07:38:17 <Deep Blue> Looks like Sinter is ie
07:39:40 <KorbenC> Time to head to school.
07:39:49 <Forestbewithyou> Bye Korben
07:39:59 <JarnoO> morning all, cya Korben
07:40:06 <Forestbewithyou> Hi Jarno
07:40:53 <Sprinkler> JarnoO, is your university closed for the year?
07:41:51 <JarnoO> no, it's only in-person if needs be or when my group decides it's time to meet and work in-person (of course with everyone agreeing)
07:43:03 <Sprinkler> nice, so video classes from home??
07:43:23 <JarnoO> yes
07:43:39 <Sprinkler>
07:44:08 <JarnoO> allows me to sleep a whole extra hour since I don't have any travel time :)
07:44:21 <Forestbewithyou> Nice Jarno :)
07:44:39 <Sprinkler> that is a good thing :)
07:45:28 <JarnoO> Bulger ie. No idea what Churn was doing there, but it didn't look eruptive. Also some nice billowing from Oblong
07:45:59 <JarnoO> actually... may have been Churn. Steam is diminishing
07:46:09 <Forestbewithyou> Hmm
07:46:42 <JarnoO> no Churn
07:47:06 <Forestbewithyou> so probably a big boil
07:47:19 <JarnoO> at least something :)
07:47:44 <Forestbewithyou> yea
07:48:18 <Forestbewithyou> well I need to go practice my instrument.. be back in a bit
07:48:30 <JarnoO> cya Forest
08:00:15 <Lechuguilla (te> Grocket
08:16:49 <JarnoO> morning Kevin
08:16:58 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Hi
08:39:16 <Eric> Morning all
08:39:45 <JarnoO> morning Eric
08:39:54 <Eric> Hi Jarno
08:40:42 <JarnoO> uhm. Interesting notes by bbev for Cistern and Steamboat. Not sure what's meant to be in there
08:41:02 <Eric> I just read that and had the same thought
08:41:11 <JarnoO> also Aurum static?
08:41:50 <Eric> gone now
08:43:06 <Forestbewithyou> Hi Eric
08:43:48 <Mike J> Hey Forest. Earlier you said you had to go practice. What instrument do you play?
08:44:16 <Forestbewithyou> I play the oboe
08:44:24 <Forestbewithyou> and hi Mike
08:44:38 <JarnoO> N rim
08:45:13 <Eric> Hi Forest
08:45:23 <JarnoO> that looked big, but I guess everything looks big at 18°F
08:45:35 <Eric> yikes...wiper made it worse
08:45:47 <JarnoO> needs a spray I think
08:45:52 <Mike J> And good morning, Forest. That can be a tough instrument. Violin is mine.
08:46:06 <Eric> it got one...which made it get all streeky
08:46:49 <JarnoO> the spray arm no longer goes around the dome before it spins?
08:47:01 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Now it is crying.
08:52:16 <Forestbewithyou> Well I need to get going for a while.. Be back later
08:53:17 <Katie> Hi all
08:53:37 <JarnoO> morning Katie
09:00:11 <JarnoO> morning Jimbo. To America's root today I see
09:04:17 <Lechuguilla (te> Arty
09:04:43 <Lechuguilla (te> I now know why the teething baby screams
09:07:43 <302> Bulger
09:12:40 <JarnoO> wouldn't we be seeing Artemisia's eruptive by now already, especially given the temperatures? Don't see it aside from passive steam
09:13:04 <Lechuguilla (te> I thought I saw it, but I didnt enter anything until I was sure - and I am not sure haha
09:13:27 <SantaFe108> is the maple leaf linda?
09:13:38 <Americium Vespu> Yes, JarnoO. Wasn't sure if it would fit
09:14:21 <JarnoO> overnight shows Arty clearly @ 0232, which makes 0904 quite unlikely for it
09:19:00 <SantaFe108> hey Jarno I read you and korben's article it was really fun to read I liked it alot
09:20:16 <JarnoO> I was only the spellchecker :P
09:21:08 <SantaFe108> well it still contributed nevertheless
09:25:50 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Hey SantaFe, here is one of the engines I got to drive. Took it from Ely NV to McGill NV. https://www.railpictures.net/photo/749328/
09:26:16 <SantaFe108> Kevin L™ 🌵, wow what a beauty
09:26:45 <SantaFe108> how scenic is the drive?
09:27:16 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Not very. Mostly sagebrush.
09:27:33 <SantaFe108> not surprised
09:29:01 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I will try to find a picture of the area,
09:31:02 <SantaFe108> hi dave
09:31:33 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Here you are SantaFe: https://www.railpictures.net/photo/730791/
09:31:54 <Dave from B™> Morning SF108 and all others awake
09:32:14 <Kevin L™ 🌵> zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
09:32:14 <SantaFe108> Kevin L™ 🌵, beautiful view to those mountains
09:32:23 <Dave from B™> That shbould incliude everyone here as long as you give Joe and Kevin a nudge:)
09:33:20 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Here is another shot SF https://www.railpictures.net/photo/730092/
09:33:27 <SantaFe108> reminds me of some of the valleys in montana
09:33:37 <SantaFe108> wow that is spectacular
09:34:05 <302> That's awesome!
09:34:14 <Kevin L™ 🌵> That was a surprise Busch yesterday Dave. He got to enjoy it with the hometown empty stands.
09:34:51 <SantaFe108> ive found all my SB photos from july 19
09:35:17 <302> :)
09:36:19 <Dave from B™> Kevin, would have been really loud if there was a crowd. This actually REALLY hurt Kyle's chances to advance
09:37:08 <SantaFe108> I set the video of the SB beginning on july 19 as my lock screen on my phone
09:37:21 <SantaFe108> so I can see it climb to the top every day
09:39:19 <Dave from B™> nice, 108...my screenshoot is of a geyser not erupting and when it does it only goes about 6"
09:40:37 <SantaFe108> I love little geysers like that
09:42:20 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I agree Dave. Kyle is not looking good right now but given the season it was just a matter of time.
