind of wish it would've gone yesterday when I was there . . . but the visibility was so bad it's just as well that it waited.
18:07:28 <ynpvisitor> Didn't we have a report of the sign being moved this winter?
18:07:43 <Devin> Good Night everyone! I am glad to have spent this exciting moment with you!
18:07:44 <Kitt> yes
18:07:52 <Craig> o/
18:08:02 <Emily> Goodnight devin
18:08:10 <Graham> Glad you got to see it had a hot period tho Russell. Hopefully we will see more eruptions this year
18:08:23 <Craig> :gt:
18:08:42 <Emily> well, ill just hope it goes later in the season when I am around :)
18:09:29 <Emily> though, I would find a way if things look better in the summer to get there on a weekend
18:09:50 <Ryan> Well I know where I will be for all 6 days I am there...
18:10:37 <Art> Well that was awesome
18:10:56 <Suzanne> I just joined.. did Andrew report a hot period this evening before Mastiff?
18:11:39 <Michael> No. But maybe he saw Mastiff from a distance
18:11:46 <Graham> Just, yawn, two Mastiff eruptions
18:12:14 <ynpvisitor> All I can say is the cam does not do justice to a geyser named Giant.
18:12:15 <Emily> First eruption was barking up the wrong tee though
18:12:26 <ynpvisitor23> So amaizing sigo the sun set
18:12:43 <ynpvisitor23> With
18:12:54 <Ryan> Andrew has a photo of Giant he sent to tara and kitt with the sign rolled and Giant erupting in the background.
18:13:01 <Craig> Could you ask for better lighting?
18:13:11 <ynpvisitor23> I wish I was there
18:13:14 <Suzanne> awesome!
18:13:21 <Craig> Giant at sunset. Yes please.
18:13:22 <Russell> Graham - I hope so too. I'm pretty pleased with just seeing the activity for the few days preceding the eruption.
18:13:24 <Emily> ive been cheering him up with some prequel memes
18:13:44 <Craig> Prequel memes inbound
18:14:17 <ynpvisitor23> How long has it been erupting for
18:14:19 <ynpvisitor23> How long has it been erupting for
18:14:27 <Emily> 1949 was the statr
18:14:39 <Emily> hi Mara
18:14:46 <Mara> woah, haven't seen this many people here in a while!
18:15:03 <Mara> it's my mother's birthday and she is very excited Giant is erupting today
18:15:04 <Ryan> Has a start capture been posted yet?
18:15:14 <Emily> Giant day isnt it
18:15:23 <ynpvisitor58> And BH is due to boot
18:15:59 <Craig> oh hi Mara
18:16:04 <Kevin L™> I am not sure. There isn't a camop for tonight so I took it.
18:16:58 <ForestBewithyou> Did grand ever erupt or was it cloudy
18:17:10 <Kevin L™> Have to keep the cam low or the light kills the surface.
18:17:11 <ynpvisitor> 2 clear ones today
18:17:26 <Kevin L™> Grand was 1821
18:17:39 <Kevin L™> Bee burp
18:17:52 <ynpvisitor> One had a fantastic 2nd
18:17:57 <Emily> Now I have one quest, lets go pile, let go pile
18:19:12 <Kevin L™> Full room tonight!
18:19:31 <ynpvisitor> So full, I do not have a number
18:20:01 <Emily> 34 by count
18:20:06 <ForestBewithyou> Yea I was looking at the nps prediction
18:20:39 <Ryan> Well, now I know where Giant is on the webcam.
18:21:01 <Kevin L™> :)
18:21:03 <Casey> Did I miss anything?
18:21:13 <ynpvisitor> Until the wind blows
18:21:17 <ynpvisitor> No
18:21:25 <Kevin L™> Depression looks hot Casey
18:21:28 <Michael> Just some steam.
18:21:41 <Casey> Depression is in a different place than I remember
18:21:51 <ynpvisitor42> :)
18:22:31 <Casey> Good to have a chance to log on. Thank you for the text message, whoever sent it.
18:23:17 <ForestBewithyou> If I was a visitor there and I saw that I would be sprinting over there
18:23:37 <Ryan> That is so beautiful
18:23:48 <ynpvisitor58> what a view
18:25:27 <ForestBewithyou> Wow
18:25:47 <ForestBewithyou> Geysers are so cool with sunsets
18:26:03 <ynpvisitor58> especially rare ones :)
18:26:12 <Emily> I agree, best eruption of any geyser I have seen is a backlit fan and mortar
18:26:16 <Kevin L™> Glad Giant went in the light with witnesses.
