04:00:24 <JarnoO> morning all
04:47:57 <JarnoO> a Lion
05:51:11 <CraigC> I'd guess SB could go at any time at this poing
05:51:16 <CraigC> point
05:51:36 <Joe> Good Morning CraigC
05:51:58 <CraigC> hey Joe, how are you
05:52:23 <Joe> Fair, and you?
05:52:35 <CraigC> same :)
05:53:26 <CraigC> feel like life is in limbo with this covid
05:53:40 <JarnoO> morning Rice, Terry, Craig
05:53:55 <CraigC> I am not going to buy anything because it could be in vain if I die
05:54:07 <CraigC> I want a truck, but am holding off
05:56:20 <Joe> Buy a vehicle you can never afford, that way you wont die :)
05:57:27 <Ryan> Nice double spike. There goes the Echinus pulse theory
05:58:01 <Ryan> Guess the SB vigil begins. I still think sometime today
05:58:10 <JarnoO> morning Ryan
05:58:23 <Ryan> Part of me wants it to go in the dark though so we have a 100% night rate
05:58:38 <Ryan> Morning, JArnoO. I liked your Lion email a heck of a lot!!
05:59:03 <JarnoO> thanks :)
06:01:35 <Ryan> Wonder if yesterdays warm temps have something to do with the double spike. It did go from really cold (15F) to warm (50F) in a few hours.
06:01:55 <JarnoO> I was thinking the same
06:03:12 <Ryan> Tantalus had a weir spike in temp, too. SB is also a bit high. I think the second spike is atmosphere related.
06:04:10 <JarnoO> because also Constant shows the same spike, as well as Gray Lakes. It's unfortunate other "control loggers" like Tantalus Creek and Vixen Soil are dead
06:04:27 <Ryan> The Echinus second spike is also a good bit lower than usual.
06:04:46 <Ryan> JarnoO the USGS has a Tantalus temp logger. I use that for a "control"
06:05:19 <JarnoO> the gauge?
06:05:59 <Ryan> Yeah it monitors temp too
06:06:06 <JarnoO>
06:06:27 <Ryan> Also you did great at spelling and grammar.
06:07:12 <JarnoO> good to hear :)
06:09:31 <JarnoO> OF
06:13:12 <Joe> Le Lion
06:13:54 <JarnoO> obviously Lion is now trying its best to remove any value of that post :P
06:15:00 <JarnoO> though as it was an initial, it would fall within that 5 minutes past window
06:18:48 <JarnoO> Arty ie?
06:19:32 <Betty> morning guys
06:19:54 <JarnoO> afternoon Betty
06:20:05 <JarnoO> Arty definitely ie
06:20:15 <Betty> afternoon Jarno
06:20:53 <JarnoO> Grand?
06:21:08 <Joe> Daisy
06:21:16 <JarnoO> doesn't look big enough for Grand
06:21:53 <Betty> maybe Turban
06:22:17 <JarnoO> maybe Rift :P
06:22:32 <JarnoO> but in all seriousness, Turban would be very possible
06:24:44 <CraigC> hey Betty
06:28:07 <Betty> morning CraigC and Joe
06:28:19 <Joe> something in midway gb?
06:28:36 <JarnoO> probably Excelsior and friends
06:28:38 <Betty> looks like
06:28:41 <Joe> Good afternoon Betty
06:29:22 <CraigC> in my experience, it is usually Grand Prismatic that puts out the most steam when I have driven past early in the AM
06:30:21 <Joe> OT
06:30:28 <CraigC> there have been WTF moments approaching from Fountain area from so much steam over the trees there
06:30:57 <Betty> yeah
06:31:05 <JarnoO> that would actually make more sense. Given that Grand Prismatic has a deep blue color to it, it would suggest it's also a rather deep pool capable of storing more heat in it than Excelsior's comparatively light blue color
06:32:04 <CraigC> and the larger surface area can allow more evaporation, no?
06:32:13 <JarnoO> that too
06:34:27 <CraigC> anyone wondering if SB is going to erupt in the next 6 to 10 hours?
06:34:56 <CraigC> it looked pretty hot on the last log
06:35:01 <Betty> on my very first trip to the park we came in that way from West Yellowstone. The first view of Fountain area (and Fountain did erupt just to please me and my first view on a geyser :-) ) was the hooking part to geyser love :heart:
06:35:12 <Joe> not wondering, thinking pretty sure
06:36:11 <CraigC> Betty, I always get an adrenaline surge as I cross the Nez Perce before coming around the trees for that opening view
06:36:25 <Joe> my prediction models....
06:36:37 <CraigC> Joe,
06:36:47 <CraigC> all 30 of them?
06:37:01 <Joe> :)
06:37:16 <Betty> yes. That is one reason why I like to stay in West Yellowstone. It is that pretty way in
06:39:25 <CraigC> If we are able to get into the park this season, I want to try out Madison Campground... that is, if there are any available slots
06:41:34 <Betty> I still hope to be able to go to the park
06:43:05 <CraigC> I am waiting to see if China has a round 2. If not, my guess is park could open in July or August
06:48:30 <CraigC> hope Dave doesn't come in
06:49:05 <Joe> Lets send him a text :)
06:49:13 <CraigC> hahaha
06:50:07 <CraigC> text sent
06:56:03 <JarnoO> Bulger ie
06:57:35 <CraigC> hey Kat
06:57:43 <JarnoO> morning Kat
06:57:52 <Kat> Morning Joe, Betty Craig, Jarno and Betty
06:58:06 <Joe> Hi Kat
06:58:08 <CraigC> Betty AND Betty
06:58:39 <Kat> Her other Betty - only on 2nd coffee
06:58:46 <Kat> :)
06:58:46 <CraigC> ;)
07:00:47 <Betty> lol, Hi Kat
07:01:01 <Kat> ;)
07:01:13 <Betty> nice you mention the dark side of mine
07:02:14 <JarnoO> another Turban?
07:02:17 <JarnoO> morning KevinS
07:02:38 <KevinS> JarnoO, morning
07:03:36 <Kat> KevinS, Hi
07:04:51 <Kat> AL
07:05:00 <Ryan> Sent a follow up to both Craig and JarnoO
07:05:32 <Kat> LC
07:06:11 <JarnoO> I've also sent Craig a follow-up about his valid point about pauses (and Steamboat). It seems like it needs some kind of approval :P
07:06:58 <Betty> hi KevinS and Ryan
07:07:06 <Ryan> My input was mostly context on whats considered pauses versus a new eruption elsewhere in Yellowstone.
07:08:02 <CraigC> Ryan, this is exactly what was in my mind; "a brief interruption in the above ground manifestation of the subterranean eruption process. "
07:08:20 <JarnoO> I've read that. Thanks for that. I will consider that when I look at the data again, this time more specifically for intervals following a paused eruption
07:09:31 <JarnoO> obviously some feet on the ground would help with that as well, documenting what they hear and such if Lion pauses during an eruption
07:11:49 <Ryan> Sent one more follow up re: Lone Star and Castle both of which exhibit iterruptions of above ground eruptions but those interruptions are NOT breif.
07:13:18 <CraigC> "Geysers are weird." hahaha
07:13:35 <Betty> can we have a brief look at Grand please?
07:13:52 <CraigC> for me, they are Rubik's puzzles that just haven't been solved...YET
07:14:16 <Betty> thx
07:14:42 <JarnoO> and just when you think you've worked them out...
07:14:50 <Ryan> Same here except the Rubix cube's turn on their own while I am trying to turn them.
07:15:00 <Ryan> Jinx lol
07:15:10 <Betty> back to Lion, :-)
07:15:27 <CraigC> if covid doesn;t take me, then I belive within my lifetime there will be invented live imaging of the underground activity
07:16:50 <CraigC> Ryan, have you tried any of the other rubik's puzzles?
07:17:01 <CraigC> the clock stumped me
07:17:19 <Ryan> 'Lone Star and Castle don't actually stop erupting' I'll take Friday's controversial statement from Ryan for $500, please Alex.
07:17:31 <Ryan> No I have not Craig
07:17:59 <CraigC> maybe "don't actually stop boiling"?
07:18:20 <Ryan> Several geysers never stop boiling. OF never stops.
07:18:28 <CraigC> ok
07:18:43 <Ryan> But there is a difference between boiling and eruptive activity.
07:19:17 <CraigC> some universtiy needs to dedicate an specific engineering section for solving the models
07:19:42 <Ryan> Geophysics lab lol
07:19:53 <Ryan> I think Mara is generally doing that
07:19:55 <CraigC> I am serious
07:20:10 <Ryan> So am I
07:20:34 <CraigC> enough money and resources to test all combinations of passages and vents
07:21:13 <JarnoO> You'd find me in such lab all day, Craig
07:21:21 <JarnoO> roar
07:21:48 <JarnoO> Lion
07:21:49 <Ryan> I think you could do it mathematically now
07:21:56 <Kat> :lion:
07:22:03 <JarnoO> ew, maths
07:22:11 <CraigC> Ryan, how has that worked with string theory? ;)
07:22:34 <Ryan> It is way more simple than string theory lol
07:22:37 <CraigC> "it is 10, or maybe 11, dimensions" 10 or 11????
07:22:40 <JarnoO> minor so far
07:22:56 <Ryan> 4 dimensions actually
07:23:04 <Ryan> Eh, 5 I guess.
07:23:10 <ChrisO> yall talking geyser models, or something more?
07:23:11 <JarnoO> and done
07:23:13 <Ryan> X, Y, Z, T, and t.
07:23:14 <CraigC> did they change it since I stopped reading about it? LOL
07:23:31 <Ryan> I mean geyser modelling.
07:23:37 <ynpvisitor101> I know I signed up for the LC text alert, but who in the bleep signed me up for the bison alert?
07:23:45 <ChrisO> thanks, sorry still working on the first cup of coffee
07:23:56 <Ryan> X, Y, Z are your location coordinates and T is temperature and t is time.
07:24:37 <Ryan> at that point it becomes a finite element model. You'd have to add P for pressure and rho for density too
07:24:48 <Ryan> There was a bison text?
07:24:53 <Ryan> Not me.
07:24:59 <Dave from B™> Good morning earthlings
07:25:04 <Ryan> Oh, Dave.
07:25:07 <Betty> morning Dave from B™
07:25:15 <Ryan> You're getting texts for birds now.
07:25:23 <CraigC> I'd pull all my grant money if I visited the lab and they were using calculators instead of physical contraptions :)
07:25:28 <Kat> Dave from B™, Morning
07:25:33 <Dave from B™> Ooooh. I love birds
07:25:39 <Ryan> You'd probably use both, Craig.
07:25:51 <CraigC> Ryan, I know, but you getg the gist
07:25:56 <Ryan> Yup
07:26:08 <JarnoO> 56s. Next Lion @ 0741±10m
07:26:09 <Ryan> You'd make some computer models and the build the real thing.
07:26:15 <JarnoO> provided the series continues, that is
07:26:23 <CraigC> yep, people like visual displays
07:26:41 <Ryan> Make the computer models fit reality, and then expand the physical model... repeat that cycle.
07:27:11 <CraigC> even cartoon visuals are better than just anarrative
07:27:36 <Ryan> That process is how basically every mathematical model has been created. You make math to fit reality and then use the math to explain reality.
07:28:10 <ChrisO> the problem with models...they are only as good as the data that is put in.
07:28:30 <Ryan> Everything from a simple chain/pulley to a nuclear reactor or an airplane gets designed that way.
07:28:41 <CraigC> or how much glue you get on the wheels
07:28:52 <Dave from B™> So, Mara can build me a model of SB in my backyard?
07:29:13 <Ryan> Thats why its a constant cycle, ChrisO. If you'r data conflicts with the model then check the data. If the data is correct then modify the model so it fits the data.
07:29:45 <CraigC> Dave from B™, how big is you ryard?
07:29:56 <Dave from B™> I'd like to make one adjustment, however. Can we point it at the ATV's going by?
07:29:58 <Ryan> Eventually you bounce back and forth until it works together.
07:30:13 <Dave from B™> Not very big and it is hilly
07:30:29 <Dave from B™> I have room behind our property.
07:31:20 <JarnoO> morning Cooper
07:31:24 <ChrisO> they have tried updating the data, and the model im referring to lol...They can still only do 3 days out with any accuracy
07:31:28 <Dave from B™> Seems like Mara is having fun
07:31:31 <Cooper> Hi Jarno
07:31:40 <Ryan> Which model is that?
07:31:46 <Ryan> The weather? lol
07:31:49 <ChrisO> yep
07:32:15 <Ryan> Chaotic systems are chaotic and you will probably find geysers are the same way in many instances.
07:32:23 <Kat> Dome
07:32:23 <Ryan> Dome
07:32:31 <Ryan> We still can't model air correctly :D
07:33:05 <JarnoO> to be fair, the weather depends on so many variables, of which one minute change can impact predictions by a lot
07:33:20 <Cooper> Jarno, I loved your article! Great information, gave me an insight into it that I never had. Thanks for writing it. I hope you dont mnd I shared it with my family(their favortie Geyser is Lion) and they were awe-stricken, and we were all very impressed, you write better English than I do!
07:33:27 <Kat> LS still going
07:34:05 <Ryan> Anytime it moves between 30% and 95% the speed of sound you start have some really big problems. Anything between 95% and 102% the speed of sound? For-effing-get about it. Past about 103% the speed of sound (Mach 1.03) it gets a lot nicer.
07:34:20 <Cooper> does anyone know anyone that live in Birmingham, Jackson, Tuscaloosa, Hoover, Monroe, or Memphis, Nashville, New Orleans, Atlanta??
07:34:48 <JarnoO> well, Cooper, the first line even explicitly allows sharing the article provided attribution is given. I think you're more than fine :)
07:34:53 <Ryan> Mach 0.95 to 1.02 is so tricky and chaotic that most airplanes do not stay in that zone, they either accelerate through and decelrate through.
07:35:01 <Cooper> Thanks.
07:35:22 <Ryan> JAckson, Monroe, NAshville, and Atlanta. Whats up?
07:35:41 <Cooper> I made sure to say that it was written by JarnoO(they ahd no idea who you are) so I explained he is a crazy intelligent dutch, who knows everything about Lion :)
07:35:49 <Dave from B™> LC lives in that area
07:35:51 <Cooper> https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/national_forecast/natfcst.php
07:35:58 <Dave from B™> Storm abrewin'?
07:35:59 <Cooper> https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/
07:36:05 <Cooper> https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/day3otlk.html
07:36:27 <Ryan> Yeah, they's aware
07:36:30 <Cooper> Dave, possibly the biggest Severe Storms outbreak of the centry(I would say decade, but that started 4 months ago)
07:36:36 <Ryan> They are getting the crap kicked out of them right now.
07:36:51 <JarnoO> excuse you, Cooper, I may know a lot about Lion, but that's perhaps not even a percentage of what actually happens
07:37:07 <Cooper> well, I was trying to get the point across.
07:37:28 <JarnoO> I know, I know :)
07:38:06 <Cooper> I am still impressed how many "big" english words you used well.
07:39:14 <JarnoO> you can thank my English teachers for that. They hammer down on using a varied vocabulary so large texts aren't boring to read
07:39:52 <Cooper> I will have more information on the severe storms as we get closer, but I would go down there if we weren't on lock-down. I mean, this is 3 days away(including today), and I alreadt sitting high in my sit, getting goosebumps just thinking about it.
07:40:11 <Cooper> Well, thank your english teachers for me, and show them that article, they would be impressed.
07:40:23 <Cooper> you should get some sort of extra credit
07:41:01 <JarnoO> plus, they teach British English, which by itself is already a language which uses many different words to convey the same meaning
07:41:33 <Cooper> makes sense, who would teach American English :p We are weird here.
07:41:37 <Ryan> Follow up from a couple days ago: Extended family member does not have COVID, they did have a heart attack and do have pneumonia though. They are slowly coming off the ventilator and after a few days of not looking good are slowly getting better. Still critical though, but stable.
07:42:19 <JarnoO> varied word usage is something which I don't experience often in the American "version"
07:42:19 <Dave from B™> Thanks for the update, Ryan. Hoping for a continued speedy recovery
07:42:29 <Kat> OF
07:42:32 <Cooper> Sorry to hear that Ryan, but glad everything is getting better. my thoughts are with you.
07:42:53 <Ryan> Thank y'all kindly.
07:43:16 <Ryan> JarnoO do you know how many usages the word "shit" has?
07:43:45 <JarnoO> not quite, no
07:44:06 <Cooper> LMAO Ryan
07:44:29 <Ryan> At least a dozen, if not more. Variable word usage is actually quite common in American English as is the alternative: multiple words with the same meaning.
07:44:56 <Dave from B™> No ****
07:45:06 <JarnoO> :)
07:45:11 <Ryan> Its partly why social media is so hard because without context, phrasing, and verbal cues you can have a dozen or more meanings to a single comment.
07:46:45 <Mike J> That's the challenge I through myself in all written communication. No emojis, abbreviations, etc. Just figuire out how to say it so the reader understands the context
07:46:49 <Cooper> JarnoO, 2 questions, that are semi random....
07:47:00 <Mike J> Not always easy. (And not always successful.)
07:47:10 <Ryan> RIFT MAJOR!!!
07:47:12 <Cooper> when did you find out about geysers and get super interested in them, and how did oyu find out about them2?
07:49:14 <Ryan> Gopd, Rift is way less impressive at 0.25fps
07:49:14 <Cooper> Hi Linda
07:49:25 <LindaG> How can I be 2 minutes behind?
07:49:29 <LindaG> Cooper, hi
07:50:00 <LindaG> Good morning all!
07:50:37 <Joe> le ie
07:50:40 <JarnoO> When I found out about geysers? Somewhere around 2016 due to I think Wikipedia showing Old Faithful erupting on their front page. I read about it and wanted to know more about them in general. For some reason a video showing Beehive erupting popped up at the same time on YouTube as well.
07:50:42 <Betty> morning LindaG and Mike J
07:50:51 <LindaG> Betty, hi
07:51:02 <JarnoO> Bulger ie
07:51:06 <Ryan> Gizmo major!!!!
07:51:09 <Betty> JarnoO, you have a link for your article?
07:51:24 <Cooper> Betty, it was on listserve
07:51:26 <Ryan> Its a Gizmo/Rift concert!
07:51:40 <Betty> how do I get listserve?
07:51:55 <JarnoO> you might know it as the Google Group, Betty
07:51:59 <Cooper> uhm, I think you ahve to join some google group
07:52:27 <Dave from B™> Link should be on this page somewhere
07:53:03 <Dave from B™> Under notes...select message board
07:53:52 <LindaG> http://www.geyserstudy.org/listserv.aspx
07:54:52 <CraigC> baffles me that a group of hyper-intelligent people use such a silly medium for a discussion board
07:55:19 <Ryan> .....hyper intelligent?
07:55:33 <CraigC> all other smart groups I have interacted with use phpBB type format
07:55:39 <Ryan> Surely you dont mean the group that contains Ryan Maurer and Will Boekel?
07:56:28 <Dave from B™> CraigC, are you a member of this group?
07:56:45 <CraigC> Dave from B™, yes :)
07:56:51 <Dave from B™> Am I a member of this group?:)
07:57:07 <Dave from B™> So, we even the stats out
07:57:26 <CraigC> LOL
07:58:01 <CraigC> sorry, I used to be smarter, I should leave so that it doesn't bring the curve down
07:58:31 <Ryan> Welcome to the geyser gazers, yearly fee is 5 IQ points
07:58:32 <JarnoO> Perhaps phpBB could be used as part of the GOSA site if the rewrite of the site ever materializes
07:58:33 <Dave from B™> I'm losing brain cells everyday
07:58:41 <Mike J> Good belated morning Betty
07:59:26 <CraigC> 5 IQ points from GG, added to natures 20.... ughhh
07:59:53 <Kat> Hi Mike J, LindaG,
08:00:46 <Dave from B™> CraigC, don't sell yourself short. You're at least 3 times that:)
08:01:17 <LindaG> Kat, hi
08:01:38 <Dave from B™> Getting back to geysers....Nice to see things progressing on Norris data loggers
08:01:58 <Dave from B™> I stand by my 410 pm on 4/10 prediction
08:02:49 <Cooper> I stand by my 1641 prediction.
08:02:56 <Cooper> 1601**
08:03:02 <Cooper> geez can I not type
08:03:16 <Ryan> What the heck. I'll put 4 IQ points down on 08:43
08:03:19 <JarnoO> and I use a 24h window centered at 1541
08:03:35 <Ryan> +/-15 min
08:03:51 <Cooper> so Jarno 1541, Dave 1610, and me 1601.
08:04:01 <Cooper> and then there is Ryan, 0843 :p
08:04:03 <Ryan> 043 for me
08:04:18 <Ryan> I am feeling short today
08:04:51 <ChrisO> which one are yall doing?
08:04:57 <CraigC> I'm watching for it presently.... I think it is ready to go at anytime, given it could have strong minors that use up energy and spread it out longer
08:05:12 <JarnoO> Castle major
08:05:19 <Joe> My model says, well she doesn't say much but sure is purdy :)
08:05:21 <Ryan> Thats Gizmo, JarnoO
08:05:30 <Ryan> Joe, HAHAHA
08:05:38 <JarnoO> oh, Shell Spring major, then
08:05:41 <JarnoO> :P
08:05:42 <CraigC> Joe, LMAO
08:05:45 <Ryan> Thank you for that... and yes Craig I expect it on any update
08:05:53 <Kat>
08:05:58 <Ryan> OMG, its CRESTED!!!
08:06:24 <Ryan> Thats actually a nice major
08:06:36 <JarnoO> no, not Shell Spring. Tortoise Shell Spring major
08:06:54 <Ryan> It is Sheild Spring.
08:07:13 <Joe> Riverside
08:07:15 <JarnoO> Riverside
08:07:22 <Ryan> I just moved Sheild Spring 80 some odd feet.
08:07:46 <JarnoO> OT ie
08:07:56 <Dave from B™> haha Joe
08:08:53 <JarnoO> This is fun. Lots going in a short timeframe
08:09:21 <Dave from B™> Snoozefest coming soon
08:09:40 <TGIF> LITTLE SQUIRT
08:09:48 <TGIF> NS?
08:10:04 <Betty> LC
08:10:18 <JarnoO> probably still ie since yesterday evening, Ryan
08:12:09 <Kat> LS - 1957 yesterday
08:12:10 <JarnoO> is that SC ie on static?
08:12:41 <JarnoO> could the cam be panned to SC for a bit?
08:13:28 <Dave from B™> I ask a question a couple of days ago and had no response. Has anyone done a study on Little Cub?
08:13:32 <Dave from B™> asked*
08:13:49 <Kat> Yes
08:13:51 <TGIF> Mara
08:14:02 <JarnoO> thanks for the pan
08:14:03 <CraigC> a memory came up that is really funny to me, given that it was from before I ever came to this dashboard chat: https://imgur.com/rgnGaFo
08:14:30 <ChrisO> lol
08:15:04 <Dave from B™> haha. You sure you didn't post that on 4/1?
08:15:45 <CraigC> I used to have my personal laptop at my work with the generic streaming webcam, minus all of you people
08:15:52 <Dave from B™> Good to know you have been obsessed with Sasquatch for many years. I'm glad you finally found him.
08:16:14 <JarnoO> :D
08:16:24 <JarnoO> Daisy in window
08:16:30 <Dave from B™> Well, thanks for finding this page. We've had a lot of good laughs in the past couple of years; both here and in person.
08:17:00 <CraigC> Dave from B™, yeah we have.... I have stayed, as I usually tire of stuff after a while
08:17:35 <TGIF> So you're saying I need to try hard?
08:17:40 <TGIF> harder*
08:17:54 <ynpvisitor42> Did we miss Daisy?
08:18:07 <JarnoO> I don't think so, #42. Yet, that is
08:18:10 <Dave from B™> Well, thanks for sticking around. Your formal adoption of Cooper says a lot about who you are:)
08:18:22 <JarnoO> AB
08:18:28 <TGIF> I just choked on my coffee.
08:18:34 <ynpvisitor42> Thanks CO
08:18:36 <Kat> Really!
08:18:52 <Dave from B™> I'm also getting stares at work
08:18:58 <CraigC> hahahah
08:19:07 <ynpvisitor42> :)
08:19:34 <Kat> not
08:19:46 <JarnoO> Finally! Less than 60 minutes between first entry and last entry in the GT panel on this page
08:20:06 <Dave from B™> CraigC, how is the trimming project going?
08:25:55 <CraigC> Dave from B™, done trimming, done taking all the branches to the green dump, now just have to stack all the wood we cut to burn next winter in our stove
08:26:32 <Dave from B™> Nice. What's the next project?
08:26:43 <CraigC> with 5 willow trees we have an endless supply of firewood
08:26:45 <STGIF> Spasmodic or Penta???
08:27:08 <CraigC> next project is re-wiring my boat trailer, cuz the dog got underneath and chewed up the wires
08:27:18 <Dave from B™> You should buy a moose. That would take care of your willow problem.
08:27:38 <Dave from B™> ouch..nothing like dog generated projects
08:27:39 <CraigC> it owuld have to be a 30 foot tall moose
08:28:24 <Dave from B™> When a moose stands up and startles you in grizzly habitat, it looks 30' tall. Trust me, I'm know:)
08:28:27 <CraigC> but my wiring harness and heat shrink tubing wont be here for a few weeks.... 'non essential delivery'
08:28:36 <JarnoO> perhaps you could make a 30 foot platform for the moose to stand on?
08:29:22 <CraigC> a 30 foot platform would be helpful for my chainsawing
08:29:29 <Dave from B™> We won't to powder coat our old patio chairs.....only doing essential work as well
08:29:34 <Dave from B™> wanted*
08:30:57 <Dave from B™> I thought Joe was going to fix this cam?
08:31:40 <STGIF> It snowing here, hard. WTF.
08:32:32 <Dave from B™> We are getting that lovely stuff overnight
08:32:55 <JarnoO> Daisy
08:33:24 <STGIF> Yuck.
08:33:29 <STGIF> Its April wth?
08:33:39 <Kent> Daisy
08:33:58 <ChrisO> Yellowstone IT department is hereby fired
08:34:03 <Dave from B™> I know! We may set a record low Monday night. Current record is 15F
08:34:13 <Dave from B™> My trees don't want that
08:34:17 <CraigC> follow up on last image, this makes me laugh even more; https://imgur.com/InjKqpY
08:35:26 <STGIF> My body is not happy with this.
08:35:42 <Dave from B™> Maybe you can go skiing after work, Ryan
08:36:10 <STGIF> It wont stick its just going to be cold mud.
08:36:42 <Dave from B™> It might be a stay at home night
08:37:14 <STGIF> Yeahhh. Sunday supposed to be upper 60s again
08:37:19 <JarnoO> Lion purring
08:37:37 <Joe> hmmm, it has beeb stay at home for some time :)
08:37:47 <Joe> been
08:37:48 <Kent> Has it ever been decided what the problem is with the cam?
08:38:30 <Dave from B™> I let Joe answer that
08:38:43 <Joe> Nope, the replaced the radios, the radios work very well
08:39:19 <Dave from B™> interference somewhere?
08:39:46 <Joe> It seems to me most of the problems now are Century Link
08:40:43 <Kent> It would be good to know just out of curiosity.
08:40:57 <Kat> LC
08:42:00 <CraigC> call Comcast and get a quote ;)
08:42:04 <JarnoO> Dutch weather lore for April literally translates to "April does what it wants"
08:42:16 <CraigC> April; It does that
08:42:20 <Kent> :)
08:43:46 <Joe> Yes It would but it would require a person and test equipment set up at the Ranger Station in my opinion, but you know what they say about opinions :)
08:43:49 <STGIF> 0843...
08:43:57 <STGIF> I got 15 more minutes
08:44:31 <CraigC> Joe, "can I have some more?"?
08:44:58 <CraigC> wait, that was soup
08:45:09 <Dave from B™> "One man's opinion is another man's fact?
08:45:22 <Joe> only if you say please :)
08:45:42 <CraigC> please, sir, can I have some more opinion?
08:45:50 <Dave from B™> Is this another definition of the word...s***?
08:45:51 <Kat> :)