09:42:59 <Dave from B™> He has been racing well the past 4-6 weeks
09:43:18 <Dave from B™> Next race is dangerous for everyone
09:43:35 <Americium Vespu> I have to reboot (argh) I will return elementally
09:43:48 <SantaFe108> I like this picture alot, https://gyazo.com/d8ba61f8beb515901a263844fb2564de
09:43:51 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Yes. I hate restrictor plate races.
09:44:38 <SantaFe108> just realized the 1st motorman class is this weekend
09:45:09 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Don't forget that!
09:45:35 <SantaFe108> gotta do some studying!
09:45:38 <SantaFe108> at some point
09:51:17 <Eric> big depression?
09:51:43 <302> I think so
09:51:46 <Dave from B™> Morning Eric
09:58:01 <JarnoO> dinnertime
10:01:33 <Eric> Hi Dave
10:01:37 <Mario> Hi everyone
10:13:44 <Dave from B™> My computer is acting like it has a hangover
10:13:57 <Eric> Hi Mario
10:14:18 <Eric> It might have had a wild weekend Dave.
10:14:51 <Dave from B™> My Rackspace email is especially troubled this morning
10:14:53 <Eric> Pretty soon computers are going to be asking for raises :-P
10:15:12 <Dave from B™> haha
10:15:17 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Mine already does
10:15:25 <Eric> :-D
10:15:43 <Eric> I know what happens to old computers at Kevin's house!
10:16:06 <Eric> Giantess big steam
10:16:15 <Lechuguilla> Thjink we got some N rim action there
10:16:29 <Eric> Looked like it Michael
10:16:40 <Lechuguilla> huh?
10:16:49 <Dave from B™> I figured it was R
10:16:51 <Eric> ohh, maybe not Michael? :-P
10:17:03 <Lechuguilla> Google Lechuguilla, come to your own conclusions
10:17:21 <Eric> I saw teething earlier :-P
10:17:22 <Dave from B™> Sounds like a tequilla to be. How about you Eric?:D
10:17:37 <Eric> Would be a good tequila name
10:17:54 <Eric> Lechuguilla Tequila
10:18:06 <Eric> If you can't say it...stop drinking :_D
10:18:13 <Lechuguilla> No, dont ruin my dreams like this.
10:18:31 <Eric> Mission accomplished...I can go home now
10:18:56 <E> only one dream ruined per day please
10:19:00 <Lechuguilla> I dont need to associate one of my highest caving goals with my worst drinking memories haha
10:20:29 <Dave from B™> E, is that per person per day?
10:38:21 <AB> Daisy
10:44:23 <Eric> Yep, ruining one persons dreams a day is exhausting :-P
10:44:54 <Eric> But 2020 almost does it by itself...no help needed.
10:45:19 <Pro-imony> It's the opposite of antimony
10:45:38 <Eric> The opposite of antimony is ynomitna
10:45:46 <Eric> :-P
10:45:52 <Pro-imony> No, it's anti-antimony!
10:46:25 <Mike J> Sorry, for a second I thought you were saying alimony and a few chills ran up my spine
10:46:48 <Eric> It might be Phosphorus Jimbo :-P
10:47:10 <Pro-imony> Alimony is a much more expensive element
10:50:15 <Dave from B™> To which I'm glad I know nothing about!
11:01:36 <Dave from B™> Eric, if things ever calm down around here...probably this afternoon or tomorrow, I have the Grand pages from Lee's nomenclature. Some interesting Grand history.
11:02:25 <KorbenC> Lunch break :)
11:03:12 <Mario> Korben, I enjoyed reading your report on the Sawmill group in the Sput.
11:03:41 <KorbenC> thx
11:10:36 <Katie> Loose board? Anyone know why that traffic cone is there?
11:12:23 <Dave from B™> that or a hople in the bw
11:12:26 <Dave from B™> hole*
11:13:42 <Eric> Yes, they usually place cones on bad BW
11:18:22 <Eric> Our weather is perfection today!
11:18:35 <Eric> blue sky, cool and crisp
11:19:14 <Eric> I love this time of year when it's crisp in the morning and is sunny still.
11:19:17 <Dave from B™> mornings are definitely fall like
11:21:28 <Lechuguilla> I woke up on Saturday and it seemd like everything was yellow - seemingly overnight.
11:22:24 <Dave from B™> like yellow snow?:D
11:23:03 <Lechuguilla> No, yellow leaves haha
11:25:49 <Forestbewithyou> Heyo
11:25:56 <Craig M> o/
11:26:06 <Eric> Hi CraigM
11:26:17 <Craig M> hi eric
11:26:56 <Eric> Yes, mountains are turning yellow, red, orange too now...love this time of year hiking.
11:27:26 <Lechuguilla> Cave hikes aree great. You feel bad going in the cave haha
11:29:12 <SantaFe108> hi forest
11:29:23 <Forestbewithyou> Hi SF
11:31:32 <Eric> I did Lava bushwacking yesterday Ryan. It is NOT fun :-P
11:31:53 <Eric> Lot's of tiny caves, but didn't hit any longer tubes.
11:32:07 <Lechuguilla> Hard to machete through basalt.
11:32:37 <Eric> Yes and with the tubes, it's like constant up and down 20ft with trees and bushes in the way.
11:33:01 <Eric> I was happy when I could just find a clean lava flow to traverse :-D
11:34:04 <Lechuguilla> That is definitely coming up in my future.
11:34:09 <Lechuguilla> We dug open an old cave yesterday.
11:34:18 <Dave from B™> Sounds like maybe should just go hiking on a beach for a change
11:34:29 <Lechuguilla> Blowing an impressive amount of air given the weather outside.
11:34:59 <Eric> wow
11:35:23 <Eric> I am sure I was hiking on top of many caves :-D
11:36:25 <Eric> This lava area is very similar to the hawaiian flows, where Adams must have had a huge lava run and it spurted out in this area.
