03:40:21 <ynpvisitor77> SB 0300 confirmed
04:02:57 <ynpvisitor51> Two ahead of 2019. For a few hours....👍
04:52:07 <CraigC> I should have kept my mouth shut... last evening i said it would go at 3
05:01:06 <ynpvisitor8> not a bad interval at all
05:01:36 <ynpvisitor8> after that weird wobble in intervals that it did
05:04:23 <JarnoO> nice one, Craig
05:04:27 <JarnoO> morning all
05:04:43 <ynpvisitor56> I guessed 0300 and am now happy
05:05:20 <ynpvisitor8> YNM was quiet, I thought I was looking at YNR...
05:07:38 <ynpvisitor56> That is a very mellow trace on YNM
05:08:39 <GO STEAMBOAT> yeah glad it erupted, sorry it didnt wait till daylight
05:08:56 <JarnoO> morning Graham
05:09:05 <GO STEAMBOAT> lat night I almost said I wanted it to wait to daylight, but remembered to never tell big geysers to wait
05:09:10 <GO STEAMBOAT> morning
05:09:56 <GO STEAMBOAT> so 113 in eries, 100 in 2 years (+1), 50 in 1 year (+1) 33 this yerar (2 ahead of last year, +1)
05:10:08 <GO STEAMBOAT> lots of improved numbers this time
05:10:48 <GO STEAMBOAT> mea for last 100 is down to 7d11h10m and median dropped below 7 days to 6d23h141m, wow
05:11:31 <GO STEAMBOAT> SB also erupted on 20th last year, so we are really only 1 ahead
05:11:52 <GO STEAMBOAT> since we had a leap yer this year
05:12:23 <JarnoO> you'd never think for that to happen, a median below 7d (or anywhere below perhaps 14d)
05:12:38 <GO STEAMBOAT> agree Jarno,but still distinctive
05:13:06 <ynpvisitor8> We are 111 days from being 1000 days into this active phase
05:13:34 <GO STEAMBOAT> it has never been this regular which is why I kee saying all bets are off for how long this lasts
05:13:43 <GO STEAMBOAT> oh nice
05:14:04 <JarnoO> we're definitely being spoilt :)
05:14:16 <GO STEAMBOAT> hopefully we get there and still have a 7 day median
05:14:58 <GO STEAMBOAT> maybe the SB frequency is preventing the disturbances from happening too
05:15:56 <ynpvisitor8> Maybe
05:16:28 <ynpvisitor8> From the only two other phases, they seem to last longer when the activity is stronger.
05:17:03 <GO STEAMBOAT> we dont have many series data points tho, haha
05:17:29 <GO STEAMBOAT> and won't have many more in our lifetimes, yes including yung gazers
05:17:33 <ynpvisitor8> No, but of the three we have now the trend holds.
05:17:46 <GO STEAMBOAT> but maybe this one won't stop
05:17:58 <ynpvisitor8> Eh, I reasonably expect to see two more.
05:18:17 <GO STEAMBOAT> not if this one lasts 50 years
05:18:37 <ynpvisitor8> Not sure that counts as an active phase. ;)
05:18:55 <ynpvisitor8> Then we have "dormancy phases"
05:18:56 <JarnoO> maybe it'll pull an Echinus
05:20:22 <GO STEAMBOAT> hopefully we dont get them #8
05:21:07 <ynpvisitor8> Agree
05:21:20 <ynpvisitor8> Just need to keep the park from expanding access haha
05:21:36 <GO STEAMBOAT> happy 100th anniversary of Flight Service Station ... free ice cream at work today ....... but they didnt send any to those of us working at home :(
05:21:59 <GO STEAMBOAT> there are more viewing spots now as the trees are dying
05:22:42 <GO STEAMBOAT> maybe fr SB building the new BW made it more active ... hum
05:23:47 <JarnoO> maybe go to work only for picking up icecream? :D
05:27:23 <GO STEAMBOAT> 35 mile drive ... nope ... i will get a gallon at the grocery store
05:28:28 <GO STEAMBOAT> time to do some "home work" bbl
05:28:39 <JarnoO> cya Graham
05:32:33 <KorbenC> dangit, SB went overnight and didnt wait for Forest
05:34:37 <KorbenC> Good morning all.
05:34:49 <JarnoO> morning Korben
05:36:30 <ynpvisitor8> R gets... cloggy.... when I have it do too much.
05:36:43 <ynpvisitor8> OF analysis script now takes several minutes to run...
05:36:48 <KorbenC> Morning Ryan.
05:37:08 <JarnoO> that's quite some time
05:39:19 <ynpvisitor8> Well I am currently asking it to do 1.3 X 10^12 calculations
05:39:41 <JarnoO> ...
05:39:57 <ynpvisitor8> yup
05:40:57 <JarnoO> foggy start of the day
05:41:06 <ynpvisitor8> Very interesting
05:41:25 <ynpvisitor8> accuracy of predictions minimizes at 100 eruptions...
05:41:31 <KorbenC> Ryan, your running OF stats right now?
05:41:40 <ynpvisitor8> yes
05:41:44 <ynpvisitor8> developing the codes
05:42:10 <KorbenC> I apprecitate it because hopefuly it means I dont have to learn R just yet :D
05:44:00 <ynpvisitor8> https://imgur.com/a/EIdvZ0y
05:44:17 <ynpvisitor8> Well, that was unexpected. I dont know of we need to keep logging OFs
05:44:53 <JarnoO> well, after 400 it seems to drop off again. What's up with that?
05:44:55 <ynpvisitor8> At least for analysis... We could keep running them for predictions
05:45:18 <ynpvisitor8> I wonder if its just "noise" JO.
05:45:22 <KorbenC> It does seem that our err has averaged out alot.
05:45:26 <JarnoO> valid point
05:45:49 <ynpvisitor8> We have 618 in the data pool, I will run this out to 500 and see what happens.
05:46:00 <ynpvisitor8> I picked 400 arbitrarily. I could go out to 600....
05:46:47 <ynpvisitor8> Something is... smelly.... though
05:47:01 <ynpvisitor8> 100 is an oddly perfect number to be correct
05:47:11 <ynpvisitor8> Though, I guess the min is closer to 95...
05:48:05 <ynpvisitor8> Another thing, JO, is I bet the average error is starting to reflect changes in average intervals over time as you get closer to the end of the data pool.
05:48:44 <KorbenC> Something to remember (if I am remembering right) is that around 100 eruptions we had polar predictions, it would be 0 minutes, 0 minutes, 12 minutes, 4 minutes, 0 minutes, 0 minutes.
05:49:01 <JarnoO> that's likely, Ryan
05:49:39 <KorbenC> Fair point R
05:49:42 <ynpvisitor8> https://imgur.com/F4s9bPr
05:49:55 <ynpvisitor8> Ran out to 600 it just keeps bouncing around....
05:52:44 <JarnoO> yeah, so the perfect prediction point lies around 100. Well. Just learned another thing of OF. I wonder how many times that was found (maybe we're the first :))
05:53:20 <KorbenC> JarnoO,
05:53:38 <ynpvisitor8> im plotting up how the slope and intercept varies over time with 95 eruptions
05:53:46 <ynpvisitor8> then a histogram of error distributions
05:53:54 <KorbenC> OF is very dainty, puts it's perfect prediction pt near 100, pft :)
05:54:26 <ynpvisitor8> I'd keep logigng data for now, but in the next week after playing around with it a good bit I think we will know if we need to continue for the purposes of analysis.
05:54:49 <KorbenC> and by analysis you mean predictions?
05:54:57 <ynpvisitor8> Otherwise I think we can modify the current google sheet to work with 95 eruptions for predictions and see where we go from there
05:55:06 <ynpvisitor8> No, I mean analysis :)
05:55:20 <KorbenC> Oh, now I see what you are saying :D
05:55:43 <ynpvisitor8> I would not have Eric change anything in GT until after this thing is approved for publishing.
05:57:11 <KorbenC>
05:58:10 <KorbenC> Time to go make some Uitsmijter for breakfast :)
06:16:24 <KorbenC> I am back, this time with breakfast and a pulled musle (that is why I dont try to strech too far back :))
06:20:30 <JarnoO> Atlantic TD Thirteen, Eastern Pacific Genevieve 70kt; Atlantic 90/90 (1), 20/40 (2); Eastern Pacific 0/50 (1); Central Pacific 10/10 (1), 0/10 (2)
06:20:55 <KorbenC> half an hour ago that was 70/80
06:21:12 <JarnoO> and so it begins I guess
06:21:50 <JarnoO> seems like 90/90 could pull a Harvey
06:22:28 <KorbenC> very well could go over Yucatan as TS or Cat1 or so, and then just explode in the gulf
06:22:54 <JarnoO> could also hit New Orleans, maybe as another Katrina
06:23:19 <KorbenC> lets hope that that system does not explode in the gulf :D
06:23:25 <JarnoO> but since we cannot control the weather, I gues it's just wait and see