08:49:43 <JarnoO> things aren't looking good for the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season. The two most recent predictions have it as an above-normal season with 16 storms, of which 8 hurricans and 3 or 4 major ones. They also forecast an increased risk of tracking through the Caribbean
08:50:11 <Cooper> Jarno, been watching that. Making me happy
08:50:28 <Joe> no Dave, besides opinions everyone has one of these ' ' fill in blank
08:50:35 <Betty> yay, I managed to get on listserv :-) nice article, Jarno, great work
08:50:45 <JarnoO> for storm chasing, yes, Cooper
08:50:45 <Kat>
08:50:45 <Cooper> Tornado, and Hurricane season this year are looking up and above normal :)
08:51:01 <Cooper> can I try Joe?
08:51:11 <Joe> :)
08:51:20 <Betty> LA
08:51:22 <Cooper> is there a correct answer?
08:51:23 <Dave from B™> Betty, glad you subscribed
08:51:31 <JarnoO> thanks Betty :)
08:51:52 <Dave from B™> Cooper, go live with Kat and your opinion of hurricane season will change
08:51:52 <Cooper> Everyone has a least favorite Gyeser :)
08:51:56 <CraigC> Joe, since you and some others here aren't on FB, here is my daily YNP post for today; https://imgur.com/hkUWMZ2
08:51:58 <Betty>
08:52:09 <Cooper> I am not saying I want dangerous hurricanes to hit places, that would sych
08:52:13 <Cooper> suck**
08:52:23 <STGIF> I do.
08:52:25 <Cooper> but I do want some nice storms staying well of the coast.
08:52:29 <STGIF> Too many people on this planet.
08:52:33 <Dave from B™> wow, Craig
08:52:38 <JarnoO> nice picture, Craig
08:52:41 <Cooper> Ryan, interesting.
08:52:46 <CraigC> thanks
08:52:49 <Kat> Thx Cooper - since I live on the coast!
08:52:49 <STGIF> (Welcome to social media. Am I joking? the world may never know...)
08:53:06 <Joe> nice, Craig who posted that? :)
08:53:12 <CraigC> Joe, me
08:53:17 <Cooper> but I always like to see a nice Cat 5 staying a few hundred miles of the coast.
08:53:53 <STGIF> Repeated intense storm seasons are not really good things.
08:53:57 <CraigC> I have been trying to post positive stuff instead of political stuff
08:53:59 <STGIF> Kind of means the planet is sick :(
08:54:08 <JarnoO> I hope there won't be a second Dorian this season, nor another Irma and Maria
08:54:21 <JarnoO> Lorenzo was exciting, though
08:54:45 <Cooper> I hope there will be a Irma, Maria, and Dorian, but just different paths right through the atlantic trough, and then dissipating before reaching shore.
08:54:52 <Cooper> Lorenzo, and Sebastian were fun.
08:54:59 <Joe> Ah, nice Craig you do great camera work!!!
08:55:05 <STGIF> World has cancer. And viruses, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, and tsunamis are its chemotherapy.
08:55:48 <STGIF> Actually thats fairly accurate for viruses. They only exist to kill off the weak members of a population.
08:55:51 <JarnoO> don't forget volcanoes
08:56:20 <Joe> When i take pictures people tell me that I do not deserve to have a camera :(
08:56:23 <Betty> or supervolcanoes
08:56:45 <JarnoO> how come, Joe?
08:57:12 <Cooper> and dont froget wind storms, hailstorms, severe thudnerstorms, ect..
08:57:24 <Joe> poor composition, poor everything
08:57:36 <Dave from B™> Because the world doesn't always want to see Joe's thumb.
08:57:42 <Betty> wow, Joe. and you "owe" a cam millons of people are watching ;-) weird...
08:57:48 <Joe>
08:57:50 <CraigC> Dave from B™, hahaha
08:57:58 <CraigC> or vertical videos
08:58:11 <JarnoO> if only they knew about this cam, Joe
08:58:47 <STGIF> I did forget volcanoes. My preferred method of dying a violent natural death.
08:59:14 <Betty> we already had volcanoes, Ryan
08:59:19 <JarnoO> ah, okay Ryan. I see you want to order one Vesuvius. Anything else? :)
08:59:42 <STGIF> Too destructive (albeit spectacular)
08:59:43 <Betty> Lion
08:59:49 <Betty> purred
08:59:51 <JarnoO> not quite Lion
08:59:56 <JarnoO> good roar though
09:00:09 <Dave from B™> Ryan, wants to be run over by a slow moving lava flow
09:00:11 <Betty> love that sound
09:00:20 <Cooper> I will take a Pinatubo(I can never spell it) coffee, and a Edna sandwich.
09:00:22 <STGIF> I could go for Augustine, or Merapi, or Unzen. Something just to give me a nice localized pyroclastic flow.
09:00:48 <JarnoO> I guess Anak Krakatau isn't something for you then
09:01:08 <Cooper> hm, I would prefer Krakatoa to give me a good show actually. But I would take a small eruption like Cleveland, or Semischopohoni.
09:01:09 <STGIF> Depends on what its doing
09:01:34 <JarnoO> You mean Semisopochnoi, Cooper?
09:01:51 <Cooper> yes, I cannot speel toady
09:01:55 <STGIF> Lava fountains and pyroclastic flows are on my bucket list.
09:02:04 <STGIF> Followed very closely by lava-ocean entries.
09:02:18 <STGIF> Preferably not the last thing on my list....
09:02:31 <Cooper> maybe Manau Loa for you then?
09:02:38 <Cooper> OMG, I give up spelling today
09:02:57 <Betty> could be hard with having pyroclastc flows on your list
09:02:58 <JarnoO> Hopefully you can make it to Hawaii when one of its volcanoes is going, or any shield volcano, really
09:03:24 <STGIF> I have a trip to the Big Island in December
09:03:32 <JarnoO> nice
09:03:40 <Betty> NICE!!!
09:03:44 <Dave from B™> Fun. How many nights?
09:03:53 <Betty> I´m jealous
09:03:59 <STGIF> Just after a 36 year eruption ends, figures. And you can see pyroclastic flows and not die... usually.
09:04:02 <STGIF> 14 days
09:04:19 <Betty> awesome
09:04:29 <Dave from B™> I loved the big island. Only spent a couple hours at Kilauea but I will be back
09:04:32 <STGIF> Staying with friends. Going lava tubing, snorkeling, rock art finding, waterfalling, and /hopefully/ lava hunting.
09:04:43 <Cooper> I would, of any of the volcanoes on the hawiian island chain go Haleakala, because Kilauea already did its thing.
09:05:11 <STGIF> I have seen Kilauea's laval lake once, from a plane in 2011 flying into Honolulu.
09:05:13 <Cooper> of the cascade range, I would say Rainier.
09:05:13 <Dave from B™> I'm assuming you have liked Hawaii Volcanoes NP on FB
09:05:23 <STGIF> Yup
09:05:33 <STGIF> I have a friend who works there.
09:05:43 <Dave from B™> They are starting to rebuild and open up areas that have been closed since the big event
09:06:00 <Cooper> of California, I would say shasta. and of the rest of the US, I would say dotsero.
09:06:10 <Dave from B™> My next trip to Hawaii will be to the big island only
09:06:17 <STGIF> Lots of water influxing right now. Bodes well for me.... gimmie that explosive phreatic eruption....
09:06:41 <STGIF> I watch with envy the films from the 1950s and 1960s of the 1800ft lava fountains.
09:06:42 <JarnoO> I'm hoping to see some southwest rift action next from Kilauea, rather than from the eastern rift
09:06:55 <JarnoO> was that Kilauea Iki, Ryan?
09:07:04 <STGIF> I'd die. I'd have a heart attack and die.
09:07:09 <STGIF> Yes, Kilauea Iki
09:07:18 <STGIF> Y'all thought me in that Steamboat video was bad?
09:08:14 <JarnoO> well, I can imagine such a reaction when seeing the biggest active one of them all going right in front of you
09:08:24 <STGIF> Oh speaking of which. I found old photos and MiniDV tapes from my 2003 trip out west. I have a video of a minor eruption of SB and in the background you can hear me say to my grandfather: "Wouldn't that be something to see?"
09:08:44 <STGIF> (JarnoO, the video of me at SB is proof that the world "shit" can have several meanings in the same sentence)
09:08:53 <Dave from B™> cool, Ryan
09:09:12 <STGIF> I watched that video and chuckled and thought: give it 15 years you little turd. You'll be right back there bawling like a baby.
09:09:17 <Kat>
09:10:10 <Dave from B™> Sounds like I need to crank up the 8mm and watch sole old video
09:10:12 <Cooper> haha.
09:10:19 <Dave from B™> some*
09:10:37 <Dave from B™> It's probably too dry and stiff to work
09:10:39 <Betty> great story, Ryan
09:10:52 <STGIF> Lots of cool photos in there. Me getting my jounior ranger badge at OF in 2003. Me at Norris in 2003.
09:11:44 <STGIF> I got a bunch of old slides from my grandfather to digitize which includes photos of Yellowstone in 1972. Cool views, I dont instantly recognize some because of the wird boardwalks.
09:11:50 <Betty> I have a similar video, Ryan. I told my broth how cool it would be if it would erupt while we were there
09:12:02 <Betty> brother*
09:12:15 <CraigC> Dave from B™, I'm not going to ask
09:12:20 <Dave from B™> I thought you were talking to a bowl of soup:)
09:12:32 <Dave from B™> really, Craig?:D
09:12:43 <STGIF> ffs craig
09:13:04 <CraigC> STGIF, how is the slide scanning turning out? Mine were awful with all the dust
09:13:28 <STtAGIF> Slow and dusty
09:13:39 <CraigC> I threw away most of the slides
09:13:40 <Dave from B™> I've really needed this last couple of hours. Thanks so much, everyone
09:13:50 <STtAGIF> the best ones get restored as well as ones the family wants for somethings.
09:13:56 <Dave from B™> Any way to clean dust off of slides?
09:14:24 <CraigC> Dave from B™, yes, razor the cardboard off, then use a liquid cleaner..... 2 hours later it mihg tbe better
09:14:26 <STtAGIF> You'd probably damage them depending on the condition of the slide. Best way is to scan them and then do digital cleanup which is what I am doing.
09:15:08 <STtAGIF> Craig's method works too. The slide just needs to be in good condition from good and proper storage. Some films age terribly in their structures and you hit them with a liquid cleanser and they fall apart :(
09:15:23 <STtAGIF> Best to find a slide you're OK with losing and test it out.
09:15:40 <Dave from B™> I know I have about 500 slides of YNP from the last 70s
09:15:48 <Dave from B™> late 70s
09:15:55 <CraigC> I had a fdew million slides of dumb stuff like F-16s flying into HAFB
09:16:05 <STtAGIF> I'll be sharing them on FB soon.
09:16:32 <Dave from B™> I need to become more computer literate when it comes to posting videos, pictures
09:16:51 <STtAGIF> Doing lots of backups and archiving: 2000 pages of cave and geyser notes, 3000 slides, 500 prints...
09:19:55 <Kat> OF
09:19:57 <Kent> 0919
09:21:20 <CraigC> I have panic attacks when I start thinking about the project of scanning all my regular negatives from 35mm