11:37:10 <Lechuguilla> Lava tubes can be extremely long, and deep.
11:37:26 <Lechuguilla> The ones in Hawaiii are well over 40mi long and 3,000ft deep where they run down Mauna Loa.
11:37:45 <KorbenC> Hi R?
11:38:15 <Lechuguilla> I could be wrong but I think most of the caves documented in the PNW are volcanic in origin. Solutional caves are a minority out there.
11:38:33 <Lechuguilla> They don't become a majority until you reach Idaho to the east and centeral California to the south.
11:39:13 <Craig M> of
11:40:30 <Eric> We have some on the coast Ryan, but the ones in the Cascades are all lava
11:40:53 <Eric> Apparently this lava flow is 8200 years young - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Lava_Bed
11:41:29 <Eric> Interesting note about compasses not working in the interior of that lava flow :-D
11:41:40 <Lechuguilla> I really look forward to getting into some lava tubes. I think there arew a couple in HAwaii I will draw maps of.
11:42:02 <Eric> All the ones I have been in have been long and straight :-D
11:42:25 <Lechuguilla> Balasts can be a serious problem for compasses. A friend of mine used to the cave specialist for Lava Beds NAtional Monument and I know they had that issue for a while.
11:42:26 <Eric> I guess a few turns here and there
11:42:36 <Lechuguilla> Basalts*
11:42:56 <Lechuguilla> The ones in Hawaii are fairly straight, they just braid in and out on several levels. The miles rack up quickly.
11:43:16 <Eric> Yes, more vertical layering is what I have seen.
11:43:39 <Dave from B™> They are amazing big. I remember the one in Hawaii Volcanoes NP on the craters road
11:43:53 <Lechuguilla> Apparnetly, anything under a mile in length or something is considered a lava "bubble" rather than a tube.
11:44:14 <Lechuguilla> They have a tendency to be very large and very long in most places.
11:44:32 <Lechuguilla> And very hard to photograph with everything being jet black.
11:44:34 <Eric> This is typical of what I was hiking in yesterday - https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/File:Western_edge,_Big_Lava_Bed,_from_the_Pacific_Crest_Trail.jpg
11:44:48 <Eric> No trails...
11:44:58 <Lechuguilla> Screw all of that. Yuck.
11:45:10 <Lechuguilla> Looks like hiking in the High Guads in New Mexico except its limestone.
11:45:38 <Dave from B™> NO THANKS
11:45:59 <Lechuguilla> The best part is that the guads cavers rarely use GPS.
11:46:26 <Lechuguilla> Everything is verbal. "Hike along the ridge until you see these two disnct trees. I don't know how to describe them, you'll know them when you see them/"
11:46:27 <Eric> I had 3 gps with me :-P I didn't want to get lost out there.
11:46:43 <Time for bees> Well, there are kind of trails or rock hopping will not only get you lost, you may find no way to go forward. Been in lava fields before.
11:47:11 <Lechuguilla> Then go downhill to the left to the edge of the 800ft sheer cliff. The cave is about 80ft below the cliff edge and is only visible when you're within 10ft of it.
11:47:27 <Lechuguilla> 7 hours to find the cave, 3hrs to go through it.
11:47:59 <Forestbewithyou> well gtg talk to you all later
11:51:16 <Eric> Agree TFB, especially in this area, there is about 400ft of elevation gain in this lava field toward the cinder cone, but you can't see your path due to trees growing in the lava.
11:51:45 <Eric> There is a reason there is no road or trails in this area.
11:52:14 <Dave from B™> Eric, was this the find not too far from the Gorge on the WA side that you were talking about a few months ago?
11:53:18 <Dave from B™> find = area for some reason
11:56:11 <Eric> Yep, huge field I have been wanting to get into...but realized doing it after I had already done a hike in the morning is NOT the way to tackle it.
11:58:52 <Eric> Ryan, here is our state account with maps of our Caves in Washington - https://www.dnr.wa.gov/Publications/ger_ic40_caves_of_wa.pdf
11:58:58 <Eric> Some cool old maps :-D
11:59:19 <Lechuguilla> I have a copy of that believe it or not.
12:00:58 <Eric> Not surprised :-D
12:01:11 <Dave from B™> Ryan, the foreword starts with your favorite caving word
12:01:27 <Lechuguilla> Hehe thats the noise a caver makes when they fall down a pit
12:02:49 <Lechuguilla> I caught up the Sinks of the Run working map, its quite impressive at over 5ft long.
12:02:58 <Lechuguilla> All pencil.
12:03:39 <Eric> BA
12:03:44 <Eric> dual?
12:07:08 <Dave from B™> This hasn't been a morning full of geysers
12:07:18 <Katie> zzzzzz
12:15:19 <Lechuguilla> Woo! My last stitch fell out!
12:34:32 <Katie> Riverside
12:34:39 <Eric> Linda is a sock now?
12:34:47 <Eric> ohh, caterpillar :-D

12:35:53 <Dave from B™> hahahaha
12:36:08 <linda🐛> now there's two my phone froze up
12:39:06 <Dave from B™> A pair is fair
12:40:14 <linda🐛> 😊 hi all

12:42:37 <linda🐛> munch munch munch
12:42:52 <Dave from B™> another great children's book
12:45:22 <Eric> https://photos.app.goo.gl/ieixUcooYCurxLWP6
12:45:35 <Eric> My video from earlier in the summer :-D
12:46:18 <Eric> Turn your speakers way up to get the feel for the caterpillars :-D
12:46:40 <linda🐛> oh cool.😊
12:47:14 <Eric> Literally millions of them on the trail. All dancing.
