06:28:09 <Joe> there may be creatures in the meadow, cannot focus on them yet
06:29:45 <Kat> What kind of creatures?
06:34:23 <Joe> Bison for sure
06:35:29 <LindaG> Big dark looming creatures lol
06:35:34 <Kat> :) be nice if they brought in the Wapitis!
06:35:46 <LindaG> Good morning Joe and Kat
06:36:13 <LindaG> And all!
06:36:34 <Kat> Morning Joe and Linda! How was the rest of the shift last night LindaG,
06:36:44 <Joe> Or just 'darklies' had to be careful there, don't want to be accused of anything :)
06:37:22 <LindaG> Joe, 😊
06:37:29 <Kat> Grotto?
06:37:33 <LindaG> Shift was good
06:37:41 <Kat> or Grand?
06:37:48 <LindaG> Nothing g exciting g happened
06:38:00 <Joe> Grand
06:38:07 <LindaG> Yay
06:39:18 <LindaG> Joe, should I take question mark off grand from yesterday or leave. Vogel put an E time on for a few mi utes earlier
06:40:03 <Joe> I would take the ? off
06:40:24 <LindaG> Ok
06:43:36 <Joe> I like Mike Vogel and his e times, helps prove what you thought you saw :)
06:43:37 <LindaG> Done
06:44:42 <LindaG> 😊 it does help. I was 95% sure but all that steam plays games on your eyes.
06:45:50 <LindaG> Grand going big today!
06:52:18 <KittyM> Good morning, all. That Grand was beautiful!

07:01:54 <Joe> You have a bedcan??
07:02:29 <Kat> lol hAHAHAHA
07:02:53 <LindaG> Joe, lol, conjures up strange thoughts
07:03:08 <Kat> That takes me laces I'm not sure I want to go! :)
07:03:20 <Kat> places*
07:03:38 <LindaG> 😆
07:04:26 <Joe> I have seen little kittens use a can as a hiding place bot not a bed
07:04:40 <Joe> but**
07:04:56 <Kat>
07:05:10 <Kat> Whats with all this fog??

07:07:27 <LindaG> Joe, just testing new ways to protect against virus
07:08:33 <LindaG> Morning KevinS
07:09:35 <KevinS> Morning to all. Halo
07:09:41 <Kat> Morning KeinS
07:09:48 <Kat> KevinS*
07:09:54 <Kat> Halo
07:09:57 <LindaG> 😊
07:11:00 <Cooper> Well, Science O state and National are cancled, all afterschool activityirs are cancleed, and school is closed march 16th, to march 27th.
07:11:06 <LindaG> That's pretty in a strange way
07:11:13 <LindaG> Cooper, morning
07:11:29 <Cooper> Hi Lind
07:11:31 <LindaG> Cooper, 🙁
07:11:32 <Cooper> Hi Linda
07:11:59 <LindaG> Cooper, you'll just have to watch geysers
07:12:51 <Cooper> I know, such a pain.
07:13:10 <Cooper> especially because I hate geysers:p
07:13:32 <LindaG> It's the price you have to pay
07:13:51 <Kat> Cooper, morning
07:14:00 <Cooper> Hi Kat
07:14:07 <Cooper> and worst bit is... well...
07:14:49 <LindaG> Steamboat today, that's my prediction, 13:00
07:15:21 <Cooper> I have had a cough, sore throat, a little bit of shortness of breath for the past week. Felling Better, but, well I am beginning to think I came into contact with someone who had, and then 8 days later, I got my symptoms.
07:15:45 <Cooper> but because I did not have a fever, and did not feel bad, I decided to go about my normal activities.
07:15:51 <LindaG> Your parents know?
07:15:58 <Kat> I agree - but this evening or overnight!
07:16:27 <Cooper> I do not think I have it, and neither do my Parents, because medicine was able to treat it perfectly. But, you never know.
07:17:36 <Cooper> I mean, I have not heard of Mucinex treating COVID.
07:18:23 <KevinS> Can’t buy mucinex here
07:19:03 <LindaG> Unless tested you'll never know
07:20:00 <Cooper> my doctor said, no need to get tested*** forgot that bit out:)
07:20:02 <LindaG> KevinS, I just bought some robitussin, trying to imagine what you would need if you couldnt get into a hospital
07:20:06 <Cooper> but still, I never know.
07:20:10 <KevinS> State of Arkansas announced yesterday 6 people have it. What’s worse, a grand total of just 30 people have been tested.
07:20:22 <Kat> Medications only treat symptoms - no meds for Coronavirus ae available!
07:20:46 <Cooper> 49 here Kevin.
07:20:50 <Cooper> OF
07:20:56 <LindaG> Kat, I know, just to ease symptoms
07:21:07 <Kat> No OF
07:22:14 <LindaG> Did you come to OF early?
07:22:14 <Cooper> No OF:)
07:22:33 <KevinS> At least I have access to plenty of food. I’m a food buyer and have a warehouse full right next to me.
07:22:36 <Cooper>
07:22:47 <Ryan (-174)> I just assume I will get it eventually.
07:22:55 <Cooper> same
07:23:07 <Ryan (-174)> I am more concerned with navigating my way through the ensuing panic.
07:23:12 <LindaG> OF is pretty
07:23:35 <Ryan (-174)> And I am more afraid that I will have it and not know it because my symptoms will likely be mild.
07:23:46 <Ryan (-174)> Then I give it to someone who gets very sick, or dies.
07:23:59 <KevinS> My biggest concern is weather or not I get to go in the park at the end of May. How said is that.
07:24:08 <Cooper> I am most worried about the effect on the Global Economy(I know that is not something a 13 year old would usually be worried about)
07:24:33 <LindaG> KevinS, my biggest is whether I get to the Grand Canyon 🙁
07:24:37 <Ryan (-174)> Not that sad, KevinS.
07:24:43 <Ryan (-174)> and LindaG
07:24:49 <Ryan (-174)> Theres only so much you can do and control.
07:25:03 <Ryan (-174)> Take care of yourself, and be congizant of those around you.
07:25:10 <LindaG> Cooper, justified worry, it's your future
07:25:14 <Ryan (-174)> Otherwise, just keep living life.
07:25:17 <KevinS> Two steamboats is not enough!
07:25:29 <Ryan (-174)> I am still going caving, and going to the park, and going to work.
07:25:33 <Cooper> Kevin, in June, I am going, unless they shit the parks down. But personally I think the cases will have either died down from heat, or reached a infliction point.
07:25:47 <LindaG> KevinS, well give us a prediction
07:25:54 <Ryan (-174)> I am just distancing myself from grandparents, etc.
07:26:09 <Ryan (-174)> I think SB in the next 36hrs.
07:26:11 <LindaG> Oh poor grandparents
07:26:21 <Kat> I am distancing myself from everyone!
07:26:31 <LindaG> Kat, me too
07:27:56 <KevinS> I think the basin heat pattern shows on today’s logger, so I would say 30-42 hours at least.
07:28:18 <Ryan (-174)> Yeah, I think we are seeing minor activity now.
07:28:43 <LindaG> OF
07:29:07 <KittyM> fog cleared just in time

08:05:46 <Joe> I hope I can keep this "view" for a few more years, but after tuesdays events you never know, this is the second time a doctor has said "this usually affects both eyes" SCARY