06:26:11 <ynpvisitor8> Next OF 7:45:52
06:26:15 <ynpvisitor8> Window pending
06:26:19 <KorbenC> JarnoO,
06:34:06 <ynpvisitor8> Window is +/-7min
06:44:46 <JarnoO> morning Forest
06:45:27 <Forestbewithyou> Hey
06:45:28 <KorbenC> I tried to hold off SB for you this morning :(
06:45:42 <Forestbewithyou> We all knew it was going to go overnight
06:45:49 <Forestbewithyou> It had so much energy
06:46:17 <KorbenC> that minor video you sent me was a really really good one, IDK why it didnt start it, thats what my starts looked like :)
06:47:41 <ynpvisitor8> Stephens (2001) describes "minor" eruptions of OF being reported or observed and that their existence was controversial
06:52:00 <Forestbewithyou> We also had a nice thunderstorm roll through while waiting for steamboat yesterday
06:54:57 <ynpvisitor8> controversial, but now supported opinion: JO and I have noted minor eruptions of Old Faithful four times now.
06:55:25 <ynpvisitor8> 8/4/20 at 14:42, 2/13/20 at 11:33, 2/17/20 at 11:39, and 10/16/18 at 0417.
06:55:49 <ynpvisitor8> All of them meet the same description and behavior as the minor events noted in the 1980s by reliable observers.
06:57:31 <JarnoO> does that description for minor events appear in a Transactions?
06:57:47 <ynpvisitor8> Yes, 2002.
06:57:57 <JarnoO> thanks, I'll read up on it
06:58:03 <ynpvisitor8> Lynns article, its a quote from Rick Hutchinson and acouple others
06:58:23 <Forestbewithyou> I need to get ready for a day of gazing in the ugb ttyl
06:58:34 <JarnoO> cya Forest
07:01:45 <Kat> Good morning all!
07:03:52 <Kat> LC
07:06:21 <ynpvisitor66> Median for last 100 SB's has dropped below 7 days
07:06:37 <ynpvisitor66> 2020 now has more eruptions than all of 2018
07:07:05 <ynpvisitor66> We are on pace for 51-52 eruptions this year; except #8 is going to SB soon:)
07:07:36 <ynpvisitor8> Yup, hope y'all enjoy disturbances.
07:07:58 <ynpvisitor8> Cause at least one is on the way in one form or another
07:08:10 <ynpvisitor66> Are you talking about your stomach?
07:08:33 <ynpvisitor8> No I meant either the geothermal form, or the human form.
07:08:46 <ynpvisitor8> Don't you know theres a disturbance in the park when I enter the gates?
07:08:56 <ynpvisitor8> grand
07:09:12 <ynpvisitor8> Gazers everywhere experience a cold chill when I drive into the park...
07:09:57 <ynpvisitor66> So, are you parking at Steerage or Decker Island for your SB watch?
07:10:43 <ynpvisitor8> Steerage if I can be comfortable there.
07:10:46 <ynpvisitor8> Otherwise Decker
07:11:07 <JarnoO> hm, can't seem to download the 2002 Transactions :(
07:12:14 <ynpvisitor8> I have photo scans
07:12:37 <JarnoO> that would be helpful
07:13:05 <ynpvisitor8> incoming email photo vomit
07:13:09 <ynpvisitor66> Best of luck, Ryan. What days are you in YNP?
07:13:10 <JarnoO> haha
07:13:27 <ynpvisitor8> Thursday evening to Tuesday morning
07:13:42 <ynpvisitor8> SB on track now for a prediction window centered on Saturday the 5th
07:14:03 <KorbenC> tHX rYAB
07:14:07 <KorbenC> Thx Ryan**
07:14:20 <JarnoO> thanks. Love me some photo spam :D
07:16:11 <ynpvisitor8> Four OFs entered now as minors, need GT to change their threshold for OF duplicates
07:17:14 <KorbenC> 2nd
07:18:24 <ynpvisitor8> Im now onboard with Old Faithful minors.
07:18:27 <KorbenC> Hi Linda
07:18:33 <ynpvisitor8> rare, but they apparently are real...
07:18:58 <LindaG> Tried to use the time option on getvideo last night, didnt work. Did it twice. Has anyone used today?
07:19:06 <LindaG> KorbenC, hi
07:19:32 <KorbenC> wroks for me Linda
07:20:03 <LindaG> Getvideo works but did you put time in brackets?
07:20:19 <Kat> 1 burst
07:20:26 <LindaG> Eric changed it
07:20:32 <LindaG> Kat, hi
07:20:41 <Kat> Hi Linda
07:21:10 <LindaG> I'll try
07:22:09 <LindaG> Ok that worked I put In 12 minutes
07:22:23 <KorbenC> Kat, you sure?
07:23:40 <KorbenC> LindaG,
07:24:04 <Kat> So steamy!
07:24:35 <Kat> KorbenC, I could be wrong -I'll look at video again
07:28:32 <Eric> Good Morning
07:28:42 <KorbenC> Hi Eric
07:28:52 <JarnoO> morning Eric
07:28:55 <KorbenC> well, tiem to go risk my health getting a school ID :D Bye all.
07:29:21 <JarnoO> wear a mask, Korben. That should at least decrease the risk
07:29:28 <Eric> Hi Jarno & Coop
07:29:39 <JarnoO> and stay as far away as possible from other people
07:29:45 <KorbenC> Ill be wearing an N-95 Jarno, but IDK how many other people will be wearing masks at all
07:29:53 <Eric> Wow...so hazy on the static cams
07:29:56 <KorbenC> beleive me, I will stay away from everyone :)
07:30:05 <KorbenC> But they are going to make me take my mask of for the picture.
07:30:29 <Eric> well, as long as you are 6ft from others in your picture, you should be fine.
07:30:51 <KorbenC> I made sure not to shower for the last week so people stay away from me ;) Kidding.
07:33:22 <SantaFe108> GOY 5th edition arrives today :)
07:35:05 <JarnoO> \0/
07:35:32 <Eric> Great!
07:35:40 <Eric> Cool sun in the haze
07:35:49 <Eric> This should be a nice OF
07:35:55 <SantaFe108> :D
07:36:00 <SantaFe108> golden runoff
07:37:31 <Kat> Hi eric
07:37:40 <Kat> Eric*
07:38:32 <SantaFe108> hey eric I have a gt question
07:43:45 <Eric> Maybe
07:47:23 <Eric> Hey Jarno, what is the typical duration for OFG-1?
07:49:01 <ynpvisitor8> Eric, do you think you could reduce the time between OF entries to about 5 minutes for them being combined.
07:49:12 <JarnoO> unknown, but reports are "hours", with unknown intervals
07:50:03 <JarnoO> it's far away from any boardwalk and its height is only up to a feet or two or so
07:50:11 <Eric> ok...just checking for the min interval thing. You should be fine.
07:50:58 <JarnoO> Thanks for Old Faithful article, Ryan. Very interesting read
07:51:18 <ynpvisitor8> The minors I entered auto combined to their respective majors
07:51:26 <ynpvisitor8> or "normals"
07:51:36 <ynpvisitor8> I suppose OF minors are much like Lion minors.
07:51:48 <Eric> OF minors?
07:52:05 <ynpvisitor8> Apparently they are things...
07:52:22 <Eric> not that I have heard of...preplay is a thing
07:52:57 <Eric> BTW Jarno, your geysers are now in GT, let me know if there are any issues.
07:52:58 <ynpvisitor8> Hutchinson (1982), Railey (1987), Moss (1985), and Paperiello (1996) summarized by Stephens (2002)
07:53:20 <JarnoO> thanks. All looks good so far
07:53:29 <ynpvisitor8> Arguably again observed in October 2018 by JArno, twice in Feb 2020 by myself, and again by JO on Aug 4, 2020
07:53:38 <Eric> oh wow...ok, had no idea!
07:53:46 <Kat> OF
07:54:12 <Eric> I have seen what I would consider a minor too, but just assume it was large preplay.
07:54:26 <ynpvisitor8> Those three observations from the 1980s were controversial but they match the same thing JO and I saw recently that we left notes for. I went into GT and changed those notes to eruptions.
07:54:32 <Eric> Let me run that one by the team...I assume I know who you are :-D
07:55:04 <SantaFe108> atomic OF
07:55:13 <Eric> such pretty light
07:55:33 <JarnoO> OF tried hard for a short there
07:55:51 <ynpvisitor8> Per Hutchinson (1987) "Preplay has been interpreted as splashing activity of less than 30s... of low maximum height (less than 10m [33ft]).
07:56:27 <ynpvisitor8> All events seen lasted longer than 30s, and some were nearly 140ft tall.
07:57:15 <ynpvisitor8> All of them preceeded normal eruptions by consistent intervals of 9-16 minutes, or in one case 30min, with a rough correlation between duration and following interval. The eruptions following the minors were normal ones.
07:57:44 <ynpvisitor8> If JO and I saw true minor eruptions, then the total number recorded comes to 7, with another one mentioned by Hutchinson but no date and time given.
07:58:19 <ynpvisitor8> Glad we left notes for those events....
07:59:40 <Eric> Thanks...I will run it by the team
08:00:00 <SantaFe108> hey eric I have a question
08:00:01 <ynpvisitor8(mee> OF barely in window lol
08:01:43 <Eric> You said that before SantaFe
08:01:53 <SantaFe108> oops
08:02:54 <SantaFe108> I was wondering why only a few geysers have photos on mobile and alot dont
08:03:20 <ynpvisitor74> None do on iPhone
08:03:39 <Eric> BTW, well thought out discussion about these kinds of things can go directly to support@geysertimes.org :-D I already copy/pasted your chat to the team, but an email is faster and doesn't go through my filters :-D
08:03:43 <ynpvisitor74> What ever became of that photo contest?
08:05:17 <Eric> The photos are going to get integrated into the application, it just takes development cycles to add them.
08:05:23 <Eric> It will happen.
08:05:34 <Eric> bulger
08:06:12 <lori lurking Je> quick question- saw a pic on facebook, captioned Lime Geyser. Looks like maybe Crater Hills? Is that correct?
08:06:30 <lori lurking Je> It isn't in the book
08:11:44 <Eric> Never heard of it...but there are a bunch of features out at Crater Hills that you don't hear much about
08:12:26 <lori lurking Je> ok, thanks!
08:16:39 <Kat> 3C
08:20:23 <JarnoO> OT ie
08:37:40 <JarnoO> Aurum was 0830 on static
08:37:54 <SantaFe108> dang :(
08:38:17 <JarnoO> I only found it because I wanted Dome's start time :)
08:39:03 <SantaFe108> dome is interesting
08:42:58 <JarnoO> Grotto Fountain first convincing steam 0828, Grotto start 0839
08:43:03 <Eric> Nice catch Jarno
08:45:25 <SantaFe108> breakfast
08:45:52 <Mike J> Signing in with great jealously seeing the cloudy day
08:46:19 <JarnoO> morning Mike
08:46:53 <Eric> I think it's more haze then clouds
08:46:58 <Eric> Hi Mike
08:47:08 <SantaFe108 mobi> hi mike
08:47:34 <Mike J> Anything that would cover the sun for a while, I'm a fan of.
08:47:38 <Mike J> And good morning all.
08:47:54 <SantaFe108 mobi> looks like forest is by lion
08:48:31 <Eric> Just be thankful you are not in the bay area 105 and wildfires raging!
08:48:43 <Eric> Getting ugly down there
08:48:44 <Eric> daisy
08:48:49 <Eric> I think
08:48:58 <Eric> or not
08:49:22 <SantaFe108 mobi> i feel you eric, riverside ca
08:49:48 <Mike J> Eric our 110+ with fires in the distance (there are about three burning within a 70 mile radius of the city), in spite of the way it sounds, is definitely better than what SF is going through right now
08:50:16 <Mike J> We're geared for it (at least, as geared as anyone can get.)
08:50:40 <Eric> Yes, Santa Cruz area is being gutted and the winds are taking the smoke/ash into the city
08:51:24 <Mike J> When the big Riverside fire was burning, the smoke came all the way over here (Phoenix) and for about three hours we had a yellow tint to everything.
08:51:49 <Eric> wow...the wildfire map is crazy! https://www.esri.com/en-us/disaster-response/disasters/wildfires
08:51:54 <SantaFe108 mobi> luckily the closest fire to me is 95% contained
08:52:38 <ynpvisitor17> Hi it’s me forest and actually I am by the Lowe hams I saw little cub from there
08:52:44 <Eric> that is good....the problem is california is out of planes to dump water on these fires! Too many of them. Now colorado has fires and they sent their planes to california
08:52:55 <Eric> Nice and Hi Forest
08:53:24 <Mike J> Eric thanks for the link to that map. Hadn't seen it and a great resource.
08:53:28 <ynpvisitor17> Hi Eric
08:54:01 <SantaFe108 mobi> Forest!!!
08:54:39 <ynpvisitor17> SF!!! Lol
08:55:01 <ynpvisitor17> If you guys can’t spot me then we have issues lol
08:55:22 <ynpvisitor17> I am wearing a bright yellow coat
08:56:05 <SantaFe108 mobi> then we'll see you if you're down basin
08:56:17 <Eric> Go stand at Bulger :-P
08:56:35 <ynpvisitor17> I am by castle right jow
08:56:40 <Eric> ohh, we never got a BH last night????
08:56:48 <Eric> trees block castle

08:57:49 <JarnoO> maybe try Beehive in 6 hours or so - that's the other interval it really likes
08:58:05 <Eric> haha...was just going to type that Jarno...about 6 more hours.
08:58:17 <Mike J> Hadn't thought of this, but maybe we should make that the official geyser garb - yellow cones.
08:58:20 <JarnoO> Mike, that message made me burst into laughter for the first time ever
08:58:46 <Mike J> I always enjoy a literal lol (which I never type)

09:45:11 <ynpvisitor8(lun> huh, just looked and I could have sworn I had a video capture of one of the OF minors in February
09:45:36 <SantaFe108> what does an OF minor do?
09:46:21 <ynpvisitor8> Basically look like a normal eruption, or very large preplay, for more than 30s and then dies followed by a long quiet period of 7-18 minutes before having a normal eruption
09:46:34 <ynpvisitor8> Lion minors are similar. The OF ones apparently are quite rare
09:48:46 <SantaFe108> interesting
09:49:11 <ynpvisitor8> i learned about then four hours ago
09:50:53 <JarnoO> morning Kevin

09:58:13 <SantaFe108> good news
09:58:34 <Eric> also looks like there was a helicopter crash in CA that killed the pilot yesterday while fighting fires :-(

10:13:07 <KorbenC> West Bubblers blipping
10:13:27 <SantaFe108> ver ncice
10:13:32 <SantaFe108> very nice*
10:13:40 <Eric> South Bubbler seems to be having radio silence
10:14:27 <SantaFe108> south bubbler needs to turn its radio to 4.5
10:16:35 <Eric> LC ie
10:16:42 <Eric> Pump!
10:16:48 <SantaFe108> :)
10:17:42 <Eric> I kind of want to hike up to that rock y area up and to the left of solitary!
10:19:23 <SantaFe108> looks interesting
10:21:14 <Eric> There is a really good map/atlas that I cannot remember the name of online. It has all the Yellowstone backcountry campsites on it and it has tons of other geographic locations, better than most ones I have used.
10:21:34 <SantaFe108> huh
10:22:01 <KorbenC> TD-13 now forecast to hug the coast of Florida as Cat1, it was TS
10:22:02 <Eric> This is it...just found it! https://naturalatlas.com/

10:38:58 <ynpvisitor106> Spas only has one vent going
10:39:00 <SantaFe108> this pleases the geyser gods
10:40:31 <KorbenC> Spas still having only 1 vent = good good sign
10:40:43 <KorbenC> Lion ie 1039, thx Jeff
10:40:54 <ynpvisitor106> Korben can it have a series of one?
10:40:55 <SantaFe108> KorbenC, what does spa only 1 vent do
10:41:27 <KorbenC> Generally when Churn erupts or is going to erupt you want the rest of the compelx, perticularly Spas to be low water
10:41:31 <ynpvisitor106> Hang on a sec brb
10:42:05 <KorbenC> Lion post eruptive
10:42:22 <SantaFe108> spa is very far away?
10:42:27 <SantaFe108> unelss there is another I dont know about