12:47:38 <linda🐛> well losing phone service so ill say adieu
12:48:20 <linda🐛> Eric, thx for the cats
12:48:25 <JarnoO> cya Linda

12:48:35 <linda🐛> JarnoO, hi and bye
12:50:16 <JarnoO> Grand

12:59:49 <JarnoO> b1 done
13:00:58 <JarnoO> Grand done
13:01:05 <JarnoO> looks like a C
13:02:15 <JarnoO> G1C | 9m21s
13:09:22 <JarnoO> oh c'mon OF...
13:11:52 <Dave from B™> Still a few tourists out and about
13:15:33 <RebelBotanist> Howdy y'all!! 🙃
13:15:44 <Lechuguilla> aFTERNOON
13:15:48 <Lechuguilla> Afternoon
13:15:52 <JarnoO> afternoon
13:16:25 <RebelBotanist> I'm trying to be time zone sensitive #timeisirrelevant
13:16:47 <Lechuguilla> its afternoon in the park, too
13:16:54 <Lechuguilla> thats the only true time zone: MST
13:17:11 <Dave from B™> Yes, it is least important to everyone but gazers
13:18:16 <RebelBotanist> Is a good time zone. The Bob Marshall is also in it!
13:18:54 <Lechuguilla> You know what else is?
13:18:58 <Lechuguilla> LECHUGILLA
13:19:32 <Dave from B™> R, do you know what the cave was named after?
13:19:48 <Lechuguilla> RebelBotanist can tell you
13:19:53 <Lechuguilla> in her own words
13:20:00 <Dave from B™> Yes, he should!:D
13:20:05 <Dave from B™> she,oops
13:20:36 <Dave from B™> It is NOT named after a tequilla
13:20:46 <Lechuguilla> She has her own unique experiences with lechuguilla.
13:20:49 <RebelBotanist> So I know park employees are on this. But I'll tell my story.
13:20:59 <Lechuguilla> something something "five new buttholes"
13:21:26 <RebelBotanist> There is an agave called the Lechuguilla agave
13:21:43 <RebelBotanist> Like most agaves, it's sharp and unpleasant.
13:22:09 <RebelBotanist> It loves areas which have had fire in them out in NM.
13:22:39 <RebelBotanist> Slaughter Canyon in Carlsbad had many such agave
13:23:39 <RebelBotanist> Woe betide any idiot who decides to descend THE MOSTLY CRUMBLED CANYON WALL THAT'S FILLED WITH LECHUGUILLA AGAVE
13:23:46 <SantaFe108> I keep forgetting there is more than one carlsbad
13:24:20 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Is there a Carlsgood?
13:24:23 <RebelBotanist> I almost fell on a gratuitous bunch of Lechuguilla agave.
13:25:11 <RebelBotanist> Let's just say I got saved, at the last moment, from my anus region becoming a colander from each lech agave leaf.
13:26:00 <Lechuguilla> And so this will be her state of mind the entire time she is in Lechuguilla.
13:26:48 <SantaFe108> wow, imagine having your rear end turned into Penta
13:27:17 <JarnoO> expect the next OF some 5 or so minutes before the window opens. 3m22s
13:27:21 <RebelBotanist> Well, now I'm throwing that sign in the trash.
13:27:30 <Lechuguilla> This would have been more like the pepper box on top of Lone Star
13:27:32 <Dave from B™> Thanks for the story!
13:28:01 <Lechuguilla> Thanks, SantaFe lol. I got an old Penta Geyser sign as a gift years ago.
13:28:06 <Lechuguilla> And now we cant have it in the house!
13:28:19 <SantaFe108> what!? you can get replica geyser signs???!?
13:28:24 <RebelBotanist> I'm full of stories. Not enough from Yellowstone, but give me time.
13:28:38 <Lechuguilla> No, its an old sign. They replaced it with a new one and I got the old one.
13:28:48 <SantaFe108> dang thats nice
13:28:51 <Lechuguilla> Its a long and convoluted story, but it was a gift, and it was legal.
13:29:14 <SantaFe108> you guys want to know a very bad landscaping decision one of our neighbors in Big Bear made?
13:29:37 <RebelBotanist> Is the Pope catholic? Hell yes
13:30:04 <SantaFe108> they planted multiple giant sequoias in a 2 foot strip of dirt along a driveway and a retaining wall down a cliff. the trees are very close together and have 0 room to grow
13:30:13 <RebelBotanist> I love effed up landscaping. I'm a landscaper's daughter after all...
13:30:28 <RebelBotanist> Oh my God,I love it!!!
13:30:47 <Lechuguilla> Will giant sequoias survive PA?
13:30:54 <Lechuguilla> Debating planting on in the yard now.
13:31:09 <Forestbewithyou> Heyo
13:31:16 <SantaFe108> we also have a road down here in socal with a bunch of the most depressing redwood trees ever
13:31:18 <SantaFe108> hi forest
13:31:18 <JarnoO> hi Forest
13:31:18 <Dave from B™> Most landscapers over plant new houses
13:31:34 <Dave from B™> Then, in 15 years you have real problems
13:31:41 <SantaFe108> I love giant sequoias, might be my favorite tree
13:31:56 <JarnoO> "I want it green. NOW! I don't have time to wait!"
13:32:01 <Dave from B™> You're not a tree hugger, then. Those are too big around.
13:32:11 <SantaFe108> Dave from B™, arm extensions
13:32:19 <RebelBotanist> So, yes it'll grow in zone 6...
13:32:24 <Dave from B™> I thought they only sold hair extensions
13:32:48 <SantaFe108> southern california is the capitol of landscaping f-ups
13:33:20 <Lechuguilla> Were getting a seuoia, planting it in the front yard, and naming it the Sheneral German.
13:33:28 <SantaFe108>
13:33:37 <Dave from B™> haha
13:33:53 <Lechuguilla> What say ye, RebelBotanist?
13:34:03 <RebelBotanist> Uh, that may add some stuff to the creek that the trout don't understand...
13:34:27 <RebelBotanist> Let's just buy an inside rescue organpipe
13:34:32 <SantaFe108> trout don't understand anything, give them a book and they act all confused!