08:44:36 <LindaG> 😊
08:45:37 <Kat> Halo Lori S,
08:46:33 <Lori S> pretty morning
08:51:49 <Lori S> Looks like a gorgeous day all over Yellowstone
08:52:11 <Kat> Sure does
08:57:09 <Kat> Love those 5 vents all in a row!
08:57:50 <Lori S> I was just thinking "Who would walk there seeing those vents steaming?"
08:59:57 <Kat> I really like them - only see when it's really cold
09:01:05 <Mike J> A good Friday morning to all
09:01:58 <Mike J> (Not "Good Friday". That's next month.)
09:02:10 <Kat> :)
09:02:15 <Kat> Morning Mike
09:02:27 <Lori S> :-} morning
09:03:36 <Kat> Split Cone
09:04:26 <Ryan (-174)> Its friday the 13th
09:04:29 <Ryan (-174)> The best friday!
09:04:38 <Mike J> A sunny day in the basin and it just happened I put on Beethoven's 6th - the one they used in Fantasia with all th dancing sprites. A nice morning.
09:04:51 <Lori S> 13 is my lucky #. Hi Ryan
09:05:03 <Kat> Nice Mike J,
09:05:10 <Ryan (-174)> Morning.
09:05:20 <Ryan (-174)> Wonderful week in PA.
09:05:24 <Mike J> Poo-poo to Friday the 13th
09:05:25 <Kat> Ryan (-174), Good Morning
09:05:30 <Ryan (-174)> Warm, the forest is exploding with life again.
09:05:43 <Kat> OF 0905
09:05:44 <LindaG> OF
09:06:00 <Ryan (-174)> Went to two new caves yesterday near my home (both for me and in general). I was number 1 in one cave and number 3 in the other
09:06:01 <Mike J> We've had pretty solid rain here in Phoenix, and the sun shines here for the first time in a while. Feeling a bit of rebirth
09:07:41 <Kat> You needed the rain right Mike?
09:07:46 <Ryan (-174)> The one cave I found. Named it Upshot-Knothole Cave.
09:08:09 <Ryan (-174)> I am on a nuclear weapons history kick right now and like the names of the text programs.
09:08:24 <Ryan (-174)> MY favorites are Upshot-Knothole, Buster-Jangle, and Castle Romeo.
09:08:34 <Kat> I used to love caving - last one was in West VA
09:08:37 <Ryan (-174)> Gonna start giving caves those names :D
09:08:44 <Ryan (-174)> Which one, Kat?
09:09:02 <Joe> If you buy a lottery ticket on Friday the 3/13, someone will become richer (possibly you} on Pie day :)
09:09:32 <Kat> Don't remember the name - near Franklin - has since been closed I believe!
09:09:36 <Mike J> Kat yes we need rain. And I'm not complaining. As a native, I love these long-period rains. It's just nice to get a day or two in between.
09:09:49 <Mike J> Another big storm coming through middle of next week, and I'll revel in every moment.
09:09:55 <Ryan (-174)> Kat - that narrows it down to several hundred caves haha.
09:10:00 <Ryan (-174)> Was it a commercial cave or undeveloped?
09:10:06 <Ryan (-174)> That norrws it quite a lot
09:10:20 <Kat> Totally undeveloped! West of Harrisonburg
09:10:59 <Ryan (-174)> Off top of my head, common undveloped caves near Franklin: Kee, Blood, Hamilton, Trout, New Trout, and Nutt.
09:11:20 <Kat> Are any of those closed now?
09:11:40 <Ryan (-174)> Do you remember what the entrance was like: very close to the road, up on a cliff side, etc?
09:12:02 <Ryan (-174)> Trout was closed for a while because of bats. Its since reopened on a limited permit only basis.
09:12:04 <Kat> I am insure of th rrasom for c.osure - but last timeI went there it was closed for sure
09:12:21 <Kat> Tout may be it! Bats galore!
09:12:27 <Ryan (-174)> Big entrance above the road? Now has a huge gate on it?
09:12:36 <Kat> Trout*
09:12:46 <Kat> Yes
09:12:50 <Kat> Yes
09:12:54 <Ryan (-174)> That is Trout Cave.
09:13:32 <Ryan (-174)> I have been to the entrance but have never been in it. They only recently reopened it for permits and I have not had a chance to go yet. I have been to New Trout and Hamilton which are on the same hillside just a couple hundred feet away.
09:13:53 <Ryan (-174)> Thats really cool you got to go there. It is a West Virginia classic!
09:14:06 <Kat> I had a great time - nice belly crawl and water running through - huge open room...I will never forget it!
09:14:47 <Ryan (-174)> There is another similar cave nearby called Sinnett-Thorn.
09:15:10 <Ryan (-174)> It has a couple thusand virginia big ear bats that live in it. When you visit the big room the bats fly around you. It is so cool!
09:15:41 <Ryan (-174)> Trout Cave Entrance
09:15:53 <Kat> Used to live in Shenandoah Valley - but went there when I lived in Delaware! Oh what I would give to do some more spelunking!
09:16:09 <Ryan (-174)> Bats in Sinnett-Thorn Cave
09:16:57 <Kat> Thats it Ryan - Trout Cave entrance
09:17:15 <Kat> There wee definitley a lot of bats when I did it
09:17:20 <Kat> were*
09:17:25 <Ryan (-174)> Still is.
09:17:33 <Ryan (-174)> It is recovering slowly from the WNS epidemic
09:18:13 <Ryan (-174)> The other big one in the area I got to do was Hellhole Cave. Its another big bat hibernacula.
09:18:16 <Kat> Not far past the entrance the cave narrows to the left and you crawl!
09:18:36 <Ryan (-174)> We got access last summer and did two trips to service bat monitoring equipment.
09:18:43 <Ryan (-174)> The entrance is beyond description:
09:18:47 <Kat> I love your cave posts and am jealous!
09:19:10 <Ryan (-174)>
09:19:19 <Ryan (-174)>
09:19:29 <Ryan (-174)>
09:20:03 <Ryan (-174)> That entrance is supremely beautiful. A waterfall cascades in the pit and you rappel in next to it.
09:20:13 <Lori S> nice photos Ryan (-174)
09:20:37 <Ryan (-174)> On my second trip there the pit flash flooded and we climbed out in a heavy waterfall. 155 very loud and wet feet.
09:20:39 <Kat> Beautiful! I wanna go! LOL
09:20:43 <Ryan (-174)> It was really something fun!
09:21:08 <Joe> Aurum
09:21:17 <Joe> never mind
09:21:57 <Ryan (-174)> I was one of the last out, and had some of the highest water to deal with.
09:22:05 <Kat> No Aurum Joe?
09:22:27 <Kat> Ryan (-174), Adrenaline Plus!!
09:22:35 <Ryan (-174)> The main waterfall was just a foaming, muddy, torrent 10ft wide and 120ft tall. As I climbed up over the lip I looked over and watched rocks the size of softballs and soccer balls rolling in over the waterfall.
09:23:10 <Ryan (-174)> The rope was safe, but it was really freaky sitting in that big stadium like room and every couple minutes you hear this reverberating *crack-BOOM* when the rocks would roll in.
09:23:44 <Kat> Fun Fun!!
09:23:50 <Ryan (-174)> Its one of those things you'll never capture with a camera. But boy that experience is fried into my memories like Steamboat.
09:24:50 <Kat> Exactly Ryan!
09:25:35 <Ryan (-174)> Adventures in open air pits on rope remains one of my favorite activities.
09:25:43 <Kat> I need to llok for my photos!
09:25:48 <Kat> look*
09:25:50 <JarnoO> morning all
09:26:28 <Ryan (-174)> So many wonderful experiences. There was one cave in Alabama we visited with a 130ft entrance pit and lots of waterfalls. In JAugust the sunshine straight down the pit and makes these huge sunbeams, and the waterfalls all have circular rainbows while you climb up them. And its Alabama so the air and water is very warm.
09:26:29 <Lori S> Howdy Jarno
09:26:56 <Kat> I have not rope climbed except for short one in Trout - but I rock climbed in mountains in VA
09:27:15 <Ryan (-174)> In another Alabama pit in August the inside glows with slowworms at night. We did the pit at night and climbed out without our lights on in a lightning storm. The worms looked like stars all around you.
09:27:35 <Kat> Awesome!
09:28:01 <Ryan (-174)> Same pit in the winter has huge moonbeams and it lights the waterfalls up and makes moonbows *in the freaking pit*.
09:28:19 <Kat> :)
09:28:19 <Ryan (-174)> I should write a book someday lol
09:28:54 <Ryan (-174)> I am glad I keep a very detailed journal. I am coming up on cave trip number 500 since I started in September 2013. 289 unique caves.
09:29:04 <LindaG> Ryan (-174), yes, you should. Your photos are excellent!
09:29:10 <Kat> You should...
09:29:12 <Ryan (-174)> Most memories all blur together, but some stand out.
09:29:46 <Ryan (-174)> Moonbeams
09:29:56 <Kat> Ryan (-174), Now I'm really jealous!
09:29:59 <Ryan (-174)> glowworms
09:30:15 <Ryan (-174)> sunbeams in the morning
09:30:17 <LindaG> Gorgeous!
09:30:38 <Kat> Wow wow!
09:30:59 <LindaG> Glowworms look like stars
09:31:13 <Lori S> Gorgeous shots Ryan (-174)!
09:31:17 <Kat> Just beautiful!
09:31:18 <Ryan (-174)> Alabama is cool. This is Valhalla Cave, entrance is a 231ft huge open air pit.
09:31:56 <LindaG> 😊♥️
09:31:56 <Ryan (-174)> Got a bad rep for having some deaths in there. When I went in November I was the first in the pit after a fatal accident six days earlier. :( One before that was 1984.
09:32:41 <Ryan (-174)> The cave has a rather commanding feel to it. Its very humbling to be in it. It is one of my happy places, I can't not be relaxed and very happy. I think I have done the drop 14 times now or something.
09:34:02 <Lori S> One of my happy places is Vixen at twilight.
09:34:04 <Ryan (-174)> Kind of a weird irony there actually. Relaxing in a cave thats had a bad history to it. One accident was a human error, the other was a big rockfall off the wall that crushed two people.
09:34:40 <Ryan (-174)> Super rare events, massive rockfalls. So rare its not even worth worrying about. If your card gets drawn then thats just it.
09:34:55 <Kat> Ryan (-174), I agree
09:35:11 <Lori S> Ryan (-174), new quote to add to my fb :)
09:35:39 <Kat> TRied to look up Trout Cave online not finding anything
09:35:43 <Ryan (-174)> I actually think thats the only one I can think of since 1970 like that - where rock that had no visible signs of collapsing just let loose.
09:36:09 <Ryan (-174)> I can think of, and have seen, several rockfall events. But all had warning and none were at all a surprise when it ocurred.
09:36:26 <Lori S> Ryan (-174), kinda like Steamboat in early 2018 :0
09:36:33 <Lori S> * :)
09:36:45 <Ryan (-174)> With your card being drawn?
09:36:55 <Ryan (-174)> Or not being a surprise?
09:37:21 <Lori S> kinda just lt loose with no warning
09:37:31 <Ryan (-174)> Oh, yeah.
09:37:57 <Do Tellurium> Darned Giantess steam plume looks thick
09:38:43 <Ryan (-174)> The active phase was a shock for sure. The individual eruptions were not. My emotions still were along the lines of excitement, disbelief, euphoria, and ecstacyu - but not surprise. Shock, yes, but more of a dumbfounded-loss-of-words shock.
09:39:49 <Ryan (-174)> 174 days to give it another go I guess.
09:39:58 <Ryan (-174)> Anyone else wanna job me sobbing on the platform?
09:40:11 <Ryan (-174)> join*
09:40:13 <Kat> AB
09:41:19 <Lori S> Ryan (-174), me :)
09:41:23 <Dave from B™> Glowworm in Waitamo in NZ were amazing
09:41:48 <Ryan (-174)> Lori, I will find you, I will hug you, and we will cry haha
09:42:17 <Ryan (-174)> Green with envy Dave
09:42:22 <Dave from B™> Ryan, I hope to see you at Steamboat
09:42:27 <Lori S> Elk Park used to be just another meadow. Now I have a SB start in eerie dark clouds from there etched in my brain.
09:42:43 <Dave from B™> There are many caves in NZ, Ryan. I'm sure it is on your bucket list
09:42:47 <Ryan (-174)> It would be good, Dave.
09:42:58 <Ryan (-174)> All those gazers in one cheering crowd.