11:08:14 <SantaFe108> lori you in california?
11:08:32 <Lori S> no, West
11:09:08 <Lori S> smoke is rolling in no doubt from yesterdays lightening
11:09:43 <KorbenC> Lead time for lock was 3 minutes and 8 seconds
11:10:28 <Lori S> OK seriously time to sleep
11:11:08 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Wow. Almost missed this. It is National Toilet Paper Day.
11:11:24 <Lori S> I shall drrsm of Steamboat at sunrise on Sunday
11:11:43 <ynpvisitor38> Are there fires in the park or nearby?
11:11:46 <Lori S> Kevin L™ 🌵, no way
11:12:18 <SantaFe108> oh
11:12:21 <Lori S> ynpvisitor38, have to be but havent looked
11:12:32 <ynpvisitor38> OK
11:12:44 <SantaFe108> seeing how 2020 is going for california i wouldnt be suprised if a 7.0+ quake rolls on through
11:12:54 <Lori S> recent from storm yesterday i think
11:12:59 <Eric> I assume so...it's been hazy all morning 38
11:13:35 <ynpvisitor38> BTW, you all know me
11:14:02 <SantaFe108> of course mr. 38
11:14:12 <SantaFe108> spinkerler
11:14:15 <Lori S> lets see, who isnt here
11:14:27 <SantaFe108> craig?
11:14:47 <SantaFe108> wow im wrong
11:15:07 <JarnoO> morning Jimbo. Are you trying to replace calcium today?
11:15:11 <SantaFe108> one day craig will have a house in the myraid group
11:15:20 <Estroncio> Only when I fit in the crystal
11:15:28 <ynpvisitor106> I don’t think we will get a second from churn
11:15:31 <JarnoO> :)
11:15:39 <SantaFe108> dang
11:15:45 <Eric> hazy dazy
11:16:04 <Lori S> zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
11:16:10 <SantaFe108> dosy
11:16:13 <Eric> wow...you can really feel the smoke on washburn
11:16:20 <Eric> night Lori
11:16:42 <Lori S> Goodnight :)
11:17:03 <Estroncio> I'm trying to find a current fire alert
11:17:04 <SantaFe108> night lori
11:17:13 <Eric> So steamboat really did settle back down into 5.5 days, very interesting
11:17:37 <Eric> A few fires in Eastern Idaho that could be causing the smoke I guess Jimbo
11:18:23 <Eric> https://idfg.idaho.gov/ifwis/maps/realtime/fire/
11:18:36 <Kevin L™ 🌵> 1988 was awful. The smoke set off alarms in the cabins.
11:18:59 <Eric> bear creek fire is almost 8k acres
11:19:03 <SantaFe108> i think ynp instagram made a post about 1988 fire today
11:19:40 <ynpvisitor106> Is that Riverside?
11:19:49 <ynpvisitor106> I can’t tell from saw
11:19:59 <SantaFe108> looks like maybe
11:20:12 <SantaFe108> I see steam peaking a little above the trees
11:20:19 <SantaFe108> not anymore
11:20:26 <Eric> I might try to crank down the segments to 5 seconds instead of 15 seconds on the recordings here...that will let you capture the current stuff quicker and possibly cause less pause issues for you on shorter cuts Jarno.
11:20:46 <Estroncio> Yes, Bear Creek looks like the problem. I'll check Worldview in a couple of hours.
11:21:24 <Eric> check out san fran Jimbo...it's nuts with smoke/fire
11:23:31 <Estroncio> Oh yeah, I know that, NASA showing several images.
11:25:32 <SantaFe108> korben want to know a shocker
11:27:07 <KorbenC> SantaFe108, Im waiting :D
11:27:21 <SantaFe108> never seen daisy in person
11:27:30 <KorbenC> WAA>
11:27:58 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Daisy is fun in person
11:28:02 <SantaFe108> if I listed the major geysers ive never seen/missed because of grand on july 19th it would be very long
11:28:12 <KorbenC> You should see Daisy, fun one, especially the build up too the starts.
11:28:23 <ynpvisitor106> What?!?
11:28:31 <SantaFe108> grand on july 19th cost me Arty and Aurum
11:28:35 <ynpvisitor106> Do you only sit by sprinkler SF?
11:28:40 <SantaFe108> uhhhhh.....
11:28:53 <SantaFe108> my lawyer has advised me not to answer
11:29:01 <SantaFe108> jk
11:29:17 <SantaFe108> sprinkler was basically all I saw while waiting for grand that day so..
11:29:25 <SantaFe108> besides occasional bulger major
11:29:51 <SantaFe108> i waited from 12:30 to 3:30 at grand seating area
11:29:56 <SantaFe108> but it wasnt too bad
11:30:02 <ynpvisitor106> You know the bulger I am waiting dor
11:30:17 <SantaFe108> me and this old lady in an electric scooter recorded the turban cycle together and she taught me alot about how it worked
11:30:40 <StaceyM> Inez?
11:30:48 <SantaFe108> I didnt get her name
11:30:52 <ynpvisitor106> Ok so let me ask you this what predicable geysers have you seen
11:31:10 <SantaFe108> of, grand, daisy (from grand waiting 2x)
11:31:13 <SantaFe108> let me think
11:31:49 <SantaFe108> does SB count since we sorta narrowed down what days it erupts
11:32:41 <SantaFe108> castle erupted before i came to UGB for 4 hours so missed that
11:33:09 <SantaFe108> 99% of my time in ugb was just sitting at grand with the scooter lady and her husband
11:33:21 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Best Castle view is under a full moon.
11:33:28 <SantaFe108> while arty and aurum get called on radio
11:34:09 <Eric> welcome to gazing...you can't be everywhere
11:34:40 <ynpvisitor106> West triplet and delta are ie
11:34:54 <Eric> delta?
11:34:54 <SantaFe108> grand waited till its window was over to erupt, while I was walking back from the restroom at gas station
11:34:58 <SantaFe108> delta?!?!
11:35:00 <SantaFe108> o.o
11:35:13 <SantaFe108> i thought delta died with sawmill?
11:35:23 <SantaFe108> or penta*
11:35:27 <SantaFe108> wait im dumb
11:35:33 <SantaFe108> i thought delta = penta
11:35:57 <SantaFe108> delta is the little guy north of east triplet and sputnik right?
11:36:32 <ynpvisitor106> Yes
11:36:40 <Eric> Nice...didn't know about delta back there
11:37:08 <ynpvisitor106> I didn’t either until shortly before I came
11:37:32 <SantaFe108> I only knew about them because I like to browse GT map sometimes and I found them randomly
11:41:12 <ynpvisitor106> So SF why is sprinkler your favorite?
11:41:24 <ynpvisitor106> Just out of curiosity
11:42:17 <SantaFe108> before I knew radio ettiquete I called it on radio like 5 time in one day and Craig cast his wrath upon me
11:43:14 <ynpvisitor106> Oh brother
11:43:37 <SantaFe108> "I am going to throw that kid and his radio into the firehole river" or something like that
11:43:45 <SantaFe108> korben thought it was hilarious
11:46:08 <SantaFe108> anyway nowadays its really an inside joke about sprinkler.
11:46:14 <ynpvisitor106> Yea I did as well sorta
11:46:34 <SantaFe108> but we learn :)
11:47:06 <SantaFe108> I think sprinkler is cool anyway, a cute small geyser, erupts frequently, even has a smaller neighbor next to it!
11:47:10 <ynpvisitor106> Of course. I learn all the time
11:47:24 <ynpvisitor106> Yea
11:47:32 <SantaFe108> as long as geysers keep emerging out of earth there will be more to learn
11:47:45 <Eric> I liked calling Little Cub :-D
11:48:19 <SantaFe108> little cub and sprinkler were some of my heinous crimes
11:48:28 <Eric> But I think Pump! Might be my new favorite while in basin :-P
11:48:55 <SantaFe108> pump is fun
11:49:03 <Eric> hey forest, is solstice still IE?
11:49:18 <ynpvisitor106> Umm where is that located?
11:49:29 <Eric> north of oblong on the other side of the river
11:49:41 <Eric> it was a perpetual spouter
11:49:52 <ynpvisitor106> Umm I am not over there but if you need me to go over there I dan
11:50:05 <Eric> But nobody has logged it since 7/27 and then before that 7/1
11:50:17 <SantaFe108> weird
11:50:41 <ynpvisitor106> I can go see if you need however I am expecting a bulger possibly soon
11:50:59 <Eric> If you wonder down past oblong, just make a note if it's still off, add an eruption if it's IE
11:51:07 <ynpvisitor106> I am also watching saw which has quite high water levels. Higher than I normally see
11:51:08 <Eric> not urgent
11:51:15 <Eric> just curious
11:51:34 <ynpvisitor106> Ok I will probably go down there a bit later
11:51:35 <Eric> notes on it say inactive from 8/1 on
11:51:47 <ynpvisitor106> Ok
11:52:02 <SantaFe108> man I wish oblong would come back
11:52:08 <SantaFe108> yt videos of it look so cool
11:52:15 <Eric> Guess someone would have noted it if active again.
11:52:24 <Eric> The thumps are great too 108
11:52:56 <SantaFe108> did oblong go dormant for any particular reason?
11:53:24 <Eric> lion
11:53:25 <Eric> ie
11:53:32 <Eric> it's not dormant
11:53:36 <SantaFe108> it isnt?
11:53:40 <ynpvisitor106> Yup
11:53:43 <Eric> it still has occasional eruptions.
11:53:44 <ynpvisitor106> It just started 11:52
11:53:47 <SantaFe108> o.o
11:53:54 <ynpvisitor106> So not ie
11:54:07 <Eric> ns :-D
11:54:40 <ynpvisitor106> :)
11:55:14 <ynpvisitor106> You know what would make this trip the best ever is if sawmill just reactivated all of a sudden... it won’t of course but that would be cool
11:55:15 <SantaFe108> how do you tell if its the start of a lion series?
11:55:37 <SantaFe108> I remember seeing sawmill as a small child
11:55:42 <SantaFe108> if only I knew what would happen
11:56:52 <SantaFe108> imagine if big cub reactivated
11:57:53 <ynpvisitor22> Ok so my chat page crashed so this is new forest
11:58:02 <SantaFe108> welcome back!
11:58:23 <ynpvisitor22> Thanks
11:58:38 <ynpvisitor22> Wow sawmill is really high
11:59:29 <SantaFe108> rip churn
12:00:05 <ynpvisitor22> Yup. I am still hopeful that maybe on the next drain but I highly highly doubt it
12:00:42 <SantaFe108> I wonder if giant group is doing anythign
12:01:16 <ynpvisitor22> It had a slowdown when I went down there a few days ago
12:01:36 <ynpvisitor22> Which lead to a couple of pauses about 10 seconds each maybe
12:01:59 <SantaFe108> bijou stop at all?
12:02:48 <ynpvisitor22> Yes that is a pause.. lasted maybe 10 seconds
12:03:25 <ynpvisitor114> I think e will have to see the same reactivation we saw for 2018.
12:04:38 <JarnoO> some new activity at the Silver Globes. Description sounds like it's plausible at least to be Silver Globe Pair
12:04:59 <SantaFe108> interesting
12:05:12 <SantaFe108> imagine if silver globe group had a geyser breakout or two
12:05:37 <SantaFe108> more geysers named silver globe (insert random word here)
12:05:52 <JarnoO> Silver Globe Vertical
12:06:04 <SantaFe108> noooooo please I beg you
12:06:06 <JarnoO> or Silver Globe Cone
12:06:19 <SantaFe108> aahhhhhhh please
12:06:25 <SantaFe108> you are killing em
12:06:25 <JarnoO> Silver Globe Sidekick would be fun as well
12:06:26 <SantaFe108> me*
12:06:27 <ryan(-14)> Silver Globe Gold
12:06:31 <SantaFe108> noooO!O!O1
12:06:44 <SantaFe108> Silver Globe Gold 2
12:06:47 <JarnoO> Silver Globe Trapezoid
12:06:54 <SantaFe108> Silver Globe Globe
12:07:17 <ryan(-14)> Flat Silver Globe
12:07:50 <SantaFe108> oh god
12:08:25 <ryan(-14)> Silver Globe is really a turtle down under there.
12:08:33 <ryan(-14)> The splashes are from the turtle kicking.
12:08:41 <JarnoO> 3C
12:08:43 <ryan(-14)> *They* dont want you to know that truth
12:08:44 <Eric> 3c
12:08:53 <ryan(-14)> 2c
12:08:54 <SantaFe108> Silver Globe Round North East Spring Spouter
12:09:06 <JarnoO> SF, want some tea with that?
12:09:26 <SantaFe108> Silver Globe's Hole Baby Spring Spouter Vent Satellite
12:11:32 <SantaFe108> No tea, Ill take Sprinkler's Indicator Satellite Pool Spring Vent Baby Hole "B" Cave Lake Cone Fountain Group
12:14:29 <SantaFe108> https://gyazo.com/f7f0e6b4bb1c0059eda4558c98ad035e
12:15:09 <SantaFe108> ot
12:15:09 <SantaFe108> ie
12:15:11 <ryan(-14)> I'm sure everyone has their favorite geyser names
12:15:33 <ryan(-14)> mine is a pair of geysers out in 100 spring plain: Sperm Geyser and Ova Geyser.
12:15:47 <JarnoO> coming to think of it - if it was indeed Silver Globe Pair that aferrara saw, it would be a record duration of about 8 minutes. Most durations per the book last only seconds
12:17:11 <SantaFe108> https://gyazo.com/f60cd6324cfa99a612b51fe5da11a78a?token=43c05dee5d64db75e91e6e2276b27cf9
12:17:40 <JarnoO> having fun in inspect element?
12:17:48 <SantaFe108> yeah :)
12:18:01 <SantaFe108> havent messed around with it since middle school lol
12:18:06 <SantaFe108> then they banned it :(
12:18:58 <JarnoO> my favorite feature name is "Great Sky Blue Hot Spring", Gem Pool's original name applied in 1872
12:19:19 <SantaFe108> wow thats a nice name
12:19:37 <SantaFe108> shame they removed it, guess they went with a gemstone theme for biscuit :p
12:19:51 <JarnoO> it's very descriptive, too, based on it's, well, sky blue color
12:21:48 <ryan(-14)> People act weird over names
12:22:26 <SantaFe108> you have something beatiful like Great Sky Blue and then you have round spring and its clone army
12:24:00 <JarnoO> and then you have Pectin and Not-Pectin in Shoshone...
12:24:10 <SantaFe108> lol
12:24:28 <ryan(-14)> New Crater, PLH, Flood, Black, Pectin/Not-Pectin, Tardy/Old Tardy, Young Faithful, and a couple others are the stupidest names ever
12:24:28 <KorbenC> That was a nice 3 mile walk :)
12:24:55 <SantaFe108> welcome back korbem
12:25:15 <SantaFe108> https://gyazo.com/f7f0e6b4bb1c0059eda4558c98ad035e
12:25:30 <SantaFe108> we were coming up with worlds worst geyser names
12:26:12 <KorbenC> SantaFe108, LMAO
12:26:27 <JarnoO> for names I really want some kind of history behind them, so I can understand the context in which it was namedd
12:26:33 <JarnoO> stupid d key
12:27:11 <SantaFe108> GL henderson's crimes against geyser naming
12:27:26 <KorbenC> worst name ever "2020" :)
12:27:38 <SantaFe108> eww
12:27:57 <SantaFe108> i still find New Thing Far Left funny
12:28:09 <SantaFe108> and Pool East and North of Twig
12:28:11 <KorbenC> lol
12:28:40 <SantaFe108> https://gyazo.com/5c0fce94811cce4c8b1803a834d9f8e5
12:28:51 <SantaFe108> grainy image
12:28:57 <KorbenC> lol
12:29:02 <JarnoO>
12:29:34 <SantaFe108> geyser memes :)
12:29:48 <SantaFe108> im still waiting for forest's bulger minor meme
12:32:01 <SantaFe108> cmon
12:32:13 <SantaFe108> delay :p