09:42:51 <LindaG> Not too late to make predictions, we did a bunch last night
09:43:14 <CraigC> my prediction is for now
09:43:14 <Dave from B™> No one can change their prediction, however:)
09:43:31 <Jeff> i got tomorrow morning at 0357 +/- 15 mins

09:44:49 <LindaG> Jeff, 👍
09:45:41 <Kat> My prediction stands at 2330 +/- 4 hours
09:46:00 <Cooper> I stand 1601 +/- 56 hours

09:47:18 <ynpvisitor84> Jeff, what did you learn about opening?
09:47:30 <LindaG> Kat, it will wait for joe
09:47:34 <Kat> I think it's Bronze.
09:47:52 <CraigC> seems like more steam is coming from there
09:48:01 <JarnoO> I recall Bronze is further right of the two plumes?

09:48:38 <CraigC> silver spring
09:48:42 <Jeff> ynpvisitor84, as of right now i havent been told anything different about when the stores are opening but it looks like delaware north is changing a few people around at lower hams
09:48:42 <CraigC> thanks, Joe
09:48:49 <Kat> NO I think Silver Spring
09:49:08 <Dave from B™> I voe for silver spring
09:49:12 <Cooper> Joe, do you have one like that for the rest of the Giant platform?
09:49:19 <Dave from B™> I hope my voe counts
09:49:35 <ynpvisitor84> I read that as vole...
09:49:39 <Joe> I do not
09:49:42 <Dave from B™> haha 84
09:49:48 <Kat> Here come the doggies
09:50:02 <Dave from B™> CraigC, can you send the text?
09:50:09 <JarnoO> LS is ie and Silver is bursting intermittently. 75% humidity and 38°F make for a steamy mess
09:50:26 <ynpvisitor84> Jeff, thanks. Shorter hours maybe?
09:51:01 <CraigC> last entry on silver spring is from you, Jarno.... how does it look right now compared to then
09:51:23 <Jeff> thats what im thinking for right now 84 cause from what i was told by one of the guys that was supposed to be a server at lower was HR called him asking if he wanted to do different job at canyon or upper
09:51:35 <Dave from B™> I'm thinking park may open but not lodging right away
09:51:42 <Jeff> and another person who was supposed to be server as well at lower got moved to cashier
09:51:59 <JarnoO> about the same I think. Most likely it's just regular action by Silver when LS is active
09:52:21 <CraigC> JarnoO, where is the line in calling it an eruption?
09:52:41 <Jake> good morning, all. DNC might be planning on take out only, ie no servers
09:52:53 <CraigC> can we look closer at Silver Spring?
09:53:07 <JarnoO> no idea, Craig
09:53:29 <Jeff> well i think they might keep a few servers to do the takeout orders jake cause a few of the people who are servers at lower havent been changed from serving
09:53:33 <Joe> Linda dis you break the camera ??
09:53:40 <Joe> Did??
09:53:59 <Dave from B™> No takeout allowed at Lower Hams in a normal year
09:54:16 <LindaG> Joe, I guess it's making a statement
09:54:20 <Jeff> dave thats if were busy but with the current situation i think they might change that
09:54:57 <Dave from B™> I thought it was to keep trash out of the basin
09:55:11 <Jeff> idk
09:55:21 <Dave from B™> Can you guys deliver to Grand?
09:55:37 <CraigC> Dave from B™, hahaha
09:55:44 <Dave from B™> I'll take a bacon hamburger with fries for 1115 am on July 22
09:55:48 <Jeff> i havent been told any policies yet for the summer but im sure ill find out if and when i get to the store
09:55:50 <Kat> That would nice Dave from B™,
09:56:15 <CraigC> bummer the lighting isnt better, and cam is choppy
09:56:41 <Jeff> dave id be happy to do that for a $3 delivery fee and 20% gratuity
09:56:45 <CraigC> I dont recall that much steam from there in all the times I have been drivng
09:57:36 <LindaGp> Bison have lined up to watch
09:57:49 <CraigC> AL
09:57:53 <CraigC> AB
09:58:36 <Jeff> the bison must know we all wanna be in basin to see whats going on lol so they are taking our place lol
09:59:24 <Kevin L™ 🌵> They are practicing to block the paths once people get there.
09:59:33 <Kat> Do you think Silver Spring is ie?
09:59:55 <CraigC> the steam at silver spring seems to be pulsing, no? It isn't just steady
09:59:57 <KevinS> Thanks for bison text
10:00:19 <Kat> It does Craig
10:00:41 <LindaG> Hmmm I didnt get bison text
10:00:49 <Dave from B™> It's a deal Jeff. But, don't let any other floppy hats steal it
10:01:28 <Jeff> ill write names and orders on the boxes so i know what order goes to each floppy hat lol
10:01:28 <Kat> Cam releasing if your ready Linda
10:01:41 <CraigC> s'pose intermittent would be a more apropos word than pulsing
10:02:12 <Kat> I didn't get a bison text either! Fake news
10:02:13 <LindaGp> Kat, yup
10:02:21 <ynpvisitor83> First they have to reopen the park, which will hopefully be delayed into June
10:02:40 <Kat> Released bbs
10:02:53 <ChrisO> USGS should use the free time and do another mapping
10:03:02 <LindaGp> I do have it, but frozen
10:03:16 <Jeff> 83 i guess were gonna have to wait and see what NPS decides
10:03:28 <KevinS> Just got my YNM text
10:03:58 <ynpvisitor83> You don’t have a start date do you Jeff?
10:04:07 <Cooper> what YNM text?
10:04:24 <KevinS> There was nothing on it Cooper
10:04:39 <Dave from B™> Pressure to open things up will substantially increase when Memorial Day approaches
10:04:50 <Dave from B™> I do not envy politicians
10:04:51 <Jeff> as of right now may 1st for setup and may 25th at lower 83 but im gonna assume it may change
10:05:11 <Jeff> dave i know they have upper, canyon, FB, and mammoth opening the 22nd for now
10:05:55 <ynpvisitor83> It would be tragic to open Memorial Day weekend
10:06:07 <ChrisO> doggies need to start cleaning up after themselves lol
10:06:25 <ynpvisitor83> Who is they? You mean Xanterra?
10:06:26 <JarnoO> Dome
10:06:50 <ynpvisitor83> That is speculative only
10:06:51 <Jeff> ynpvisitor83, but until i get either a phone call or an email stating my start date gets changed again i can only plan on my curent start date. and by they i mean delaware north
10:07:26 <CraigC> Joe, are you here?
10:07:47 <Joe> yes
10:07:48 <ynpvisitor83> I cannot think of a worse place to be than a dormitory situation right now
10:08:24 <LindaGp> OT IE
10:08:33 <CraigC> Joe, if you get time, can you do a little bit of video of silver spring and attach to my note?
10:08:50 <Joe> OK
10:08:54 <CraigC> thanks
10:09:04 <CraigC> Joe, does it look different to you?
10:10:13 <Dave from B™> Can I start a political discussion if you guys promise not to talk about an individual or a party?
10:11:11 <Dave from B™> I know there is a minimum age to be President.....Can we have a maximum age to? I pick 60
10:11:17 <Rice> Dave from B™, Not sure what there would be to discuss?
10:11:18 <KevinS> No fish stories Dave
10:11:29 <ChrisO> term limits
10:11:56 <Dave from B™> I'm not just talking about this year. I'm 57 and not as sharp as I used to be. What happens when I'm in my 70's?
10:12:03 <CraigC> Dave from B™, I would say 70, but public health and psychological assessments
10:12:10 <ynpvisitor49> No retirement pay
10:12:40 <Joe> Craig, I only have to 0942 then the cam failed for me
10:12:58 <CraigC> Joe, dang, thanks, though
10:13:06 <KevinS> Well Dave, that makes us look at the supreme court differently too.
10:14:36 <Dave from B™> I'm all for respecting my elders but do we want people who are NOT at the top of their game?
10:14:59 <Dave from B™> As far as retirement, let their book deals take care of that
10:15:46 <Dave from B™> ok...I'm done
10:15:57 <Dave from B™> Back to Silver Spring:)
10:16:20 <LindaGp> mental acuity I important, but so is experience. 65 limit
10:16:37 <CraigC> Dave from B™, I like the topic
10:17:10 <Dave from B™> Linda, that was my first inclination. I'd be okay with that
10:17:49 <Dave from B™> I know this would ruin Joe's presidential attempt in 2024
10:18:30 <CraigC> I could never run, cuz I inhaled
10:18:36 <LindaGp> Mine too
10:18:51 <Kevin L™ 🌵> How about the voters? Should they be limited in age?
10:19:08 <Jeff> i doubt id ever get elected even if i decided to run
10:19:39 <CraigC> how about a competency test for voters, ask the definitions between socialism, communism, fascism
10:20:05 <LindaGp> inthink daisy has been going early
10:20:06 <Kevin L™ 🌵> One question: Are you really sane if you WANT to be president?
10:20:11 <Dave from B™> Now you guys are going too far
10:20:15 <Dave from B™> I don't
10:20:24 <CraigC> Kevin L™ 🌵, good ppoint
10:20:34 <ChrisO> 30, and american citizen for 5+ years
10:20:47 <Dave from B™> haha. I missed sane and to it as sure
10:20:59 <Dave from B™> took*
10:21:13 <Dave from B™> I'd rather be park supt
10:21:40 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I wouldn't even want that.
10:21:57 <CraigC> I'd rather be Dave
10:22:16 <LindaGp> Aurum is at about 16 hrs
10:22:18 <Dave from B™> you, too? I thought it was just your mom?
10:22:24 <CraigC> LOL
10:22:27 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Dave can't eat fish. That would be terrible.
10:22:40 <CraigC> yes, my mom wishes I were Dave
10:23:12 <CraigC> "Craig, why can't you be more handsome like that Dave?"
10:23:14 <Betty> lol Craig
10:23:56 <Eric> Morning All
10:24:02 <Betty> I think both of you are handsome, Craig and Dave
10:24:03 <CraigC> hey Eric
10:24:08 <Jeff> morning eric
10:24:10 <Betty> and Eric
10:24:15 <CraigC>
10:24:19 <Eric> Hi Betty, Jeff, & Craig
10:24:24 <LindaGp> Eric, hi
10:24:31 <Eric> Hi Linda
10:24:40 <Eric> You are totally handsome Craig!
10:24:48 <Dave from B™> Thanks, Betty
10:24:49 <CraigC> hahahaha
10:24:54 <Dave from B™> Morning Eric
10:24:57 <LindaGp> 😃
10:24:58 <Eric> Hi Dave
10:24:59 <CraigC> Eric, I can't wait to hug you
10:25:10 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I would like to be a guide. When I would drive the NDOT bus to places I knew the history and little fun things. People always wanted to go with me because the trips was fun instead of dull ride in the desert.
10:25:12 <Eric> :heart::heart::heart:
10:25:29 <LindaGp> This board has taken a turn. Lol
10:25:34 <Dave from B™> Belly bump would be more entertaining
10:25:39 <CraigC> LindaGp, LMAO
10:25:47 <Eric> That would probably happen with the hug Dave :-P
10:25:57 <LindaGp> 😁
10:25:57 <Betty> hahahaha, Dave
10:26:04 <Eric> This shelter in place is not doing my figure any good!
10:26:06 <Dave from B™> Kevin, that would be fun if it was a small group who was actually interested in learning
10:26:14 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Would any of us qualify as a sane voter now?
10:26:20 <CraigC> Kevin L™ 🌵, how about when tourists ask you when the Big One is going to blow, cuz Mary G said it is really soon?
10:26:45 <Kevin L™ 🌵> First a big laugh.
10:26:51 <CraigC> ;)
10:27:01 <Betty> Mary G is blowing soon?
10:27:09 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Then I tell them it goes about every 600 million years.
10:27:19 <CraigC> fingers
10:28:22 <Kevin L™ 🌵> We know Davespeak here Craig.
10:28:52 <CraigC> every time the YNP page on FB has an article, people ask about when the volcano is going to blow..... teh innerwebs has opened my eyes to how many freaks are among us
10:29:20 <Dave from B™> I have highly educated surgeons who asked me the same thing
10:29:49 <Dave from B™> It's everywhere, CraigC....It could start to affect home prices in the area!
10:29:57 <Dave from B™> :D
10:30:08 <CraigC> freaks are all around us
10:30:33 <CraigC> google is a click away, and people choose to be stupid instead
10:30:43 <Betty> I love to be freaky
10:30:59 <CraigC> there is freaky, then there are freaks :)
10:31:19 <Betty> oh, that differs? good!
10:31:26 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I saw an article some where that they thought the hot spot moved northeast. They think the last outbreak was the lava flow between Pocatello and Idaho Falls.
10:31:58 <CraigC> Kevin L™ 🌵, the geologist did a presentation in Cody last year and went over that
10:32:08 <Betty> I thought I was not normal
10:32:13 <CraigC> geologist from U of U
10:32:14 <Kevin L™ 🌵> It was pretty interesting.
10:32:21 <STtAGIF> ..
10:32:29 <CraigC> I think I linked it here last year
10:32:33 <LindaGp> Betty, normal is relative
10:32:37 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Wish I could have been to that one Craig.
10:32:38 <CraigC> Janet Jones shared it
10:32:51 <Betty> so true Linda
10:32:54 <Dave from B™> The hot spot tracks all the way from Oregon
10:33:04 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Normal is Aurum during a potty break.
10:33:12 <LindaGp> Betty, ☺
10:33:16 <LindaGp> Kevin L™ 🌵, lol
10:33:17 <STtAGIF> Dozed off in the car and my alarm woke me up from a deep sleep so fast I was dizzy for a bit
10:33:19 <Dave from B™> Normal is overrated
10:33:34 <STtAGIF> Oh I was not driving, I was parked outside the office.
10:33:36 <Dave from B™> Ryan, you've missed a lot
10:33:45 <Betty> you need to sleep more, Ryan
10:33:56 <STtAGIF> Oh?
10:34:25 <Dave from B™> We talked politics without fighting
10:34:50 <Dave from B™> Jeff developed a delivery system to Grand (just kidding NPS)
10:34:52 <Eric> Coming into the range of an Aurum window too
10:35:05 <CraigC> STtAGIF, do you recall the name of the u of u geologist that is also a regular YNP visitor that did the presentation last year
10:35:20 <LindaGp> Eric, yeah bounding between the two
10:35:22 <Eric> You talking about fishynp?
10:35:35 <LindaGp> *bouncing
10:35:35 <STtAGIF> Jamie?
10:35:40 <CraigC> he brags about the only photo of SB from an airplane
10:35:54 <CraigC> Eric, no
10:35:59 <STtAGIF> There is more than one
10:36:02 <Eric> oh, then not Jamie
10:36:06 <STtAGIF> more than one photo.
10:36:14 <CraigC> STtAGIF, of eruption from airplane?
10:36:29 <STtAGIF> Yup. I've seen two
10:36:38 <Eric> I would love to see the SB eruption from an airplane collection :-D
10:36:39 <CraigC> do you rmemeber his name?
10:36:53 <STtAGIF> no
10:37:09 <Eric> fishynp could probably tell you.
10:37:43 <STtAGIF> Its not Jim Peaco is it?
10:37:58 <CraigC> Robert B SMith
10:38:56 <Dave from B™> That makes sense
10:39:09 <Dave from B™> He's also an author
10:40:00 <CraigC> here is the presentation from Dr Smith; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJKFCfCo4oA&t=5s
10:40:34 <Eric> NPS truck...Bill back at the UGB?
10:40:44 <CraigC> he goes on too much about his accolades, but it is really worth the time to watch
10:41:11 <Dave from B™> Thanks Craig.
10:41:23 <Eric> and there out
10:41:50 <Eric> Is that a bison near the parking lot?
10:42:00 <Eric> Was weird shaped
10:42:06 <CraigC> he spelled someone's name wrong, maybe it is Ryan's
10:42:26 <CraigC> and he also gave some wrong info about SB
10:42:28 <LindaGp> OF time
10:42:38 <Screaming Neon> For those interested, there was a Pileated Woodpecker on my suet feeder today! Does not happen often here
10:42:55 <Eric> Nice! Love Pileated Peckers
10:43:03 <Screaming Neon> I got pics and video
10:43:24 <STtAGIF> I cant find the aerial SB photo now
10:43:28 <Screaming Neon> will post to my Twitter
10:43:36 <STtAGIF> Theres two I have seen that were not from the air they were form the Overlook
10:43:39 <LindaGp> Screaming Neon, Not many places that happens, nice
10:43:40 <Eric> Very cool...We have had a lot of them in the recent burns of the columbia river gorge.
10:43:43 <STtAGIF> Craig did they use one of my photos or something?
10:43:45 <CraigC> STtAGIF, did Dr Smith use one of your photos?
10:43:55 <CraigC> LOL
10:43:58 <LindaGp> Come on daisy
10:43:59 <STtAGIF> I am at work and cant watch it
10:44:01 <STtAGIF> Screenshot?