09:43:10 <Kat> Mer too Ry6an
09:43:10 <Ryan (-174)> Yes it is on my list for sure.
09:43:16 <Kat> Me too Ryan
09:43:30 <Lori S> Ryan (-174), yes, in fact, if I see a third, you may have to hold me upright. :p
09:43:59 <Ryan (-174)> Same here.
09:44:25 <Ryan (-174)> The false start i saw after the eruption in 2018 almost made my legs give out. Huge adrenaline crash
09:44:37 <Ryan (-174)> Had a couple of minors in 2019 do that to me too.
09:44:48 <ynpvisitor102> Going to have to watch Kevin for depression. No hockey or nascar.
09:45:17 <Lori S> That moment in my truck, northbound, when I cleared the trees and saw the water escalating in height at which point i said aloud to myself: 'WHAT?! NO WAY!" lol
09:45:34 <Ryan (-174)> We all know what I said.
09:45:46 <Kat> Saw 2 in 2019 - needing another!!
09:45:50 <Ryan (-174)> Science mom beautifully captured my shrieking howls of very much R rated language.
09:46:14 <JarnoO> *insert strong language here*, Ryan?
09:46:24 <Kat> LOL
09:46:33 <Ryan (-174)> Uh, yeah, something like that.
09:46:38 <Lori S> "FFS!" :p
09:46:45 <Dave from B™> 102, NASCAr is about the only thing not cancelled
09:46:56 <Ryan (-174)> Repeated shoutings of OMFG and JFC if i recall correctly.
09:47:21 <Ryan (-174)> The 400ft spike was just a bit took much, my brain gears stripped pretty hard after that.
09:47:32 <Dave from B™> I hope to get #2 in April or May
09:47:32 <Lori S> I just bawled and babbled nonsense
09:47:52 <Ryan (-174)> There was another aspect that I don't often tell people, not for any reason just that I dont usually say it.
09:47:59 <Lori S> ...which I captured on a very embarassing video :0
09:48:53 <Ryan (-174)> The moment was following years of several and occaisonally suicidal depression. Those screams and shouts were my reaction to realizing that I survived long enough to see Steamboat - Steamboat! for crying out loud.
09:48:54 <Lori S> * :)
09:49:31 <Ryan (-174)> While at first I was embarrassed I now accept that reaction as a victory cry. That geyser reminded me how to be happy and I owe a lot of my recovery to that thing.
09:49:34 <Kat> Lori S, I did the same!
09:49:48 <Dave from B™> I hope those still waiting for their first get a whole summer of activity
09:50:00 <Ryan (-174)> Going back last fall was very emotional, I had a lot of personal thanking to give it.
09:50:17 <Kat> Ryan (-174), Awesome!
09:50:36 <Lori S> I recall (from Decker) seeing the initial tallest bursts and thinking "How can anything toss water that high? Wow, that's TALL."
09:51:01 <Ryan (-174)> Yellowstone is, without any exaggeration, the reason I am still alive and on this Earth.
09:51:17 <Lori S> Ryan (-174), me too
09:51:42 <Ryan (-174)> It just has that special ability, ya know? :)
09:51:55 <Lori S> And we are very glad you are, BTW ;)
09:52:04 <Lori S> * :)
09:52:05 <Kat> Amen - Ryan I am with you!
09:52:23 <LindaG> Weighs heavily Into my life, albeit remotely 😊
09:52:29 <Lori S> I keep getting my emojis wrong this morning!
09:52:44 <Ryan (-174)> Thanks, me too. :) Steamboat on June 4, 2018 was the first time in a very long time I can remember clearly thinking that I was very happy I was alive and that I never gave up.
09:52:48 <Ryan (-174)> It was all very much worth it.
09:53:28 <Ryan (-174)> So, thats why I have such an emotional connection to geysers, and Steambaot and Fan and Mortar in particular. I owe a lot to them. They took good care of me when I needed it the most.
09:53:31 <LindaG> Ryan (-174), was it the energy?
09:54:09 <ynpvisitor102> Dave, no hotdogs at this weekend race. Have not herd if they are racing with empty seats, or doing something else.
09:54:36 <Ryan (-174)> Linda, it was just everything. The rarity, the enormity, the energy, the vibrations. It was just, for me, one massive transcendental and highly overwhelming experience. Both extremely humbling and remarkably empowering.
09:54:53 <Ryan (-174)> A reminder that I am not in control, but that I have the control to stay around.
09:55:33 <LindaG> Excellent,
09:55:40 <Lori S> deep :)
09:56:04 <Ryan (-174)> It actually registered in my head as "positive trauma". About three weeks after it I stopped remembering it. I wrote everything down the night after the eruption and that write up and my photos were the only way I'd remember it.
09:56:36 <Ryan (-174)> Over the next several months the memories and emotions came back bit by bit. Each bit sent me for a bit of a loop.
09:57:17 <Ryan (-174)> I could not remember what happened but I knew something did happen because I was a fundamentally different person after Steamboat than I was before.
09:58:15 <Ryan (-174)> I knew it, my friends and family knew it. But it wasnt until severakl months later when I slowly put the pieces back together and remembered and understood just what happened. And "proof that life is worth living" is a very good way of summarizing what it gave me.
09:58:57 <Ryan (-174)> Needless to say, I am an open book. I see no reason to hide any of this, or be embarassed by it. Someone else here has or is experiencing the same thing.
09:59:19 <Ryan (-174)> And with that. I am off for lunch :)
09:59:25 <Lori S> Ryan (-174),
09:59:39 <JarnoO> enjoy your lunch :)
09:59:41 <Lori S> Happy you shared all that. Enjoy lunch.
09:59:53 <Kat> Ryan (-174), Thats how I've experiened YNP overall! Wolves gave me a perspective I had never felt. I knew looking out across the expanse of the park that I was so insignificant yet important to life.
10:00:21 <Dave from B™> Thanks fro sharing, Ryan. By talking about you help many others.
10:01:13 <Kat> Ready Linda?
10:01:37 <Lori S> Something I haven't shared before. My dad Passed in the fall of 2016. After so many near misses and not being able to be there due to work, I finally saw my first Steamboat on his birthday in 2018. I choose to believe that was not a coincidence.
10:01:41 <LindaG> Everyday since my first visit to Yellowstone, I think about it. I found the webcam and have watched it everyday since. Of course I took it to the next level.
10:01:53 <Kat> LOL
10:02:03 <LindaG> I have cam
10:02:37 <Kat> Excellent! I'll bbs
10:02:38 <LindaG> Lori S, that's nice lori
10:02:40 <Dave from B™> Interesting, Lori. My SB sighting was the same week as my dad's birthday. He died in 1997
10:03:16 <LindaG> Let's see it's been 7 yrs since my first visit.
10:03:45 <Lori S> Dave from B™, wow. When I realized it that day, I crid harder.
10:03:53 <Kat> It's been been 31 years since my first visit!
10:04:06 <Dave from B™> Sadly,
10:04:21 <LindaG> My emotional attachment is thru my brother. Went in his RV twice. Sadly hes no longer with us.
10:04:43 <Dave from B™> Sadly, I don't remember my first visit. I'm often asked but I don't know
10:04:50 <LindaG> He loved it!
10:04:51 <Kat> I went with my Dad - I think of him and feel his presence whenever I am there! My best friend and my hero!
10:05:16 <Joe> my first visit was 1978
10:05:32 <LindaG> 👍
10:05:51 <Kat> :) Kindred spirits here!
10:05:54 <Kat> bbs
10:06:12 <Lori S> bye Kat
10:06:46 <lindaGp> seventies must have been cool joe
10:07:52 <Joe> took many rolls of pictures, then...realized in my excitement I had not threaded any of the film in the camera, spent the next few days redoing the whole thing over :)
10:08:08 <Lori S> I first arrived to the park in May of 1989 to drive bus tours. came through the east gate. In awe for the whole drive in.
10:08:22 <lindaGp> I was in Rocky Mtn National Park in 1980. it was memorable. A lot of transients living odd the vibes of the mtns. and doing a lot of drugs.
10:09:23 <Joe> Daisy
10:09:35 <lindaGp> daisy
10:10:46 <Dave from B™> I remember going to the park when the food was REALLY bad. Former concenssionaires were awful
10:10:59 <Joe> I worked in Boulder Co. in the early 70's...what a trip :)
10:11:02 <lindaGp> odd=off
10:11:09 <ynpvisitor102> Lori is the one that lit the park on fire?
10:11:12 <lindaGp> Joe, I'm sure
10:13:30 <Joe> I had to work at the "peoples free clinic" in Boulder a few skin crawled
10:14:31 <ynpvisitor102> Darn, I missed it by a year. Sorry Lori, you got to see the after fire.
10:15:42 <Eric> Morning Virtual Gazers!
10:16:38 <Kat> lindaGp, The 70's were so cool -I hitch-hiked across country several times!
10:16:40 <lindaGp> Eric, morning
10:16:41 <JarnoO> morning Eric
10:16:41 <Lori S> ynpvisitor102, I feel lucky to have been there as the snow melted in 89. So many wildflowers!
10:16:56 <Lori S> Hi Eric
10:17:15 <JarnoO> that's a lot of steam from the pool
10:17:23 <Dave from B™> Spring of 1989 was amazing. I vividly remember hillsides between Tower Junction and Petrified Tree turnoff.
10:17:30 <Eric> Hi Linda, Jarno and Lori!
10:18:00 <Joe> In 88 I was rudely :) awakened by rangers at Grant Village GG telling us we had to leave, the fire was headed our way.
10:18:00 <Do Tellurium> Hmm
10:18:18 <lindaGp> Joe, wow
10:18:46 <Dave from B™> haha, Joe. I escorted a ranger friend's wife out of Grant Village. I was probably there at the same time!
10:19:07 <Do Tellurium> Is Vault hot
10:19:58 <lindaGp> where is vault?
10:20:16 <Dave from B™> small cloud to left of Ginatess
10:20:24 <Joe> earlier that day I was canoeing Lewis lake the fire was right up to the lake shore west side
10:20:35 <Dave from B™> disappaiting now
10:21:00 <JarnoO> that cone is Teakettle if I recall correctly
10:21:23 <Do Tellurium> Yeah, it's not the cone. Vault is ground level
10:21:42 <Dave from B™> Vault is left of Teakettle in this shot?
10:21:49 <lindaGp> good viewing conditions though
10:21:58 <Lori S> morning Cooper
10:22:07 <Do Tellurium> Let me check the map
10:22:32 <lindaGp> in the forefront?
10:23:02 <JarnoO> it's immediately left of Giantess, in the middle between the cone and Giantess' plume
10:23:08 <JarnoO> from what I know, that is
10:23:09 <Do Tellurium> From this view, Vault is probably directly behind the Giantess pool. If visible it's to the right of Teakettle
10:23:11 <Do Tellurium> right
10:23:21 <ynpvisitor102> snow is going fast for march
10:23:34 <Lori S> ynpvisitor102, indeed
10:24:03 <ynpvisitor102> did olaf ever visit?
10:24:12 <lindaGp> little bit of steam behind giantess
10:24:53 <lindaGp> no that's in front
10:25:02 <Do Tellurium> Vault is really easy to see in the Google Maps satellite view
10:25:22 <lindaGp> straight back by BE?
10:25:28 <lindaGp> Be?
10:25:33 <Lori S> lindaGp, click on Vault in blue, find Giantess, then zoom in
10:25:57 <Lori S> Vault between Giantess and bw
10:26:01 <ynpvisitor102> Well, enjoy. Time to go.
10:26:10 <Eric> Yep, just did the map lineup of Vault, it's slightly to the left, behind Giantess
10:26:27 <Eric> The obvious steam further left is teakettle
10:26:45 <Joe>
10:26:58 <ynpvisitor88> I thinking just saw Aurum on my static
10:27:34 <Eric> You can't really see vault from the cam :-(
10:27:45 <Do Tellurium> Probably only when it erupts.
10:27:58 <Betty> Morning guys
10:27:59 <Lori S> ynpvisitor88, gree
10:28:00 <JarnoO> AB & AL
10:28:03 <Lori S> *agree
10:28:09 <lindaGp> double