12:32:29 <JarnoO> Atlantic 20/40 (1); Eastern Pacific 0/50 (1); Central Pacific 10/10 (1), 0/10 (2)
12:32:38 <ryan(-14)> OF delay?
12:32:41 <ryan(-14)> its still early
12:33:02 <SantaFe108> you're right
12:33:12 <SantaFe108> im not paying attention that well
12:36:40 <JarnoO> Dome nearing end of series. Last interval ≤58m
12:37:00 <SantaFe108> what does it do after it ends?
12:37:17 <ryan(-14)> Typically it stops erupting.
12:37:31 <SantaFe108> :p i guess I deserved that
12:37:33 <ryan(-14)> Sometimes the series ends but the eruptions keep happening every hour or so.
12:37:36 <JarnoO> thanks, Mr. Obivious :P
12:37:54 <SantaFe108> so the eruptions just get more sparce?
12:38:00 <ryan(-14)> Its a strange geyser. Keeps erupting when not in series...
12:38:06 <ryan(-14)> No it just stops
12:38:12 <SantaFe108> o
12:38:35 <SantaFe108> hopefully when my book comes I can read up on everything
12:39:12 <ryan(-14)> dont take that book for gospel truth for modern activity. Its a great historical reference.
12:39:28 <SantaFe108> ik its 2018
12:39:34 <JarnoO> I think Dome would simply sit at low water, make a few attempts at erupting, but otherwise I'd imagine it would slowly refill over the course of hours to days
12:39:51 <JarnoO> and then sit at high water until it's time to go again
12:40:15 <SantaFe108> such a weird geyser
12:40:36 <JarnoO> but absolutely don't quote me on that. I simply wrote out what I think would be the most logical to happen
12:41:00 <SantaFe108> but also the random dormancies
12:41:09 <ryan(-14)> Could be worse
12:41:14 <ryan(-14)> could be Steamboat lol
12:41:20 <SantaFe108> oof
12:41:22 <KorbenC> I will say though, in person Jarno when you are on the BW listening to the buildup it is very quiet and then it does a huge huff (like Lion) and then the water comes
12:47:04 <KorbenC> OF looks stalled
12:47:20 <SantaFe108> ok, who broke it
12:47:31 <KorbenC> it could be in a delay 1232-....
12:47:48 <KorbenC> but that would be a long delay, for not much of any preplay, I vote stall.
12:47:52 <JarnoO> doesn't a delay end with the next preplay?
12:48:13 <KorbenC> Jarno, yes, I want paying much attention but I didnt see any other preplay since then
12:48:48 <ryan(-14)> stalls are noted by a lack of cyclical steam huffing
12:48:48 <SantaFe108> last preplay I saw was 32
12:49:00 <SantaFe108> oh
12:49:07 <SantaFe108> a little splash
12:49:10 <KorbenC> Ryan, thats why I am hesitant to call a stall
12:49:19 <KorbenC> but now I suspect delay 1232-1249
12:49:30 <ryan(-14)> preplay delays are when preplays dont triger an eruption
12:49:34 <ryan(-14)> Its a stall
12:49:54 <KorbenC> well, I didnt see the 1232 preplay either :P so I woudnt know how big it was :P
12:50:02 <KorbenC> well, its not stalled anymore
12:50:11 <ryan(-14)> doesnt need to be big
12:50:30 <KorbenC> so, Stall 1232
12:50:52 <KorbenC> maybe :)
12:51:07 <JarnoO> not on that preplay either...
12:51:10 <ryan(-14)> it was a stall
12:51:16 <ryan(-14)> this is a delay
12:51:18 <SantaFe108> 32 preplay looked a bit over 10 feet at max, im not good at estimated height though
12:51:24 <JarnoO> it was quite voluminous for preplay
12:51:27 <SantaFe108> here we go
12:51:27 <KorbenC> Delat 1251-
12:51:31 <KorbenC> Delay**
12:51:38 <JarnoO> so it wanted to go, but the bubble burst
12:51:40 <SantaFe108> noooo
12:51:41 <KorbenC> oh fun, a Stall and a Delay exciting :)
12:51:54 <Eric> haha...cool gazing hat! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q1WPXT8
12:52:13 <KorbenC> Eric, you should add OF Stall and Delay codes to GT ;)
12:52:13 <Eric> and it's on sale with coupon BWGIDGM5
12:52:19 <SantaFe108> this is the best gazing hat https://www.amazon.com/Champion-Sports-Visibility-Flexible-Yellow/dp/B0069J5CMW/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=yellow+cone&qid=1597949523&sr=8-6
12:52:23 <Eric> No such thing Coop
12:52:27 <SantaFe108> according to forest ;)
12:52:35 <KorbenC> SantaFe108, lmao
12:52:44 <KorbenC> Eric, ?
12:53:12 <Eric> If it's not on GT, it's not real :-P
12:53:23 <KorbenC> lol
12:53:37 <SantaFe108> you can put in comments?
12:53:54 <Eric> Yep, it's exactly what comments are for.
12:54:10 <JarnoO> still waiting for "S" - simultaneous - for the rare times Grand and Turban start at the same time. Have seen it at least two times now in the logs
12:54:32 <KorbenC> JarnoO, I saw it once on my trip.
12:54:34 <KorbenC> OF
12:54:45 <KorbenC> NOPE
12:54:48 <Eric> I think that is hard to tell Jarno...when grand starts, you don't really see turban.
12:54:48 <KorbenC> YUP
12:54:50 <JarnoO> delay end there
12:54:56 <KorbenC> NOPE
12:55:01 <Eric> steam delay on OF
12:55:09 <KorbenC> 2nd delay?
12:55:11 <Eric> penalty box!
12:55:13 <JarnoO> might be delay start with that preplay
12:55:25 <SantaFe108> one more delay and OF becomes a silver globe
12:55:48 <JarnoO> 5 minutes to go and OF at 2 hours
12:55:52 <JarnoO> first one in a while
12:55:56 <Eric> Nice!
12:56:08 <SantaFe108> switching to mible for lunch
12:56:11 <Eric> come on OF....hit 121m
12:56:22 <KorbenC> so right now we are at "stall 1232-1249. Delay 1251-1254. Delay 1254-"
12:56:40 <Eric> what about the pause?
12:56:46 <SantaFe108> this OF is the epitome of 2020
12:56:54 <JarnoO> 1251 to 1254 might actually not be a delay - doesn't preplay usually occur at 1½ to 3 minutes?
12:57:13 <KorbenC> JarnoO, it was a delay. It had me reaching to GT to enter a start :)
12:57:13 <Eric> and the halt and adjourn
12:57:48 <KorbenC> it was about the same sized delay as that last one there at 1254, with 2 follow ups right after about a second apart that also looked good to starti
12:58:18 <KorbenC> 3 minutes to go
12:58:23 <JarnoO> not every big preplay automatically leads to a delay, know that
12:58:23 <KorbenC> 2 minutes**
12:58:32 <KorbenC> Jarno, yes, I know :)
12:58:36 <KorbenC> Even Ryan called delay
12:58:53 <JarnoO> peeps be leavin' already
12:59:10 <KorbenC> end delay
12:59:24 <SantaFe108 mobi> if people can't wait for a delayed OF what are they doing here
12:59:32 <KorbenC> 1h 59 minutes :)
13:00:05 <Eric> 2h!
13:00:05 <KorbenC> JO/RM, Ill take this OF
13:00:10 <KorbenC> YAY
13:00:35 <Eric> The crowd grows
13:00:41 <Eric> OF indicator totally full
13:00:43 <Eric> OF!
13:00:44 <KorbenC> OF
13:00:44 <Eric> .
13:00:45 <Eric> .
13:01:00 <Eric> couldn't make it to 121m :-(
13:01:04 <KorbenC> lets hope its not a minor :P
13:01:27 <JarnoO> OF now gets dings too? Tsk
13:01:33 <Eric> looks like a minor
13:01:44 <Eric> at 120m interval it does :-D
13:02:01 <SantaFe108 mobi> really?? that would be cool
13:02:17 <JarnoO> attempt short
13:02:25 <KorbenC> no. nsf aoga
13:02:28 <Eric> it can't decide
13:02:28 <JarnoO> short
13:02:30 <KorbenC> no, bad OF*
13:02:32 <KorbenC> Short!
13:02:34 <KorbenC> OMFG
13:02:45 <Eric> wow...most disappointing OF ever :-P
13:02:52 <SantaFe108 mobi> that's it, rename it to old silver globe.
13:03:01 <Eric> it's dead
13:03:02 <Kevin L™ 🌵> :)
13:03:03 <Eric> jim
13:03:11 <KorbenC> alto of delays, nice Korben. menat to be alot :)
13:03:19 <SantaFe108 mobi> Friendship ended with old faithful, Sprinkler is new best friend
13:03:28 <Chancellor> lots of people leaving ........ disappointed
13:03:41 <Chancellor> We drove 2500 miles for that ??
13:03:48 <Eric> Well, that was a long wait for a short water burst
13:03:52 <Eric> Yep
13:04:01 <JarnoO> when the water drops below the cone within 2 minutes, it'll be a short. I've never seen it recover from that
13:04:12 <KorbenC> I messed up the minutes too :)
13:04:18 <Eric> Will be interesting if next OF is huge
13:04:23 <Eric> I saw that
13:04:32 <Eric> recording failure
13:04:43 <JarnoO> I've seen it come within only a few feet of water out of sight, but it was still able to recover
13:05:01 <Eric> Interesting Jarno
13:05:13 <Eric> castle playing like a minor
13:06:04 <KorbenC> EVIL OF :)
13:06:59 <JarnoO> wow... Even Daisy's interval is short than OF's
13:07:06 <KorbenC> lol
13:07:26 <JarnoO> not sure I would imagine thinking that a few years ago
13:09:14 <Eric> We have some turban times now too
13:09:31 <Eric> could have a grand start any moment
13:10:10 <JarnoO> I really hope we'll see a Daisy lasting over 4 minutes. Then I would keep the cam on Daisy regardless of what happens elsewhere in the basin
13:10:22 <KorbenC> Jarno, probabilitys form 3 different storms all in the same wind speed possibilities! https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at4+shtml/173426.shtml?tswind120#contents
13:10:51 <KorbenC> I am going to go make some lunch
13:11:05 <Eric> me too
13:11:23 <Eric> Lion
13:11:26 <Eric> per GT
13:13:23 <JarnoO> saw that
13:14:16 <JarnoO> Turban 1309
13:14:36 <SantaFe108 mobi> grand better multi burst or something to make up for OF horrid performance
13:19:29 <ryan(-14)> to kill a french vampire you need to drive a baguette through its heart. Sounds easy but the process is painstaking.
13:20:11 <JarnoO> that's quite the dad joke there
13:24:00 <ryan(-14)> oh no, I will unleash the ultimate dad joke in due time
13:24:42 <KorbenC> Ive got my lunch and im ready for Grand :)
13:26:30 <SantaFe108> back
13:27:01 <KorbenC> hey!
13:27:12 <KorbenC> Ryan, got any caving trips planned this weekend?
13:28:08 <JarnoO> Grand
13:28:12 <KorbenC> .
13:28:12 <KorbenC> .
13:28:13 <KorbenC> .
13:28:17 <ryan(-14)> Probably not. I have a good chunk of maps to draft and work on. And sleep, lots of sleep, to catch up on.
13:28:18 <KorbenC> Nice
13:28:55 <Eric> peak season crowd!
13:29:20 <SantaFe108> covid loves grnad
13:29:23 <SantaFe108> grand*
13:29:33 <Eric> I hope not
13:29:39 <ryan(-14)> Is it rainy or smokey?
13:29:42 <Eric> good wind, outdoors
13:29:45 <Eric> smoke
13:30:04 <ryan(-14)> Yall see the update on COVID testing of YNP employees?
13:30:04 <KorbenC> I have been waiting for the rain all day on the cam, lol.
13:30:23 <KorbenC> ryan(-14), that they are all still negative?
13:30:24 <ryan(-14)> Theyve done a couple thousand surveillance tests and all are negative so far
13:30:41 <ryan(-14)> oddly nice lioght on grand
13:30:57 <Estroncio> SantaFe108, didn't you mean "coivd loves grnad"?
13:30:59 <Eric> well, no positives...
13:31:01 <JarnoO> did someone order 5 Steamboat eruptions within 18 hours or so? Look at the Steamboat 24h graph
13:31:30 <SantaFe108> Estroncio, civdo olvse gnrda
13:31:54 <Estroncio> Easy for you to say
13:32:13 <JarnoO> Grotto marathon
13:33:55 <JarnoO> 6m
13:34:19 <KorbenC> incase you didnt know, yesterday there was a really really good minor, Forest send me a video and the entire time I was thinking "and how did you not start" it was TALL and THICKK SV Vetical which was sustained, and tall and thick NV Vertical to start with sustained and bouncy angled surges, and the runoff was insane. It looked like it started and hten died.
13:34:44 <SantaFe108> wow
13:34:49 <JarnoO> modern reincarnation of the Silver Bullet?
13:35:02 <KorbenC> SV looked really good throughout, it was vert to the treeline, NV just never picked up the slack.
13:35:03 <SantaFe108> Silver Bullet at knott's?
13:35:06 <KorbenC> Jarno, no.
13:35:51 <Estroncio> approx ... 8 ... minutes ...
13:35:56 <JarnoO> 8m
13:36:00 <KorbenC> Silver bullets were/have been described as "300ft for a second and then done", there was an aurgument after NV and SV had a concerted start with vertical to the treelines and then died, if we didnt call that a Silver Bullet, then that wasnt.
13:36:05 <Estroncio>
13:36:16 <SantaFe108> oh
13:36:37 <SantaFe108> silver bullet at knott's is a fun ride
13:37:02 <JarnoO> Korben, that's why I said "modern reincarnation", not actually that it would be a "Silver Bullet"
13:37:16 <JarnoO> well, a silver bullet in the traditional sense
13:37:19 <KorbenC> if I can find the email ill take a screen shot
13:37:42 <ryan(-14)> Silver bullets were more like what we see with restarts today
13:38:00 <JarnoO> 10m
13:38:05 <SantaFe108> wifi cutout
13:38:06 <SantaFe108> and im back
13:38:19 <JarnoO> looks like one and done
13:38:38 <Estroncio> Watching this Grand on my big screen, looks good despite the haze
13:38:55 <KorbenC> Jarno, I dont think Silver Bullet, it wasnt very bullety, think a really large OF preplay kind of bounce, very strong and lots of energy but not a "water whistle"
13:39:31 <JarnoO> ah okay
13:39:44 <SantaFe108> was forest's minor kinda like this? https://gyazo.com/34860d14c71f18a0f034a6daa355ea9f
13:39:48 <JarnoO> appears Q
13:39:56 <SantaFe108> pretty thick
13:39:59 <KorbenC> SantaFe108, ish
13:40:08 <SantaFe108> but with less NV?
13:40:11 <ryan(-14)> Those kinds of minors are heart attack inducing.
13:40:27 <ryan(-14)> The one I saw left me woozy when it died, I thought I was going to pass out.
13:40:35 <SantaFe108> ryan(-14), that screenshot was right before july 19th major kicked off
13:40:58 <ryan(-14)> Yup, thats about what I saw except it died
13:41:11 <SantaFe108> :p steamboat trickery
13:41:18 <KorbenC> Im asking Forest if I can upload the second part of the video which has the really tall SV
13:41:20 <ryan(-14)> Yeah we called the start and everything.
13:41:31 <SantaFe108> my Sb was very lucky
13:41:40 <SantaFe108> I got there like 30-40 minutes before
13:41:47 <KorbenC> SF, looked like the start in 2019, :) but not quite what Forest saw
13:42:02 <JarnoO> G1Q | 10m20s
13:42:22 <ryan(-14)> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xFwfCJe0Tc this is a well done video if you havent seen it
13:42:56 <KorbenC> When I link the video here 1st off, it was FOrest filming, and most of the NV vert took place right before it.
13:43:07 <ynpvisitor45> Ryan, do you know you can edit FB posts? Maybe having 113 instead of 112?
13:43:57 <ryan(-14)> 45, eh, I left it. Unique typo to make I think.
13:44:03 <ryan(-14)> worth the posterity.