10:44:21 <CraigC> if I get that far, seems like it is towards the end
10:44:22 <Screaming Neon> May have happened one other time. Usually I only see them high on our woodpecker tree
10:44:44 <Eric> Yes, you don't see peckers on feeders much
10:44:50 <Kevin L™ 🌵> You grow woodpeckers on a tree?
10:46:01 <Dave from B™> lazy woodpecker?
10:46:17 <STtAGIF> Found it: https://whatsup.lixlink.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/steamboat_geyser.jpg
10:46:45 <STtAGIF> No photo credit of course so I do not know who took it and when
10:46:45 <Eric> Awesome shot...thanks Ryan
10:46:55 <CraigC> STtAGIF, https://imgur.com/tEzlh2a
10:47:02 <Eric> Probably a park service employee on a flyover.
10:47:06 <Jake> this love this old geyser footage: https://archive.org/details/Pazzetti09
10:47:23 <STtAGIF> No I did not take that photo Craig
10:47:25 <Dave from B™> wow...look at runoff in Tantalus
10:47:49 <Eric> snow melt Dave
10:47:59 <Eric> It was over 60 degrees
10:48:12 <Dave from B™> Was this "your" eruption?
10:48:32 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I am the guy on the right 13 seconds in Jake.
10:48:47 <STtAGIF> No Dave that photo is from the 90s I think
10:50:00 <Dave from B™> haha Kevin
10:50:07 <STtAGIF> That is a lot of Tantalus runoff though
10:50:17 <Eric> Hmm, I wonder if the temp peak is missing on the last SB due to snow melting during the eruption and squashing the peaks?
10:51:10 <STtAGIF> When did our flyover in October we kept joking that the ride was gonna triple the cost we had planned because if SB erupted we'd spend all five hours there
10:51:11 <Eric> But the runoff rolls up to the afternoon and then tapers off, seems like clear snow melt curve.
10:51:17 <STtAGIF> Eric, theres a spike from the last eruption
10:51:40 <Eric> https://volcanoes.usgs.gov/vsc/captures/yellowstone/steamboat-1m.png
10:52:10 <STtAGIF> Oh from that? No I think the logger probe is just in a different place.
10:52:11 <Dave from B™> I was talking about the runoff in the aerial photo. Is that what you guys are talking about?
10:52:20 <Jake> I'd love to get a replica of the Beehive Indicator sign at 6:26 in that video. Can anyone decipher what it says?
10:52:35 <STtAGIF> Eric is talking about logger data, I was talking (at first) about the aireal photo
10:52:37 <Eric> I am not sure about that...it could be melting snow combined to cool the whole channel.
10:52:51 <Eric> Sorry, I am staring at logger data :-P
10:53:10 <STtAGIF> Eric, I really dont think that happened. We never saw that happen in the last eruptions and we know the logger moved.
10:53:21 <JarnoO> Daisy at ±75m intervals? Where do I sign up for that?
10:53:23 <Dave from B™> Eric, you need to focus on the siesmo to bend the lines
10:54:05 <LindaGp> Static looks real nice, lake is gorgeous
10:54:34 <JarnoO> also, Saw Mill instead of Sawmill
10:54:41 <LindaGp> OF
10:54:42 <Eric> Does that photo look like water phase to you guys?
10:55:09 <Eric> The way the vent is articulated, makes me wonder if that is a steam phase photo
10:55:15 <STtAGIF> The one from the air? Yes
10:55:33 <Eric> No south vent
10:55:55 <Eric> I don't see the chevrons of water that I would expect from a water column
10:55:55 <STtAGIF> I think the photo was shot down wind
10:56:38 <Cooper> Echinus is south east from Cistern right?
10:56:43 <Eric> Please take another one during a water phase so I can compare Ryan!
10:56:44 <STtAGIF> and I have several water phase photos from a distance where SV is completely hidden by steam
10:56:46 <Dave from B™> I was thinking maybe pic was after water restarted
10:56:53 <Eric> With a 4k video camera :-D
10:57:48 <STtAGIF> Worth noting that my photo of the 400ft spike has no SV visible.
10:58:26 <Eric> Well, great photo whatever phase it's in :-D
10:58:43 <STtAGIF> Nor do most of my Decker Island photos or my middle deck photos. South Vent seems to frequently get all clobbered by North Vent. Its just too diffused unlike NV which is basically a firehose.
10:58:45 <Dave from B™> Wouldn't it be fun to be a bird?
10:59:26 <Eric> Until you got hit by a prop plane!
10:59:26 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I don't know. I saw BH hit a goose once.
10:59:39 <Eric> :-D
10:59:54 <LindaGp> Daisy ie
10:59:55 <STtAGIF> I've been wondering about SB's internal structure. I think that North Vent has a nozzle like internal profile. I think it has the ability to accelerate the flow.
11:00:24 <LindaGp> caught very end
11:01:00 <STtAGIF> Like, beyond normal flow speeds. I think its possible the steam is actually accelerated to locally supersonic speeds.
11:01:03 <Eric> This is a cool shot...mud in the water: https://www.nps.gov/yell/learn/photosmultimedia/norris-tour-steamboat-geyser.htm
11:01:20 <STtAGIF> And thats where the noise comes from and it just carries water with it
11:01:57 <STtAGIF> https://www.nps.gov/features/yell/slidefile/thermalfeatures/geysers/norris/Page.htm
11:02:08 <STtAGIF> All of those photos are on there.
11:02:15 <Eric> Is that shot taken from porcelain Basin? or over near whirlygig?
11:02:32 <Dave from B™> NV force is amazing
11:02:42 <Cooper> I remember my first eruption, sadly there is too much gray! Gray Sky, Gray Water, Gray Steam.
11:03:12 <STtAGIF> https://www.nps.gov/features/yell/slidefile/thermalfeatures/geysers/norris/Images/13903.jpg
11:03:17 <STtAGIF> Elk PArk, Eric
11:03:51 <LindaGp> That grass looks a little green
11:04:18 <LindaGp> boy is this cam slow
11:05:32 <Eric> So slow it stopped?
11:06:02 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Linda broke the cam?
11:06:20 <JarnoO> the stream on my end is so choppy Firefox doesn't even bother giving me the latest frame
11:06:49 <LindaGp> Kevin L™ 🌵, yup
11:07:06 <LindaGp> 0.2 fps
11:10:13 <LindaGp> Wow NYC using mass graves ☹
11:10:36 <STtAGIF> For what?
11:10:48 <LindaGp> Unclaimed deceased
11:11:02 <JarnoO> sad
11:11:13 <STtAGIF> from COVID?
11:11:18 <LindaGp> Yes
11:11:31 <Eric> That is sad
11:11:38 <STtAGIF> Makes sense.
11:11:41 <LindaGp> not something one associates with this country
11:11:50 <JarnoO> I hope they aren't thrown on a pile, but put in there in a somewhat respectful matter
11:11:52 <Dave from B™> Wow...I'm assuming there will be a memorial in NY someday
11:12:10 <JarnoO> manner*
11:12:28 <STtAGIF> Its the American way, Linda.
11:12:50 <LindaGp> I think they had close to 8k deaths
11:13:18 <LindaGp> STtAGIF, why?
11:13:57 <Dave from B™> Are you sure you want to stand by that comment, Ryan?
11:14:25 <STtAGIF> I was referring to the "not something one associates with this country" statement
11:14:33 <ynpvisitor1> They have used the site before, and they are in coffins
11:14:42 <STtAGIF> We never think it will happen here until it happens here.
11:15:27 <LindaGp> ynpvisitor1, that's good
11:15:34 <ynpvisitor9> NY, the founder of the term "I do not want to get involved".
11:15:38 <STtAGIF> Even when it has happened here we seem to forget pretty quickly, at least we dont seem to learn from our mistakes.
11:16:40 <LindaGp> yeah I wonder what they did In 1918
11:16:43 <Dave from B™> Spanish flu did occur over 100 years ago. I actually has a realtiive die in Billings area from it
11:17:03 <STtAGIF> Reading back, let me be clear: Mass graves and such are not what I was referring to
11:17:04 <Dave from B™> had*
11:17:25 <LindaGp> STtAGIF, ☺
11:17:26 <Dave from B™> Sorry, ryan. I misinterpreted your response
11:17:42 <STtAGIF> Spanish Flu, general warfare, etc. We have not had true warfare on home soil for... 140+ years?
11:17:52 <ynpvisitor1> That so many deaths this time could have been prevented, it’s a sad time to be an American
11:18:12 <LindaGp> ynpvisitor1, I agree
11:18:12 <Dave from B™> yep...We Americans lead a pretty "sheltered" life
11:18:17 <STtAGIF> I figured thats what happened. I meant the general feeling of "strange to see it happen here"
11:18:40 <ynpvisitor9> How? Many of the deaths are just normal, and they are claiming the virus for numbers only.
11:18:47 <Dave from B™> 1, Not as many lives would have been saved as you think
11:18:50 <STtAGIF> We've been pretty sheltered and privileged for a long time and have not suffered much of what other countries go through relatively routinely.
11:19:39 <STtAGIF> About the biggest things we routinely weather through are hurricanes, tornadoes, and mass shootings.
11:19:51 <Kevin L™ 🌵> WWII Ryan. Pearl Harbor and Japan had a stronghold in Alaska that took some doing to get them out.
11:20:55 <STtAGIF> Even then, Kevin... its not like what happened to Britain and Germany and Japan. Hawaii and Alaska are still "over there". The last time we had real warfare as the average American private citizen would experience was the Civil War.
11:20:58 <ynpvisitor9> I read an article and the city or county in NY that takes care of people that cannot pay for a funeral will not take contagious bodies. That is why they are stacking them up instead of doing it the proper way.
11:21:28 <Kevin L™ 🌵> No but also don't forget 911
11:23:08 <LindaGp> We need a wolf
11:23:28 <STtAGIF> That is a start. But still, relatively speaking its small compared to what other countries can go through. I am not dismissing it - just saying that all told over the last century we've avoided much of the hardships other places have suffered: Europe has been destroyed by two World Wars, Eastern Europe was the USSR for a half century more, Indonesia routinely suffers massive casualties from tsun
11:23:51 <STtAGIF> amis and volcanoes.
11:24:01 <Kevin L™ 🌵> It was brutal in Germany. When I was there in 75-77 you could still see a lot of damage. I have a picture of me standing in a bomb crater. They still find unexploded bombs
11:24:45 <ynpvisitor9> They are still shooting each other in Chicago. Just not news worthy.
11:24:47 <STtAGIF> Its not quite the same attitude in older americans who lived through WWII or maybe Vietnam, but once you get out of the Baby Boomer generation there is a lot of "that doesnt happen here" attitude either actively or passively.
11:25:46 <ynpvisitor9> Sent the step son to Iraq twice. People have short memories.
11:25:57 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Very true.
11:26:22 <STtAGIF> Even in our own countries its the same deal. Rural America is spared much of the violence of Urban America and when that violence comes to rural America everyone there is shocked because "it doesnt happen here"
11:26:40 <STtAGIF> Thank him for his service from us, 9.
11:26:47 <LindaGp> Only took five minutes to get here yikes
11:27:18 <Eric> webpage status still ssays cam is down
11:27:25 <STtAGIF> I am not saying American's have not suffered. I am just saying that our threshold for suffering is far lower than what some other cultures' are. Because by and large we have been sheltered here domestically.
11:27:33 <ynpvisitor9> Need to tie the knot tighter int e internet can string?
11:27:38 <LindaGp> 0.2 fps
11:28:16 <LindaGp> Dome ie
11:28:39 <ynpvisitor9> Could it be that so far we have shown we will not put up with the kind of crap others are willing to live with?
11:29:17 <STtAGIF> If you dont live in NYC, or Oklahoma City, or Columbine then you don't live with a daily reminder that it can and does happen here.
11:30:11 <STtAGIF> 9, I think that is part of it. We've retained a very powerful military since WWII which has largely left us sheltered, protected, and fighting our wars overseas since 1946.
11:30:18 <ynpvisitor9> Not to down play, but in comparison of what other people deal with, that is insignificant.
11:30:38 <STtAGIF> That is exactly my point.
11:31:00 <Eric> We are now in my SB window!
11:31:08 <Eric> GO STEAMBOAT!
11:31:22 <STtAGIF> MY grandparents keep telling me: "Yeah this sucks, but its just like polio when I was a child."
11:31:36 <ynpvisitor9> The window is closed to protect from the virus.
11:32:12 <STtAGIF> Because they experienced it and know it can happen here. My generation, and the one before me have not had that direct experience with domestic mass emergencies. This is extremely traumatic for them where as for other generations and cultures its just another round of reality.
11:32:35 <LindaGp> I think we think we are too advanced for it to happen to ism but it is our advancement that has caused it to spread.
11:32:55 <LindaGp> *happen to us
11:32:57 <ynpvisitor9> People are also different. I do not look for others to solve my problems.
11:33:08 <Eric> It's my daughters birthday....I ordered her a SB!
11:33:23 <Eric> and I have Prime.
11:33:39 <ynpvisitor9> We used to order mount hood sundays.
11:33:52 <LindaGp> Happy birthday Eric's daughter!
11:33:57 <ynpvisitor9> They are not shipping today.
11:34:07 <Eric> Ohh, Mt. Hood Sunday sounds good
11:34:10 <Betty> happy birthday to Elizabeth´18th! congrats
11:34:34 <Eric> Yes, she is old enough to vote now...sucky way to celebrate though, stuck in the house with your parents :-(
11:34:41 <ynpvisitor9> Portland zoo was also good
11:34:54 <Eric> Did you go to farrells?
11:35:12 <Cooper> Happy Birthday to your daughter Eric.
11:35:17 <ynpvisitor9> Didn't everyone back then?
11:35:18 <Betty> Portland Zoo was fun!
11:35:24 <JarnoO> congrats, Eric
11:35:25 <Eric> Thanks everyone...I will pass that along
11:36:00 <Eric> I think so...I was pretty young when they finally closed, my brothers where about the sweet spot for farrells.
11:36:10 <LindaGp> Bee is definitelynwaiting for joe
11:36:17 <ynpvisitor9> You could go by a few gallons of ice cream and goo and some plastic animals and make one.
11:36:32 <Eric> true 9 :-D
11:36:52 <Eric> get a gurney and some kazoos and run around the house with a fire bell!
11:37:17 <ynpvisitor9> That is it
11:37:18 <Eric> Only people who grew up in Portland area will get that.
11:37:55 <Eric> The gibson girl and pig trough are a few I remember.
11:38:17 <ynpvisitor9> Never did hear why they closed up. The owner must have retired.
11:38:41 <ynpvisitor9> One of those businesses that takes a special person to run
11:40:58 <Eric> ahh, marriot purchased them in 1972
11:42:57 <Eric> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farrell%27s_Ice_Cream_Parlour
11:43:27 <Eric> Last one closed last year in June...no more Farrell's Ice Cream parlors.
11:47:30 <Dave from B™> It is busy today in the market
11:48:11 <Eric> That's good dave!
11:48:26 <Betty> good to hear that
11:48:28 <Eric> I hope people are keeping their distance and wearing masks.
11:48:48 <Dave from B™> 8% of my business is up 30%....entire business off 60%
11:49:31 <Dave from B™> Yes. Many are plus we have handsanitizer, gloves, wipes and we are doing delivery to car if people want it
11:50:54 <LindaGp> Boy that seismo is flat
11:51:11 <Dave from B™> We rarely have more than 7 people in the market at a time
11:51:28 <Eric> I like costcos plexiglass shields for their cashiers. It's close proximity and keeps some protection between employees and customer when at close range.
11:51:46 <LindaGp> I'll be BA k in a minute, garbage can blowing around neighborhood
11:51:56 <LindaGp> *back
11:52:19 <Dave from B™> I hope theose things come down when this is over
11:52:27 <ynpvisitor9> I had to go get a car part. They have cases of product stacked at the counter so you have to stay apart.
11:53:35 <ynpvisitor9> I would be surprised. To practical. Now if people stayed home when they were sick?
11:55:22 <LindaGp> I'm back