10:28:27 <Betty> Hi lori s
10:28:32 <Lori S> Hi Betty
10:29:21 <lindaGp> Betty, hi
10:29:50 <Betty> Hi lindaGp
10:30:20 <Eric> Hi Betty
10:30:38 <Betty> You can see Vault Next to giantess
10:30:50 <Betty> Hi Eric
10:30:55 <JarnoO> afternoon Betty
10:31:08 <Betty> Hi JarnoO
10:32:06 <Eric> Thats better :-P
10:32:13 <Betty> JarnoO, Can you check Aurum on static reviews? I‘m on train
10:32:26 <Betty> Lol
10:33:56 <JarnoO> I don't think it was Aurum. Steam appears to be a tad too far to the left
10:34:54 <Betty> Thx for looking for it
10:34:55 <lindaGp> good there is still hope
10:35:37 <Lori S> Yes, thx for looking
10:36:04 <lindaGp> an audience 😊
10:37:46 <Betty> Bbl
10:37:56 <lindaGp> little steamer down by boardwalk, left corner
10:38:16 <Lori S> bye Betty,
10:42:00 <lindaGp> OF
10:43:03 <Dave from B™> Hi, Betty
10:45:51 <Lori S> Dave from B™, I think she left for a minute
10:46:16 <Dave from B™> She's in a tunnel?
10:46:18 <Cooper> maybe we should bombard her with hellos' when she returns.
10:46:48 <lindaGp> she was on a train
10:47:07 <Dave from B™> Probably coming home from work
10:47:42 <lindaGp> aurum still possible I think maybe within hour
10:51:48 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Not any more. I am back.
10:52:16 <Lori S> Kevin L™ 🌵, :(
10:52:27 <lindaGp> Kevin L™ 🌵, spoil sport 😉
10:53:11 <lindaGp> Kevin L™ 🌵, so when was your first visit to Yellowstone? missed our conversation
10:53:47 <Dave from B™> His second visit is more interesting:)
10:54:18 <Eric> My first visit was 1975
10:54:22 <lindaGp> oh, do tell!
10:54:46 <lindaGp> Eric, beat Joe by 3 yrs
10:55:04 <Eric> I might even have some 8mm film of me running around the BW in norris :-P
10:55:44 <lindaGp> 🙄 8mm sounds so antiquated
10:55:50 <Kevin L™ 🌵> 1969
10:55:58 <Dave from B™> Ok....I will go thru photos to try to nail a date for me. I'm thinking 1971-1975
10:56:11 <lindaGp> oh Kevin's ahead
10:56:14 <Lori S> Kevin L™ 🌵, I was 3 :0
10:56:25 <Lori S> * ;)
10:56:36 <Eric> I had a gorgeous sunset hike the the Columbia River Gorge last night:
10:57:04 <Kevin L™ 🌵> We got to park next to Castle.
10:57:07 <Dave from B™> I should say I'll be going thru slides
10:57:07 <Lori S> Eric, W O W !
10:57:42 <Dave from B™> wow
10:57:52 <lindaGp> Eric, wow, that's gorgeous
10:57:54 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Nice Eric
10:58:14 <Eric> Thank you :-D It was a nice hike up and then back in the dark :-D
10:58:40 <Dave from B™> Anyone else hiking in the dark besides you?
10:58:54 <Eric> Thank you extra hour of light :-D
10:59:38 <lindaGp> Kevin L™ 🌵, did you get to feed the bears in 69?
11:00:20 <Eric> funny you ask Dave...I young girl with no shoes and no water came up the path as the sun was starting to set. I asked her if she had a light for the trip down and she said she would just use her phone light. A few minutes later she was like...woops, my phone just died, can I walk down with you?
11:00:31 <Eric> A young girl
11:00:59 <Dave from B™> no shoes....seems strange
11:01:01 <Eric> Not sure what that lady was thinking...but I got her down safely!
11:01:23 <Eric> She said she wanted to climb a mountain barefoot....I mentioned summer might be a better time to try that.
11:01:41 <Eric> It was fricking freezing at the top.
11:02:20 <Dave from B™> How about earlier in the day:)
11:02:23 <lindaGp> wanted to be one with the mtn. 🤤
11:02:45 <Kevin L™ 🌵> We didn't feed bears but we saw some.
11:02:55 <Eric> Yes, that too Dave. But hiking/climbing is all about Heart...she made it!
11:03:42 <Dave from B™> I know my wife was intimidated/concerned about our long hike but she did great
11:04:01 <lindaGp> Kevin L™ 🌵, must have been such a different environment the
11:04:11 <lindaGp> *then
11:04:39 <Kevin L™ 🌵> It was. It did get me hooked.
11:13:29 <Dave from B™> Linda, since Kevin isn't sharing....he hoodwinked his dad into visit #2:)
11:13:48 <Dave from B™> He had control of the map
11:13:55 <lindaGp> splashing
11:14:20 <Kevin L™ 🌵> :) That was 2 years later.
11:14:37 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Yellowstone is in Colorado isn't it?
11:14:48 <lindaGp> oh no dad, don't take a left, make a right!
11:15:11 <lindaGp> that's a nice story
11:15:43 <lindaGp> Kevin L™ 🌵, did your father enjoy it?
11:16:39 <Kevin L™ 🌵> He figured out what was going on when we hit the Wyoming border. He let me have a day but we ended up at Rocky Mountain National Park.
11:17:19 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I think he enjoyed Yellowstone too but he was less than happy.
11:17:23 <lindaGp> ☺ RMNP is nice too
11:17:58 <lindaGp> I had much difficulty driving there
11:18:16 <lindaGp> can't take the heights while driving
11:18:26 <Dave from B™> That's one place I've never been. How many days do you recommend for RMNP
11:18:27 <Lori S> I've never been to RMNP. Need to go there
11:19:09 <lindaGp> two or three days I would think. Estes park is right there.
11:19:44 <lindaGp> I think you can drive up 12 or 13k feet, gorgeous views
11:20:05 <Dave from B™> Kevin, guess NASCAR is cancelled after all
11:20:18 <Dave from B™> Lots of hiking I assume
11:20:42 <lindaGp> yes.
11:21:05 <Dave from B™> Morning CraigC
11:21:06 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I agree. There is also fun stuff around it like the Georgetown Loop Railroad, Colorado Railroad Museum, Leadville and Colorado Railroad, Cumbres & Toltec Railroad, Royal Gorge Railroad...
11:21:14 <lindaGp> it's been a long time since I was there
11:21:33 <CraigC> hey Dave
11:21:53 <Kevin L™ 🌵> They even cancelled the race my Son was supposed to do this weekend. :P
11:21:58 <lindaGp> CraigC, hi
11:22:02 <CraigC> hey linda
11:22:24 <Dave from B™> Kevin, I seen a common theme:)
11:22:26 <Dave from B™> see*
11:22:27 <Lori S> Howdy CraigC
11:22:31 <CraigC> Kevin L™ 🌵, but they cancelled church, so that makes up for the fun things they cancelled
11:22:36 <CraigC> hey Lori
11:22:38 <Dave from B™> Georgetown Loop is fun
11:24:00 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Yep Craig. I think I will start a company that sells people sized bubbles.
11:24:25 <CraigC> I just paid for the Formula 1 racing TV channel for a year, and now they cancelled this weekends Australian Grand Prix
11:24:32 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Hey Dave, I don't think you saw this:
11:25:06 <Dave from B™> oh, no. What happened? and to who?
11:25:21 <Kevin L™ 🌵> A deer hit my daughter.
11:25:45 <Lori S> Kevin L™ 🌵,
11:26:16 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Darn! Someone beat me to it.
11:26:26 <CraigC> I went to Walmart an hour ago.... shelves are empty down the TP aisle and the canned foods aisle
11:26:46 <CraigC> glad I went 2 weeks ago and filled up 2 shopping carts
11:26:58 <Eric> Yep...been that way here for the last week
11:27:13 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I drove by WinCo about an hour ago. Never seen so many cars there ever.
11:27:25 <lindaGp> yesterday at Costco was bonkera
11:27:29 <Lori S> Kevin L™ 🌵, this one comes in your choice of colors
11:27:37 <Dave from B™> It is stupid how people are panicking in stores
11:28:11 <CraigC> panicking? Are you guys prepared to social distance yourselves for a month or 2 or 3?
11:28:48 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Don't you have a basement full of food Craig?
11:29:07 <Dave from B™> Nope
11:29:10 <Lori S> CraigC, given I don't like crowds, no problem
11:29:26 <CraigC> Kevin L™ 🌵, not anymore, we threw out lots of outdated stuff last summer, so we only have a couple months of new stuff now
11:29:28 <Eric> Yep, it's not the chains should continue to work.
11:29:40 <Dave from B™> I can see avoiding big crowds but stores will never close
11:30:20 <Eric> Yep...stores/supply chain stuff might be hampered due to some employees being out sick, but it won't shut off.
11:30:29 <Lori S> We get most of our stuff online. Though, after unpacking the Traget box yesterday, I did wash my hands.
11:30:36 <Eric> The panic is dumb IMHO
11:30:52 <Lori S> *Target
11:30:54 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I agree Eric
11:30:54 <Eric> Yep, wash your will help a lot!
11:30:59 <CraigC> which part do you label "panic", versus preparing?
11:31:15 <Eric> However, the idea of closing schools and keeping people spread out is a good idea.
11:31:28 <Ryan (-174)> Mm, nice lunch at Red Lobster with my coworkers.
11:31:38 <Eric> Rushing out and buying more than 2 weeks worth of supplies is panic
11:31:40 <lindaGp> I'm a hoarder to my core ☺ comes naturally
11:31:42 <CraigC> I am actually in favor of Trump's ban on travel
11:31:48 <Lori S> wb Ryan (-174)
11:31:56 <Ryan (-174)> The two weeks of supplies is pretty good idea.
11:32:18 <Ryan (-174)> The virus hits close here. GF's dad has cancer.
11:32:22 <CraigC> I am one that believes having about 2 to 3 months worth ALL the time is good planning
11:32:25 <Eric> Yep, I would suggest all people should have 2 weeks of necessities at all times...not just now :-P
11:32:52 <lindaGp> especially in the winter
11:32:54 <Ryan (-174)> He cant get exposed, it will kill him. She cant be exposed, she helps him. I cant be exposed, it would expose her.
11:32:57 <Lori S> We just moved into an efficiency temporarily. 2 adults and a 65 lb dog doesn't leave much room for stocking up
11:33:05 <Ryan (-174)> This means I shouldnt go grocery shopping for the next three weeks or so.
11:33:28 <lindaGp> Lori S, yeah that's hard
11:33:29 <Ryan (-174)> I am also not going caving down south for the next couple of weekends (too many people)
11:33:37 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I bet that is a lot of fun Lori
11:33:46 <Dave from B™> I can understand online shopping needs now but if will be the death of many towns in the long run
11:33:55 <Dave from B™> if = it*
11:34:08 <Ryan (-174)> And with the virus on our doorstep here in SW PA, the time for us here to prepare if we need to isolate for a couple of weeks is now, Eric.
11:34:15 <Lori S> Kevin L™ 🌵, so much fun. Room for a bed, 1 recliner, and not much else.
11:34:47 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Does anyone remember the swine flu panic in the mid 70's?
11:34:50 <Eric> Well, isolation doesn't do much good if kids are still in school
11:35:02 <lindaGp> what confuses me why.people were buying water.
11:35:09 <Lori S> But with the short noice we were given, it's a roof we are happy to be under in housing-less West
11:35:17 <Ryan (-174)> Not everyone has kids, Eric.
11:35:24 <Ryan (-174)> I don't. Neither does Hope.
11:35:27 <Eric> You are extra safe then!
11:35:34 <Eric> Kids are vectors!
11:35:40 <Ryan (-174)> Her brother isnt in school - hes online for now from college.
11:35:44 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I don't have kids but my wife is a school nurse.
11:35:49 <Ryan (-174)> HEr parents arent exposed to large groups either.
11:35:50 <CraigC> my g/f works at a school, so I assume I will get it
11:36:09 <Ryan (-174)> So it makes sense for us to isolate and prepare for a few weeks of isolation from grocery stores.
11:36:14 <Eric> Kids generally have poor hygenie and keep close proximity at schools.
11:36:26 <Ryan (-174)> And of course I am not alone
11:36:44 <CraigC> Ryan, how do you come up with "few weeks", and not "possibly 3 to 6 months"?
11:36:45 <Eric> Meh, your likelyhood of contracting the virus from grocery shopping is sooo low.
11:36:53 <lindaGp> I worry about my husband I tend to be a carrier
11:36:56 <Eric> unless you never bother to wash your hands :-P
11:37:21 <Ryan (-174)> She only helps her dad for one week out of every three or four.
11:37:39 <Ryan (-174)> So we mostly need to worry about the next four weeks and then take it from there.
11:37:59 <Lori S> Saw on the news that if you think you have it, DO NOT go to the ER. Calll to arrnage testig.
11:38:03 <CraigC> I have no clue about when we are going to say "ok, that is over with"
11:38:45 <Lori S> CraigC, like with the current SB series :p
11:38:48 <Eric> It's a good question Craig
11:38:49 <CraigC> LOL
11:39:04 <Ryan (-174)> Well
11:39:10 <Ryan (-174)> I know when I said we were done with it
11:39:21 <Ryan (-174)> So theres one data point
11:39:27 <Lori S> Ryan (-174), when?
11:39:32 <Eric> Hopefully once we have a vacinne
11:39:37 <Lori S> I've been off chat a while
11:39:40 <lindaGp> I think everyone will get it eventually
11:39:45 <CraigC> Ryan (-174), no one beleived you meant it, though
11:39:50 <Dave from B™> 18 months for a vaccine, I heard
11:39:56 <Ryan (-174)> After the first 14d interval
11:40:02 <Ryan (-174)> Remember the FB post?
11:40:07 <Ryan (-174)> Oh, CraigC, I meant it.
11:40:08 <Eric> That will likely be super fast tracked Dave
11:40:09 <Ryan (-174)> Still do.
11:40:15 <CraigC> Ryan (-174), yeah, I took it as a joke/sarcasm
11:40:27 <lindaGp> I haven't even taken the flu vaccine yet
11:40:40 <Lori S> Ryan (-174), oh, right
11:40:44 <Kevin L™ 🌵> The vaccine for the swine flu killed more people than the flu did.
11:40:46 <Eric> 14d apparently isn't long enough...they are doing more research and the Virus tends to stay in your system for greater than 30 days. One of the reasons this has spread.
11:40:47 <Kat> lindaGp, Go get it!!!
11:40:51 <Ryan (-174)> Actually I meant it, Craig.
11:40:54 <Ryan (-174)> And still do.
11:40:56 <Lori S> I say after a year of no majors
11:41:14 <lindaGp> Kat, ever
11:41:21 <Ryan (-174)> BUT what I meant was the months of very stable frequent activity. THAT was what I meant was ending.
11:41:23 <Ryan (-174)> Not
11:41:24 <Dave from B™> KevinL, I had a neighbor who had really bad consequences from swine flu shot
11:41:32 <Ryan (-174)> "its never gonna erupt again", just