13:34:41 <Lechuguilla> We NEED to name it the Sheneral German!!
13:34:58 <RebelBotanist> No.
13:35:01 <JarnoO> Shenerally McGermanface?
13:35:27 <RebelBotanist> Captain Big Wood
13:35:46 <Lechuguilla> Have you guys heard of Spoonerisms?
13:36:27 <JarnoO> now I have
13:36:30 <RebelBotanist> Actually, I'll call it whatever if we can rename SB to Splashy McSplash
13:36:32 <SantaFe108> yeah its a symptom of lindavitis/dave speak
13:36:55 <Forestbewithyou> I like that name RebelBotanist, :)
13:37:06 <SantaFe108> Steamy McBoatFace
13:37:10 <Lechuguilla> No, it would be called Beamstoat.
13:37:16 <Forestbewithyou> Thats a good one too SF
13:37:24 <Lechuguilla> Or Crew Nater.
13:37:33 <SantaFe108> The Paint Peeler
13:37:33 <Forestbewithyou> lol
13:37:48 <SantaFe108> The Car Wash
13:37:49 <Lechuguilla> We were recently introduced to Spoonerisms and RebelBotanist is not a fan
13:37:59 <RebelBotanist> My phone wouldn't let me and the face...
13:38:29 <RebelBotanist> And hey, Excedrin geyser is my favorite
13:38:50 <SantaFe108> Rprinkles
13:39:08 <RebelBotanist> Or Harold and Kumar geyser
13:39:15 <SantaFe108> Man & Fortar
13:39:46 <RebelBotanist> I literally am never gonna get to know the geysers right thanks to this
13:40:03 <JarnoO> Siverride?
13:40:37 <RebelBotanist> All I wanna do is go on the thermal plant surveys, and I'm gonna **** up the data
13:40:45 <RebelBotanist> Egg up
13:40:52 <RebelBotanist> Eff up
13:41:03 <SantaFe108> the data... its all eggs now??!
13:41:32 <Dave from B™> Yep...totally scrambled
13:41:32 <JarnoO> Chicken for sale! Creates data from eggs! Buy now!
13:42:25 <RebelBotanist> Alternate explanation of Yellowstone sulfur smell, underground thermal chickens and eggs
13:42:26 <SantaFe108> I cracked an egg and inside was an eruption entry???
13:42:54 <JarnoO> LC ie
13:44:00 <SantaFe108> RebelBotanist, whenever kevin goes to yellowstone he puts his chickens safely underground
13:44:04 <RebelBotanist> Lc is off to the left with the puff of steam, yes?
13:44:27 <JarnoO> yes, and jetting
13:44:27 <RebelBotanist> By the bend in the boardwalk
13:44:31 <Katie> That's LC - Little Cub
13:44:34 <JarnoO> now in screen
13:45:03 <RebelBotanist> Thanks, I'm still getting my bearings.
13:45:33 <Dave from B™> What else is steaming up there Lioness?
13:45:37 <Katie> Lion looked like it might be warming up a few minutes ago
13:46:01 <Katie> Where are you looking, Dave?
13:46:41 <RebelBotanist> Does Lc take visual precedence over Of on the webcam?
13:47:01 <RebelBotanist> Or does OF still take precedence when I'm window?
13:47:23 <JarnoO> Lioness and Big Cub, Dave. Big Cub is the cone peek above LC's mount, Lioness is that mostly flat formation in front of Big Cub
13:47:49 <Katie> OF takes precedence over everything, but exceptions have beenmade for Giantess at start of eruption because it had been so long.
13:47:56 <JarnoO> OF usually takes precedence over any other geyser
13:48:07 <Dave from B™> It looked like the feature just to the left of LC which I believe is Lioness was steaming
13:48:25 <Dave from B™> I remember order by the fact the cubs are not together
13:48:33 <Katie> In order of precedence: Old Faithful, other geysers, wildlife
13:48:47 <JarnoO> Lioness and Big Cub are pretty much in line of each other, but the primary steam output came from Lioness
13:49:01 <RebelBotanist> And LC is too regular (making an assumption from looking at geyserland times)
13:49:17 <RebelBotanist> To warrant a rare geyser override of camera
13:49:23 <Dave from B™> thanks, Jarno. My webcam screen is small so sometimes hard to tell for me
13:49:24 <RebelBotanist> ??
13:49:25 <JarnoO> my guess an exception would also be made for Splendid (or Splendidn't nowadays :P)
13:49:56 <Dave from B™> We need a bear sighting!
13:49:57 <Lechuguilla> I'd presume exceptions exist for Giantess, Lioness/Big Cub, Splendid, and Giant.
13:50:14 <JarnoO> LC is indeed too regular (and too little for most viewers) for it to take precedence over OF
13:51:17 <JarnoO> Mugwump was also fun to watch on the first day. Only later on the day of its first recorded eruption we went to OF for live sightings, before that only from static
13:52:34 <Lechuguilla> Mugwump was a fun time. North Goggles series gets primacy, too
13:52:49 <JarnoO> would Sawmill and friends warrant an exception of the prime directive should they finally get going again?
13:52:50 <RebelBotanist> Do stupid humans ever get primacy?
13:52:59 <Katie> Nope
13:54:09 <Katie> Nothing commonplace can get precedence over OF
13:54:37 <Craig M> exceptions do exist for Giantess
13:55:06 <JarnoO> the exception confirms the rule, no? :)
13:55:07 <Dave from B™> I wonder if wolves will return this winter
13:55:11 <Craig M> Common sense rule applies
13:55:37 <Lechuguilla> The wolves were awesome to watch in the mornings.
13:56:17 <RebelBotanist> I would love to see a wolf.
13:56:50 <Lechuguilla> One time last winter we got to watch a den of wolves surround a herd of bison in the field.
13:56:51 <Katie> I hope the wolves will return. Seems likely. It was productive for them.