18:26:27 <ForestBewithyou> what would make it even with
18:26:36 <Russell> So, based on what I observed between 4/20 and 4/23, short Grotto eruptions (right around an hour) led to hot periods or near hot periods at Giant. The hot period I saw yesterday was on the next Grotto start after a 52 min. Grotto eruption. That seems consistent with today's activity, judging from the GT posts.
18:26:41 <ForestBewithyou> Even better would be a steamboat
18:27:23 <Emily> so in other words, grotto eruptions seem to induce hot periods at giant or longer pauses in Bijiou?
18:27:55 <ForestBewithyou> So I might be going to Yellowstone again for the second time what geysers should I try to see
18:28:11 <Ryan> Not Giant :p
18:28:15 <Michael> Now I have to go watch Steve Bezore's video of Mastiff + Giant on YouTube, as a virtual replay.
18:28:17 <Emily> Id probably start with what geysers have you seen
18:28:21 <ForestBewithyou> Lol
18:28:39 <Kevin L™> Grand, Beehive, Daisy, Great Fountain, Fountain.
18:28:41 <Emily> I mean, I would ask the question what have you seen?
18:28:59 <ForestBewithyou> I saw all the predictable ones except great fountain and castle
18:29:26 <ForestBewithyou> I saw beehive
18:29:29 <Kevin L™> Beehice is a must see.
18:29:32 <Emily> those are great ones to see, Id also see beehive if you havent
18:29:38 <ForestBewithyou> Umm there might be more but I don't rember
18:29:46 <ForestBewithyou> I did see grotto
18:29:49 <ForestBewithyou> I saw grotto
18:30:02 <Polly> And there was a Grotto with a strong Spa that started about 50 minutes into Grotto 2 days ago that Russell caught.
18:30:10 <Kitt> Fluffy
18:30:10 <Michael> OF
18:30:14 <Kevin L™> Other fun ones are Depression, Aurum, Grotto start (from the back side) Grotto Fountain
18:30:23 <Emily> Oblong, but that isnt doing anything
18:30:35 <Michael> Tough to say...A lot of my favorite mid-size geysers aren't active this year.
18:30:39 <Emily> Oblong, come back! I miss you so much
18:30:54 <ynpvisitor> Why go run to see steam, when you can see of?
18:31:06 <Michael> Cliff Geyser and Black Sand Basin is a nice area.
18:31:06 <ynpvisitor> Vixon
18:31:13 <Polly> Aw, Fluffy!
18:31:14 <Ryan> This is a scene you dont see here often.
18:31:22 <ForestBewithyou> I did see vixen
18:31:22 <Ryan> 30+ people watching Old Faithful!
18:31:30 <Emily> FLuffy at night is fun
18:31:37 <Emily> from Geyser hill no less
18:31:55 <Emily> Best part is when you can hear the water hit the firehole
18:32:27 <Michael> Lion is a great geyser, but kind of tricky to see.
18:32:38 <ForestBewithyou> I want to hopefully get lucky and see fan and mortar
18:33:20 <Kitt> well I guess I should go finish eating dinner
18:33:28 <Emily> That one is awesome. Likely sleeping atm but I think it will come back juneish
18:33:34 <Kevin L™> Thanks again Kitt.
18:33:34 <Polly> Bye Kitt
18:33:41 <Emily> bye kitt
18:33:48 <Kitt> you are welcome
18:33:55 <Kitt> aw, so pretty
18:34:02 <Kitt> Giant in the pink
18:34:15 <Russell> ForestBewithyou: when are you going to be in the park?
18:34:23 <ForestBewithyou> Thanks for the imput for the geysers and I think I am going in June so
18:34:56 <Ryan> F&M in June would indeed be very lucky
18:34:58 <Emily> always can hope for the walk up
18:35:06 <Kitt> June
18:35:22 <Kitt> I resisted running in this week for my birthday
18:35:55 <ForestBewithyou> Ok thanks I got to go so thanks again for the input
18:36:36 <Kevin L™> Best thing to do is sit and wait. Amazing what you will see.
18:36:47 <Kitt> ok, going to finish eating dinner
18:37:00 <Kitt> so happy Andrew is enjoying Giant
18:37:10 <Kitt> Sorry Micah wasn't already there
18:37:38 <Kitt> Maybe Oblong will wake up
18:38:04 <Emily> I'd support that
18:40:29 <Kevin L™> I guess we can call Castle a major.
18:40:46 <Michael> Yup. I was going to say the same thing.
18:42:51 <Kevin L™> That was a fun evening even without BH
18:43:06 <Emily> Goodnight
18:43:11 <Kevin L™> Night
18:43:21 <Casey> Night
18:55:49 <ynpvisitor111> second Mastiff and Giant start https://youtu.be/7y2sn1oJswo
19:01:20 <Polly> Thanks for the capture! I could see water from both Mastiff and Giant :)
19:01:52 <ynpvisitor111> yw
19:04:59 <ynpvisitor> I thought Giant went for hours and hours?