11:41:39 <Eric> Yep, they have to be extra careful with vaccines Kevin...they can do more harm than good if not created carefully and fully tested.
11:41:44 <Ryan (-174)> "we wont experience this consistency of activity"
11:42:27 <Kevin L™ 🌵> The government made us take a double dose (in military at the time). Couldn't get you pay until you got the shot.
11:42:34 <Lori S> the one year I didn't get a flu shot..
11:42:47 <Eric> Wonder if SB will stay consistent now? SB today?
11:43:01 <Lori S> Eric, I think she's close
11:43:16 <CraigC> Eric, I dont even know how to read the temp logger anymore, so I am in the dark
11:43:21 <Lori S> which means she won't e
11:43:22 <Eric> No activity on logger!
11:43:24 <Lori S> *be
11:43:27 <Dave from B™> I'm actually expecing our market to busy during this ordeal because people won't be eating out as much.
11:44:03 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Raise your prices Dave!
11:44:03 <CraigC> Dave from B™, hopefully so, for your sake
11:44:41 <Dave from B™> Costco in Blgs did 2.5 times their normal March day yesterday
11:45:15 <lindaGp> it. was beginning of coupons
11:45:23 <Joe> Famous Daves in billings was packed to the gills last week
11:45:35 <Eric> Not sure fish is long term survival food.
11:45:41 <CraigC> hey Joe
11:45:45 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Thankfully we have stores that are open 24 hours. If you get there early in the morning they are stocking shelves.
11:45:54 <Joe> Hi Craig
11:45:54 <Eric> Buy lots of smoked and other long durability fish dave
11:45:57 <Dave from B™> I have more than 2 weeks of food in my work freezer:)
11:46:14 <Kevin L™ 🌵> But can you eat it?
11:46:19 <CraigC> Dave from B™, will you start eating fish?
11:46:21 <Eric> hahaha
11:46:48 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Took me a minute Joe. :)
11:47:00 <CraigC> we have 3 dogs..... so ...well, nevermind
11:47:07 <lindaGp> OT ie
11:47:31 <Kevin L™ 🌵> That is the advantage of chickens Craig.
11:48:01 <CraigC> Labrador Ramen Surprise
11:48:53 <Lori S> CraigC, eww and that's just not right
11:48:57 <lindaGp> ewwww lol
11:49:54 <Dave from B™> CraigC....yikes....I'll keep my dogs away from you:D
11:49:55 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Chickens give you breakfast and after that they give you dinner.
11:51:07 <lindaGp> the gift that keeps on giving
11:51:42 <CraigC> Joe, any new updates on your eye situation?
11:52:32 <Dave from B™> Tighter restrictions are occurring at assisted living and nursing homes...another good thing
11:53:11 <Lori S> Alas, laundry calls. Maybe BBL
11:53:17 <Dave from B™> My mom is in a rehab facility until Tuesday and we aren't allowed to visit as of 6 pm last night
11:53:40 <Dave from B™> Lori S, is your #88 post ready?
11:53:42 <CraigC> in Italy they can't even have funerals
11:53:52 <Dave from B™> It needs fire (1988)
11:53:55 <lindaGp> riverside
11:54:24 <Lori S> Dave from B™, I have my ** photo ready. But now that you mention the fires...
11:54:30 <Lori S> *88
11:54:34 <lindaGp> hmmm don't thi k that was riverside this morning
11:54:36 <Dave from B™> Has everyone seen the post of TP earrings on FB?
11:54:47 <CraigC> lindaGp, yeah, LOL
11:54:57 <CraigC> I meant Dave, not linda
11:55:22 <Joe> no still waiting, if they were successful at burning the vessels that blocked that drainage and the vessels stop growing things will work out, too many ifs, Craig
11:55:22 <CraigC> my mouse has corona and missed
11:55:56 <CraigC> Joe, is it still painful?'
11:56:16 <lindaGp> Kat, don't think that was riverside this morning
11:56:18 <Joe> for now just a little
11:58:39 <Joe> Riverside was right in its time frame this morning
11:58:47 <lindaGp> ok
11:59:14 <Ryan (-174)> 3hr 51mi is not impossible
11:59:15 <lindaGp> what are the intervals usually?
11:59:22 <Ryan (-174)> Uncommon but not impossible.
11:59:26 <Ryan (-174)> 5.5-6hrs.
11:59:54 <lindaGp> oh I thought 12 hrs, so what do know
11:59:59 <Dave from B™> Could be 411 if ie was near end but I doubt it is correct, either
12:00:00 <Eric> what in the world was just erupting then?!?!?
12:00:12 <Ryan (-174)> Riverside
12:00:20 <Ryan (-174)> 3hr51min is not impossible
12:00:23 <Ryan (-174)> It does that
12:00:32 <Eric> when was the last time it did that?
12:00:37 <Joe> that is riverside for sure
12:00:38 <Ryan (-174)> Last summer.
12:00:52 <Ryan (-174)> And several data points of it happening between 2004 and 2010 in the data I was analyzing.
12:00:58 <Ryan (-174)> Its when it hits overflow.
12:01:04 <Eric> Interesting
12:01:11 <Eric> don't see anything in the last 200
12:01:12 <Ryan (-174)> It has an initial surge right after overflow and rarely (0.5% of the time) it erupts.
12:01:42 <Ryan (-174)> Normally it has the surge and then overflows quietly. But on occasion it erupts right after overflow is reached.
12:01:48 <Eric> so will the next cycle be normal?
12:01:54 <Ryan (-174)> Probably.
12:02:02 <Eric> hmm, crazy
12:02:04 <Ryan (-174)> The cycles dont usually seem to influence each other.
12:02:07 <Eric> learned something new :-P
12:02:23 <Ryan (-174)> Long term - yes theres a general tendency to shorts vs longs. Short term - nah.
12:02:48 <Joe> we recently had a 4h 54 min
12:02:50 <lindaGp> i.mentioned it because it was so.steamy this morning
12:03:21 <Ryan (-174)> The swap is pretty rapid, too. Weeks or months of roughly 60% longs and then suddenly, in the course of a couple days, it will switch to having 60% shorts.
12:03:26 <Eric> ohh, now I see it Joe
12:03:36 <Ryan (-174)> Theres four chances with which it can erupt.
12:03:38 <Eric> and a 5h 30m one right before it
12:03:59 <Ryan (-174)> Right at overflow, and then again roughly an hour and a half later, and then again twenty five minutes after that, and finally thirty minutes after that.
12:04:17 <Ryan (-174)> Frequency is roughly 0.5%, 1%, 49%, 49%. For several year span.
12:04:50 <Eric> what is the average time from eruption to overflow?
12:05:09 <Eric> and does it stay pretty consistent?
12:05:21 <Eric> or do we have any data points on that :-P
12:05:29 <Ryan (-174)> Its not at all consistent.
12:05:46 <Ryan (-174)> Recovery time from eruption to overflow is *very* consistent. Like within +/-3 minutes.
12:06:07 <Ryan (-174)> Overflow to eruptions though vary wildly and thats where the variance in the eruption intervals comes from.
12:06:15 <Ryan (-174)> Yes, Eric, we do ahve that data actually :)
12:06:22 <Eric> I am asking about recover time
12:06:30 <Eric> So what is that number? :-P
12:07:31 <Ryan (-174)> Not sure what it is right now.
12:07:44 <Ryan (-174)> The data I have is from 2004 to 2010.
12:07:54 <Ryan (-174)> The recent data may be up there, I have not checked.
12:08:16 <Ryan (-174)> But you'd need to manually process it. Its sually around 3.5-4.5 hours depending on the season.
12:08:48 <Eric> I thought you just said it was super consistent... +/- 3 minutes?
12:08:54 <Ryan (-174)> Which means that the first possibility of eruption is bewteen 4-5hrs depending on the year (the first surge is 20-30min post overflow)
12:09:13 <Ryan (-174)> It is. Pick a season and its gonna be between 3.5 and 4.5 hrs the entire season.
12:09:39 <Ryan (-174)> It may be 3hr 55min one year, and 4hr 20min the next. But its always within 3min of that average.
12:09:40 <lindaGp> OF
12:09:51 <Ryan (-174)> The known overflow periods just range over years/decades.
12:10:53 <Eric> ahh, not that consistent over time. Just consistent within the period you are looking at, which I assume that means it seems to change seasonally.
12:11:17 <Ryan (-174)> Changes over months or years and it is very gradual.
12:11:38 <Ryan (-174)> Like, were literally talking six or seven months for an appreciable change.
12:11:57 <Ryan (-174)> Except for earthquakes.
12:12:07 <Ryan (-174)> That changes recovery times real fast, like a single eruption cycle lol
12:12:10 <Dave from B™> Has there been an article in the Sput on Riverside recently?
12:12:26 <Ryan (-174)> Nope, I am still writing it
12:12:32 <Ryan (-174)> I am doing all the data processing still.
12:12:52 <Ryan (-174)> Started in November, got distracted by life.
12:13:29 <Ryan (-174)> Summary in the Sput, full article in the Transactions.
12:14:00 <CraigC> cool
12:14:08 <Eric> Do transactions articles get vetted by a science board?
12:14:20 <CraigC> I'll read it, and then it will be forgotten by summer like everything I read now that I am old
12:14:27 <Ryan (-174)> They get vetted by other gazers with a technical bent.
12:14:53 <Ryan (-174)> This all started because I noted cycles in Riverside's overflows and was told "yeah it does that"
12:14:59 <Dave from B™> Ryan, I get it. Life has priorities
12:15:20 <Ryan (-174)> My response was, "Oh, really!?" So I started digging and analyzing like 10,000 eruptions and lo and behold IT ACTUALLY DOESNT DO THAT
12:15:20 <Eric> Thanks for taking the time to do it Ryan...I look forward to reading it.
12:15:42 <Ryan (-174)> Actually it does.
12:16:04 <Ryan (-174)> But theres a lot of nuance to it. The Riverside system is remarkably stable and is a really cool insight into a geyser system.
12:16:47 <Ryan (-174)> For instance, a 1986 study hypothesized that Riverside's overflow recovery times were dependent on flow rate of water into the system.
12:17:29 <Ryan (-174)> Theres a lot of reasoning behind that conclusion, but the short version is that recovery time seems to be dependent on the rate at which water enters the system, and then time from overflow to eruption is dependent on heat.
12:17:50 <Ryan (-174)> Thus: recovery time = indiciation of flow rate, overflow time = indication of heat influx.
12:18:11 <Ryan (-174)> Following the 2002 denali earthquake the recovery times dropped rapidly but the overflow times never changed.
12:18:35 <Ryan (-174)> Thus the following hypothesis that comes from it is that the earthquakes affected the rate at which water entered riverside's system.
12:19:15 <Ryan (-174)> Thats my hypothesis at least. It cant be defended until the full article is up.
12:19:27 <Dave from B™> Ryan, that is very interesting. Thanks for sharing
12:19:41 <Ryan (-174)> To ask questions and challenge my hypothesis you need to read the whole article first.
12:19:45 <lindaGp> daisy and grand soon
12:20:09 <Ryan (-174)> Which I am slowly but surely working on, and I emphasize that my idea is only a (untested and uncontested) hypothesis still.
12:20:20 <Dave from B™> I will only be looking for typos:D Sorry, Ryan, I couldn't resist:D
12:20:25 <Ryan (-174)> :D
12:20:32 <lindaGp> grand
12:20:35 <lindaGp> .
12:20:36 <lindaGp> .
12:20:39 <Ryan (-174)> The data also insinuates a vague connection with F&M.
12:21:29 <Ryan (-174)> There were a couple seasons where in May and June Riverside's intervals dropped noticeably for about two months. Same seasons that F&M had exceptionally good activity.
12:21:40 <Ryan (-174)> Correlation, but a consistent one.
12:21:51 <Eric> But did you take in the butterfly population of lower mongolia into your equations?
12:22:03 <CraigC> ok, NOW they have gone too far..... they just closed Mount F'n Everest due to Corona
12:22:10 <Ryan (-174)> No, but I did consider the speed of light and how it affects time relativity.
12:22:14 <Dave from B™> so, increased activity because of heat or water change?
12:22:35 <Ryan (-174)> No clue, hadnt made it far enough to see which component of the interval changed.
12:22:36 <Eric> why would they close mount everest?
12:22:47 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Don't forget the cosmic rays...
12:22:47 <Ryan (-174)> Base camp.
12:22:53 <CraigC> my mom was going to climb it
12:22:58 <Eric> I can see them closing it due to all the junk that gets left up there!
12:23:05 <Ryan (-174)> Lots of people, bad place to get super sick...
12:23:07 <Eric> Wow....go mom!
12:23:27 <CraigC> she wanted Dave as her Sherpa
12:24:03 <Eric> Bad place to be sick at all, not just super sick.
12:24:44 <JarnoO> Ryan - from what I've read, Riverside should be classified as a geyser that's part of the Morning Glory Group rather than Grotto's or on its own?
12:25:01 <Ryan (-174)> Geographically yes
12:25:10 <JarnoO> interesting, thanks a lot
12:25:22 <Ryan (-174)> Its pretty isolated, hard to be a group with just one geyser.
12:25:31 <Dave from B™> Thanks, CraigC.....I laughed loudly while talking to someone on the phone:D
12:25:32 <Ryan (-174)> Its absolutely not related to Grotto
12:25:55 <Ryan (-174)> Thus the last place to put it is with F&M in the Morning Glory Group.
12:25:57 <CraigC> Dave from B™, hahahaha
12:26:21 <Ryan (-174)> Riverisde would not be alone there. Morning Glory Pool is isolated and unconnected to F&M/Spiteful/Norris.
12:27:22 <Dave from B™> I've had an experience of a child being injured hours from a hospital. It makes you think about a lot of things. I never take safety for granite in remote places
12:27:36 <JarnoO> so you could say that the Morning Glory group contains features which are fairly egoistic as far as sharing a common water source is concerned :)
12:27:39 <CraigC> Dave from B™, on a serious note, I have to share some bad news, I feel fairly certain she is getting worse..... as she has not mentioned you in 4 or 5 months
12:28:59 <CraigC> I try to be cautious around granite.
12:29:03 <lindaGp> INWONDER if a 2nd
12:29:13 <lindaGp> * I wonder
12:29:20 <Do Tellurium> 9 minute mark
12:29:48 <Dave from B™> OK...I was trying to be nice but maybe your mom could visit YNP so she will remember again:)
12:30:32 <Dave from B™> How old is your mom, CraigC?
12:30:40 <CraigC> 85
12:30:54 <CraigC> or 86
12:31:26 <lindaGp> guess it's done
12:31:43 <Dave from B™> Enjoy every minute, CraigC
12:31:58 <lindaGp> indy

12:32:10 <ynpvisitor112> YAYAYAYAY!
12:32:12 <CraigC> hard to do now when I am intentionally avoiding visiting her
12:32:25 <Eric> Nice!
12:32:57 <Joe> text sent
12:32:59 <lindaGp> we need a spin
12:33:10 <Ryan (-174)> Nice!
12:33:11 <lindaGp> Joe, I did too
12:33:14 <Eric> txt received
12:33:16 <Ryan (-174)> Thanks for the text.
12:33:18 <Dave from B™> Well, that is short term.
12:33:22 <Ryan (-174)> At my desk but did not have the cam up.
12:33:30 <Joe> nice Linda
12:33:37 <Dave from B™> My mom can't even correctly answer her phone half the time
12:33:43 <lindaGp> splashing
12:33:47 <lindaGp> bee
12:33:51 <JarnoO> :bee:
12:33:54 <Cooper> yay
12:34:02 <Dave from B™> Go indy!!
12:34:04 <Do Tellurium> Short indy
12:34:17 <Dave from B™> wow
12:34:25 <Ryan (-174)> That was the most graceful BH start I have ever seen
12:34:25 <Dave from B™> I don't like short indies
12:34:43 <Cooper> 1st Bee in 2 weeks almost:D
12:34:45 <Ryan (-174)> That was so beautiful!
12:34:52 <Dave from B™> CraigC, I bet you read that post with a "u" instead of an "i":D
12:34:57 <JarnoO> good height
12:35:19 <Eric> wooot
12:35:26 <lindaGp> Dave from B™, don't t know when it started
12:35:39 <lindaGp> that's when I saw it
12:35:40 <Ryan (-174)> Good conditions for height.
12:35:41 <Eric> Yes, not wind blown like yesterday!
12:36:11 <CraigC> Dave from B™, OMG.... hahahahaha
12:36:21 <Ryan (-174)> Nice light and wind.
12:36:28 <JarnoO> static doesn't provide an insight into how long Indy was going before we saw it. Bad wind direction
12:36:31 <Ryan (-174)> I can't get over the start. It was so smooth.
12:36:36 <Ryan (-174)> So unlike BH.
12:36:53 <JarnoO> Beehive is one of many faces
12:36:56 <Cooper> beautiful
12:37:21 <Eric> use /getvideo after it's done and you will have your very own copy of this beehive :-P
12:37:34 <Dave from B™> Does anyone know of any Nationals Parks being closed because of thevirus yet?
12:37:47 <Cooper> That is what I will do
12:38:16 <Eric> Not yet, but with National Emergency call coming sometimes today, I would expect federal agencies that are not critical to shutdown as well.
12:38:32 <CraigC> as long as you arent on a bus, I dont see the risk of going to a park and wandering around away from other people
12:38:45 <JarnoO> Well, Eric, one could do that to get Beehive, but it doesn't help if it gives you a video of 1007 yesterday
12:38:53 <lindaGp> nice of it to wait for grand
12:38:54 <Cooper> Eric, get video is not on today.
12:39:01 <Eric> noooo
12:39:09 <Eric> Dave break it?
12:39:21 <Dave from B™> really?:)
12:39:22 <lindaGp> maybe Joe was recording
12:39:32 <Do Tellurium> No, most Fed agencies will stay open with lots of teleworking happening.
12:40:46 <ynpvisitor72> Parks could close. Xanterra will not have staff
12:41:24 <Eric> I have reset /getvideo...uggg
12:41:35 <Eric> first time it's done something weird like that in a while
12:41:39 <ynpvisitor72> Yellowstone FB sites full of nuts saying the virus is just a cold
12:41:54 <Eric> should be rebuffered in about 15 minutes
12:42:07 <lindaGp> that was nice
12:42:38 <JarnoO> Eric, maybe you could add some code which automatically restarts the getvideo service if the video hasn't changed within the last 5 minutes or so
12:42:58 <Do Tellurium> Parks could close, but I think it more likely that visitor centers, museums, etc. will close.
12:43:01 <lindaGp> forgot all about daisy
12:43:07 <Eric> I already have code that restarts it if it detects failure...looks like I need more code :-(
12:43:24 <JarnoO> :/
12:43:29 <Do Tellurium> But I have no inside info about parks
12:45:00 <JarnoO> first grizzly sighting in the park was on 7 March, FYI:
12:45:45 <KevinS> Bet they close and public venues where guests can not maintain 6 feet separation from each other. Not good for basins with boardwalks.
12:47:58 <lindaGp> bulger ie
12:49:47 <ynpvisitor72> If there are no services, they will close
12:50:15 <ynpvisitor72> Having only outhouses with no running water will not cover it
12:50:27 <Dave from B™> This is going to cause a lot of business failures or a lot of bailouts
12:50:53 <ynpvisitor72> Sorry you will be affected Dave
12:51:48 <lindaGp> squatch looking for craig
12:51:54 <Dave from B™> I'm still not convinced about what will happen to our business. I'm worried about airlines
12:51:55 <Do Tellurium> That's what the emergency declaration is mainly for -- emergency funding measures.
12:52:04 <Eric> We are all going to be affected by this! My daughter who is a senior in high school will probably not have a graduation :-(
12:52:20 <ynpvisitor72> Sad yet true Eric
12:52:47 <Eric> small potatoes compared to people dieing...but it still is sad and impact many people.
12:53:09 <ynpvisitor72> Restaurants will stop ordering fish Dave
12:53:18 <lindaGp> splashing in the pool
12:53:20 <Do Tellurium> Remember the movie "Contagion"? They had the senior prom at home.
12:53:25 <Dave from B™> But people still have to eat at home
12:53:41 <Eric> Get your delivery service started quickly :-P
12:53:41 <lindaGp> look
12:53:42 <lindaGp> .
12:53:43 <Dave from B™> Another good reason for always having a diverse business
12:53:43 <lindaGp> .
12:53:45 <Eric> Nice...mugwump?
12:53:58 <ynpvisitor72> I don’t think they are hunkering down with fresh seafood
12:53:59 <lindaGp> I don't know
12:54:06 <Do Tellurium> The wife of a long-time friend of mine has a bit part as a nurse in "Contagion".
12:54:18 <Do Tellurium> She's actually a nurse.
12:54:30 <Do Tellurium> What pool is that bubbling?
12:54:43 <lindaGp> I don't know
12:54:44 <Dave from B™> Ryan might know
12:54:57 <lindaGp> I've never seen it bubble
12:55:11 <lindaGp> stopped now
12:55:15 <CraigC> three sisters ?
12:55:19 <Ryan (-174)> Three Sister
12:55:20 <Dave from B™> Could be Mugwump. That pool has a few vents
12:55:24 <Do Tellurium> Had a good little 2-3 footer.
12:55:27 <ynpvisitor72> That’s Three Craters
12:55:37 <Ryan (-174)> And the Geyser is called Three Crater I think
12:55:41 <Dave from B™> Mugwump is to left in this view
12:55:42 <lindaGp> it was actually splashing
12:55:47 <Dave from B™> ?
12:55:47 <Ryan (-174)> Thats not Mugwump, its close and in that pool but thats not it
12:55:56 <ynpvisitor72> Mugwump is across from it
12:56:18 <ynpvisitor72> Pool is nice and blue though, good sign
12:56:18 <Dave from B™> Mugwump would be left of the taller trees?
12:56:24 <CraigC> linda, good catch
12:56:29 <lindaGp> CraigC, thx
12:56:46 <Eric> I think that was mugwump...distance compressed by long zoom
12:57:05 <Eric> No, mugwump is to the right, forward of the pool
12:57:07 <ynpvisitor72> Wasn’t Mugwump
12:57:08 <Dave from B™> Next Friday we will be short an employee and we are still hiring....have a few reservations about that
12:57:13 <JarnoO> This is a rare sight for a desert:
12:57:20 <Eric> I think three craters is behind the trees from here
12:57:33 <ynpvisitor72> Nope
12:57:47 <ynpvisitor72> That was definitely Three Craters
12:58:01 <lindaGp> well it was in the center of this pool right of tree
12:58:20 <ynpvisitor72> Mugwump is behind the trees with this cam
12:58:26 <lindaGp> jarno might k ow
12:58:37 <Dave from B™> I trust 72
12:59:07 <CraigC> I don't recognize 72's name
12:59:19 <ynpvisitor72> Oops, Mugwump could be seen yet not then
12:59:41 <ynpvisitor72> I hope we get some Mugwump captures soon!
12:59:43 <Eric> ok...after measuring on map...I agree with you 72
12:59:45 <lindaGp> missed lion ☹ I think
13:00:01 <Eric> three craters and mugwump actually are in a perfect line
13:00:07 <ynpvisitor72> Thanks Eric. I’ve seen it many many times
13:00:21 <Eric> From the webcam?
13:00:37 <CraigC> 72 = Micah?
13:00:44 <ynpvisitor72> From the road. It’s a frequent player
13:00:56 <Eric> Seeing it from the road and seeing it from the webcam are hugely different perspectives
13:01:03 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Hard to believe this is 45 miles from my house:
13:01:12 <Eric> and the compression of the lens throws distance way off
13:01:39 <Eric> That is crazy Kevin
13:04:40 <Dave from B™> Can someone post the 3 Sisters, please. Nice to see something different on the list
13:05:01 <lindaGp> I will
13:05:27 <Eric> just type /getvideo :-D
13:05:44 <Eric> and scroll back to 1252
13:06:34 <ynpvisitor86> Cheeto is finally going to declare a National Emergency
13:07:10 <lindaGp> can someone grab the video, can't to cam and that
13:07:51 <ynpvisitor86> I thought it was Three Crater?
13:08:01 <KevinS> I just got the work from home notice.
13:08:17 <lindaGp> KevinS, oh my
13:08:47 <Dave from B™> KevinL, what is happening at LV casinos in all this?
13:09:11 <Dave from B™> I see buffets and shows are being cancelled
13:09:15 <lindaGp> ynpvisitor86, might be right about that
13:10:02 <lindaGp> Dave from B™, based in map it probably was three crater
13:10:17 <KevinS> Time to go. Be back late today or tomorrow.
13:10:39 <lindaGp> KevinS, ok good luck with working from home
13:11:09 <lindaGp> I'm going to change to three crater
13:11:25 <Dave from B™> oops...bad typo:)
13:12:19 <lindaGp> bad keyboard ☺
13:13:10 <JarnoO> it appears to be the easternmost vent of North Sister based on that there's quite some blue behind the bursting area. The burst also appears to be fairly close to the dark patch of grass(?) east of North Sister, which would also support the easternmost vent. I'm not sure what vent what is in the pool though, but I assume it's Three Crater that's located there?
13:13:15 <ynpvisitor86> Cheeto 13 minutes late, no surprise there
13:14:08 <ynpvisitor86> Three Craters is located where the eruption came from :)
13:14:27 <CraigC> ynpvisitor86, as much as I despise the person you are referring to, I'd recommend not stirring the political pot in this venue
13:14:42 <lindaGp> I just looked at video but it started at 12:57 for me
13:15:36 <lindaGp> anyone grab it at 12:53?
13:16:04 <Eric> You waited too long...the video is only the last 15 minutes Linda :-(
13:16:34 <JarnoO> I grabbed it @ 1251. Have since closed the tab though
13:16:42 <Joe1> beehive replay
13:16:58 <Joe1> oops
13:17:04 <lindaGp> Joe1, did you happen to record three craters?
13:17:05 <Dave from B™> Please don't use political references and grab in the same conversation:)
13:17:57 <JarnoO> I'll keep my mouth shut then
13:18:38 <Joe> Yes Linda that is nrxt
13:18:51 <lindaGp> Joe, oh thank you!
13:19:17 <Eric> Let's see how Cheeto's big mac diet helps him fight the virus? His personal doctors say he is in tip top shape, so should be no problem.
13:19:53 <Eric> But I was actually wondering last week if the secret service was screening people who came into contact with him and Pence.
13:20:05 <Eric> Guess not is the answer.
13:20:19 <Eric> Failure on the part of the secret service IMHO.
13:21:27 <Dave from B™> I wonder how this will change political campaigns this season
13:21:48 <Eric> No rallies...all televised.
13:22:10 <Eric> Daisy is in window?
13:22:27 <Eric> BA?
13:22:28 <Dave from B™> more debates?
13:22:53 <lindaGp> inthink daisy went during bee
13:23:24 <Eric> I don't think Biden really wants to debate Sanders and be more exposed on the left side.
13:23:33 <Eric> ahh
13:23:37 <Eric> probably linda
13:24:18 <lindaGp> I was waiting for it and can't remember why unsung cam and then there was indy
13:24:31 <lindaGp> :*swung
13:24:57 <Dave from B™> I hope park stays open. It will be a good place to hide....good year to hike in the backcountry
13:24:59 <JarnoO> LC ie
13:25:07 <lindaGp> llittlw cub ie
13:25:22 <lindaGp> haven't seen that in a while
13:25:47 <JarnoO> I'm also barely seeing LC these days
13:25:54 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Steamy cub
13:26:00 <Dave from B™> 3 geysers that don't get a lot of research: Little Cub, Gizmo and Tilt's Baby
13:26:34 <Dave from B™> I was wondering the other day if you could watch all 3 from Tilt's Baby
13:26:36 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I sure miss Tilt.
13:28:08 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Casinos seem to be doing OK Dave, but the conventions are taking a big hit. They postponed the Knights game yesterday too. :P
13:28:42 <ynpvisitor86> I'm wondering if primaries will be canceled
13:28:45 <Dave from B™> I wonder if some casinos will close
13:28:51 <Dave from B™> for the short term
13:29:13 <ynpvisitor86> they are crazy not to
13:29:23 <Dave from B™> Good reason to push for electronic elections
13:29:52 <ynpvisitor86> Cheeto shook hands with someone that has the virus yet will not be tested.
13:31:16 <ynpvisitor86> he is already saying how great the US has been compared to other countries. He lives in an alternate universe
13:31:18 <Dave from B™> He probably has a secret vaccine:)
13:32:44 <Dave from B™> I wonder how many people have died in the past month and not linked to the virus even thought they had it
13:32:53 <Dave from B™> though*
13:33:52 <lindaGp> :i wonder if those conewalkers have gone to court yet
13:34:43 <Dave from B™> Did I miss some conewalkers?
13:35:36 <Kat> ynpvisitor86, He's an ass - just sayin'
13:35:45 <lindaGp> it was a while ago. the two that went on cone and posed for each other. and then there was a third walking around
13:35:58 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Wrong party Kat.
13:36:17 <ynpvisitor86> cone walkers have an April court date I think
13:36:30 <lindaGp> ynpvisitor86, ah inthought it was march
13:36:42 <Kat> Dave from B™, I hope park stays open too - I can isolate there for sure!
13:36:45 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Hope the get the same or more than the last ones did.
13:36:53 <CraigC> I never heard back on the 2 that I turned in for walking out on 3 Sisters
13:36:58 <ynpvisitor86> Think of being a gate person...
13:37:01 <lindaGp> everytime i swing cam roof I think fo
13:37:19 <lindaGp> i think of them
13:37:19 <Kat> ynpvisitor86, No thanks
13:37:26 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I have been looking at the Cumbres & Toltec site. They plan to run trains so far. :)
13:37:39 <lindaGp> wow cant type for sure
13:39:33 <lindaGp> running to get an apple
13:40:21 <Dave from B™> Dell would work better:)
13:40:31 <lindaGp> back