13:22:29 <LindaGp> Lazy bison today

13:34:20 <LindaGp> Kevin L™ 🌵, oh wow
13:34:32 <CraigC> is Silver Spring still steaming strong?
13:34:46 <Kevin L™ 🌵> All I needed was 5m at the hearing aid center.
13:34:46 <Betty> Carig?
13:34:55 <GO STEAMBOAT> next week was supposed to be the Ring Cycle in Chicago, plenty of oversized characters there including two Giants, one of which turns into a dragon
13:35:07 <CraigC> Betty, my mom never taught me how to spell my own name
13:35:10 <LindaGp> CraigC, no
13:35:10 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Linda killed the cam Craig.
13:35:47 <LindaGp> It's moving real sllloooww
13:35:48 <Dave from B™> Craig, you said wb to yourself? Don't try to sneak that stuff by us!!
13:35:48 <CraigC> I was hoping Graham could give me his opinion on it
13:36:19 <CraigC> Dave from B™, I like attention from where ever I can get it
13:36:47 <LindaGp> Almost grand time

13:38:23 <CraigC> KevinS, I don't sent SB texts, only radio calls at 3 in the morning
13:38:44 <KevinS> I would take one of those!!!
13:38:59 <Joe> What time of day was the Crucifixion???
13:39:01 <CraigC> be damned if you are in Norris campground and left your radio on
13:39:18 <Dave from B™> late afternoon, I believe Joe
13:39:19 <LindaGp> Joe, noon
13:39:34 <CraigC> how does anyone know?
13:39:44 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I don't think they even know the day Joe. It changes every year.
13:40:03 <Joe> ah! thanks
13:40:20 <LindaGp> In my town things closed after noon
13:40:23 <KevinS> Only known by moon cycle. NT has the hour.
13:40:23 <ynpvisitor50> Still looking for the fat lady, an interlude. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zy5f87-kI8c
13:40:42 <CraigC> stock market has been closed all day
13:41:13 <Betty> I heard an interview of a psychotherapist. He said in these times of social distancing they have a lot of calls by people who want their advice because they started talking to walls and plants and animals. They applied not to call the psychotherapists, because that is pretty normal behaviour. But they sure need to call if they get an answer!
13:41:16 <GO STEAMBOAT> you didnt lose any money today Craig
13:41:26 <CraigC> whew
13:42:25 <CraigC> stocks have been going up a lot the last week..... I think it is based on false expectations
13:42:55 <CraigC> I need to decide whether to cash out at some point
13:42:59 <ynpvisitor50> I think it is because there are lots of deals.
13:43:12 <CraigC> amazon is almost fully retraced
13:43:19 <Betty> I had to laugh about his answer
13:43:27 <Dave from B™> CraigC, I do feel we haven't seen the bottom yet
13:43:32 <LindaGp> Noon and darkness lasted till 3pm that's what internet says
13:43:59 <LindaGp> that's why things closed at noon.
13:44:13 <CraigC> Dave from B™, not sure, but I think the economy hasn't seen its worst yet
13:44:44 <ynpvisitor50> Then there is this classic. https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2vbbh3
13:45:02 <LindaGp> Grand

13:45:44 <CraigC> "people were shocked that I acted so quickly" OMG.... I wish my g/f would shut the news off
13:45:49 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Didn't the Earth go dark for 3 days?
13:46:01 <LindaGp> Joe, I didn't remember I had to look it up. My mother would be ashamed ☺
13:46:05 <Dave from B™> hahahahaha CraigC
13:46:29 <Betty> who acted quickly?
13:46:50 <CraigC> Betty, 3 guesses, and they all have to have orange hair

13:47:13 <LindaGp> Kevin L™ 🌵, i think 3 hours
13:47:39 <LindaGp> But who knows ☺
13:47:51 <KevinS> Kevin L™ 🌵, Earth went dark for 3 days in Egypt as a plague before the exodus. Only for hours on Good Friday.
13:47:59 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Who had a clock back then?
13:48:11 <Joe> I had that stuff beat into me by the nuns in the school I went to but some did not stick :)
13:48:26 <CraigC> Brutus Timexus
13:48:44 <ynpvisitor50> Flinstone's had a clock. It even worked in the house. I know because I saw it on tv.
13:48:54 <LindaGp> No one knows really just traditions
13:48:56 <KevinS> Time of death was the 9th our of daylight. That is how people get 3pm
13:49:07 <Joe> I probably deserved most of the beatings I got :)
13:49:19 <CraigC> Joe, of course you did, and more
13:49:37 <ynpvisitor50> They put metal edges on rulers for kids like you.
13:49:40 <LindaGp> Joe, they beat up on my husband too 🙄
13:50:22 <ynpvisitor50> Insert John Belushi Blues Brothers film clip here.
13:50:35 <Joe> It got to be fun to see how much you could take :)
13:50:42 <LindaGp> Sunday school, youth fellowship and choir every sunday!
13:50:57 <LindaGp> I was protestant
13:51:27 <ynpvisitor50> If you were baptist, you would have done Wednesdays to.
13:52:12 <LindaGp> Too many things here, when did I call Grand?
13:52:25 <JarnoO> 1345:02
13:52:33 <ynpvisitor50> joe 1345
13:52:34 <LindaGp> Never mind someone entered
13:52:54 <JarnoO> start was likely 1344 then, rather than 1345
13:53:04 <LindaGp> ynpvisitor50, it was constant, during wek too.
13:53:30 <LindaGp> *constant
13:54:06 <LindaGp> Thia works.out OF due
13:54:27 <LindaGp> 2nd
13:54:33 <LindaGp> .
13:54:49 <CraigC> nice delay
13:54:58 <JarnoO> thanks for the notice, Linda. The choppiness is so bad even I am delayed
13:55:16 <ynpvisitor68> waiting, waiting, will we even see it?
13:55:19 <LindaGp> .Jarno, I was a long pause
13:55:29 <LindaGp> *it
13:55:31 <ynpvisitor68> kind of got it
13:55:58 <JarnoO> huh... 1344 start, 1354 2nd? That's very late into the eruption
13:56:21 <ynpvisitor68> that happens every spring
13:56:36 <JarnoO> I like it
13:56:41 <JarnoO> 2*
13:56:48 <ynpvisitor68> so never give up
13:56:58 <LindaGp> Pause
13:57:03 <Joe> The cam is stuttering so bad hard to call a second
13:57:05 <ynpvisitor68> ha ha
13:57:17 <ynpvisitor68> I think we can DEFINITELY call the 2nd
13:57:22 <ynpvisitor68> long pause then a big burst
13:57:32 <ynpvisitor909> yup
13:57:38 <LindaGp> Joe, I'll let you decide
13:58:08 <ynpvisitor68> well, it did have a 2nd
13:58:18 <Joe> But was the pause no frames from cam? I did not get any at that time
13:58:21 <LindaGp> I really think it was second
13:58:41 <CraigC> there was no spikes, then there was
13:58:44 <ynpvisitor68> me too
13:58:57 <Joe> I'll put it down
13:59:11 <KevinS> That was a 2nd unless we missed a second and saw a third??
13:59:12 <GO STEAMBOAT> i hav no opinio, my stream is too mpy to know
13:59:24 <CraigC> it took 4 or 5 seconds of me seeing nothing above the trees, then there it was
13:59:26 <GO STEAMBOAT> or jumpy
13:59:55 <Joe> I made it a 2b
14:00:10 <LindaGp> Can't tell on video?