19:07:17 <Michael> Usually it runs out of water in 60-70 minutes.
19:07:28 <ynpvisitor59> nice spikes in capture
19:08:00 <ynpvisitor59> Giantess can go for hours and hours
19:08:05 <Michael> Andrew just posted a duration of 68 minutes.
19:08:14 <ynpvisitor58> Steamboat too
19:08:47 <ynpvisitor59> the water phase of steamboat doesn't usually last very long
19:08:55 <ynpvisitor59> it has a long steam phase
19:10:08 <ynpvisitor> Well, Andrew broke BH, so I am out of here.
19:10:32 <ynpvisitor59> Andrew was no where near Beehive
19:11:06 <ynpvisitor59> Beehive has been pulling longer intervals the last few eruptions
19:11:40 <Michael> Beehive is easily suggestible. It even knows whether KevinL is away from his computer 1,000 miles away.
19:12:37 <ynpvisitor58> Is it unusual, though that Grotto was erupting with Giant as was the case tonight?
19:12:55 <ynpvisitor59> no
19:14:34 <Michael> I think Giant doesn't really "notice" Grotto unless it's been going for 4+ hours.
19:15:10 <Michael> Then again, Grotto's activity is different the last year or so, so everything I know is wrong.
19:16:05 <ynpvisitor58> OK, so a Grotto start is not a bad omen for Giant. Good to know.
19:18:27 <ynpvisitor58> well, I guess BH didn't want to steal the limelight from Giant
19:20:26 <Kevin L™> Would not surprise me to see a no Indy
19:23:10 <Michael> At this point, I'd almost prefer it to wait until moonlight takes over.
19:23:44 <Kevin L™> I think you are right
19:27:15 <ynpvisitor59> Old Faithful
19:27:47 <ynpvisitor59> last one must have been a short
19:28:40 <Kevin L™> Must have been
19:31:34 <ynpvisitor59> Daisy
19:31:37 <ynpvisitor59> ie
19:43:21 <Kevin L™> Pretty bright right now
20:13:13 <Michael> Not sure, but I think BHI is going.
20:13:21 <Michael> Pretty sure, actually.
20:13:41 <ynpvisitor59> I was wondering the same thing
20:14:02 <Kevin L™> Looks like it
20:14:34 <Kitt> indy
20:14:36 <Kitt> ding
20:14:37 <Kitt> ding
20:15:03 <Michael> Andrew posted hot period details on GT. Summary: Mastiff came up and erupted without waiting for hardly anything else.
20:15:24 <Kevin L™> Bee
20:15:30 <Kitt> Beehive
20:16:01 <Kevin L™> Not shabby lighting for it either.
20:16:31 <Michael> Better than at least half the daylight eruptions I've seen.
20:16:34 <Kitt> hey Cynthia, isn't Beehive pretty at night
20:19:31 <Kitt> my sister is enjoying her first streaming cam Beehive
20:19:50 <Kevin L™> Nice
20:22:13 <Kevin L™> My wife says her Dr likes to watch the cam between patients.
20:22:58 <Betty> Evening all
20:23:02 <ynpvisitor92> Happy Birthday early Kitt
20:23:04 <Kevin L™> Bad timing Betty
20:23:29 <Betty> Good to see Giant had erupted
20:23:57 <Betty> Oh, it’s ok, Kevin
20:24:20 <Michael> Hi Betty.
20:24:36 <Betty> hi Michael
20:26:05 <Betty> so Dave was wrong with his daylight bee eruption
20:26:40 <Betty> it was a nice moonlight eruption
20:27:28 <Michael> Tomorrow it should be daylight, unless something strange happens.
20:28:48 <Betty> Yep. Bye all. Work is calling
20:29:04 <Kitt> bye Betty
20:29:13 <Michael> Bye Betty.
20:29:28 <Kevin L™> Work???? Have a good day!
20:29:50 <Kitt> Kevin you still work
20:30:00 <Kitt> You just feed chickens and such
20:31:20 <Kevin L™> :) I guess you could call camop work.
20:31:39 <Kevin L™> lousy pay though
20:35:39 <Kitt> Well time for bed
20:35:50 <Kitt> It was a great evening though
20:35:59 <Kitt> Night
20:36:12 <Kevin L™> Night
20:38:29 <Michael> night, Kitt.
21:02:44 <Michael> Lion
21:11:23 <Michael> OF
21:36:45 <Michael> Grotto or Artemisia ie. Pretty sure it's not Giant.