13:56:56 <RebelBotanist> Don't tell anyone, but I am slightly a closeted animal person.
13:57:08 <Lechuguilla> As twisted as it was I was sad we didnt see any blood.
13:57:32 <Lechuguilla> I wanted to see a bison take down.
13:58:20 <Eric> wolves have plenty of bison to eat...would be good for the populations.
13:58:46 <Lechuguilla> Heading out. See you at home, RebelBotanist.
13:58:48 <RebelBotanist> How many bison calves are taken on average by wolves each year?
13:58:56 <SantaFe108> bye Ryan
13:58:59 <JarnoO> cya Ryan
13:59:05 <RebelBotanist> Feel free to join me at Gabe's and/or Goodwill.
13:59:31 <Lechuguilla> Probably just shooting straight home. My mouth hurts.
14:02:41 <Dave from B™> Well, that cinches yet. I thought Rb was Hope. Welcome, Hope
14:06:01 <RebelBotanist> Hi Dave from Dave and Busters!
14:06:33 <Dave from B™> haha
14:12:23 <RebelBotanist> Do I know you as a human Dave from Buster's? I feel like I do but I'm having an espresso induced brain fart
14:14:08 <JarnoO> Giantess looks quite happy despite the windy conditions
14:14:17 <AB> Bee's steam keeps teasing me
14:14:47 <AB> Have we had any good splashes?
14:15:21 <AB> Wyoming is blowing on Giantess' big pond
14:15:54 <JarnoO> AB, this morning it had some action, but nothing really to write home about as far as I remember
14:16:10 <AB> ok
14:17:07 <Dave from B™> I'm not sure we have met, RB
14:18:24 <AB> Wow, no Aurums seen today
14:19:05 <Katie> We haven't been on Geyser Hill all day, so it's possible one was missed, but no one spotted on static if so
14:27:09 <JarnoO> Indy
14:27:10 <JarnoO> .
14:27:11 <JarnoO> .
14:27:11 <JarnoO> .
14:27:12 <JarnoO> .
14:27:12 <Katie> Should say we haven't been on hill all the time all day
14:27:12 <JarnoO> .
14:27:53 <AB> lets see, I am now
14:28:09 <AB> 41 seconds behind Jarno

14:31:04 <Forestbewithyou> Hi Korben
14:31:07 <KB> I only got one text
14:31:17 <SantaFe108> hi korben
14:31:22 <Dave from B™> Welcome KB. fka AB
14:31:27 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Sounds fishy Dave
14:31:28 <sparekitty> i also received just one text.
14:31:42 <sparekitty> but one is plenty! thanks again.
14:31:44 <Katie> Only one was sent. I said sent after SantaFe said received
14:32:03 <sparekitty>
14:32:24 <KB> Better check Dave, someone else might be trying to reach you
14:32:49 <Dave from B™> Well, dang it. One was from Sat...I received only 1...neverm,ind me....I'll go into the corner for a few minutes
14:33:10 <KB> hehe, that is ok Dave
14:33:20 <KB> I've done that before
14:33:21 <JarnoO> hoping for a quick Indy
14:33:57 <KB> I am hoping for whatever will lead to a Beehive eruption
14:34:21 <302> Dave from B™, Hahahaha
14:34:51 <Katie> I'm hoping for quick, too - as in before OF window
14:34:53 <KB> Arms are still sore from 2 days of painting, so willing to procrastinate
14:35:01 <KorbenC> someone "spank" Dave with a swordfish, or would you prefer a tuna?
14:35:30 <Craig M> w...what?
14:35:51 <KB> Korben in taking a break from school
14:35:54 <Dave from B™> Tuna would be less pointy
14:36:48 <KorbenC> KB, no doing homework during this work time, but indy counts, im still doing my homework :D
14:37:08 <Mario> has Aurum not been seen at all today? I don't see it recorded at all in GT
14:38:00 <JarnoO> probably had some unrecorded eruptions today only seen on static. Will take a look after Bee
14:38:03 <KB> I was told cam wasn
14:38:21 <KB> wasn't on the hill all day, meaning they moved around
14:38:32 <KorbenC> BEE
14:38:33 <JarnoO> :bee:
14:38:48 <KB> hope those corner people are ready
14:38:58 <KorbenC> C'mon Bee, get up there.
14:39:14 <KB> Beehive now on delay
14:39:25 <Dave from B™> :)
14:39:53 <Katie> rainbow
14:39:55 <Katie> :)
14:40:47 <JarnoO> that's a good rainbow, too
14:41:17 <KorbenC> nice
14:41:37 <Forestbewithyou> yea that is a nice rainbow
14:41:41 <ghjk> Late to the party but I haven't seen BH in ages. This a good one. Thanks for text.
14:42:41 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Sure beats Daisy or OF
14:42:58 <JarnoO> indeed
14:44:50 <KB> well that was a nice break
14:44:53 <JarnoO> this Bee was preceded by some good boiling from Giantess. Perhaps Giantess triggered Bee into erupting on this one
14:45:24 <JarnoO> OF as immediate follow-up. Nice
14:48:52 <JarnoO> Indicator: lead=11m25s, total=14m09s; Beehive: 4m51s
14:51:49 <JarnoO> OF started @ 1444:41 - nice palindrome :)
14:54:54 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Wow. I just got a BHI text! Short interval.
14:54:58 <SantaFe108 mobi> ?
14:55:05 <Forestbewithyou> yEA

14:56:11 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I think they just had my message in storage.
14:56:18 <lLG> that was me i.miaunderatood
14:56:22 <JarnoO> no Indicator. Just Bee post-eruptive steaming
14:56:22 <Katie> There is no BHI.
14:56:32 <SantaFe108 mobi> oh
14:56:43 <ghjk> Grinch!