13:41:43 <lindaGp> gala organic, yum
13:47:28 <Joe1> three crater
13:47:30 <lindaGp> big corps donating portions of parking lots for drive thru
13:48:17 <lindaGp> OF
13:48:21 <ynpvisitor52> I am so done with the panic.
13:48:42 <lindaGp> IT GETS OLD
13:49:06 <ynpvisitor52> Why is there a run on toilet paper?
13:49:24 <lindaGp> didn't mean to yell ☺
13:49:42 <ynpvisitor52> I am past yelling
13:50:44 <Dave from B™> No President should ever say "I have the right to do a lot of things that people don't even know about>"
13:52:00 <ynpvisitor52> Does not have to, cause anyone with half a brain knows it
13:52:54 <Dave from B™> We need to find a way to talk about something fun. I really enjoyed Ryan's conversation about Riverside
13:53:01 <lindaGp> thanks again joe
13:53:25 <ynpvisitor52> Wa sgeting paint yesterday. The guy was telling me his some was having patients showing up late because they were afraid to drive through Corona California.
13:53:35 <lindaGp> let's all watch 3 crater and talk about that
13:54:17 <ynpvisitor52> sb is shutting down for safety
13:57:36 <lindaGp> three crater had more splashes than I remember
13:58:54 <Joe> I did not add any