14:01:21 <LindaGp> Controls released
14:04:21 <ynpvisitor50> Wow, Wells Fargo hit its sba bailout loan cap. Got to wonder how many of those loans we real?
14:05:24 <Joe> Wells Fargo is well practiced at cheating

14:28:44 <Dave from B™> Hi Lori
14:29:00 <Joe> https://www.geyserhill.com/audio/halo1
14:29:05 <Dave from B™> Come to stare at a straightline for awhile?
14:29:12 <Jake> watching that Bob Smith video posted earlier. he mentions Beehive Geyser "just down the road from Old Faithful" it erupts nearly continuously
14:29:34 <Kevin L™ 🌵> კარგი შუადღე ლორის
14:29:37 <Lori S> Dave from B™, yeah, pretty much
14:30:07 <Lori S> How long has the cam been down?
14:30:12 <CraigC> Jake, that was one of his errors
14:31:07 <Dave from B™> must have confused BH for one of the Dwarves
14:31:18 <CraigC> or Mouth
14:31:30 <CraigC> I can see why
14:31:30 <Dave from B™> Which time?
14:31:34 <Joe> Is anyone's video messed up or is it me ??
14:31:45 <Dave from B™> video?
14:32:10 <Joe> OK!
14:32:16 <CraigC> other than a couple of mistakes, I liked the presentation
14:32:32 <Lori S> Kevin L™ 🌵, शुभ दोपहर केविन
14:32:42 <Betty> doggies on static
14:32:50 <CraigC> and other than him going on too much about his own achievements
14:32:54 <JarnoO> Wouldn't it be awesome to have a 150ft perpetual spouter on the Hill?
14:33:23 <CraigC> JarnoO, depends on the wind
14:33:30 <JarnoO> valid point
14:33:35 <CraigC> ;)
14:33:37 <Lori S> CraigC, lol
14:33:40 <JarnoO> makes for foggy starts of the day, too
14:36:09 <Cooper> OK, what did I miss?
14:36:21 <Cooper> what happened to the notice :p
14:36:21 <JarnoO> well... where shall we start
14:36:29 <Lori S> Cooper, The chat is talking to Jarno
14:36:50 <Cooper> Hi Lori
14:37:02 <JarnoO> you missed a 12m 2b Grand, with the 2nd 9¾m into the eruption
14:37:12 <Lori S> Hullo Cooper
14:37:21 <Cooper> any action from the Bee.
14:37:36 <JarnoO> some light steaming, but otherwise as dead as it could be
14:37:36 <GO STEAMBOAT> .
14:37:54 <CraigC> Bee has been nearly continuous, but the webcam is dead
14:38:00 <Cooper> have you checked its temperature, maybe it has COVID and is beeing lazy.
14:40:52 <Lori S> I dreamed that a mylar balloon animal came walking out of my closet and I punctured it then stabbed it till it was in pieces
14:42:00 <Joe> In the 70's I saw stuff like that too :)
14:42:12 <Lori S> Then later I dreamed someone had hit my dog so I beat up the dude that hit him
14:42:25 <Lori S> Joe, lol
14:42:27 <Joe> OR even the 60's
14:42:51 <CraigC> Lori S, last week I dreamed I was in a video game similar to Pacman and I was trying to keep the Covid character away from people
14:43:21 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Sounds like TRON. End of line....
14:43:34 <Joe> CraigC the Caped crusader!!
14:43:54 <CraigC> Joe, except my weapon was a joystick LOL
14:44:03 <Joe> :)
14:44:37 <Lori S> ummm...yeah, nevermind :p
14:45:04 <LindaG> Lori S, hello lori hello
14:45:48 <Lori S> hello linda hello

14:47:30 <LindaG> 8d15hrs5min
14:48:16 <Lori S> LindaG,
14:52:06 <KevinS> My doctor said today he thinks that he and many patients had Covid back in November. He said lots of people including him had negative flu tests in Nov, Dec, Jan and Feb before Covid testing. What doo we believe?
14:52:42 <CraigC> KevinS, I keep seeing posts about that possibility, I don't buy into it
14:52:45 <LindaG> KevinS, they thinkmit was in California in the fall
14:52:59 <GO STEAMBOAT> unless he was in Wuhan I dont thik its rrue
14:53:08 <CraigC> the contagiousness wasn't similar
14:53:29 <KevinS> I should say my general PCP doc said that. Not my oconlogist.
14:54:28 <GO STEAMBOAT> there are many respratory infections
14:54:37 <CraigC> I had two illnesses over the winter, but no one else in our household of 4 got it
14:55:26 <Lori S> Folks in west are saying that about ere too. several saying they were really sick over winter. not flu or anything else.
14:56:04 <GO STEAMBOAT> i believe they were sick, just not from Covid 19
14:56:24 <Lori S> GO STEAMBOAT, I agree
14:56:33 <GO STEAMBOAT> its the weekend, time to go home.
14:56:40 <GO STEAMBOAT> there, i am home, nice commute
14:56:47 <CraigC> LOL
14:56:56 <Betty> haha
14:57:03 <Lori S> I was really sick in August, a friend was in hospital for pneumonia last summer. I mean, how far back should we go.
14:58:32 <KevinS> This one time in 89 I was so sick.... wait, bad college food. nevermind
14:58:45 <Lori S> KevinS, lol
14:59:12 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Now you know what happened to you...
14:59:35 <KevinS> So true.
15:00:33 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Remember the Swine flu in the 70's that the vaccine killed more than the flu?
15:00:42 <GO STEAMBOAT> just dnt get Covid 20
15:00:44 <KevinS> I got so sick on my own cooking. Still can't eat pasta based dishes with basil.
15:00:54 <Kevin L™ 🌵> :)
15:02:37 <GO STEAMBOAT> funny the president is talking about opening the country back up ... its the Governors that are in charge of the country
15:02:54 <KevinS> GO STEAMBOAT, Back up plan
15:03:15 <GO STEAMBOAT> needto hearfrom the governors
15:03:59 <CraigC> Cuomo fro president
15:04:16 <Dave from B™> A reemergence of states rights
15:04:39 <CraigC> his brother Chris was messing with him yesterday in an interview about running for President
15:05:04 <Dave from B™> Is he over 65?
15:05:11 <Joe> In the 70's the Flatirons above boulder Colorado always glowed in ever changing iridescent colors
15:05:35 <CraigC> "born December 6, 1957"
15:05:43 <LindaG> A NY poll says DEMS want to trade Cuomo for biden
15:06:05 <GO STEAMBOAT> haha i bet, he is an impressive govenor
15:06:43 <CraigC> Cuomo told his brother he is keeping his word to his state to not leave his position during his term
15:07:08 <GO STEAMBOAT> ts just fun speculation .. he wont run or be VP
15:07:24 <CraigC> I'd vote for him
15:07:27 <GO STEAMBOAT> Biden said he would have a woman VP ... got to stick to that
15:07:36 <LindaG> Who would want to be president now?
15:07:44 <CraigC> hope he picks Klobachar
15:07:50 <GO STEAMBOAT> daisy
15:07:56 <Joe> Daisy
15:08:15 <GO STEAMBOAT> lots would like it .. make hstory ..... hopefully in a good way
15:08:43 <GO STEAMBOAT> VA is ahead of the curve on shtdown, no more cschool and stay at home to June 10
15:09:50 <GO STEAMBOAT> hopefully soemone with leadership sills will be president soon .......
15:10:09 <GO STEAMBOAT> also need a generational shipft, these pld guys are not good for the country
15:10:40 <GO STEAMBOAT> typing skills are optional
15:11:33 <Dave from B™> Graham, did you read log from earlier today?
15:12:09 <GO STEAMBOAT> fortunately I am not allowed to run for president, so you are all spared that disaster
15:12:14 <GO STEAMBOAT> no ... what did I miss?
15:13:02 <Kevin L™ 🌵> The PA Gov is nuts. He included model railroad shops in his list of non essential. Everyone know a model railroad shop is essential!
15:13:12 <Dave from B™> Me starting a discussion of having a Maximum age limit for the President
15:13:28 <Dave from B™> haha Kevin
15:13:42 <Dave from B™> Not talking about this election but the topic overall
15:14:53 <GO STEAMBOAT> why have a minimum age and no max?
15:15:21 <GO STEAMBOAT> i hope the parties find a way to lower age by 20 or 30 years
15:15:28 <GO STEAMBOAT> dont want 80yo presidents
15:15:59 <Dave from B™> 60 or 65 for max
15:16:15 <Joe> I think three years old would be a good place to start
15:16:47 <GO STEAMBOAT> we are trying that ... and its not working out well
15:16:59 <Joe> :)
15:17:37 <Dave from B™> hahaha Joe
15:17:53 <Lori S> lol
15:17:53 <GO STEAMBOAT> business have max dates for cEOs, so makes sense, and for all elected officials too.
15:17:58 <Jake> for work, we have close relationships with hospital. I saw their data yesterday that UT is not on track to match the widely-reported IHME covid models that are projecting a peak in days to weeks. It is early yet, but UT is matching a model for a peak in July with social distancing accounting for a 30% reduction in infectivity
15:18:16 <GO STEAMBOAT> probably should be true for supreme court as well, but RBG keeps going .....
15:18:23 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I know a lot of older people that would be good. I also know a younger people who wouldn't know how to run a microwave.
15:18:40 <Jake> oh, and the people calculating and showing this data were less than 80 years old
15:19:14 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I see that you have to answer an online questionnaire to enter Utah now.
15:19:54 <Joe> do you have to be truthful??
15:20:27 <Joe> Craig just does not want me there
15:20:29 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Nobody would be dishonest online would they Joe?
15:20:38 <Joe> :)
15:20:48 <GO STEAMBOAT> UT doesnt have many restrictions, right? You will be praying your way out f it
15:22:36 <Kevin L™ 🌵> There are restrictions Graham. Not sure how severe they are. Nevada has a bunch. Lot of travelers were here from the world over.
15:23:16 <GO STEAMBOAT> does UT have stay at home now?
15:23:27 <GO STEAMBOAT> I know they didnt a week ago
15:23:50 <GO STEAMBOAT> Vegas is just playing the odds and over/under betting
15:24:20 <Jake> UT has stay-at-home-ish by county
15:24:25 <GO STEAMBOAT> takeout tonight ... indian or thai?
15:24:34 <Jake> and we are fasting our way out of it, not just praying
15:24:42 <GO STEAMBOAT> are liquor stores essential in UT?
15:24:56 <Joe> indian
15:24:58 <Jake> so far
15:24:58 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I am not sure but they have had several restrictions at least a month ago. They shut down the schools in Cedar City about a month ago.
15:25:06 <Eric> Nice, haven't missed BH or SB
15:25:09 <GO STEAMBOAT> thanks Joe, indian it is
15:25:24 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Depends on your religion Graham. :)
15:25:51 <Lori S> hey ric

15:27:07 <Dave from B™> oops 29-59 minutes
15:27:19 <Eric> It's what Elizabeth wanted for her birthday dinner :-D
15:27:23 <Dave from B™> Are those types of bread?:)
15:27:37 <Kevin L™ 🌵> In Costco today there was a guy that had probably over $1000 in liquor. I was wondering if he needed it for hand sanitizer.
15:27:45 <GO STEAMBOAT> happy birthday!
15:27:49 <Jake> he's probably from UT
15:27:53 <Eric> One is...the rest are main courses.
15:28:23 <Dave from B™> Taylor has made Tika Masala for us
15:28:33 <GO STEAMBOAT> i dont usually need flavored Naan or Roti, the food has rhe spices for me ... but good for you
15:28:36 <Eric> First time we have had restaurant food in a month!
15:28:57 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I really miss the prime rib and $2 breakfasts.
15:29:00 <GO STEAMBOAT> nw i have to get the menu up...
15:29:05 <Eric> We will have plain Naan too...I just like Garlic naan by itself :-D
15:29:34 <Eric> Nice Dave...Tika Masala is my daughters favorite