14:57:00 <Dave from B™> Someone must be on a SERIOUS delay:D

14:58:21 <lLG> I'm at beach
14:58:25 <SantaFe108 mobi> ok bye
14:58:39 <ynpvisitor71> Dave asked for two texts
14:59:08 <Forestbewithyou> Hi Linda
14:59:19 <Dave from B™> haha 71

15:09:57 <Eric> Another nice rainbow BH...very pretty. Thanks for the capture!
15:11:24 <JarnoO> no problem
15:22:32 <Katie> Suspect Daisy went during Beehive / OF
15:24:05 <JarnoO> thinking the same
15:28:28 <LindaG> I'm back on wifi
15:31:03 <LindaG> and I'm gone. driving home
15:32:51 <Betty> afternoon all, evening JarnoO
15:33:00 <JarnoO> evening Betty
15:36:08 <GO GIANTESS> evenng/afternoon everyone
15:36:20 <JarnoO> afternoon Graham
15:36:21 <Katie> Hello - and GO Giantess!
15:37:00 <Betty> hi Katie and Graham
15:39:15 <Betty> LC ie
15:40:37 <KorbenC> Hi Betty and Graham.
15:41:01 <Betty> hi KorbenC
15:41:58 <Dave from B™> Hi Betty and Graham
15:42:58 <GO GIANTESS> sorry i missed the two burst BHI
15:43:19 <Dave from B™> haha
15:43:29 <Katie> bwahahaha
15:43:57 <Betty> hey Dave from B™
15:45:35 <Dave from B™> Sorry but it is time to skedaddle. Have a great evening everyone! GO DODGERS
15:45:50 <Katie> Go Cubs@!
15:46:14 <Dave from B™> Yes...until we meet! My fresh manager is a CUB FANATIC
15:46:45 <GO GIANTESS> isnt baseball season over
15:46:46 <Dave from B™> He was even going to go to London this year to watch the Cubs play before COVID hit
15:49:32 <GO GIANTESS> what happened to AUrum today?
15:52:41 <JarnoO> Sigh... I hate it when people use the To: and/or CC: fields for surveys and whatnot. I'm not interested in all those email addresses...
15:53:02 <KorbenC> GS, I will give you a hint It starts with a K and ends with an "evin" :D
15:53:38 <Betty> GS is GG, Korben
15:53:45 <KorbenC> Jarno, I havent been on much, have you seen any good boils from Giantess?
15:54:01 <JarnoO> before Bee there were a few good ones based on forced steam
15:54:14 <KorbenC> Betty, lol :)
15:54:15 <JarnoO> makes me think Giantess triggered Bee into erupting
15:54:56 <Siegmund> it has done so in the past - though its more usually a short spell of 8 or 10 hour intervals in the few days post-G, than a longish term thing
15:55:15 <Siegmund> rather odd how little weirdness there was on the hill immediately after each of these last two Gs
15:56:02 <JarnoO> I think there's just enough water available for Giantess to go, but not a whole lot in reserve for any other weirdnesses
15:56:07 <Betty> hi Siegmund
15:56:23 <KorbenC> Hi siegmund
15:57:27 <JarnoO> probably the biggest benefitter from Giantess were the Anemones. AB now sometimes acts like a cone geyser rather than a fountain-type and both AB and AL appear to be a tad stronger :)
15:58:33 <Siegmund> A shortage of water for big anemone is a benefit?
15:59:04 <JarnoO> also intervals have been remarkable constant. Intervals now tend to be 10 minutes for AB if AL participated and about 8 or 9 minutes for an AB solo
15:59:41 <JarnoO> have barely seen any AL solos
15:59:51 <Siegmund> makes me wish I could see in person
15:59:55 <Katie> signing out
16:00:05 <Katie> er... releasing controls
16:00:50 <KorbenC> thx for driving Katie
16:00:52 <Eric> Yes, watching the anemones would be interesting right now. Totally worth it if you are on the hill.
16:01:19 <Katie> My pleasure. Giantess likes to go after my shifts end, so keep an eye out. ;)
16:01:47 <KorbenC> haha Katie.
16:01:49 <Betty> thx Katie
16:02:03 <Betty> hi Eric
16:02:24 <JarnoO> perhaps most of the weirdness is in the Anemone-Imp corner. Imp has also been having some good activity with the east side sometimes sending up a jet accompanied by a burst from the west side
16:03:14 <JarnoO> other than that I really hope Giantess' future activity will wake up more of the Hill. Surely it should happen someday soon
16:04:19 <Eric> Hi Betty
16:11:20 <JarnoO> OT ie
16:18:18 <JarnoO> off for the day. Enjoy Ye Ol'e Fluffball and perhaps Giantess
16:18:38 <Eric> Night Jarno
16:18:40 <KorbenC> Bye JO
16:20:26 <Betty> night Jarno
16:20:39 <Forestbewithyou> Bye Jarno
16:22:54 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Betty, my Son found some pretzels at Lagoon (north of Salt Lake) that sound like they are pretty authentic. Said they were huge with a nice crunchy crust and soft inside. He didn't like the mustard sauce but said they were great with nacho cheese.
16:26:20 <Betty> sounds good
16:28:11 <Siegmund> cmon OF, hold off one more minute so the NPS prediction is wrong :)
16:28:54 <GO GIANTESS> the prediction was right, the geyser just isnt cooperating
16:29:36 <Eric> Is Jake hiding behind that nickname?
16:30:16 <Eric> Hi Siegmund and GG
16:30:34 <Eric> NPS prediction is wrong often
16:32:28 <GO GIANTESS> geyser is relucatnt
16:33:01 <Betty> OF
16:33:47 <Siegmund> a nice show and I got my wish for a more-than-standard deviation
16:34:41 <Eric> haha
16:34:43 <GO GIANTESS> I am still waiting for JarnoO and Korben to give us the +- 1 min predicton
16:35:00 <Eric> Jarno actually wants to expand the prediction window :-P
16:35:21 <Eric> His research seems to point in the opposite direction.
16:35:44 <Siegmund> how often does he want to be right?
16:35:51 <Eric> I think we should only listen to research the narrows the OF window.