14:12:06 <Dave from B™> prob during 3 crater
14:12:15 <ynpvisitor52> Maybe when you were talking about cone walkers?
14:12:34 <JarnoO> Initial must've happened while we were downbasin and on the Myriads
14:13:06 <lindaGp> that's right I commented that we missed a lion
14:14:24 <JarnoO> I'm thinking next Lion 1513±7m (using a little wider window this time and see how that works out)
14:16:19 <lindaGp> 👍
14:17:11 <lindaGp> well aurum finally
14:17:14 <JarnoO> we'll likely miss Lion anyway due to a demanding geyser

14:21:43 <Dave from B™> C'mon SB

15:31:23 <lindaGp> 😊
15:31:45 <JarnoO> so now I can add the 1525 one to it as well
15:31:46 <Dave from B™> Time to head out. I'm not used to this working thing. Have a good weekend everyone! Please wash your hands:)

15:48:17 <JarnoO> I think Churn is done for. It's steaming a little, but with that everything is said
15:48:40 <lindaGp> yeah 😕
15:49:01 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Dave took it home with him.

17:05:24 <Eric> Well, all Washington schools are closed for the next 6 weeks!
17:06:06 <Eric> Glad I work from home and my daughter is in high school. I feel for all those people with both parents working and young ones :-(
17:07:16 <LindaGt> Wow 6 weeks
17:07:19 <Eric> Federal emergency shutdown the cam too?

17:08:02 <LindaGt> 😯
17:08:08 <Eric> Good thing you are not there!
17:12:17 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Here is a graph of the flow rates:,00060,00010,00095,72020
17:13:34 <LindaGt> That would be a nice graph if it were steamboat
17:14:20 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Looks like that big yellow and red blob I sent you made it up there.
17:15:06 <LindaGt> 😊sure does
17:22:31 <Kevin L™ 🌵> It's alive!

17:28:56 <Eric> That is some serious flood waters!
17:31:45 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I'll make you a great deal on a piece of land...
17:31:58 <LindaGt> Kansas and Nebraska might float away
17:33:47 <LindaGt> I guess really south Dakota and Nebraska
17:34:06 <JarnoO> will make for some nice flowering later on I think
17:34:47 <Kevin L™ 🌵> There should be some good flowers on the train ride next week.
17:39:05 <Betty> hi all
17:39:11 <Jeff> hey betty
17:39:18 <JarnoO> hi Betty
17:39:26 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Hi
17:39:37 <Betty> hi Jeff, JarnoO, Kevin L™ 🌵
17:44:21 <Betty> OT
17:49:40 <JarnoO> Riverside
17:49:41 <Betty> Riverside
17:51:01 <JarnoO> also, the 0803 and 1154 Riverside's really did happen, in case you didn't catch what Ryan said a few hours ago
17:54:35 <JarnoO> Daisy
17:54:59 <JarnoO> 1h56m interval :)
17:55:44 <Eric> interesting...and this one was sub 6 hours
17:56:12 <Eric> I think the last time we had short riverside, one of the ones near it was also about 30 minutes early
17:56:32 <JarnoO> looks very peaceful in the basin now
17:56:37 <Eric> Yep, 4h54m next one was 5h59m
17:56:54 <Eric> this one 3h51m then 5h55m
17:58:13 <Eric> the previous short intervals then bounced back to 6h13m
18:00:22 <JarnoO> I remember such things happening fairly often when it started to shift to shorter intervals 1 or 2 years ago - a few very short intervals (sub-6h was considered short back then) followed by some longer ones. The shorter intervals started happening much more frequently as time passed and thus we now have a ~6h interval for Riverside, opposed to ~6½-7h when I first joined
18:01:00 <JarnoO> perhaps it's trying to go even more frequently
18:01:06 <Eric> Will be interesting to see what it does!@
18:01:14 <JarnoO> indeed
18:01:48 <JarnoO> maybe it received some water and heat influx from F&M?
18:25:58 <ynpvisitor92> Two words for you all.
18:26:04 <ynpvisitor92> moose boulder
18:28:44 <KevinS> Linda, SB at noon tomorrow. +/- 6 hours

18:30:32 <ynpvisitor27> ooh, Grand up next?
18:31:07 <ynpvisitor27> unless it has a false start Eric
18:31:29 <Eric> Well, there are probably a thousand "unlesses" :-P
18:31:37 <ynpvisitor27> at least
18:31:45 <Eric> But ya gotta put a steak in the ground someplace
18:31:49 <Eric> or a stake
18:33:30 <KevinS> wolves prefer the steak in the ground!
18:33:43 <Eric> True that
18:35:57 <KevinS> I just finished slicing 20lbs of beef rump roast in thin slices for jerky curing. Our main food stash whe I go back into the park!