13:44:26 <ynpvisitor45> I can think of another word for it

13:44:51 <SantaFe108> you cant see me though
13:45:05 <ryan(-14)> 45, call it what you want. Thats more a reflection of you than me.
13:45:17 <ynpvisitor45> Or not
13:45:37 <KorbenC> I would leave it
13:45:58 <KorbenC> I think its really funny, and cool that we are making mistakes typing the wrong number of 100+ eruptions, its a relic :)
13:46:14 <ryan(-14)> I left a comment correcting it. 45's just being a...
13:46:19 <ryan(-14)> I can think of a word for it ;)
13:46:25 <SantaFe108> silver globe
13:46:31 <SantaFe108> there
13:46:56 <ryan(-14)> Thats a big effing minor eruption
13:47:09 <SantaFe108> where?
13:47:11 <ryan(-14)> Thats pants-crap-inducing big... wow
13:47:23 <SantaFe108> in my pic?
13:47:28 <KorbenC> SantaFe108, look at my Imgur pic
13:47:36 <KorbenC> SF, https://imgur.com/a/DJymzRR
13:48:05 <KorbenC> that minor is called, I erupted, and then I decided not too.
13:48:38 <SantaFe108> Thats insane that it didn't trigger a major
13:48:41 <SantaFe108> wow...
13:48:45 <JarnoO> short of breath minor?
13:48:49 <KorbenC> some people described it as "imagine an F&M lock, and then it just suddenly died"
13:49:10 <SantaFe108> that looked like a guarenteed major
13:49:20 <SantaFe108> thick, tall, becoming verticle
13:49:23 <KorbenC> that minor was bigger, and longer than the minor that send it off for me in 2019, and larger than what made it do its thing when I was in the parking lot this year
13:49:29 <ryan(-14)> The only thing I will say is that it wasnt vertical
13:49:34 <KorbenC> (2019 I was on platform, 2020 I was in parking lot)
13:49:37 <ryan(-14)> NV was too angled, but wow. No thats not a lock.
13:49:40 <KorbenC> Ryan, it was. Just not in that video.
13:49:44 <ryan(-14)> Thats like East Vent starting and then dying.
13:49:51 <ryan(-14)> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsO0opryNDk also this
13:50:00 <SantaFe108> that minor was way more violent then all the minors on the 19th
13:50:11 <KorbenC> Ryan, NV started of for 30 seconds in thick vertical the size of what SV was doing there is the way he discrived it
13:50:30 <ryan(-14)> ah
13:52:14 <KorbenC> we joked around saying (if I was SB) "oh, I feel ready, I see CB and BBEV and Craig, I think ill be nice and let them see me again. (looks left) Forest is here, abort, about, full about, shut down all engines, help! Im trying to abort but I cant, ah, that was a close one, phew" :)
13:52:16 <ryan(-14)> So what should I put tomorrow on the FB page?
13:52:52 <ryan(-14)> Which typo? Curious how many people it will bother enough to say something here about it....
13:52:56 <KorbenC> Second Annual Gazer Gripe?
13:53:06 <ryan(-14)> Annual?
13:53:13 <ryan(-14)> Weekly at worst

13:54:08 <ryan(-14)> ooh yeah,. something click baitey
13:54:10 <SantaFe108> I should've come with forest since it seemed to like me on the 19th

14:41:11 <SantaFe108> bye forsst
14:41:24 <SantaFe108> I dont see his yellow
14:41:49 <JarnoO> Lion
14:42:07 <JarnoO> minor so far
14:42:11 <KorbenC> minor
14:42:43 <JarnoO> minor
14:43:21 <JarnoO> also makes next Lion @ 1501±10m if series continues
14:50:37 <SantaFe108> book still not ehre yet
14:50:56 <JarnoO> didn't you say 9PM?
14:51:06 <JarnoO> or did I misread A for P?
14:51:51 <SantaFe108> by 9pm
14:51:57 <SantaFe108> 9pm is the maximum time
14:52:10 <JarnoO> oh, then you still have some time to go
14:52:15 <SantaFe108> yeah
14:52:21 <SantaFe108> why is everything pinging
14:57:08 <JarnoO> Daisy soon
14:57:11 <JarnoO> if not ie already
14:57:57 <JarnoO> I think we're on time. Looks a bit steamy
14:58:02 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Van hardly see it
14:58:58 <LindaG> 🤠
14:59:04 <JarnoO> afternoon Linda
14:59:05 <SantaFe108> hello linga
14:59:29 <LindaG> 🙂 hi
14:59:38 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Hi
14:59:44 <LindaG> Kevin L™ 🌵, hi
15:02:39 <LindaG> Kevin L™ 🌵, anymore sailboat fuel?
15:03:20 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Not today but a couple of warbonnets.
15:03:33 <LindaG> Kevin L™ 🌵, oh nice
15:06:27 <Eric> Russell has been getting all the gizmos today!
15:06:44 <SantaFe108> just got an alert about my book
15:06:51 <SantaFe108> delayed 1-2 days
15:07:02 <LindaG> JarnoO, hi
15:07:03 <JarnoO> typical
15:07:07 <LindaG> SantaFe108, hi
15:07:12 <KorbenC> SantaFe108, normal
15:07:16 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Give you time to read all those railroad rules.
15:07:40 <Eric> Donde esta margarita?
15:08:38 <JarnoO> I'd like me some pizza margherita, if that's what you're asking
15:08:41 <SantaFe108> Kevin L™ 🌵, lol true
15:09:06 <Eric> margarita means Daisy in spanish
15:09:20 <JarnoO> oh
15:09:59 <Eric> donde esta means, where is
15:11:05 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Doyou know how you can tell if a train just went past?
15:11:17 <JarnoO> there's the flower
15:11:49 <JarnoO> actually, should've been
15:12:10 <Eric> Daisy 20?
15:12:17 <JarnoO> how did I type /getvideo instead of /gts?
15:12:29 <Eric> jajaja
15:12:58 <JarnoO> I didn't question my typing, since typing both commands takes about equally long
15:13:24 <KorbenC> :)
15:13:26 <JarnoO> apparantly I can type them within a second :D
15:13:34 <LETS GO CAPS> afternoon/evening
15:13:39 <LETS GO CAPS> not a very nice view
15:13:40 <JarnoO> afternoon Graham
15:14:03 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Going for 2 in a row tonknight Graham?
15:14:16 <LETS GO CAPS> 2 of the 4 we need :)
15:14:23 <LETS GO CAPS> is it smoky?
15:14:35 <JarnoO> yep, you can thank Idaho for that most likely
15:14:48 <LETS GO CAPS> ewww
15:15:12 <LETS GO CAPS> lets hope for some rain
15:15:47 <SantaFe108> graham did you hear about fluffy's bad behavior
15:16:29 <KorbenC> Graham, thats smoke not Rain I hope you know :)
15:16:30 <LETS GO CAPS> nope
15:16:49 <LETS GO CAPS> yeah, JarnoO told me
15:17:05 <JarnoO> OF did a short after 2 hours of procrastinating and then did a 53m interval
15:17:48 <LETS GO CAPS> nice
15:18:03 <LETS GO CAPS> maybe we will have to start watching for OF to go dormant
15:18:23 <LETS GO CAPS> Ryan can probably predict its dormancy :)
15:18:23 <JarnoO> timed Daisy within 3 seconds of the in-basin time. Very good
15:18:33 <LETS GO CAPS> thats nasty air
15:18:42 <SantaFe108> congratulations! we will name another geyser silver globe in your honor
15:19:03 <JarnoO> Silver Globe Hourglass?
15:19:17 <SantaFe108> why not
15:20:07 <KorbenC> you wnat this OF Jarno?
15:22:20 <JarnoO> sure, Korben
15:22:23 <KorbenC> Spa 1518
15:22:30 <SantaFe108> :D
15:22:35 <KorbenC> good luck, maybe it will be nice to you :)
15:23:23 <JarnoO> I already expect a longer interval because the previous eruption was the first after a short
15:23:52 <LETS GO CAPS> at least Forest got Churn today. did he enjoy the wait at SB yesterday or was it stormy?
15:23:54 <Kevin L™ 🌵> And it is Thursday with smoke in the air
15:24:42 <LETS GO CAPS> that rain yesterday shoud have gotten rid of the smoke
15:24:50 <ynpvisitor37> Smoke will be in basin for weeks. The CA fire situation will not change anytime soon
15:24:51 <LETS GO CAPS> guess it didnt rain in the right place
15:25:00 <ynpvisitor37> Duh
15:25:21 <LETS GO CAPS> is thi from the CA fires or ID?
15:25:31 <LETS GO CAPS> or both
15:25:31 <ynpvisitor37> Basin is in direct line
15:26:14 <ynpvisitor37> Idaho fires aren’t big enough, though I’m sure they add to it. Check a fire map
15:34:31 <Eric> Bear Creek fire is 8k acres and contributing to this, plus another fire in Idaho further down.
15:35:04 <LindaG> This is smoke? I thought it was fog.
15:35:08 <LETS GO CAPS> 541k acres in CA tho
15:35:33 <Eric> find the maps Jimbo posted earlier...I think it's more likely the idaho fires
15:35:44 <Eric> NASA has good sat images each day
15:36:19 <SantaFe108> 204,481 acres burned in CA so far
15:36:23 <SantaFe108> total
15:36:52 <LindaG> When I was there in 2017 we went to see the tetons and they were covered up by smoke from glacier
15:37:01 <JarnoO> TD Thirteen 30kt, TD Fourteen 30kt, TS Genevieve 60kt
15:37:09 <LindaG> It was weird
15:37:16 <LETS GO CAPS> we need the TS to go over to CA
15:37:42 <KorbenC> Ill work on it :)
15:38:08 <LETS GO CAPS> 541,657 in active fires now in CA
15:38:29 <JarnoO> Genevieve is moving northwestwards, so it appears no rain for CA
15:39:06 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Wimpy OF
15:39:49 <LETS GO CAPS> it shorted again
15:40:05 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Wow
15:40:11 <KorbenC> Evil Little Geyser.
15:40:30 <KorbenC> I am going to hurt it :)
15:41:18 <LETS GO CAPS> we like variety in geysers
15:41:24 <Eric> I had a friend who was in tetons last weekend at sunset lake in the backcountry camping. They woke up in the middle of the night to a fire across the lake!
15:41:28 <LETS GO CAPS> ug ... ant see Artie
15:42:04 <LETS GO CAPS> theres a little bit of rain over ID
15:42:15 <Eric> They woke up every backpacker in the area in the middle of the night and bucket brigaded the fire out from un uphill stream with their bear canisters!
15:42:46 <Eric> 8 of them got the fire tamped down to give a helicopter enough time to come in and dump.
15:43:12 <Eric> Pretty crazy to wake up in the middle of nowhere to fire!
15:43:15 <Eric> Dangerous too
15:43:39 <LETS GO CAPS> was it a camper fire or lightning?
15:44:04 <Eric> probably lightning smoldering...it was on a steep embankment.
15:44:08 <SantaFe108> lc
15:44:14 <SantaFe108> ie
15:44:22 <Eric> lightning can strike and then take time before it builds to a fire.
15:44:58 <Eric> dry lightning is soooo dangerous in the wilderness
15:51:03 <JarnoO> oh hi Dome
15:51:43 <SantaFe108> dome doesnt mind the smoke :)
15:52:15 <ynpvisitor7> Hey it’s me forest
15:52:27 <KorbenC> hey, where are you?
15:52:33 <JarnoO> hi again Forest
15:52:37 <SantaFe108> hi forest!
15:52:43 <ynpvisitor7> Korben is that a question?
15:52:52 <SantaFe108> old faithful is becoming korben's most hated geyser
15:52:57 <Eric> You know if you just changed your name once, it would probably stay forest the whole time :-P
15:52:59 <KorbenC> 7, yes :D
15:53:03 <ynpvisitor7> Where do you think I am
15:53:09 <Eric> Bulger!
15:53:12 <SantaFe108> sawmill group
15:53:12 <KorbenC> Churn?
15:53:13 <Eric> or Churn!
15:53:16 <Eric> or Pump!
15:53:19 <JarnoO> Dome's interval appears to be a closed ≤1h27m interval
15:53:30 <Eric> wow...long
15:53:31 <SantaFe108> clearly sprinkler, smh
15:53:44 <ynpvisitor7> Wow you guys don’t know me at all... I am at grotto... JK of course I am at sawmill
15:53:55 <SantaFe108> lol hows the water levels
15:55:03 <ynpvisitor7> High but churn is extremely close to the third runoff channel. Like so close I think only cohesion forces is preventing it when it goes up. (If I used cohesion right)
15:55:34 <JarnoO> this 1550ie eruption may be one of the last of the series, if not the last. I've only ever seen intervals of a series coming to a close once, and these intervals appear to be following that of the other series ending
15:55:43 <ynpvisitor7> Just had a bulger and OT is ie.
15:58:20 <KorbenC> more storms at my house :D
15:58:57 <ynpvisitor7> Nice
15:59:04 <ynpvisitor7> Korben how is the weather looking here? I can’t check radar
15:59:27 <SantaFe108> ynpvisitor7, what is the third runoff channel? im not familiar with how churn workls
15:59:29 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Controls released.
15:59:46 <KorbenC> 7, smoky
15:59:57 <ynpvisitor7> Wow thanks korben
16:00:16 <LETS GO CAPS> I have seen DOme stretch out to an hour on day 3 - and we are less than 2 days now
16:00:45 <ynpvisitor7> SF to answer your question that is the runoff Channel that we look at to see if churn has a chance of erupting
16:00:45 <LETS GO CAPS> coud be single of double interval
16:01:04 <ynpvisitor7> It flows tword bulger and in order to have a churn it has to be running off through that channel
16:01:17 <SantaFe108> oh ok
16:01:28 <ynpvisitor7> You also have to have sawmill below the orange line
16:01:38 <KorbenC> and a low Spasmodi
16:01:40 <KorbenC> c
16:01:56 <SantaFe108> I knew about sawmill and spas, not the runoff
16:02:18 <ynpvisitor7> Korben besides Smokey. Is there any rain?
16:02:40 <KorbenC> Isolated
16:02:52 <SantaFe108> oh I looked on maps and im guessing 3rd channel is the one that flows north into bulgers?
16:03:04 <ynpvisitor7> Any coming tword the ugb?
16:03:18 <LETS GO CAPS> you need runoff in all three runoff channels at Churn to have a chance. that usually only happens when Spas i below overflow
16:03:21 <ynpvisitor7> Sorta
16:03:30 <ynpvisitor7> Yes
16:03:49 <ynpvisitor7> But generally the first 2 are easy to get imo
16:03:54 <SantaFe108> spas is such a resource waster
16:03:54 <LETS GO CAPS> I dont think Sawmill water level is a driver, but Spas is
16:03:56 <KorbenC> 7, maybe :) there is the possibility of one cell with about 22DBZ heading oyur way, but it looks mixed at best
16:04:50 <ynpvisitor7> Sounds good Korben. Thanks
16:04:50 <ynpvisitor7> Well the water level in spas mimics sawmill from my observations
16:05:06 <KorbenC> Graham, Spas and Saw are connected
16:05:50 <KorbenC> so when Sawmill is dropping, Spas will drop in a bit, and then Churn will increase barring a "stall" which will cause Churn to stay the same, and Sawmill to drop just too the oragne line and OT to splash alot
16:05:57 <LETS GO CAPS> well they are .... but its Spas being below overflow that used to trgger Churns chance, not necessarily Sawmill level
16:06:06 <LETS GO CAPS> but Sawmill water would drop too
16:06:36 <Eric> It's like the whole state of california is on fire - https://go.nasa.gov/3l3xE6C
16:06:37 <KorbenC> Sawmill doesnt seem to have a major effect on Churn, but it seems a good indicator of Spas level
16:06:51 <Eric> I guess the smoke is mainly California
16:06:55 <SantaFe108> do any of the sawmill group geysers besides spas and sawmill affect churn?
16:07:26 <KorbenC> and in theory if Dropping water in Saw=Dropping water is Spas, and then Dropping water in Spas=Rising level and chancei n Churn then Dropping water in Saw=Rising chance in Churn :)
16:07:29 <Eric> You can actually see the jetstream wave in smoke.
16:08:26 <KorbenC> SF, not from my things, because Tardy is semi-variable, OT and Bulger seem connected, but they dont have a big effect on Churn
16:08:54 <LETS GO CAPS> Ithink Spas is controlling the water levels now
16:09:11 <SantaFe108> If bulger is more closely related to OT then why is it Grand Group
16:09:15 <LETS GO CAPS> it used to be that when Sawmill stopped erupting you could see water leel changes ... but that doesnt happen now
16:09:24 <LETS GO CAPS> so its Sas activity that controls the group
16:09:26 <SantaFe108> unless they base groups on just general location disregarding connections
16:09:39 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Sailboat fuel Linda
16:09:39 <KorbenC> It does seem that that Graham
16:09:44 <LETS GO CAPS> maybe Sawmill drops before Spas now .. not sure
16:10:15 <KorbenC> LETS GO CAPS, from the 9 observed drops this year, it was about 11 minutes after the water level BEGAN dropping that Spas began to drop.
16:10:43 <LETS GO CAPS> but really all you need to check is if Churn is overflowing in all three channels for a chance
16:11:05 <KorbenC> and the Spas indicator pool (the purple one) is a pretty clear too :)
16:11:29 <ynpvisitor7> Yup.
16:11:57 <LETS GO CAPS> ok ...... youcan see Spas water level dropping too. i will take your word for it. still not worth waiting for Churn if its not overflowing
16:12:02 <ynpvisitor7> I am essentially waiting for water levels to drop
16:12:16 <KorbenC> agreed G
16:12:48 <SantaFe108> Does solitary erupt or do people not bother walking up there to capture it
16:12:53 <ynpvisitor7> The one earlier started overflow when the water levels started to drop. But if they drop and no overflow then no chance
16:13:03 <ynpvisitor7> It does
16:13:04 <LETS GO CAPS> when Sawmill was active, as soon as Spas stopped/dropped, that was when Churn had its chance to go right away. then it was already overflowing and water levels were high everywhere
16:13:04 <LETS GO CAPS> rules have changed too
16:13:18 <KorbenC> anotehr thing I have noticed, once the water levels drop they had do a hard (quick) drop, or a soft (slow) drop, a quick drop tends to cause the larger increases in Churn
16:13:23 <LETS GO CAPS> i would go somewhere else then #7
16:13:58 <ynpvisitor7> Wdym LETS GO CAPS,
16:14:11 <SantaFe108> man I love wooden railing geyser
16:14:48 <SantaFe108> forest, is it hard to breath with all this smoke?
16:15:01 <Eric> yuck...getting thicker!
16:15:15 <ynpvisitor7> Umm not really
16:15:27 <ynpvisitor7> It is maybe a tiny bit
16:16:18 <SantaFe108> delted teakeptle
16:17:14 <ynpvisitor7> Hey SF. You are the expert here. What are the durations of sprinkler?
16:17:31 <SantaFe108> 20-30 minutes iirc
16:17:50 <ynpvisitor7> Interesting ok
16:17:59 <SantaFe108> i need to read up on it more
16:18:11 <SantaFe108> but from my observations and what ive seen on the internet
16:18:22 <ynpvisitor7> Ok I just figured you are the expert :)
16:18:44 <SantaFe108> very flattering
16:19:21 <Eric> He has probably called it on the radio more than anyone, ever!
16:19:33 <SantaFe108> lol
16:19:36 <ynpvisitor7> I think water is dropping
16:19:41 <ynpvisitor7> LOL
16:20:08 <SantaFe108> from what i've heard it can also have double eruptions where it will erupt for 20-30 minutes and double power and erupt for another 20-30 mins
16:20:26 <ynpvisitor7> Ok
16:21:04 <SantaFe108> and it has the rare sprinkler B geyser
16:21:33 <SantaFe108> or "river sprinkler" jarno said sometimes people call it iirc
16:21:54 <ynpvisitor7> Shoot brb
16:21:57 <ynpvisitor7> I need to go do something
16:22:07 <SantaFe108> cya forest gl
16:22:07 <JarnoO> cya Forest
16:22:42 <SantaFe108> eric, if we had the coords of sprinkler b geyser/river sprinkler, could it be added to gt map?
16:23:09 <SantaFe108> or is not enough known about it
16:25:41 <ynpvisitor7> Ok I am back. That was a real scare
16:25:56 <KorbenC> what? everything OK>
16:26:01 <JarnoO> per the book on Sprinkler: "A subsidiary vent at river level, known as River Sprinkler, simultaneously erupts a foot or two high when not drowned by the river.". To me that means that it could simply be added in a comment in Sprinkler's entry if River Sprinkler is also active
16:26:21 <ynpvisitor7> Yea my mom just never told me she got to spa so I started to panic
16:26:43 <KorbenC>
16:26:44 <ynpvisitor7> But then I got ahold of her
16:26:46 <SantaFe108> JarnoO, makes sense if they count it as a vent thats part of sprinkler
16:27:03 <JarnoO> if it starts having independent eruptions of Sprinkler, then it might be worth adding it to GT, but otherwise... I mean, I'm not for it, but not against it either
16:27:54 <SantaFe108> how it's described makes it seem an extension of Sprinkler and not independant
16:29:19 <ynpvisitor7> It is really windy here
16:29:37 <SantaFe108> i see grotto's steam being wisped away
16:29:42 <SantaFe108> looks windy
16:30:07 <ynpvisitor7> My hat has been almost blown off many times
16:30:14 <SantaFe108> uh oh
16:30:24 <SantaFe108> maybe you should put on the yellow cone
16:30:25 <JarnoO> might want to take it off then
16:30:33 <ynpvisitor7> LMAO
16:30:48 <ynpvisitor7> No It goes around my neck
16:31:15 <ynpvisitor7> So if it falls off it goes around my neck. Almost fall off is a bit of an over exaggeration
16:31:53 <SantaFe108> forest's hat major eruption off his head
16:32:24 <ynpvisitor7> Lol 😆
16:32:31 <JarnoO> Dome
16:33:51 <ynpvisitor7> It is quite smoggy here
16:34:12 <ynpvisitor7> I can’t see the clouds except in like a 1 mile radius
16:34:19 <LindaG> Forest did you see SB?
16:34:30 <Eric> Is that the yellow cone hat?
16:34:31 <ynpvisitor7> Maybe less
16:34:41 <ynpvisitor7> Of course not.
16:34:49 <ynpvisitor7> I was asleep
16:34:52 <KorbenC> I dont think he wanted to wait overnight :)
16:34:58 <ynpvisitor7> It hates me :)
16:35:01 <KorbenC> and he missed hte one on the 14th right?
16:35:05 <SantaFe108> from when were coming up with new silver globe geysers https://gyazo.com/8ca51e062c135c2cde846f5038f9cc2c
16:35:05 <LindaG> Ah wise choice
16:35:28 <ynpvisitor7> Korben said he shared with you the woohoo minor. Proof steamboat hates meZ
16:35:34 <Eric> So what are peoples thoughts on the release of genetically modified mosquitoes into florida?
16:35:58 <LindaG> Eric, I think humans are nuts
16:35:59 <Eric> I am curious how it will affect florida bird population
16:36:01 <SantaFe108> forest, I shouldve come with you since SB erupted in 30 minutes when I arrived
16:36:13 <Eric> Which pretty much affects the entire food chain
16:36:16 <ynpvisitor7> Oh crap river pause with main vent splashes got to go
16:36:18 <SantaFe108> any excuse to leave CA
16:36:33 <JarnoO> what are they genetically modified to have (or not have)?
16:36:35 <Eric> give it a minute Forest
16:36:35 <SantaFe108> please tell us what you see at F&M :) cya later
16:36:41 <Eric> see if Main splashing continues
16:36:48 <ynpvisitor7> Ok
16:36:52 <KorbenC> Forest, you have an hour before anything could happen
16:36:53 <Kat> Just another reason to move for me!
16:36:54 <SantaFe108> oh you're not elaing
16:37:02 <ynpvisitor7> I mean nothing is happening here
16:37:08 <Eric> Your fast, you should have plenty of time if it really goes into lock
16:37:12 <ynpvisitor7> Sawmill is staying high
16:37:22 <LindaG> Kat, hi
16:37:39 <ynpvisitor7> Umm you would think but with a 30 pound pack and smog it may be a bit hard
16:37:46 <Eric> I believe they are modified to not breed Jarno
16:38:04 <ynpvisitor7> For now :)
16:38:30 <SantaFe108> is f&m attempting a cycle?
16:39:06 <ynpvisitor7> No idea
16:39:08 <SantaFe108> OF delay?
16:39:14 <SantaFe108> preplay just died
16:39:24 <Eric> Only female mosquitoes bite humans because they need blood to produce eggs. So the plan is to release the male, modified mosquitoes who will then hopefully breed with wild female mosquitoes. However the males carry a protein that will kill off any female offspring before they reach mature biting age. Males, which only feed on nectar, will survive and pass on the genes.
16:39:38 <KorbenC> SantaFe108, last time you said that it died :)
16:39:50 <ynpvisitor7> Bulger
16:40:02 <SantaFe108> guess I cursed OF
16:40:27 <Eric> Almost can't see lake from the cam now
16:41:04 <Eric> wow...53m on after that weird long interval short
16:41:08 <ynpvisitor7> River is on had a few good main vent splashes
16:41:19 <JarnoO> hm, that's pretty stupid. Might be nice now to have less stinging insects, but I have high doubts they thought about the long-term effects
16:41:27 <Eric> Sounds nice...could develop into something
16:41:27 <SantaFe108> OF is cursed today :p
16:42:09 <Eric> Yes, the long-term effects seem like they could be very negative
16:42:13 <SantaFe108> end of delay? another splash
16:42:15 <SantaFe108> brb
16:43:28 <SantaFe108> back
16:44:18 <KorbenC> SantaFe108, dont think it was delay
16:44:31 <SantaFe108> oh ok
16:44:39 <Eric> of ie
16:44:40 <SantaFe108> OF
16:45:54 <SantaFe108> looks like short again
16:45:55 <SantaFe108> ?
16:46:03 <SantaFe108> got low very fast
16:46:08 <ynpvisitor7> Well if I hear a lock I will be doing a naruto run down to fan and mortar for the memes 😆
16:46:17 <KorbenC> been ie for some 3 minutes already
16:46:23 <SantaFe108> really?
16:46:25 <JarnoO> regarding those mosquitos - if these GM genes pass on only slowly through the mosquito population, then there might be just about enough time for other animals to adapt. If it's too fast, I reckon there'll be a mass die-out someday. Maybe not today, but tomorrow perhaps
16:46:26 <KorbenC> 7, does it sound good?
16:46:33 <SantaFe108> my time on my computer must be wrong
16:46:34 <Eric> Yep, looks like it's going to be long
16:46:58 <Eric> who is making the calls on F&M?
16:47:04 <ynpvisitor7> Haven’t heard anything since last update
16:47:05 <ynpvisitor7> Russel
16:47:18 <Eric> ahh, good
16:47:22 <KorbenC> I still thinks its too early for post reactivation
16:47:28 <ynpvisitor7> Water draining
16:47:31 <KorbenC> Eric, were you thinking what I was thinking? :)
16:47:36 <ynpvisitor7> In sawmill group
16:47:41 <SantaFe108> good
16:47:45 <KorbenC> GO CHURN
16:48:04 <Eric> longity dongity
16:48:43 <KorbenC> Jarno, you just won an OF :) Ill tkae the nexto ne, but there is another good storm coming
16:48:48 <Eric> You must have a white vehicle to park in front of mammoth VC right now :-P
16:49:05 <ynpvisitor7> River on no more main vent splashing and bottom vent has water or something
16:49:15 <KorbenC> yuck
16:49:18 <Eric> ohh, that is not bad
16:49:26 <KorbenC> Eric, ?
16:49:33 <Eric> Nothing wrong with river pause
16:49:50 <KorbenC> Eric, no, but once River pause is done you dont want any bottom vent
16:50:03 <JarnoO> also know that F&M can switch things up with every active phase
16:50:16 <JarnoO> maybe Bottom Vent is good in this active phase
16:50:17 <KorbenC> you want a really strong energy shift from Mortar (bottom becomes ie during a river pause I think) back to Fan
16:50:19 <KorbenC> Jarno, true
16:50:46 <KorbenC> Min vent could also be a bad thing this cycle :D
16:50:49 <Eric> Sounds similar to my cycle that went last year
16:51:07 <Eric> But yes, things can change
16:51:32 <Eric> But I don't think Russell would still be calling events if he thought they looked bad.
16:51:34 <ynpvisitor7> It gets really quiet with no one hear and low water levels
16:51:48 <Eric> try being out there at 1am :-D
16:52:27 <ynpvisitor7> Also I think the most common catchphrase I have heard this trip is “tardy geyser. Must be late”
16:52:38 <KorbenC> well, I will divert to Ryan tommorow :)
16:52:52 <Eric> what are diverting to him?
16:53:11 <KorbenC> he has seen alot of those things, and he seems to know what hes talking about, so I am gonna ask him about it
16:53:36 <SantaFe108> forest are you talking about tourists who walk by and read its name?
16:53:50 <ynpvisitor7> Yup
16:53:59 <Eric> haha
16:54:05 <SantaFe108> lol
16:54:43 <ynpvisitor7> We are at orange line in sawmill
16:54:45 <ynpvisitor7> Or very close to it
16:54:58 <SantaFe108> dont forget people who read grand sign "Worlds Tallest Predictable Geyser" but forget "Predictable"
16:55:07 <Eric> I think you meant defer to Ryan Coop :-P
16:55:28 <SantaFe108> "woooaoaah is this realllly the wooorlds tallest?"
16:55:56 <ynpvisitor7> Hahahah
16:56:06 <LETS GO CAPS> Bottom vent erutions are fine
16:56:28 <Eric> Graham knows the bench
16:56:46 <LETS GO CAPS> whe theres a pause, the water level is still high in Mortar, so you often get a lot of splashing in Bottom Vent
16:57:10 <LETS GO CAPS> and sometimes it will erupt before River turns on
16:57:10 <SantaFe108> also tourists who don't know Turban from Grand and get hyped like an hour before Grand actually starts when they see the Turban cycle.
16:57:27 <LETS GO CAPS> that usually keeps River off for longer
16:57:42 <ynpvisitor7> I don’t think churn will go this one
16:58:48 <ynpvisitor7> “Angle is on. Levels don’t look great actually quite poor” per russel
16:59:40 <LETS GO CAPS> it des that
16:59:52 <LETS GO CAPS> does
17:00:12 <ynpvisitor7> I know sorta where we are in the cycle
17:00:31 <KorbenC> ynpvisitor7, your right, the cycle is done :D
17:00:50 <ynpvisitor7> Yup
17:00:51 <ynpvisitor7> :)
17:01:16 <ynpvisitor7> I don’t think churn will be a thing right now
17:01:22 <ynpvisitor7> Doesn’t have enough juice
17:02:05 <ynpvisitor7> It looked better earlier
17:02:43 <KorbenC> big storm coming my way Forest, just measured 59 MPH wind gust, NWS plans to issue a STW
17:03:07 <ynpvisitor7> Ok...
17:03:16 <ynpvisitor7> Nice have fun and don’t die :)
17:08:20 <SantaFe108> dopsby
17:08:26 <SantaFe108> daisy*
17:08:36 <KorbenC> woah!
17:08:40 <KorbenC> Hail core!!!!!!
17:08:57 <ynpvisitor7> Ok...
17:08:59 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Wear your helmet!
17:09:03 <SantaFe108> uh oh
17:09:16 <SantaFe108> korben did I tell you about the hail in kansas on july 31
17:12:47 <JarnoO> pool between North Sister and pullout appears dry
17:12:48 <KorbenC> SantaFe108, there is big hail every july 31st :P
17:13:15 <SantaFe108> KorbenC, I was in a small flimsy barn
17:13:23 <SantaFe108> with livestock
17:13:32 <LindaG> Mug doesnt look very hot
17:13:48 <ynpvisitor7> Oh man
17:16:25 <ynpvisitor7> Water levels look poor but a small splash from upper mortar by no means a surge” per russel
17:16:55 <KorbenC> quit
17:17:00 <ynpvisitor7> Is that ok
17:17:32 <ynpvisitor7> I am thinking about heading down there because churn isn’t doing anyrhing
17:17:46 <SantaFe108> ok
17:17:59 <LindaG> Is Craig still wandering around the park?
17:18:02 <KorbenC> ynpvisitor7, what I hear splash in UM, I thing, WALK FOREST WALK
17:18:18 <SantaFe108> teleport forest teleport
17:18:38 <ynpvisitor7> Ok
17:19:11 <ynpvisitor7> I am walking
17:19:22 <ynpvisitor7> Go from naw to gooooo
17:20:08 <SantaFe108> korben do you know any good guides for F&M
17:20:20 <ynpvisitor7> This is why I want the power to transform into anything I want. If I had a super power
17:20:46 <KorbenC> There are two good ones, watching an eruption, and waiting there for a full day, lol. You can go read one of the transactions even though I forget which one
17:21:21 <SantaFe108> if only i could watch it lol
17:22:09 <ynpvisitor7> I am fast walking is that acceptable?
17:22:23 <KorbenC> no Forest ;) yes.
17:22:36 <ynpvisitor7> Oh so you want me to go Mach 1