15:30:23 <Eric> Pump major
15:30:37 <Eric> North Vancouver seems to be the hot spot now days too
15:31:09 <Kevin L™ 🌵> But the border is closed now.
15:31:27 <GO STEAMBOAT> i bet it would be cold with delivery
15:32:09 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Here is a great shot of Grotto Fountain: https://www.nps.gov/features/yell/slidefile/thermalfeatures/geysers/upper/Images/17490.jpg
15:32:22 <GO STEAMBOAT> i need to get back to BC, its been too long
15:33:09 <Lori S> Kevin L™ 🌵, how tall is that?
15:33:38 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I would guess about 50 to 70 feet.
15:34:12 <Kevin L™ 🌵> It is kind of like a baby grand
15:34:19 <GO STEAMBOAT> i dont do heights unless they are over 400'
15:34:29 <Lori S> I ask as that's about how tall I recall Indigo Spring erupting in the early 90's that one time
15:34:55 <Lori S> Of course, I was on the raod so further away
15:35:31 <Eric> That is a good GF shot
15:37:10 <GO STEAMBOAT> Chicken Vepudu it is wiat Naan
15:37:46 <Dave from B™> Yes...Inventory is done
15:38:00 <Joe> I used to climb a 500' tower to do maintenance we had lots of instruments at the 400[ level, every time someone mentions SB at 400 ft' that view comes to mind, amazing
15:38:25 <Dave from B™> Time to head out. SB window is 1355-1425. Have a great evening everyone!
15:38:38 <Lori S> Night Dave
15:38:39 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Take care Dave
15:38:48 <Betty> enjoy yours, Dave
15:39:01 <Joe> Bye Dave
15:39:04 <Lori S> Joe, I think about standing at the brink of the Lower Falls
15:39:22 <Lori S> I mean, taller than THST wow
15:39:30 <Lori S> *THAT
15:39:53 <Joe> Yep exciting amazing
15:40:17 <GO STEAMBOAT> will SB survive Covid 19?
15:42:12 <GO STEAMBOAT> yeah car insurance is giving 15% back for 2 months because peope arent driving much
15:44:25 <Joe> lost the cam
15:44:46 <LindaG> GO STEAMBOAT, mine is giving 20 percent
15:46:30 <Eric> Mine hasn't said anything about giving me something back :-( I have driven twice in the last month.
15:47:06 <GO STEAMBOAT> i like yours Linda ... :)
15:47:24 <LindaG> Eric, 🙁 I just got email yesterday
15:47:39 <LindaG> GO STEAMBOAT, 😊
15:48:48 <CraigC> I wonder if there is regulation on how much profit there can be above actuarials
15:49:17 <GO STEAMBOAT> they are regulated by the states. i think NJ has high rates tho
15:49:46 <LindaG> I probably pay more
15:49:57 <ynpvisitor28> Wyoming is my favourite state to visit. I live in Alberta, Canada.
15:50:34 <GO STEAMBOAT> most of us probably agree with yur favorite 28
15:50:44 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I was supposed to go to Alberta this year. Oh well.
15:51:20 <ynpvisitor28> We have the beautiful Canadian Rockies!
15:51:29 <GO STEAMBOAT> thats a long way for you Kevin?
15:51:51 <Joe> and we appreciate all of you visitors to Wyoming
15:52:01 <ynpvisitor28> Alberta economy is crashing!
15:52:05 <GO STEAMBOAT> i did the Banff/Jasper trip a few years ago from Calgary
15:52:20 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Not too bad. I was going to go to Canmore and then check out the railroad to the Spiral Tunnels.
15:52:23 <ynpvisitor28> I miss NHL hockey
15:52:35 <GO STEAMBOAT> no tourists coming right now, but its still too cold in AB
15:52:36 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I do too 28.
15:53:04 <GO STEAMBOAT> right, you have family there Kevin?
15:53:19 <GO STEAMBOAT> i was there right after the big floods
15:53:20 <ynpvisitor28> Alberta is warming up now in early spring. Its nice outside here.
15:53:29 <Kevin L™ 🌵> No, but I have a good friend that lives in Canmore.
15:53:39 <GO STEAMBOAT> ok
15:53:50 <ynpvisitor28> I live in west Edmonton.
15:53:55 <GO STEAMBOAT> where are you 28?
15:54:08 <GO STEAMBOAT> ok. Norm and Deb are in Edmonton too
15:54:12 <Kevin L™ 🌵> You are cold now!
15:54:32 <ynpvisitor28> Edmonton is not cold now.
15:54:49 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I also have a friend here that is from Edmonton. I miss the CFL too.
15:55:20 <Kevin L™ 🌵> If it is under 70° F it is cold!
15:56:04 <ynpvisitor28> What? No CFL? Oh no!
15:56:22 <ynpvisitor28> Deadmonton
15:56:45 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Hard to get it in the US but I love to watch it when they show it.
15:57:04 <ynpvisitor28> No hockey, no footbal, no baseball....
15:57:16 <Kevin L™ 🌵> No racing.
15:57:40 <ynpvisitor28> No fun. But we can throw darts!
15:57:53 <GO STEAMBOAT> watch re-runs?
15:57:53 <Kevin L™ 🌵> And stones!
15:58:05 <GO STEAMBOAT> time to pickup food .. bbs
15:58:07 <ynpvisitor28> Snowballs!
15:58:50 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I went to the curling championships here when they had them. It was a lot of fun.
15:58:53 <ynpvisitor28> I want a pizza...buy guys..nice talking with ya`ll
15:59:05 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Have a good one 28
16:00:11 <KevinS> Craig, SB looks like an all nighter. You got your radio to call out for those in the campground?
16:00:36 <CraigC> KevinS, ha, I seriously just took my radios out and stored in my trailer
16:01:20 <Kevin L™ 🌵> What we need is to have the gazers get Ham licenses and then we would be able to communicate.
16:01:57 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Norris to UGB would be no problem.
16:02:11 <Betty> LC ie
16:03:33 <CraigC> Kevin L™ 🌵, how strong of radios would you need for that far?
16:04:09 <Kevin L™ 🌵> This would work: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B007H4VT7A/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_10?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
16:04:31 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I have seen them for as low as $22.
16:04:53 <CraigC> Kevin L™ 🌵, I have 2 of those, I can hear lower basin to upper basin is all
16:04:56 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Dome on the range....
16:05:35 <Kevin L™ 🌵> If you use the ham channels you can get farther.
16:05:43 <CraigC> ahhh, ok
16:06:05 <CraigC> do they use repeaters?
16:07:17 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I think you can access them if they are around. My friend uses that to get me at Rainbow Canyon and it is over 20 miles.
16:08:08 <CraigC> Kevin L™ 🌵, you have your license?
16:08:48 <Jake> can HAM go 20 miles in the park if this cam signal can't go 200 yards line-of-sight properly?
16:09:03 <Kevin L™ 🌵> No, but the guy with me does.
16:09:24 <Kevin L™ 🌵> :)
16:09:48 <CraigC> wonder how hard the test is
16:10:17 <CraigC> and why gazers havent already done it
16:10:21 <Kevin L™ 🌵> They say it isn't bad. Just a matter of the time to get to it.
16:10:38 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I think they have sample tests online
16:11:13 <Kat> I think that Jim Halfpenny in Gardiner teaches and tests for a license.
16:11:17 <Jake> aren't there regulations about not being mobile or operating in a national park with ham radios?
16:11:21 <CraigC> I imagine it isn't as hard as the life and health insurance test I had to take
16:11:50 <Joe> The test is super easy many sites online to study, the hard part is finding a group in your area that is giving the test
16:11:55 <Jake> the Baofeng usage already is violating laws so what's one more step?
16:12:13 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I am surprised that GOSA doesn't get an FM channel in the park. They could do it as a non profit and allow permits for people to use radios on it. Would cut the tourists looking for OF parking chatter.
16:13:06 <CraigC> "I was in Yellowstone two years ago with my Kenwood D700 mobile rig. I didn't have much luck hitting any repeaters while in the park, unless you happen to be near one on the edges of the park. The only one I remember using is the machine in West Yellowstone, but only from the Madison area. With all the hills and valleys, you probably won't get out very far while driving around, especially with
16:13:14 <ynpvisitor94> How tall was the last old faithful?
16:13:17 <Jake> like FM radio, "turn your stereo to 100.1 to get the latest"?
16:13:40 <CraigC> googling, it doesnt sound like there are repeaters inside the park
16:13:53 <GO STEAMBOAT> mmmm good
16:14:40 <CraigC> I think baofeng makes an 8 watt, so people with lcenses could probably communicate UGB to Lower basin
16:16:31 <Joe> cam is failing again
16:17:20 <Kat> Found this info https://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Yellowstone_National_Park
16:17:22 <Jake> they do make an adjustable watt one that goes "all the way to...[8]" I seem to recall LGB to UGB sort of working sometimes depending on where exactly people were
16:17:56 <Jake> but that it's far from consistent, it's those damn hills and trees!
16:18:02 <ynpvisitor94> I’ve heard calls from ugb at fountain
16:18:14 <CraigC> ynpvisitor94, same
16:18:35 <JarnoO> Lion
16:18:44 <CraigC> from someone I know has an 8 watt
16:19:40 <CraigC> these 5 watt ones were only $20, so I couldnt pass them up
16:22:00 <ynpvisitor94> Hearing great fountain overflow start from ugb would be a game changer
16:22:20 <CraigC> ynpvisitor94,
16:22:46 <KevinS> All I can get is "sometimes" calls from UGB while on top platform at Fountain. And I paid $100 for two radios
16:23:08 <Eric> lion
16:23:16 <Eric> ohh, already on GT :-D
16:23:30 <CraigC> you can get better antennas for the baofengs
16:23:37 <Eric> Still no BH or SB...Dave's Fault!
16:23:53 <KevinS> Nothing near the 37 mile claim. I could always give the radios to LoriS!
16:24:13 <Eric> ohhh, radio talk...where is Art :-P
16:24:19 <CraigC> I got a cheap-ish upgrade, can't tell much difference, I have a better one in my cart, with a bigger battery pack, waiting for covid to pass before buying
16:24:26 <ynpvisitor109> FRS is only up to 2 watts
16:24:52 <Eric> 8W can get you from fountain up to UGB!
16:25:21 <Eric> Especially if you are at the West end of UGB
16:27:26 <Eric> So what could be causing this bad network behavior on the cam?
16:27:45 <Eric> Is it the webcam, the wireless link, the router or the modem?
16:29:18 <ynpvisitor109> But you can not use 8 watts on channel 4
16:29:42 <Jake> how would you diagnose, Eric?
16:30:05 <ynpvisitor109> Most likely the internet. Lots of people not working today as it is good friday.
16:30:08 <Jake> 109, can't legally or electronically?
16:30:13 <GO STEAMBOAT> i know peeps at Silex have heard calls from Giant
16:30:30 <CraigC> ynpvisitor109, then why do people with higher watt radios get their calls received further away?
16:30:38 <GO STEAMBOAT> when they were at the wrong place
16:30:40 <KevinS> I have these cobra radios. No clue on the watts, but I have heard UGB call while at Fountain. Cobra ACXT 1035 FLT
16:31:04 <Jake> I doubt it's internet traffic related today, can't be much different than any other day in the last couple weeks
16:31:16 <GO STEAMBOAT> i have heard BHI calls from the overlook. dont get many tho
16:31:17 <Joe> The radio link is up solid, and have been up 22 days since the last reset
16:31:18 <ynpvisitor109> FRS is limited. GMRS is up to 50 watts but not on FRS channels.
16:31:37 <Jake> would love to know if there's increased human/radio activity in UGB today affecting the wireless link
16:31:49 <Jake> FRS is limited legally or laws-of-physics-ly?
16:32:28 <ynpvisitor109> Different frequency for cam radio.
16:32:36 <ynpvisitor109> FRS is limited by the FCC
16:33:35 <Joe> freq band for the cam wireless link is 5.4 gig
16:34:41 <KevinS> My radio has both channels. So using the GRMS is as easy as changinging channels but not legal without a permit.. Got it.
16:34:52 <CraigC> KevinS, googling, looks like they are 2 watts
16:35:05 <ynpvisitor109> NPs site not working. My guess is the internet server. I had trouble with fb live video this week.
16:35:30 <KevinS> Unless we switch to GRMS channels... Want to borrow one?
16:35:31 <Jake> IIRC, anything over 0.5W is not allowed for FRS channels
16:35:33 <ynpvisitor109> Human virus taking down the net.
16:35:48 <ynpvisitor109> only some of them. the others at 2
16:36:01 <Eric> No, it's not an internet issue for the webcam...it's some issue between the telephone companies home office and the router apparently.
16:36:27 <Eric> Yes, legally you cannot transmit about 2W on the FRS channels, unless it's an emergency
16:36:32 <CraigC> this motorola is the best one out of my non-baofeng radios; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00W75BLTU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
16:36:45 <Eric> However, I know it happens often in the park and I really don't believe its an issue.
16:36:52 <ynpvisitor109> Isn't that the internet, or is it the T1?
16:37:15 <Eric> T1 line is between the ranger station and the home office.
16:37:21 <KevinS> SB about to erupt is an emergency communication right Eric??
16:37:37 <Eric> I wouldn't be surprised if it's some issue with the T1 modem or the router.
16:37:53 <Jake> so it's transmitter beware. I would believe the risk of getting caught in YNP is low, but if The Man decides to go after you, you'll be fined to oblivion.
16:38:20 <Eric> Yep...but it's pretty silly, since it won't interfere with anyones use.
16:38:20 <ynpvisitor109> They will take your cell phone away!
16:38:39 <ynpvisitor31> They will escort you to Mammoth
16:38:45 <Eric> and the calls are bursty and not clogging the channels.
16:38:53 <CraigC> I have left various radios on to gauge which gets the best reception, and that motorola sounded the best
16:39:09 <Eric> Nah, the park wouldn't have anything to do with it. FCC guys would have to intervene
16:39:41 <Jake> I'm out. Good luck getting more than 10 seconds of streaming!
16:39:53 <Eric> Have a good weekend Jake
16:39:56 <ynpvisitor109> Good receiver is as important as a good transmitter.
16:39:58 <CraigC> cya Jake
16:40:32 <Eric> Well, if you have a poor transmitter, I don't think a good receiver will help
16:40:33 <Eric> aurum
16:40:34 <Eric> .
16:40:34 <Eric> .
16:40:35 <Eric> .
16:40:37 <Betty> Aurum
16:40:38 <Betty> .
16:40:39 <Eric> freeze frame
16:40:39 <Betty> .
16:40:53 <ynpvisitor109> snow is melting, the string got wet.
16:40:54 <Eric> Stop action :-P
16:40:58 <Joe> AURUM
16:41:02 <KevinS> I will see it in two minutes
16:41:04 <GO STEAMBOAT> yeah, this is going t be a long eruption
16:41:14 <Joe> dam cam would not move
16:41:33 <ynpvisitor109> I was stuck on lion, had to refresh
16:41:38 <LindaG> Yay
16:41:41 <Eric> Maybe someone can just cycle all the power in the ranger station :-P
16:41:50 <Kevin L™ 🌵> It was still good.
16:42:04 <ynpvisitor109> Only way to fix bad copper is with new fiber
16:42:13 <Cooper> bad Cooper??
16:42:16 <Eric> now you are talking my language :-D
16:42:19 <LindaG> I caught 2 seconds, cause I didnt hit play 🙁
16:42:29 <Cooper> oh, bad Copper
16:42:33 <Eric> Fiber to UGB would be spectacular.
16:42:41 <Cooper> Lori you still here?
16:42:46 <Betty> .dome
16:42:49 <ynpvisitor109> Or the dish moved they use to connect the ranger station to the mountain.
16:43:05 <Eric> But they did just update Mt. Washburn, so hopefully updated relay can be put into UGB this summer.
16:43:15 <ynpvisitor109> I seem to remember it is microwave
16:43:47 <Eric> Yep, microwave relay to washburn
16:43:55 <Eric> But they also have copper
16:45:01 <ynpvisitor109> COuld use the T1 to run the cam on the low bandwidth stream, and blast the hdef video on sattelite.
16:46:08 <ynpvisitor109> That would take the IT department only 3 years to figure out.
16:47:31 <ynpvisitor109> Well this is like watching a nascar race, just see the circle.
16:47:39 <Joe> one point last year they discovered hundreds of new growth trees blocking the passive repeater between the Ranger station microwave lin k and Washburn, I do not knowv if they bgot permits to cut them down
16:49:21 <Joe> The radio shop was surprised that washburn was getting any signal at all
16:50:56 <Joe> but it does not take much signal for a voice channel to work but a T1 is a different ball game.
16:53:16 <Eric> I think the static cams are updating better than this one!
16:54:04 <LindaG> Eric, they've been real nice all day
16:54:09 <Eric> Anyone heard if they started working on the employee Internet yet? It was up for open comment last fall.
16:54:49 <Eric> Full broadband network connection for employee areas in OF, Lake, Grant & Canyon
16:58:52 <JarnoO> Some water is rushing at Norris
16:59:04 <ynpvisitor5> Who won the betting pool?
16:59:14 <LindaG> Steamboat
16:59:22 <GO STEAMBOAT> yeah
16:59:25 <Eric> woot
16:59:26 <Betty> yay, Steamboat :-)
16:59:39 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Big signature.
16:59:39 <GO STEAMBOAT> GO ME
16:59:42 <Eric> not me...I said 11 this morning
16:59:55 <GO STEAMBOAT> and we kicked off the 8y interval from the last 100 on GT
16:59:59 <GO STEAMBOAT> (!!
17:00:00 <JarnoO> I had 1543±12h :)
17:00:06 <GO STEAMBOAT> 91
17:00:13 <Eric> not bad Jarno
17:00:21 <LindaG> I had 8d 15hrs 5 min
17:00:43 <Eric> I had 8d 13h 7m
17:00:48 <GO STEAMBOAT> mean dropped from 104 to 72 days
17:00:54 <JarnoO> Mean has dropped by 31 days :D
17:00:55 <LindaG> We are at 8d 13hrs 19min
17:01:07 <Eric> It started 12 minutes ago :-P
17:01:17 <GO STEAMBOAT> still above median so that doesnt drop
17:02:13 <GO STEAMBOAT> 2 more and my first SB will drop off the last 100
17:02:35 <JarnoO> E wc, Joe?
17:03:03 <Eric> Wow...now that is nuts Graham!
17:03:20 <Eric> We have had a 100 SB since we saw our first!
17:03:28 <Eric> in 2 more
17:03:30 <GO STEAMBOAT> it was in 2002
17:03:42 <Eric> ohhh, I thought you meant this series :-D
17:03:47 <ynpvisitor30> did you see the water phase?
17:03:48 <Eric> Was that your nighttime one?
17:03:49 <Joe> wc is a habit allready fixed
17:03:49 <GO STEAMBOAT> saw the staem phase in the morning
17:03:56 <ynpvisitor30> ah
17:03:57 <Eric> ahhh
17:04:14 <Eric> So I guess it was nuts what I thought :-P
17:04:34 <Eric> Bison wandering around doublet
17:04:39 <LindaG> So imwas iff by 2hrs and 2 mins
17:04:50 <Eric> Interesting place for them to hangout
17:05:05 <LindaG> Geez, off by 2hrs 2 min
17:05:07 <CraigC2> SB
17:05:14 <Eric> haha
17:05:27 <ynpvisitor84> 1647 is not primary?
17:05:27 <Eric> Wow...serious dark cloud moving in
17:05:36 <GO STEAMBOAT> I think EMily has the right time
17:06:10 <ynpvisitor84> so wc trumps an E time then?
17:06:10 <GO STEAMBOAT> so wc took priority over E time even tho later?
17:06:25 <GO STEAMBOAT> loosks like it
17:06:30 <ynpvisitor84> ^^ same :)
17:06:36 <ynpvisitor30> it does
17:06:41 <Eric> Meh, they are probably both wrong :-P
17:07:01 <Eric> Hi Emily!
17:07:03 <GO STEAMBOAT> i would just delete your entry Joe
17:07:04 <EmilyW> Time accruacy with steamboat precise to the minute is absolutely meaningless
17:07:28 <GO STEAMBOAT> true, but when comparing the charts it is interesting to know
17:07:29 <Betty> hi Emily
17:07:42 <Eric> Exactly...especially with reading a seismograph...It looks more like 1648 to me
17:07:51 <EmilyW> howdy yall
17:07:55 <JarnoO> I think the thought process was that E times are generally only inferred, while for wc you have some actual proof an eruption happened. So perhaps that's why wc trumps E
17:08:00 <ynpvisitor37> Only out of my window by 22 minutes. Not bad for an old guy
17:08:00 <JarnoO> afternoon Emily
17:08:41 <EmilyW> 1647 vs 1648 Matters not to me
17:08:45 <GO STEAMBOAT> yeah, wc is better than E time, some of the loggers have time drifts too
17:08:47 <Eric> Will be interesting to see if we get a logger spike!
17:08:57 <LindaG> Is the cam stuck?
17:09:13 <LindaG> Oh bottom of bee
17:09:15 <GO STEAMBOAT> wont know its a major till then Eric :)
17:09:17 <CraigC2> Joe's entry got double flagged?
17:09:34 <Cooper> YAY SB. And only 46 mins out of my interval
17:09:35 <Joe> I deleted it
17:09:37 <Eric> Didn't have a spike last time
17:09:42 <Cooper> prediction**
17:09:46 <EmilyW> honestly most geyeser data acurrate to the minute is bleh
17:10:09 <GO STEAMBOAT> need 7 more eruptions top push the "non-major" off the list
17:10:37 <GO STEAMBOAT> go with the Warnock metric, round to the nearest 5min?
17:10:56 <Eric> stay within 1% of the interval?
17:11:19 <EmilyW> no with steamboat rounding the nearest hour or so would likely be fine
17:11:32 <GO STEAMBOAT> nearest hour for big geusers?
17:11:54 <Joe> I am happy that it got posted maks no diff who :)
17:12:31 <EmilyW> intervals yes
17:12:37 <Eric> So within 2 hours keeps you within 1 percent of the interval :-D
17:12:41 <Joe> makes**
17:12:49 <EmilyW> but of course the seconds and minutes are potentially relavent in Event cycle and hot period analysis
17:13:40 <Eric> That was a 12306 minute interval :-P
17:13:44 <GO STEAMBOAT> 91 series, 90 in 2 years, 47 in one year, 11 in one year (last year had 12 at this point)
17:14:01 <JarnoO> Lion in some 20 minutes
17:14:03 <GO STEAMBOAT> 11 this year
17:14:55 <EmilyW> I need to write a sput article on data collection, detection limits, accruacy and precision for geyser data one of these days
17:15:25 <Eric> Please collect all data to the milli!
17:15:38 <CraigC2> the irony of your spelling of accuracy ;)
17:15:38 <Eric> anything else is rubbish
17:15:52 <Eric> :-D
17:15:59 <ynpvisitor4> Big signature
17:16:06 <Eric> quiet day
17:16:23 <Joe> HK is very proud of you Eric :)
17:16:32 <Eric> fishynp was on here and mentioned that the signature size is relative to noise and scaling.
17:16:38 <EmilyW> accccccoraseeee
17:16:53 <Eric> :-D
17:17:03 <GO STEAMBOAT> Eric - there was a good spike in the creek from the last eruption
17:17:11 <GO STEAMBOAT> its attached in GT
17:17:13 <Eric> Right...but not on the logger
17:17:20 <ynpvisitor25> Last year at this time Big D was here
17:17:26 <Eric> I actually wonder if it was a rush of snow melt keeping temps down.
17:17:37 <JarnoO> OF
17:17:42 <GO STEAMBOAT> on the tantalus creek logger big spike
17:18:00 <Eric> I am speaking about the temperature logger
17:18:07 <GO STEAMBOAT> ok, not on the runoff logger, yeah maybe
17:18:28 <Eric> makes sense the spike was huge if it included snow melt
17:18:50 <GO STEAMBOAT> would be odd if it had a non-major in this series
17:20:12 <GO STEAMBOAT> any change in your UC-B plans Emily?
17:20:50 <Eric> BH would be nice before I head out!
17:20:51 <GO STEAMBOAT> not in your league, but i know we have delayed some new interns and college hires
17:20:54 <EmilyW> A lot Graham, I am home in the bay area now and doing remote things only for my PI.
17:21:22 <GO STEAMBOAT> so are you technically at UC?
17:21:33 <GO STEAMBOAT> dome
17:21:48 <EmilyW> are you talking CO or CA here :)
17:22:01 <GO STEAMBOAT> haha .... CO
17:22:05 <EmilyW> oh
17:22:40 <EmilyW> not at the moment. I really hope to move out on time but we will see. My research and therefore money at CU is contingent on what NASA does
17:22:45 <Cooper> what about CO??
17:22:52 <GO STEAMBOAT> if we have returning interns or college hires we are starting them on-time (or early if they had post college plans that vanished)
17:23:26 <EmilyW> Cooper I am going to CU Boulder for grad school starting in the fall
17:23:40 <GO STEAMBOAT> but new ones we are delaying as we cant get them oriented and engaged like we want to
17:24:59 <GO STEAMBOAT> hope it works out fo you
17:24:59 <Cooper> nice
17:25:02 <Cooper> what are you studying?
17:25:19 <EmilyW> atmospheric science.
17:25:38 <Cooper> anything iwth weather?
17:26:05 <EmilyW> its actually more chemistry and cloud physics stuff
17:26:15 <Cooper> fun
17:26:40 <CraigC2> Eric, I think I am going to study up on the hams radio license, how about you?
17:27:13 <EmilyW> Involves lots of instrumentation and tinkery stuff so as a hands on type scientist it is satisfying :)
17:28:19 <Cooper> SCIENCE! :P
17:28:59 <Eric> That sounds like a cool sweet spot
17:29:11 <Eric> What is your undergrad degree in Emily?
17:29:19 <Cooper> I was on a conference call with my science teacher, and he asked me the weather... lets just say, if you ask a weather nerd about the weather, and they are feeling up to giving the info, good luck, you are gonna get a 4 page synopsis :P
17:29:20 <EmilyW> chemistry
17:29:54 <Eric> Nice...my daughter cannot decide between chemistry, physics and mathematics.
17:30:01 <Eric> Lion puffing
17:30:03 <JarnoO> roar
17:30:04 <CraigC2> roar
17:30:08 <EmilyW> whats the end goal?
17:30:23 <Eric> She doesn't know :-P
17:30:28 <EmilyW> and also where did she end up choosing to go eric
17:30:38 <GO STEAMBOAT> getting her out of the house :
17:30:42 <GO STEAMBOAT> :)
17:30:53 <CraigC2> GO STEAMBOAT, hahahaha
17:30:56 <Eric> Not positive yet, but Reed or Grinnell are looking like the options.
17:31:25 <Eric> She wants small liberal arts with strong science and got rejected by a lot of her first choices :-(
17:31:29 <GO STEAMBOAT> wasnt she still in decision mode when all the shit broke out?
17:31:30 <CraigC2> I believe it is good for young people to be flexible on what they go after.... ready to change based on what grabs them as they study
17:32:21 <GO STEAMBOAT> istarted with Physics, then did a complete 180 and switch to Math and Physics
17:32:25 <Eric> She is flexible...she actually is pretty interested in science and ethics/policy.
17:32:48 <EmilyW> I went from ecology to environmental engineering to chemical engineering to chemistry to atmospheric chemistry/science post graduate degree
17:33:03 <GO STEAMBOAT> chemistry was too hard, too many thngs you had to remember
17:33:19 <CraigC2> who wants to end up stuck in something they don't like doing
17:33:24 <Eric> Better than biology though Graham
17:33:35 <GO STEAMBOAT> i dnt think those existed back in the dark ages Emily
17:33:54 <GO STEAMBOAT> I didnt even start on biology
17:33:58 <CraigC2> I only went from Computer programming to Psychology
17:34:12 <Betty> hey, biology is cool!
17:34:30 <GO STEAMBOAT> that explains a lot Craig :)
17:34:38 <Eric> haha
17:34:48 <CraigC2> LOL.... one came easily, the second was a challenge
17:35:07 <Eric> I think she could do chemical engineering, but the schools she likes don't have engineering programs :-(
17:35:15 <GO STEAMBOAT> i added Math because I was better at it, but I enjoyed the Physics more
17:35:44 <CraigC2> my bank account wishes I had gone to engineering
17:35:50 <Eric> I think that is not far off for her too Graham
17:36:13 <EmilyW> is she interested in policy?
17:36:38 <Eric> Yes...I think so Emily and the policy specifically around science
17:36:55 <EmilyW> i wonder if she might be interested in a physics/chem+sociology double major
17:37:05 <Eric> That would be interesting
17:37:29 <Eric> Will talk to the school and her about that...they might also have some suggestions.
17:38:07 <EmilyW> also might be involved in communications
17:38:31 <EmilyW> policy is hard
17:38:39 <Betty> LC
17:39:05 <Eric> Yep it is
17:39:16 <Eric> Roar
17:39:25 <JarnoO> good roar
17:39:31 <CraigC2> lion
17:39:37 <Eric> minorish
17:39:46 <EmilyW> I know a lot of people back door into policy
17:39:49 <CraigC2> patince
17:40:05 <Eric> sustained minor?
17:40:11 <CraigC2> ;)
17:40:17 <JarnoO> nice try, Eric :)
17:40:28 <Eric> weak major
17:41:41 <EmilyW> eric there are various envronmental science groups in certain departments that do policy work
17:42:02 <CraigC2> interesting Lion
17:42:27 <CraigC2> looks like the first day when they open our secondary water
17:42:40 <Eric> Ok...we will ask around at her potential colleges and see if anything resonates.
17:42:46 <Eric> Thanks for your input Emily!
17:42:47 <JarnoO> Lion done
17:42:54 <EmilyW> My head is going eric its bad :)
17:43:28 <Eric> BSB
17:43:38 <CraigC2> yup
17:43:44 <Betty> yay
17:44:10 <Eric> Now give us a BHI please!
17:46:02 <JarnoO> A "classic" 3m33s duration for Lion. Next one @ 1844±5m, provided the series continues
17:51:05 <JarnoO> interesting observation by Udo on Lion's roars and that he has never seen an eruption on or after the 7th roar, thus meaning the series is over
17:51:53 <GO STEAMBOAT> most of the time I thin after4 its done, but I have seen them later
17:52:29 <JarnoO> BSB
17:52:48 <GO STEAMBOAT> thats a strong one
17:52:57 <Joe> 9 min apart
17:53:08 <CraigC2> a gazer told me last summer after the 3rd...LOL
17:53:19 <GO STEAMBOAT> nobody put them on GT?
17:53:39 <JarnoO> they are now
17:55:03 <GO STEAMBOAT> does this meet the Ryan text criteria
17:55:38 <Joe> up to you I would wait for indy
17:57:08 <GO STEAMBOAT> we had 2 and then no more for a long time the other day
17:58:13 <KevinS> I think we need at least three for text.
17:58:49 <KevinS> Unless someone wants to just send Ryan a text.
18:00:07 <GO STEAMBOAT> lake cam view is nice
18:01:26 <JarnoO> BSB
18:02:06 <GO STEAMBOAT> right on time
18:02:15 <JarnoO> decent reply by Bee
18:02:28 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Looks better
18:02:51 <Joe> I would not mind the extra texts but since this system uses a different marker number for each text one cannot assign a different notification tone to these texts
18:02:52 <Jeff> well my prediction for SB was wrong lol
18:03:40 <Cooper> you can have a 1 minute decrase, I will give you that. Making my prediction accuracy now to 47 mins instead of 46
18:03:59 <Joe> and it disturbs my normal flow of texts from others
18:04:32 <JarnoO> how does one actually subscribe to the Sput when you're a foreigner?
18:05:50 <GO STEAMBOAT> yu can get it by email
18:06:10 <GO STEAMBOAT> geyserstudy.org
18:06:36 <GO STEAMBOAT> GOSA doesnt discriminate
18:06:51 <GO STEAMBOAT> at least not in this way :)
18:07:17 <Joe> I don't want it at all since there are so many, my removal requests have been ignored
18:07:18 <JarnoO> yes, but the checkout requires some US address or so, which I obviously don't have. How does that exactly work out?
18:08:12 <Jeff> come on bee please do something lol
18:08:44 <Joe> The last system we were getting cam up cam down texts and other unnecessary texts
18:11:33 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Try the contact GOSA button Jarno. They should be able to help you.
18:11:46 <JarnoO>
18:12:07 <Cooper> Bee looking really good