16:36:17 <Eric> I am going to start the "Faith Based OF window" research.
16:37:33 <Eric> Faith Based geyser predictions are the latest in our governments restructuring.
16:38:22 <Eric> With or without mold?
16:38:36 <GO GIANTESS> i wonder if the old testament prediction is different to the new testament?
16:38:41 <Siegmund> 8-day-old fries are probably 'with'
16:39:10 <Eric> Mold heals!
16:39:19 <KorbenC> without mold :P
16:39:48 <KorbenC> The chicken is marinated for 8 days, dont worry, no mold :) homemade fries are made today.
16:40:07 <Kevin L™ 🌵> You eating my rooster Korben?
16:40:29 <KorbenC> haha Kevin :)
16:40:32 <Eric> Did someone forget it in the fridge?
16:41:04 <KorbenC> Eric, ish :P
16:41:12 <GO GIANTESS> also is each eruption considered to be a reincarnation?
16:41:15 <Eric> I think you technically max out in penetration of chicken at like 4 hours or something :-P
16:41:36 <Kevin L™ 🌵> It isn't in a fridge, trust me!
16:41:47 <Eric> No, but if you don't believe, it won't erupt.
16:42:14 <GO GIANTESS> do the rules of thisnon-proft preculde religious discussions?
16:42:42 <Eric> I didn't say anything about religion :-P I just said faith.
16:42:42 <Betty> time for sleep, night all
16:42:47 <Eric> Night Betty
16:42:50 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Night
16:43:19 <StaceyM> I always consider each eruption to be "hope fulfilled"
16:43:56 <Siegmund> Gazers start out young and hopeful, and wind up grey and bulging.
16:44:55 <GO GIANTESS> can we sue the non-profit directors if the predictions are wrong?
16:45:20 <KorbenC> lo
16:45:21 <KorbenC> l
16:46:07 <Siegmund> Sure. You won't win, but there are two lawyers out there who would love to take your money and theirs.
16:46:37 <StaceyM> Depends on how egregious the error is....intentional infliction of emotional distress could be a fun claim
16:47:07 <GO GIANTESS> we have the basis for a class action suit
16:47:17 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Get your leak fixed Graham?

16:52:10 <Siegmund> as long as you mute before you cough, you are good
16:54:54 <Siegmund> Oblong just steams like that to get our hopes up...sigh

20:12:08 <LindaG> Lion ie
20:12:45 <no one> Poached Quail on the fence, isn't that illegal even in Vegas?
20:13:34 <LindaG> I'm wondering how he got on the wall
20:13:36 <no one> So cooper broke Kevin? I see no Kevin listed on GT.
20:14:05 <LindaG> I do
20:14:24 <Kevin L™ 🌵> They get on my house too Linda
20:14:51 <no one> Congradulations, where you going for the honey moon?
20:15:01 <LindaG> Kevin L™ 🌵, 😊 that's cool, they sound like fun
20:15:37 <no one> Never have had quail on the top of the house. My turkeys used to roost on the roof.
20:15:55 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I will try to get pictures
20:16:10 <LindaG> Kevin L™ 🌵, 😊
20:16:19 <no one> You have the california quail the the top knot?
20:18:36 <no one> Or bob quail that attract chickens for dinner?
20:19:35 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Not sure what type they are
20:20:29 <no one> Caulifirnia. https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/assets/photo/65610061-480px.jpg
20:20:55 <LindaG> Kevin L™ 🌵, my hummingbirds left 😕
20:21:13 <Kevin L™ 🌵> Bummer
20:26:23 <no one> Ours are still around, could be travelers. One year we had one stuck, and despite my best efforts I am sure it froze. Problem with living some place that can go from jacket weather to below zero over night. I can see Kevin Shivering as he reads, can even hear his knees knocking, and dentures chattering.
20:26:43 <LindaG> Sometimes hummers that arent supposed to be here pass thru. I left feeders up.
20:28:26 <no one> We only get the ones that gaurd feeders, so will only have a male and female or maybe an extra. It is kind of fun listening to them dog fight, but would rather seem many bumble birds at the feeder.
20:30:20 <LindaG> They do like to fight, I'll miss them
20:31:54 <no one> Rofous is what we get I believe. They are terrible at sharing. I have tried to put a second feeder up, but no use as they just guard it and the fod goes bad.
20:32:16 <no one> What do you feed?
20:33:12 <LindaG> Sugar water, 1 c water to quarter cup sugar
20:33:23 <no one> Cactus should feed them, I bet flours are scarce in his neighborhood.
20:34:05 <LindaG> Mine do the same, we have ruby throat, rufus are the ones that pass thru accidentally
20:34:39 <no one> Me too, but with only a pair, I cut it in half. For the math challenged, 1/8th cup sugar in 1/2 cup boiling water. Kills what ever is in the sugar bag that makes it go cloudy.
20:35:56 <no one> Let it cool covered so they do not burn their little tongues.
20:36:15 <LindaG> Yup
20:38:26 <no one> I watch those nature shows that have all the exhotic birds from different places and wish we could see something besides the dang rufus.
20:39:21 <no one> Put a seed feeder out and gets lots of english house sparrows.
20:39:47 <LindaG> And we wish we could see something besides ruby throated 😃
20:42:02 <LindaG> Up north Jersey I had 50 house sparrows at my feeder
20:44:45 <LindaG> Well have a goodnight all
20:45:52 <no one> We still do get some different birds, have not seen Pinion Jays for a while, but they ate all the sunflower seeds so they stopped reseeding.
20:46:08 <no one> Night.
20:46:46 <no one> I guess Cactus is watching hockey. I just can not watch as the empty stadium is too loud.
20:47:29 <no one> Nice moon
21:06:45 <Kevin L™ 🌵> I am still here. Just doing paperwork.
23:21:17 <no-one> zzzzzzz no matter how hard you try, you can not get an egg out of a rooter.