17:25:49 <SantaFe108> I like it
17:26:10 <KorbenC> how many times has it splashed?
17:26:24 <ynpvisitor7> No idea no updates... probably will go to poop when I get there
17:26:32 <CraigC> KorbenC, tmi
17:26:43 <JarnoO> indeed, Forest, TMI
17:26:48 <CraigC> oooppsm meant, for 7
17:27:00 <ynpvisitor7> Bijou paise

17:27:22 <SantaFe108> really?
17:27:22 <CraigC> LETS GO CAPS, which smoke?
17:27:32 <SantaFe108> giant hot period would be super cool
17:27:46 <ynpvisitor7> It stoped but with the occational splash
17:28:00 <LETS GO CAPS> you cant see it through all the particulate matter?
17:28:19 <KorbenC> has it restarted yet?
17:28:32 <ynpvisitor7> Ok it is back. Yes
17:28:42 <ynpvisitor7> Very inconsistent pauses
17:28:42 <CraigC> LETS GO CAPS, oh, I hadnt even loaded to live stream.... ughhhh. On my way home, when the sun rose around Idaho Falls area, it was dark red
17:29:19 <CraigC> never had semi-clear skies until near home

17:29:50 <LETS GO CAPS> or sput
17:29:54 <CraigC> LETS GO CAPS, I called the 3am last evening
17:30:12 <CraigC> I woke this morning after 2, and refreshed until the entry
17:30:37 <LETS GO CAPS> good job. yesterday activity sounded promising
17:31:00 <CraigC> LETS GO CAPS, the runoff matched the head waters of an eruption
17:31:14 <KorbenC> any update from F&M?
17:31:21 <LETS GO CAPS> nice
17:32:25 <CraigC> well, gotta go do dishes.....laters everyone

17:38:58 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Linda, have you looked at the loop recently?
17:39:45 <LindaG> Kevin L™ 🌵, no
17:39:53 <LindaG> Anything g good?
17:39:57 <ynpvisitor7> Fan and mortar has gone to garbage no vents
17:40:33 <Kevin L™ 🌵> No
17:40:43 <LindaG> Kevin L™ 🌵, 😕
17:40:56 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Makes this cam look clear
17:40:59 <LETS GO CAPS> not garbage, just ran out of energy
17:41:39 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Sounds like me Graham
17:41:42 <LETS GO CAPS> garbage is when the vents all come on at once, or they come on in the wrong order
17:42:07 <ynpvisitor7> Well I didn’t want to use the word poop.
17:42:21 <LETS GO CAPS> which is different to regular cycles where the vents come on in order and it cycles like you expect - thats not garbage either
17:42:42 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Well it IS National Toilet Paper Day.
17:42:57 <ynpvisitor7> All vents are off
17:43:00 <LindaG> Kevin L™ 🌵, actually I did look yesterday but it was empty 😋
17:43:17 <LETS GO CAPS> look forward to reading Russels post o GT
17:43:33 <Kevin L™ 🌵> You can't even see the track now.
17:44:45 <LindaG> Kevin L™ 🌵, oh wow, I'll have to look
17:45:34 <KorbenC> is the black hole the new China?
17:46:08 <ynpvisitor7> I am going to hop off ttyl
17:46:21 <JarnoO> cya Forest
17:47:21 <LindaG> Kevin L™ 🌵, wow just looked, nasty
17:48:05 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I know where my smoke is coming from
17:56:39 <LindaG> Kevin L™ 🌵, when I was there I 2017 there was actually ash on my car in morning from fires in glacier
17:58:11 <JarnoO> interesting. On 20 July 1997 there was a Giant hot period lasting 37 minutes with Mastiff to 10 feet. No other details though :(
17:59:42 <JarnoO> at least there's some detail on that hot period. There are several which don't have anything other than time
18:02:30 <KorbenC> maj
18:04:44 <KorbenC> Perc
18:05:40 <LindaG> Yum about to eat some Jersey corn on the cob fresh from the farm
18:19:37 <SantaFe108> hello
18:20:03 <JarnoO> hi again
18:20:11 <KorbenC> I am gonna go for a nice 8 mile walk :)
18:20:18 <JarnoO> cya Korben
18:20:24 <KorbenC> IDK when I will be back :p
18:20:41 <SantaFe108> bye korb
18:32:15 <SantaFe108> so smoky
18:33:41 <JarnoO> Forest is back at it again with Bulger minors :D
18:34:00 <SantaFe108> :)
18:34:05 <SantaFe108> ooo and a rift
18:34:35 <SantaFe108> cant rift delay grand
18:35:19 <JarnoO> yes
18:35:36 <JarnoO> though historically it was much more important than now regarding delaying Grand
18:35:59 <SantaFe108> probably why the old lady at grand talked about it
18:36:19 <SantaFe108> she said it was one of her favorites, even though others complained about it delaying grand
18:38:34 <LindaG> Grand Canyon is very smoky too, been like that all week
18:38:46 <SantaFe108> :p
18:38:51 <SantaFe108> dang wildfires
18:39:24 <LindaG> Wonder where its smoke is coming from
18:40:24 <SantaFe108> heres the smoke cloud https://gyazo.com/811469c252e2f6982361f26847721db5
18:45:50 <JarnoO> this isn't a pretty sight as seen from space: https://go.nasa.gov/2EryNEb
18:47:07 <SantaFe108> so thick, crazy
18:49:05 <JarnoO> Steamboat huffing from both vents. No water, all dry. Cistern down ±1.5 feet into inner tube. Calm and opalescent steel blue, per notes just in
18:49:23 <SantaFe108> very nice
19:02:11 <SantaFe108> sprinkler still chugging
19:04:11 <LindaG> Daisy
19:04:17 <SantaFe108> :)
19:07:21 <SantaFe108> oo atomizer min
19:07:30 <SantaFe108> ddindt notice till now
19:08:37 <LindaG> Kevin train on the loop
19:08:54 <SantaFe108> :D
19:09:39 <ynpvisitor2222> It’s me forest
19:09:46 <LindaG> And you can almost see it
19:10:10 <SantaFe108> I was gonna ask if you were forest since your last ynpvisitor was 2
19:10:16 <SantaFe108> how is it out there
19:10:41 <SantaFe108> are you at grand/sawmill group?
19:10:52 <ynpvisitor2222> Oh I just spammed the 2 button for no reason
19:11:01 <SantaFe108> lol
19:11:01 <ynpvisitor2222> Yes
19:11:37 <ynpvisitor2222> Guess what another bulger minor series
19:11:40 <JarnoO> interesting... Daisy went sub-2h even with moderately strong winds. Maybe indicative of Daisy's base interval having dropped even further, maybe to 1h50m or even 1h45m. There was a 1h49m interval the other day, so that might be close to base interval
19:12:06 <JarnoO> Atomizer 1904 major quick comeback
19:12:28 <SantaFe108> we saw the 1 min bulger and jarno was like "forest in another bulger minor series" or something like that
19:12:48 <SantaFe108> not 1 minute the min bulger entry
19:12:52 <JarnoO> 18:33:41 ‹JarnoO› Forest is back at it again with Bulger minors :D
19:13:02 <SantaFe108> yes
19:13:33 <ynpvisitor2222> I have a theory about bulger series. However I need probably about 2 more weeks of nonstop sitting there
19:13:37 <ynpvisitor2222> Yup
19:14:19 <SantaFe108> how long are you in yelowstone I forgot
19:15:44 <ynpvisitor2222> Until the 22nd
19:16:01 <SantaFe108> nice
19:16:18 <SantaFe108> I hope I can spend a week in october maybe
19:16:23 <JarnoO> a Grand
19:16:26 <SantaFe108> do school in the morning, go to basin in afternoon
19:19:47 <JarnoO> Forest's favorite geyser
19:20:19 <SantaFe108> is it?
19:20:27 <SantaFe108> bulge
19:21:33 <ynpvisitor2222> No its
19:21:37 <JarnoO> why else would you sit through a minor series for quite some time?
19:21:40 <ynpvisitor2222> Churn
19:22:10 <SantaFe108> sporinkler still going
19:22:16 <SantaFe108> maybe double eruptinon
19:22:33 <SantaFe108> churn is good choice
19:23:07 <JarnoO> Hole
19:23:20 <SantaFe108> :D :D :D :D :D :D
19:23:25 <SantaFe108> run forest run!
19:23:37 <SantaFe108> hole hole hole
19:23:50 <JarnoO> appears done already
19:24:00 <SantaFe108> :(
19:24:11 <SantaFe108> we can record it for later
19:24:36 <JarnoO> I'll wait until Grand's done. Then you have three in one: Bulger, Grand and Hole
19:24:55 <SantaFe108> perfect  :D
19:25:17 <JarnoO> might even wait until Bulger's done, but that might be tricky concerning maximum video length
19:25:26 <SantaFe108> true
19:25:28 <JarnoO> Forest got Hole :)
19:25:35 <SantaFe108> :D:D:D
19:26:07 <SantaFe108> maj for dave
19:26:31 <ynpvisitor2222> I did
19:28:41 <ynpvisitor2222> That was awesome sft with grand Bulgers hole and rigt
19:29:39 <SantaFe108> yes :D
19:29:48 <JarnoO> Lion woke up
19:29:49 <SantaFe108> lion soon
19:29:59 <ynpvisitor2222> Was sprinkler going
19:30:08 <SantaFe108> yes
19:30:20 <SantaFe108> i think sprinkler mightve had a double eruption
19:30:30 <SantaFe108> seems like lion must've seen forest's hole entry and came to investigate
19:30:37 <ynpvisitor2222> The sun is blood red
19:31:17 <SantaFe108> sprinkler double erupt summoned satan?
19:31:34 <LindaG> 🙂
19:32:02 <JarnoO> Lion took long to wake up. Some 2 minutes in or so and it was finally getting going. Normally it takes about a minute to 1½
19:32:23 <ynpvisitor2222> Initial?
19:32:34 <ynpvisitor2222> Or not sure yet
19:32:35 <SantaFe108> switrhcing to mbiole for dinner
19:32:42 <JarnoO> definitely an initial, Forest
19:32:52 <ynpvisitor2222> Ok
19:33:03 <ynpvisitor2222> I don’t know lion well
19:33:08 <ynpvisitor2222> I know bulger tho lmao
19:33:28 <JarnoO> D0/G1C | 9m59s
19:33:39 <JarnoO> so much for 10 minutes sharp :D
19:34:29 <ynpvisitor2222> Just out of curiosity how do you define an initial?
19:35:40 <JarnoO> eruption length. If it's over 4 minutes and still going strong, it's an initial. Also interval plays a role and how long (or short) it takes for it to finally get going. In-series eruptions tend to start relatively quickly, whereas the initials take their sweet time
19:36:21 <ynpvisitor2222> Ok
19:37:21 <JarnoO> that's also how you can tell an initial apart from an in-series eruption without waiting four minutes. And in general, initials tend to be tall
19:38:12 <ynpvisitor2222> The sun is really spectacular
19:38:17 <ynpvisitor2222> Sounds good
19:39:30 <ynpvisitor2222> Well we are heading to west now ttyl
19:39:40 <SprinklerFe108 > cya forest
19:40:07 <ynpvisitor2222> Nice
19:40:39 <ynpvisitor2222> Nice name
19:40:49 <ynpvisitor2222> Bye
19:41:56 <SprinklerFe108 > Thanks, bye
19:45:17 <JarnoO> Next Lion @ 2048±5m if series continues. 7m28s, but took longer than usual to finally get going and in general looked weak for an initial
19:49:28 <JarnoO> actually, it's not that surprising Lion looked generally weak. Previous series had 5 eruptions, followed by only 4h47m of rest. Usually such a series results in perhaps 8 to 13 hours of rest
19:50:06 <JarnoO> must conduct further research
19:50:40 <LindaG> Bug
19:51:22 <JarnoO> though I would like to have E data for that, so that I don't accidentally assume a wrong series total
19:56:23 <SprinklerFe108 > Jsj uploaded an OT video from today
19:56:52 <JarnoO> I saw it. Nice to see it from up close
19:57:02 <SprinklerFe108 > wait no aug 4 and 6
19:57:21 <SprinklerFe108 > Still nice to have up to date videos
19:59:40 <JarnoO> that'll be a delay. Enjoy OF once it goes
20:00:57 <Jeff> Evening everyone

20:16:32 <SprinklerFe108 > although the pool is very deep because it was made in the 50s
20:16:58 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I can relate to that!
20:17:27 <SprinklerFe108 > 12' depth
20:17:34 <KorbenC> This is terrible, if SF can swim, then I might acutally have someone who can beat me in a depth hold
20:17:41 <KorbenC> 12', tahts not that bad.
20:18:35 <KorbenC> SF, you should come to CO and go the Strawberry hot springs, the colorado river pool is 25 or so ft deep, I have hit hte bottom, once :p
20:19:19 <KorbenC> even though its cold becuase its about a mile from the hot spring/semi geyser.

20:23:35 <SprinklerFe108 > I think soda springs?
20:23:45 <SprinklerFe108 > they have an artificial geyser there