18:12:12 <Kitt> wakey, wakey
18:12:30 <Cooper> could get a non indy
18:12:57 <JarnoO> that was weird. Splashing wasn't preceded by BSB
18:14:30 <JarnoO> BSb
18:15:13 <Kitt> wow I have a delay
18:17:27 <Kitt> I don't remember how we use to fix the delay
18:17:40 <Kitt> don't want to mess with computer and miss bee

18:20:00 <Jeff> nice splashing
18:20:03 <JarnoO> Bee is teasing us with those splashes
18:20:08 <JarnoO> BSB
18:20:13 <CraigC2> maybe it is an Initial
18:20:21 <JarnoO> Indy

18:22:53 <LindaG> Thx for txt I didnt see
18:23:07 <Kitt> People are cautious in the store, but I see a lot of people standing together in our neighborhood visiting
18:23:37 <Eric> Video is smooth right now!
18:23:57 <Joe> quiet
18:23:58 <JarnoO> viral spread in a store isn't different from spread in the neighborhood. Hopefully they'll realize that soon
18:24:02 <Eric> :-P
18:24:18 <Eric> I don't have that kinda power Joe
18:24:18 <Kitt> we only have one grocery store
18:24:30 <Joe> :)
18:24:56 <Kitt> 5 diagnosed cases in our county
18:25:12 <Cooper> my dad is conviced htat walking around the neighboorhood, is way better than going to a store. Even though our neiberhood has a case already.
18:25:16 <LindaG> I think they think fresh air will reduce risks
18:26:45 <LindaG> I guess I missed alot action on bsb
18:26:48 <Kitt> well if you walk where most people don't, then you are probably pretty safe
18:27:15 <Kitt> I have been opening up our house and airing it out every day that the weather permits
18:27:26 <Jeff> come on bee
18:27:28 <JarnoO> :bee:
